Adorable little girl sobs realizing Obama is leaving office. He's the only president she's ever had in her life. Her grandmother comforts her by telling her that they'll write him.
Trust me when I see what the choices are in 2016, I wish President Obama could run for a third term as well.
Update: President Obama responds to his little girl because...well because he is President Obama.
Courtesy of HuffPo:
In a Facebook comment on the video posted by the girl's grandmother, Caprina Harris, the president told the young girl, who shares a birthday with Obama, that once he left office, he wasn't going anywhere.
"Caprina, tell her to dry her tears, because I'm not going anywhere. Once I leave the White House, I'll still be a citizen just like her," Obama wrote. "And when she grows up, she can get involved right alongside me. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye out for her letter, and we'll always get to celebrate our birthdays together!"
And now I'm going to miss him even more.
President Obama responds to viral video of girl crying she is 'not ready' for his term to end

I don't blame the little girl for crying just think many others will too! The GOP has lost their ever {NOT} loving minds way back in 2008 with McCain/Palin. RNC refused to tell her@ss to clean up that nasty word salad that Palin kept on spewing in the air....nah.... the GOP and Teabaggers loved it and didn't try to rein in her@ss! Yes I'll be sad also to see a Great President live office with " GRACE AND DIGNITY " as he did when he came into office!! Yes Mr. President you will be missed. -MistyDew-
ReplyDeleteOoops-leave...duh
DeleteYes, grace, dignity, class, intelligence, maturity, deplorably, describe our illustrious President Obama.
ReplyDeleteHe rises about all of the venom, hatred, racism, and disrespect the Repubs hurl at him and and his beautiful family. He handles it all with class.
I will miss him SO much as our president. I will miss our beautiful first family, Michelle, Malia, and Sasha, and first grandmother Robinson.
Amen and Amen! This is the first time in my life that I have dreaded a president leaving the office. Irreplaceable.

It should read:
Yes, grace, dignity, class, intelligence, maturity, (DIPLOMACY NOT DEPLORABLY), describe our illustrious President Obama.
LOL, I don't know how that word got messed up like that..

I feel so sad that this is his last year in office as our president.
I've often marveled at Pres. Obama ability to stay the good guy with all the lies and vitrol thrown at him. I haven't always agreed with him (TPP!), I will miss feeling safe that values are more important than politics.

What a great response. No wonder every child and baby who meets him seems to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gentleman! He is the epitome of class, and the GOP can't stand it, because they have no one fit to shine his shoes. I will miss him too, but I know he will be advising our next President, and will be doing wonderful things for his family and the world.
ReplyDeleteI am very much looking forward to seeing what he and Michelle do with the rest of their lives. I expect Michelle will come into her own once she out of the White House. Few recognize the magnificent, error-free job she has done as a Black woman who is First Lady.

I feel like that little girl. Very, very sad, and also very scared. I have never felt like this about any of our Presidents. He is simply the best, and I will miss him like HECK when he becomes a private citizen again. He did the best he could do, sometimes I almost think, he did unthinkably well under the circumstances with a Party of NO that put road blocks into his way wherever he turned. They even would go against what they actually demanded from him when he actually *did* exactly what he wanted. Worse than a two year old. I am scared of what our country has become because of the obstructionists. I am scared of who will become our next President. I *hope* that it will not be someone from the Clown Car. But I also know that if it will be either Bernie or Hillary, the obstructionism will continue. My only hope is, that either one of them will be even half as dignified and resstrained as he has been.
ReplyDeleteThank you, President Obama! Even though I am not 100% happy with what you have done, you have absolutely done your best.
President Obama is going to be missed! Truly a wonderful man who has been an outstanding POTUS!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'll continue doing meaningful things for Americans in the years to come.
I try really hard not to worship this handsome, intelligent man :) But as a president, it is a comforting feeling knowing he is at the helm.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind at all if those poor wingnut theories of him being a Muslim and was going to do away with voting altogether and take over as dictator. I could live with tha!

Today, I am grieving the loss of his steady hand already. That Trump seems poised to take over -- no, hopefully not the Presidency -- but poised to continue to give voice to a sickening percentage of Americans who are slavering over him like he's a cold beer on a hot day.
ReplyDeleteBut I am grieving even more the never-ending partisanship & rabidness of the political scene. I've seen eleven presidents come and go. My father was an an angry GOPer his whole life and thought it would be the end of the world if Adlai Stevenson had won in 1952.
When Eisenhower was elected, I said to my 11-year-old classmate whom I knew was a devoted Democrat, "I guess you are really mad about a what happened in this election."
He said, calmly, "No, America is a Democracy and I respect how they voted." My political eyes were opened that day that civility was possible and admirable.
What I've seen develop over the past 15 years politically is the steady decline of democracy (2 stolen elections by Bush II, gerrymandering, voter suppression, Citizens United etc.) and, well, simply the lack of civility and respect in politics. That Bernie Sanders seems to be vilified for trying to bring it back baffles me no end.
The internet is two-edged: we were more naive back then and, perhaps, happier, but now we know who farted and when and how this will be the end of Everything We Hold Dear. Death to the Other Side.
Even some IM commenters are calling anyone who dares voice the slightest of reservations about Hillary's campaign or baggage a traitor or a BernieBro or "the horrible Other Side", or trolls. My Side, Right or Wrong! and will brook no discussion.
I am "this close" to not opening my campaign news sites.
Are any of you as turned off by the vicious crap as I am?
Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump are running for POTUS on talking points. Policy? Neither the slavering Trump fans nor the Bernie bros are much interested in policy.
DeleteI bet Sarah Palin is sorry she didnt' jump in since it's so easy and you don't have to take any responsibility or know anything.
Barb, yes.
DeleteEach time that I've viewed this vid, baby girl drew my own tears too. I can definitely relate...because depending on who gets in,
ReplyDeletethe next Administration could be critically devastating.
I love POTUS with all kids, but this one had me starting to tear up. She'll get that letter, and kudos to Granny for making this a "teachable moment" and suggesting she expresses herself in writing to the President.
ReplyDeleteI feel like that little girl, "I'm not ready for a new one." I hope Obama invites her to the WH. With that much
ReplyDeletelove she has for him she deserves a big hug.
He doesn't seize to amaze me. I'm Brazilian. And even I am already missing him as the president of the United States, specially given the options (Trump?! Cruz?! You serious???). A few days ago it occurred to me, "damn, the most powerful nation in the world... we won't have such an intelligent, involved, human president and first lady anymore." Like you, I wish you could ellect him for a third term. Being grown ups suck.
ReplyDeleteI relate to this little girl. I want to cry myself when I think what could be replacing our great president. Yes, I meant to say "what" and not "who."
