Courtesy of TPM: In a segment that aired on CBS News Thursday, Major Garrett asked Bush if he could be a surprise story in Iowa.
"Yes, because the expectations are so low," Bush said, with a smile.
"Well, you have succeeded there, governor" Garrett quipped, to which, Bush thrusted his hands in the air like a champion.
"Mission accomplished!" Bush exclaimed.
It's like the guy is TRYING to sabotage his campaign.
I never believed he wanted to be president.
ReplyDeleteIn it for the money.
I agree. I've heard him say in the past he didn't want to be president.
DeleteCould he possibly put less of an effort than he already is in it, lol!
This is a great illustration of the combination of privilege and entitlement that George HW and Barbara Bush instilled in their children. Way to go George and Barbara! Your sons are complete shits.
ReplyDeleteNo disrespect to inbreds. But it's a bit revealing when you are that slooooow.
DeleteJeb, I am looking at you, hollowed eyed boy!
Please recognize that dyslexia can make you seem like a moron if you try to be something you are not. Jeb is not a well read individual. He comes off like an imbecile when he tries to relate current events.
DeleteI have a husband two sons with dyslexia. None of them read or write unless they absolutely have to. Believe you me, however, they are very intelligent.
Shame on the Bush's for not crusading making dyslexia more understood. Papa Bush, George W, and I believe jeb have dyslexia.
@66gardeners
DeleteI appreciate your soapbox but I highly doubt dyslexia is the root of their problems. Dyslexia may cause reading and comprehension challenges but, as your sons and husbands prove, it does not excuse the Bush's lack of intelligence.
Definitely the wrong argument to make in explaining the fallacies of the Bush family. They're simply ignorant.
Or maybe he's just an asshole and a moron.
DeleteI'm guessing your husband and sons aren't like the Bush boys.

Delete10% of the population has dyslexia. Only about 2% are aware of it. People (children ibnschool especially) suffer great humiliation. Diagnosing it is like opening a door. People with dyslexia are ashamed and do not want to talk about it. It should come out of the closet so to speak for the benefit of all.
My intention here is to help someone who may not know they or someone they know has dyslexia. In no way does this excuse what the Bush's have done to this country.
No one I know who has dyslexia would to be qualified to be president. There is way too much reading involved. In the Bush's case they rely on "yes men" to tell them what they need to know. Look what happened with George. Remember, George never read that August memo in 2001. Can you imagine that? Well it happened.
No one I know personally, dyslexia or not, would be qualified to be president. Those qualified are few and far between. I do know people with dyslexia who are professors and doctors and run their own businesses.
DeleteStop saying that dyslexia is an automatic disqualification for the presidency or anything else because they can't read or whatever it is you're trying to say. It's really insulting.
I know you think you're helping and bringing awareness is a great thing, but coupling it with the idea that they can't accomplish anything intellectual because they can't be "well read" is just not true.
I also understand that you are super focused on dyslexia because of your own family, but come on already.
Either George is lying about not reading the memo or George was a lazy, good-for nothing, figurehead of a president who couldn't be bothered to read the memo.
DeleteJack Kennedy was pretty well-read. So was Sir Winston Churchill. Did some writing, too.
DeleteIn another time and place, that would be taken as a humorous, self mocking comment from a man who recognizes the futility of continuing the struggle.
ReplyDeleteUnderstand, that the combination of not reading blog comments and being so privileged that yes men tell you what you need to know can make for some idiotic verbage.
DeleteWord salad from overwise intelligent people is not normal.
That is what I thought 6:38. Bush is going to have some fun before it's done. Why not make a joke at his own expense.
DeleteI really have a hard time believing Jeb! really wanted to run this time.
DeleteHe doesn't strike me as the type who wants to 'have fun.' None of them has a sense of humor..none of the Bushes. Can you see Cruz cracking a self-deprecating joke? Or Christie?
DeleteThey are all robots.
Who would've ever thought that Dumbya would turn out to be the smart one in that family?!
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's a toss up. Who can forget "heckuva job, Brownie!" and he nothing more than Cheney's lap dog.
