Federal judge says there is no evidence of criminal activity in Planned Parenthood videos.

Courtesy of CBS News:

Recordings secretly made by an anti-abortion group at meetings of abortion providers do not show criminal activity and could put the providers at risk, a federal judge said Friday, citing the recent shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic.

U.S. District Judge William Orrick made the comments during a hearing over the National Abortion Federation's request for a preliminary injunction that would continue to block the release of the recordings. Orrick did not immediately issue a ruling. He previously issued a temporary restraining order blocking the recordings pending the outcome of the preliminary injunction hearing.

The National Abortion Federation filed a lawsuit in July, saying members of the Center for Medical Progress infiltrated its meetings and recorded its members. The federation of abortion providers says the release of any audio or video would put members in danger.

Orrick seemed to agree, saying doctors who have appeared in videos released by the center have received death threats. He also cited suspected arson at abortion clinics and the November shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic that left three people dead and nine wounded.

Of course there is nothing criminal in those videos, however the violent rhetoric coming from Fox news hosts and Republican presidential candidates in response to those videos, well that is another thing altogether.

I am still hoping to see the producer of those doctored videos, David Daleiden, brought up on domestic terrorism charges for the shooting in Colorado Springs.

I hope that Planned Parenthood can someday be compensated for the mayhem that these false videos created. There are dozens of politicians all over the country who need to apologize profusely and publicly to the people who work at Planned Parenthood.

    OT

I apologize for this. It isn't something I normally do. However, after reading this article on the BBC page, I immediately thought: "And Trump and the GOP claim all followers of Islam are terrorists, huh?"

This article describes how muslims in Kenya saved their fellow passengers when their bus was attacked by al-Shabab.

Like it or not, abortion is legal. Anyone that interferes with someone's legal right to terminate their pregnancy or harass a provider needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

But what Planned Parenthood does best is prevent pregnancies by offering family planning services (i.e. birth control). Should Planned Parenthood shut down, the abortion rate will skyrocket.

Abstinence does not work. People have sex and will continue to have sex. Just ask Bristol Palin how that abstinence thing worked out for her.

Once Bristol's baby is (publicly) born, she'd better get herself to the nearest Planned Parenthood and learn how to avoid fatherless pregnancies in the future.

Imagine if Bristol did a 180 and came clean. Woke up from the brainwashing and talked about how STUPID it is to try a practice abstinence. Especially when you're more or less an adult-out of high school-and supporting yourself.

Maybe a little OT but Chelsea Clinton just announced she's going to have another baby next summer! You know,
Dr. Chelsea Clinton Mezvinsky, who obviously didn't "get ahead of herself" and was married before she "planned" to have any children.

Planned Parenthood is one of my pet charities, and will support a woman's right to choose because it's the law of the land and the right thing to do. Whomever did these propaganda pieces needs to be tracked down and punished to the full extent of the law.

  8. What good is a restraining order, injunction or whatever?

    The video is out.

Sure, you can confiscate the remaining footage but they probably have copies by now.

You'd have to go through this process every time they release something and then it's only closing the barn door AFTER the horse is gone.

You can try to muzzle them and forbid any further footage, but they'll just form another group under another name and keep doing it.

They're like cockroaches. You'll never be rid of them.

It would be nice to pick some of the most egregious ringleaders, charge them and then levy some HUUUUUUGE fines plus the maximum in jail time but again, you have to charge them with something you can prove that can stick. Making an example of them and hurting them fiscally might slow them down. But you'll never stop them.
