It's going to be a little hard or Donald Trump to restart America's torture program if the torturers refuse to torture.

Courtesy of Newsweek:

Donald Trump would face huge resistance at the CIA if he were elected president and ordered the spy agency to resume waterboarding—or “worse,” as the Republican candidate has repeatedly pledged.

John Rizzo, who was a top CIA lawyer during the time the agency used “enhanced interrogation techniques,” or EITs, on prisoners, predicts CIA officials would rather resign than obey orders to revert to “hard measures” like waterboarding and beatings.

“I think certainly many of those who were connected to the EIT program over its six years’ span—and hundreds are still there—would‎ resign or retire rather than have to go down that perilous road again,” Rizzo tells Newsweek. “Who could blame them?”

As pretty much everybody, who is not Donald Trump, knows torture not only does not work, but it is against EVERYTHING this country stands for.

And the very idea that Trump wants to take America back to the shameful days of the Bush administration should disqualify him from any consideration as our Commander-in-Chief.

However since we have apparently been thrown into some kind of alternate reality, it hasn't.

And because it hasn't we also get to hear the ignorant things that Trump has to say about the Pope:

In an interview with Fox Business Network, Trump was asked about Pope Francis’ visit to Mexico, where he intends pray with undocumented immigrants and immigration activists and celebrate Mass along the U.S.-Mexico.

“The pope is a very political person,” Trump said. “I think he doesn't understand the problems our country has. I don't think he understands the danger of the open border that we have with Mexico.”

Trump then implied that the Mexican government forced the Holy Father to take a stand on immigration.

That's right because Mexico has so much control over the Pope, right?

But it doesn't make any difference, this will not damage his poll numbers either because you know, that whole alternate reality thing.

People exploit the prestige of popes for political gain. It's been that way for centuries.

Glenn Beck Goes Nuclear on ‘Narcissistic Psychopath’ Donald Trump: ‘Four Years of This Bully Will Lead to Civil War’

Glenn Beck unloaded on Republican presidential contender Donald trump after Saturday night’s debate, characterizing him as a “narcissistic psychopath” who is in desperate need of a “diagnosis.”

“Tonight’s debate is the most uncomfortable, angry, hate-filled 2 hours I have ever experienced,” Beck wrote on Facebook. “Is anyone else shaken by this? I found it seriously and deeply disturbing.”

“The psychiatric community needs to step up and address what we are witnessing,” continued the conservative personality, who has endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. “This man is a narcissistic psychopath. That is NOT name calling, that is a search for a diagnosis. If he is not then he is merely a game show host that is trying to get ratings. If that is true, that, in and of itself, is a sign of a deep disturbance.” “I believe, if this is not the eye opening moment for America on who Donald Trump is at the core, this country is surely lost,” he wrote. “Four years of this bully will lead to civil war or worst. The poison that is being injected into our body couldn’t be more toxic.

Who has seen Sarah Palin with him of late on the campaign trail? I've not! Think Trump has figured out that she is the 'kiss of death'.

He's going down - was horrid in the recent debate - he's one putrid hunk of fat!

Loved hearing him booed (A LOT) by the crowd at the debate. He's not use to that at all. I find it way past time he take every bit of negative he has coming his way. He's created it all himself!

He's going to end up going away eventually with his tail between his legs!

Yes, I agree. Babs Bush doesn't care much for Sarah. Remember ma Bush saying that Sarah should 'stay in Alaska.' She doesn't think much of Sarah apparently. But that could have been because Babs saw Sarah's popularity several years ago as a threat to Jebya.

Mitch McConnell is speaking the exact same 'hate speech' he did right after President Obama won the first time! They truly are a sick, sick party!

Elizabeth Warren Humiliates Mitch McConnell For Threat To Block Obama SCOTUS Nominee

Senator Warren said in a statement, "Senator McConnell is right that the American people should have a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court justice. In fact, they did - when President Obama won the 2012 election by five million votes."