DeleteHow bout, "I'm the only candidate whose own mother is on the one dollar bill!"
ReplyDeleteSorry. I know I'm going to hell anyhow.
Really? The one dollar bill? So that's *not* her on the box of oats?
DeleteROFLMBO!
DeleteSee ya' down below!
JJ
In uttering those words "mission accomplished ", take a seat governor, your work here is done.
ReplyDeleteGood flippin' God. Go home! I cannot believe that his wealthy donors are still giving this man money? Unbelievable. He's so clueless and out of touch with reality. What has he been doing for the last nine years? If he really thought his brother did such a fantastic job at president, why didn't Jeb jump in in 2008? 2012? Why? What were those cool things he was doing back then that he couldn't be bothered with having to run for president and continue W's policies? Because that's what he wants to do now.
ReplyDelete"why didn't Jeb jump in in 2008? 2012?"
DeleteAmericans have short memories, but not THAT short. Even JEB! knew that 2008 & 2012 were too soon to campaign as "Brother of Worst American President in Modern Era". What he failed to understand is that even if he waited until 2112 it would be too soon.
How many millions upon millions of dollars was squandered on this loser? Quite a return on the investment. This is not funny, it is pathetic.
ReplyDeleteDarn straight. His own mother said that the last thing this country needs is another Bush in the WH.
DeleteNot squandered, it was spent on salaries, rentals, hookers, etc Lots of economic opportunity in a soon to be failed candidate.
DeleteAmazingly incompetent man. He has political Tourettes.
ReplyDeleteUnless you believe ol jub is stupid or has degenerative brain disease, dyslexia could practically explain why he seems to be completely out of touch. He DOES NOT read, therefore, he is not well read. Nowol jub can read words, but he does not read for his information. Nothing else makes sense to me. To much idiotic stuff comes out of his mouth.
ReplyDeletePayme's also and too.
Dyslexia does NOT effect your intelligence. In actuality, the people can seem savant-like in certain cases because the right side of their brain is stimulated in a way that does not occur in nondyslexics.
If you ever met someone who can seem to fix anything but did not finish high school, there's your sign.
Most of us on this board really do understand the issues surrounding dyslexia.
DeleteThe Bush boys' incompetence and lack of empathy toward anyone but their cronies cannot be explained by dyslexia. Afluenza and bad parenting are the keys to why the Bush sons are such shits. And maybe they are just lazy (now, don't go off on how dyslexics aren't lazy...some of them are and most seemingly lazy people are not dyslexic).
And every time you meet someone who isn't book smart and/or school smart (or who hates school) but is great at other things, that doesn't mean he or she is dyslexic.
If you've ever been around very rich people, you will find that many of them are entitled assholes who were, as they used to say about Dubya, born on 3rd base and thought they hit a home run. Plus mom and dad paid someone to carry them to home plate. If you have that attitude and are surrounded by sycophants, you can get away with saying a lot of stupid, offensive stuff for a long time.
[Yes, I know there are also a lot of hardworking, smart, nice very rich people, but the Bush boys are a certain "type" and they aren't those three things]
+++++++
DeleteHow do you tell if someone is an agnostic, dyslexic insomniac?
DeleteThey're the ones staying up all night wondering if there really is a dog.

DeleteYou can not ignore the fact that Bush 41 and 43 both are known to have dyslexia. Someone on this blog said he knows that Neal does as well. It is very hereditary, in fact, it is a dominant trait.
My source for 41 and 43 is
dyslexiacoachnj
Go to "celebrities who have dyslexia". Jennifer Slaight has received funding from the Barbara Bush Foundation for literacy, therefore, I don't think Slaight would say 41 and 43 have dyslexia when they do not.
Again, affluenza is the root of why W did so horribly and why jeb is a pathetic candidate.
The large majority of people who have dyslexia do not know it and suffer terribly.
I am not putting this out there to help the Bush legacy or explain away why Payme speaks word salad and has ghost writers for her facebook posts.
So why do you keep putting it out there?
