Furor over Donald Trump's recent remarks reaching critical mass. Update!

You know it has seemed that the Donald was coated in Teflon the way every criticism seemed to slide right off of him without leaving a discernible mark.

However this time Trump may have taken his "politically incorrect" shtick a smidge too far.

Not only did newly elected Speaker of the House Paul Ryan come out strong against Trump's remarks, but even the usually non-partisan reporter Richard Engel could not let this pass:

"This is really not the country that I know," he said on MSNBC on Monday night. He continued:

This is not small ball, actually. This matters. It would be interesting to say, "Oh, this is just fun. This is just more, you know, he's trying to score a few points." But the world watches this. The world sees the leading political candidate from one party making these kind of statements and still doing well and having these rallies. ... Those are going around the world right now, and people realize this person is leading in the polls. That must be what Americans think. I was today with an ambassador from the Middle East. Today. And we were talking exactly about this subject. And he said, "Well, people in our country watch what is going on, and it makes us very concerned." So from the world perspective, it is absolutely an image, an impression, a black spot on our collective foreign policy and our conscience. And it also just feeds into the ISIS [Islamic State] narrative.

Ricard Engel is well known for reporting the straight facts, with virtually no political spin, so for him to weigh in like this you have to know that Trump's remarks are upsetting and angering his sources.

In Britain there is already a petition, with well over 200,000 signatures, asking the Parliament to block Donald Trump from entering the UK.

Perhaps even more impactful, at least in Trump's eyes I would imagine, is news that his remarks have pissed off some of the Middle Eastern businessmen that he has long wanted to work a deal with:

Emirati business magnate Khalaf al-Habtoor only months ago proclaimed his support for the Republican presidential candidate, but that's all changed in the wake of Trump's increasingly incendiary comments about Islam.

"If he comes to my office, I will not let him in. I reject him," al-Habtoor told The Associated Press. "Maybe we can meet somewhere where I can debate with him in a very civilized way, not in the way he approaches people."

There is no way that I am going to suggest that this is the end of the Donald Trump campaign for President,  because at this point we are so far down the rabbit hole I cannot discern up from down.

However I will say that if this INCREASES his poll numbers, that the Republican party might just as well all start donning their white hoods in public right now.

Because there will no longer be ANY doubt as to just who they are from this point forward.

Update: Stephen King weighs in as well.
Such a way with words.

Trump is a dangerous man. He may be considered an attention-seeking bloviating puffball, but his 'base' are getting all riled up with Trump's bigotry and racism. By his words, he knows he's empowering the right-wing, evoking some kind of 'let's have a civil war' mentality, and it's working and he knows it. Malignant narcissists don't care what results fall out from their insatiable need for power and attention. All they care about is winning and being number 1. If a MN has to embellish and incite violence against others, he/she'll do it without any conscience, because their end goal is to win, always to win.

The pursuit of the win at the expense of innocent blood. He is a dangerous man.

11:09 AM One major problem - Trump has to be selected by Republicans to be their candidate for POTUS. That isn't going to happen as they know they would lose and Hillary Clinton would be elected.

Sarah Palin will never be a national VP much less ever be appointed Secretary of Energy (that is a joke within itself!).

Depending on Who is elected to the Senate which confirms cabinet nominees and the American electorate to vote more for those who look like they on a state level and gerrymandering - that is a nightmare not outside the realm of possibility.

A petition on the UK Parliament’s website calling for Trump to be banned from entering the country attracted more than 100,000 signatures in about a day, making it eligible to be considered for debate in Parliament. “The signatories believe Donald J Trump should be banned from UK entry,” it says, and calls for Trump to be excluded because of “hate speech”.

Donald Trump's ancestral land is Germany. You might want to read about Trump's grandfather, Friedrich Drumpf. One day Trump may want to visit Germany again. A US President will be very involved with German leaders. What would Germany do? Angela Merkel Chancellor of Germany was embraced by GWB.

Trump will never be POTUS! The Republicans will not - and can not - nominate him as their "chosen one" during their upcoming convention.

They know that if they do, they will lose and Hillary Clinton will be our next leader. Plus, they would lose seats in the United States Congress as well as in State Legislatures across the country.

And he must be oroud that his grandfather was a draft dodger, too, who was not allowed back in Germany, which resulted in our being stuck with the Drumpfs...er Trumps, as they call themselves.

No Trump will never be POTUS if the Republicans have any sense of decency or fairness.

If Trump isn't a liar he can run on a third party and screw the Republicans that way.

Or they can negotiate another deal.

May be Trump owns the Republican party and they can't win. Unless they win like Donald Trump and Sarah Palin win.

The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK.

If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the 'unacceptable behaviour' criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful.

Yep, Trump has unleashed their inner brat. It will be very hard to bring them down from their "triumphal" stance, having had a spokesman. Deposing him will only make him and them martyrs, more determined than ever to avenge their soon-to-be minority status.

I'm still expecting trump will get swatted down before long, and put in his place by the powers that be.

But before that happens, he will split the republican party and possibly run as an independent, giving the race to Hillary.

However, we will be dealing with the trump chumps, all fired up, ugly, and incoherent, for a long time to come.

Some minister in Texas got a standing ovation after his hate sermon on Muslims being godless.

Those so-called religious people are rightwingers for the most part, who only care about moolah, which is why they are not speaking out.

What speaks volumes to me is why did it take this long for even a mild rebuke? Reince Prebus and Paul Ryan should lose their jobs over this. Trump is playing right into the hands of Isis and is their biggest recruiting tool.
Boycott Live with skinny soap opera lady and hot looking black dude with a gap in his front teeth, boycott anything and anyone who gives him time, including Barbra Walters for interviewing the idiot. He has nothing even close to what it takes to be President, he's a spoiled bully.
He's on tv now bitching about Time magazine giving Angela Merkel person of the year award, and not him. He's also in a pissing match with the mayor of Philadelphia.
The rest of the GOP candidates have skidmarks and are losing sleep over how to handle him. Ignore him and he'll go away.

    1. Just Prebus and Ryan? What about MCCONNELL?! The douche hanging the first responders out to dry. You know. The "thank you for your service now don't get sick or die quickly" Republican leader.

  31. Donald Trump's poll numbers are high because people are sick of illegal immigration. Regardless of what you think of him, he's right about some issues. I'll bet he can't stand Sarah but he wants her screwballs to vote for him.

When he talked about areas in the U.K., where he said police were afraid to go, I think he was talking about the stickers Muslims have put up on poles. These areas are ruled by Sharia law and their courts are held in rooms in the Mosques.

Apparently, they have preachers who settle disputes between Muslims regarding domestic abuse, divorce and other issues.

    Anyway, here's the sticker:

Where's proof the stickers are on poles, much less prevent dancing, alcohol, gambling, drugs, and proof police refuse to go into these neighborhoods?

Jeb! seems to think idiot Trump was hired by Hilary to clinch her election. Ha! If anyone, it would be Mittens. The only other people who could stop him are Chas & David Koch.

  33. I like the word play.

But I wonder how many will connect furor with Fuhrer?

The media is starting to grow a backbone and call a spade a spade. Today on the Huffington post they stopped just short of calling Republicans Fascists. But not Trump. He was called out for exactly the fascist, racist bigot he is.

It's not Trump we should be afraid of. It's Cruz.

I think Stephen King is being kind and generous to refer to Trump only as a rabid coyote. I would have used much stronger language. Also, King should apologize to all coyotes, rabid or not.

Trumps fascist rhetoric is very dangerous. Remember Nazi Germany.