Hillary Clinton Schools Republicans with a SCOTUS Confirmation History Lesson

Hillary Clinton reminded Republicans that President Obama is president until January 20, 2017 and they have a responsibility to vote to confirm Obama's nominee to replace Justice Scalia.

Hillary Clinton called Senator Mitch McConnell’s statement that the next president, not President Obama, should appoint a successor to Justice Scalia “disappointing” and “totally out of step with our history and our constitutional principle.”

Speaking at a Democratic fund-raising dinner in Denver, Mrs. Clinton denounced Republican presidential candidates and the Senate majority leader’s pledge to not allow Mr. Obama to replace Mr. Scalia, who passed away at a West Texas ranch on Saturday. “For any of us who needed a reminder of just how important it is to take back the U.S. Senate and hold onto the White House, just look at the Supreme Court,” Mrs. Clinton said.

“I know that our thoughts and prayers are with the Scalia family tonight and I am also thinking and praying for the future of our country,” she said. “It is outrageous that Republicans in the Senate and on the campaign trail have already pledged to block any replacement that President Obama nominates”

“Barack Obama is the president of the United States until Jan. 20, 2017,” she continued. “That is a fact, my friends, whether Republicans like it or not.”

And he has a Constitutional duty to nominate a successor to fill that vacancy, just as Republicans have a duty to give that nominee a vote. It's up to us to make sure they understand that duty and carry it out.

Chuck Schumer DESTROYS Ted Cruz Over Vow To Block Obama SCOTUS Nominee (VIDEO)

...Appearing on This Week on Sunday morning, the Senator laid into Cruz’s plans:

“Well, the job, first and foremost, is for the president to nominate and for the Senate to hold hearings and go through the process. You know, the Constitution, Ted Cruz holds the Constitution when he walks through the halls of Congress. Let him show me the clause that says president’s only president for three years.”

After making his point about Cruz, Schumer then turned his attentions to Mitch McConnell’s obstructionism.

“You know, the kind of obstructionism that Mitch McConnell’s talking about, he’s harking back to his old days, you know, he recently he said, well, ‘I want regular order.’ But in 2010, right after the election or right during the election, he said, ‘My number one job is to defeat Barack Obama,’ without even knowing what Barack Obama was going to propose. Here, he doesn’t even know who the president’s going to propose and he said, ‘no, we’re not having hearings, we’re not going to go forward to lead the Supreme Court vacant at 300 days in a divided time.’”

“This kind of obstructionism isn’t going to last. And you know, we Democrats didn’t do this. We voted 97-0 for Justice Kennedy in the last year of Reagan’s term. I think first the American people don’t like this obstruction. When you go right off the bat and say, ‘I don’t care who he nominates, I am going to oppose him,’ that’s not going to fly.”

Indeed it’s not going to fly. These people hate the sitting President so much that they are willing to leave a vacant seat on the court before they let anyone he might nominate through. Senator Schumer is right — no reasonable American would go for this. Let Cruz and the rest of the GOP hang themselves with this one, though. It will only be a matter of time.

One Chart Obliterates The Republican Argument For Obstructing Obama’s SCOTUS Nominee

Here is an easy-to-read chart that even a ten year old can comprehend, which shows that the Senate has managed to confirm a presidential nominee for the Supreme Court in a mere 19 days, so it's hard to understand why Republicans feel they can't possibly get this done in the next 342 days.

How Long Does It Take to Confirm
      a Supreme Court Nominee?

The death of Justice Antonin Scalia has set off a partisan battle over whether the Senate will confirm a successor nominated by President Obama, whose term expires in 342 days. The Senate has never taken more than 125 days to vote on a successor from the time of nomination; on average, a nominee has been confirmed, rejected or withdrawn in 25 days.

If ever elected (which I seriously doubt), I think the office of POTUS would kill him - hearty attack. Seriously doubt the man would be able to handle the pressure and hate speech he'd hear daily - because he - above all others would get a lot of it and know he'd never be able to take it!
