President Obama and Vladimir Putin pledge to wipe out Daesh in wake of terrorists attacks in Paris.

Courtesy of the Mirror:

America and Russia have pledged to wipe out ISIS .

Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin sat down at the G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey, for crucial talks.

The two world leaders were pictured huddled around a coffee table in the aftermath of the terror attacks in Paris .

And Obama and Putin are by no means alone in wanting to bring the fight to the terrorists.

Already France has launched a series of air attacks:

France bombed the Syrian city of Raqqa on Sunday night, its most aggressive strike against the Islamic State group it blames for killing 129 people in a string of terrorist attacks across Paris only two days before.

President François Hollande, who vowed to be “unforgiving with the barbarians” of the Islamic State after the carnage in Paris, decided on the airstrikes in a meeting with his national security team on Saturday, officials said.

I totally support the idea of going after the terrorists, but I very much want people to keep in mind the lessons of the Iraq War and  remember that killing people in predominantly Muslim countries in retaliation for attacks conducted by Muslim extremists only exacerbates the problem and does nothing to keep us safe, but rather puts all of us in greater danger.

Sometimes the idea of killing them over there, before they kill us over here, only makes more of them over there want to kill us over here.

P.S. By the way for those confused as to who I am referring to in the title, "Daesh" is the name that ISIS does NOT want you to call them. So of course that will be the only name that should be used to refer to them.

It makes me sad that the President has so little time left in office. As happy as the inauguration of President Clinton will make me, I'll still be sad to see him go, although he has worked so hard, and needs a rest. He has really aged in the last couple of years.

Great idea, Jonathan! Force all POWs to eat bacon every day. It beats waterboarding!

Imagine how different it would be if Daesh didn't present a direct threat to Russia.

Fuck Putin and Assad to hell.

What does Daesh mean? ISIS 'threatens to cut out the tongues' of anyone using this word

In a speech following the Paris terror attacks, President Francois Hollande used the word 'Daesh' - what is it and why do ISIS hate it? What does it mean?

... Daesh is an acronym for the Arabic phrase al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant).

Essentially, it's another word for ISIS - but apparently one that ISIS militants do not favour.

Why? Because it is similar to the Arabic words 'Daes', 'one who crushes something underfoot' and 'Dahes', translated as 'one who sows discord'.

It seems that other world leaders have now followed suit, with French president Francois Hollande and the USA's secretary of state John Kerry both using the term....

According to NBC, ISIS has reportedly threatened to 'cut out the tongues' of anyone it hears using the term.

Russian officials described the meeting in less glowing terms, saying that Mr. Obama and Mr. Putin remained at odds about how to achieve those goals.

“On tactics, the two sides are still diverging,” Yuri Ushakov, Mr. Putin’s foreign policy adviser, told reporters.

Of course, they are! Each side has its own preferences. What must happen now is that both the US and Russia (as well as other nations) agree that they are possibly equally vulnerable to a decentralized system of fanatics who are educated in the use of today's IT. Daesh has found plenty of ways to indoctrinate their radicalized followers that sacrifice is the ultimate show of adherence to their cause, and the more casualties they can inflict upon those they consider unworthy of their own perverted ideals, the better. This has been the thread throughout recorded history with which the power hungry have excelled at manipulation. By calling upon whatever "Almighty" the followers believe in, their goals are that much more easily achieved.

When Japan would not surrender we did what needed to be done, twice. I would wholeheartedly support a final solution such as happened in Japan to bring these idiots to their knees and break them down to the point that they finally surrender. I agree with closing our borders to ME immigrants until such a time that we find it safe to allow them to enter our country. Cut the head off the ME and then wait a few decades until things settle down and see what the situation is.

    1. Little problem there with your analogy: Japan was the interloper in China, so ask yourself just who is the interloper in, ah, let's say Iraq?

So you think we should drop a couple atomic (or nuclear) bombs on the "Middle East"? That's what I'm reading in your first two sentences. Or maybe you didn't mean what you say about a "final solution such as happened in Japan" ("what needed to be done, twice").

If you aren't equating dropping atomic bombs on Japan with closing our borders to immigrants from the "Middle East," perhaps you should rethink your analogy.

    4. By the way, the second bomb was the result of poor wording in President Truman's original order: "Deploy the weapon." The news of Nagasaki's destruction infuriated him.

I don't see any agreement between Obama and Putin since Putin is using his military to keep Assad in power. Assad is a BIG part of the problem.
