According to FBI "Black Friday" broke the record for most background checks for gun purchases. Well that's troubling.

Courtesy of USA Today:

More Americans had their backgrounds checked purchasing guns on Black Friday than any day on record, according to data released by the FBI this week.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System processed 185,345 requests on Nov. 27, one of the largest retail sales days in the country.

"This was an approximate 5% increase over the 175,754 received on Black Friday 2014," wrote Stephen Fischer, the FBI's chief of multimedia productions. "The previous high for receipts were the 177,170 received on 12/21/2012."

Previous spikes for background checks, conducted before a gun buyer can obtain a firearm, occurred after prominent mass shootings, like in December 2012 in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

So to be clear some of the same people involved in these displays of rational behaviors also purchased firearms.

Gee no wonder they call it "Black Friday."

I'm just waiting for Queen Heifer to say something, if she does at all. What could she possibly say without coming off as the hypocrite she is? Please proceed, QUITTER.

How sick does a person have to be to purchase guns on the day after Thanksgiving. It's a day too late for the poor turkey. And are they meant to be Christmas gifts or bought just because they were on super sale?

    1. Even sicker -- a public figure who thinks he is fit to be President retweeted this:

[Trump's] poll numbers jump every time instances like this occur.'

What does this say about a presidential frontrunner’s priorities?

Every child should have an assault rifle under the tree to bring to show and tell...

    Who knows...

Maybe one good kid with a gun...

Yeah, and, as Gryph has posted many times, that seldom works out well. How utterly stupid have we become? When is enough enough??

@7:00 - There have been plenty of events in which "one good guy with a gun" was there, and afraid to shoot, because (as is SO OBVIOUS) he was fearful the police would think he was a perp. So NO. That argument is erroneous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the FBI is doing background checks on gun buyers but not necessarily the intended gift recipient. WTH?

What could be more American than buying a gun for Christmas?

I'm interested in the photo at the top of the page.

    WTF????

How many rounds will that magazine hold? The rifle is an AK-47 variant, probably imported from China or Bulgaria. Cheap stamped sheet metal parts; equally cheap scope to make it look like an accurate firearm. And, of course, the deer you're shooting at will stand still while you empty that 100-plus round magazine.

This is NOT what the Second Amendment is about. However, this IS what you get when you combine gutless legislators with NRA $$$$.

Then there's the matter of the mouth-breathing kid in the background . . .

    2. Just consider how much that magazine weighs when it's loaded with what looks like some pretty high caliber rounds.

I have a mental picture of someone staggering around under the weight, trying to zero in on his target.

It doesn't help that the old guy holding the ersatz AK-47 looks like he's having an orgasm...

    3. And apparently they make body armor for deer, so you need to armor piercing bullets.

And since those deer might shoot back, you also need your own body armor.

      When does it end?

Masking this lunacy as hunting is a joke nobody is laughing at. Nobody believes it.

I'm waiting for the NRA to be added to the list of domestic terrorist organizations.

Watching this news conference from Chief Burguan, I still have to ask WTF is wrong with people, and HOW can the NRA and our "leaders" stand for this?

Don't talk to me about your GOD; He would want no part of this.

That photo looks like something Norman Rockwell would do for the saturday evening post. What's more american than mom's apple pie, a christmas tree with guns wrapped in pretty paper, and magazines that can kill an army before being switched out?