DeleteFWIW, I've read somewhere that the reason people thought he was the smart Bush was because he was an avid reader. I believe it was Jeb himself who talked about it, so who knows? Anyway, if he is an avid reader, probably not dyslexic.
DeleteI can't wait until his opponents trot out his daughter Noelle's drug problems. Forging prescriptions for controlled substances is serious stuff, Jebby!
ReplyDeleteThe son's no winner either. Couldn't afford a motel, so he boinked an underaged girl on the hood of a car. What a gentleman!!!!!
DeleteGryphen, you (and me both) were so wrong about this guy waltzing in to the nomination. It just goes to show that there are times when money and family isn't everything. Boy did he blow it.
ReplyDeleteI still think when all is said and done, he might get the nomination. I'm not happy about it, but the GOP establishment is very strong.
DeleteOn the other hand, they may be looking to sacrifice Cruz just like they did McCain.
I felt the same way, i.e., that Jeb would be the GOP nominee.
DeleteGeorge's shortcomings are still too fresh in our minds. Everytime he opens his mouth we think George was actually the smart one.
Yep, Jeb! himself is not feeling the exclamation point about this. Someone told him he'd walk away with the nomination because he was the only sane one, aside from Paul (but too Libertarian) and Rubio (who would never run against his older mentor). Who could have foreseen that the party apparently is not interested in sane? They want crazy! OK, good luck with that ...
ReplyDeleteI despise the Palins like no other public family, but I do feel it's hypocritical to call Bristol a slut when there are some Palmer, Alaskan mothers who got pregnant at age 14!!!. Bristol is a hypocrite but no nore slutty than someone who is having sex once they're barely out of puberty.
ReplyDeleteWhat does Bristol have to do with the behavior of other girls and young women in Alaska?
DeleteWhat does any of this have to do with Jeb Bush?
Really, get it together.
Are you new here 9:06am? Or do you only take offense if a poster halfheartedly defends a Palin? Perhaps you might consider taking your own advice.
DeleteConcern troll is concerned.
DeleteOr confused.
Or lost.
Not at all new, 9:13, but perhaps a little less naive than you.
Delete@10:00
DeleteThere is an easy solution to not reading offense comments on this blog.
If you really have been around here a while, you complaining about it is more annoying that anything else. Go read what Bristol wrote about Miley Cyrus.
Wrong thread, look along the right side and click "Bristol". No one called her a slut, but if they did, they're just being truthful.
DeleteI used to worry that Jeb Bush would become president one day. It just seemed like a given. He had a much different kind of presence back when gov of Florida. I'd actually not change my TV channel and watch him just to get used to what I'd see when he ran or prez. But he doesn't come across at all like before.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDelete"everytime you meet someone who isn't book smart and/or school smart (or who hates school) but is great at other things, that doesn't mean he or she is dyslexic.
http://www.dyslexia-add.org/
George W Bush has dyslexia. That needs to be put out there.
It's insulting to imply that Dubya's problems and disasters were due to dyslexia. There are plenty of people with dyslexia who are intelligent and intellectual, not to mention decent people.
DeleteI don't give a rat's ass who among these people have or don't have dyslexia. The more important thing is that they're petty, murderous, elitist, willfully ignorant assholes. Dyslexia has nothing to do with it. Bo Bushes would have been horrible presidents regardless of dyslexia
ReplyDeleteDyslexics Untie!!!
DeleteJeb! is truly pathetic. Rarely do you see someone so consistently inept. I saw a picture of Barbara Bush standing with her finger by nose and the caption was "My uterus still smells like moron".Gross but true.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, supposedly Jeb! did a really great job last election.
ReplyDeleteAt this point in time between Cruz, Trump and Jeb!, Jeb! is the lesser of three evils, not saying much.
I've been biting my tongue trying my best to not judge him on his relatives, but this took the cake. Jeb, you're supposed to be "the smart one", where's the spanish translation so our hispanic speakers can laugh along with us?
ReplyDeletePack your bags and go home while you still have a shred of dignity. Sorry Babs and Former President George Herbert Bush, I'm embarrassed you've lived to see him make a fool of your entire family.
