Well this sucks.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

In a major victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Thursday sided with a broad coalition of gun owners, businesses and organizations that challenged the constitutionality of a Maryland ban on assault weapons and other laws aimed at curbing gun violence.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit said the state's prohibition on what the court called "the vast majority of semi-automatic rifles commonly kept by several million American citizens" amounted to a violation of their rights under the Constitution.

"In our view, Maryland law implicates the core protection of the Second Amendment -- the right of law-abiding responsible citizens to use arms in defense of hearth and home," Chief Judge William Traxler wrote in the divided ruling.

Provisions that outlaw these firearms, Traxler wrote, "substantially burden this fundamental right."

Gee I hate to disagree with the U.S. Court of Appeals, but I am pretty confident that when the original 2nd Amendment was drafted the authors had NO idea that something like semi-automatic rifles was waiting down the road.

The second line of the Declaration of Independence states that our unalienable rights include "Life,. Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

Well I have to say that a bunch of microscopically hung ammosexuals running around with semi-automatic weapons negatively impacts at least two, if not all three of those.

Seriously how many classrooms full of young children, moviegoers in their theater seats, or mall shoppers have to be slaughtered before we pull our heads out of our asses?

"The Second Amendment -- the right of law-abiding responsible citizens to use arms in defense of hearth and home..."

I'm pretty sure that's not what the second amendment says.

Thanks, Founding Fathers, for not foreseeing hand grenades and assault rifles. You've rendered this country a war zone while everyone pursues their life and liberty.

While they espouse their "god given" rights and do not emulate Jesus whatsoever.

The 2nd Amendment says nothing about the types of weapons, and does not prohibit the government from regulating the weapons and ammo for sale. The 2nd Amendment also does not prohibit background checks and licensing dealers. The 2nd Amendment does not prohibit requiring safety devices or mandating safety classes for potential owners. In fact, the 2nd Amendment REQUIRES the citizen to to be part of a well organized militia, something most gun owners prefer to overlook.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

In DC v Heller (2008),the Supreme Court held that the right to bear arms in the second amendment is an individual right. That finding made moot the argument that the second amendment ties gun ownership/possession to being part of a well-regulated militia. The only way to change that now is to amend the Constitution.

Correction: A future Supreme Court could hear a case about gun rights or a future gun law and overturn DC V Heller.

Does this means Dakota is the father? Blue collar working making $100,000 in construction plus $37,000 in disability? Wow, I have a master's degree and make less than half of what he does. College and Grad school does not pay off.

    1. Maybe you should have listened to Sarah Palin and eschewed college for trade school. Willow probably makes three times what you make. And Bristol, who probably didn't even finish her training makes even more than that.

If you're only going to college to get a job later, you will be disappointed. College is about individuation ultimately.

I don't think he works construction. I think he owns the company.

Always felt bad for Levi, wasn't even out of high school and his carelessness cost his plenty. It's not just the money that you will be paying for the next 18 years at minimum, but you will always be "attached" to this person and their family as long as you have a child together. You cannot undo their bad influence on you child. All men need to learn that there are seriously long term consequences of unplanned pregnancies. The lesson isn't just for women.

Memo to merchants: I spot a weirdo hauling an assault rifle or any gun power in your establishment and I will leave my cart where it is an exit. These wingnuts shoot body parts off themselves. They are not safe to be around.

If this case is taken to the Supreme Court, and it will be, will Scalia remember what he wrote in the majority opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller or will he have changed his mind, or as some might say "He evolved on the issue"?

Don't believe me. Believe your own lying eyes:

Scalia: Nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.

If this trend continues, they'll all be born with the business end of their doohickey's looking like a belly button with testicles. At some point, they'll only be screwing themselves even if they have a partner, one could only hope that day comes soon. I'm a bit ticked off because two of my neighbors decided to end an argument by shooting each other's parked cars. No one got hurt or killed, but I never dreamed something this stupid would happen here, so glad we're moving to our retirement home soon.
