Ben Carson claims that he did not want to endorse Donald Trump but he offered him a job once elected, which is illegal.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

Dr. Ben Carson, who endorsed Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy on Friday, appears less than enthusiastic about that decision. And the real reason the unsuccessful GOP presidential hopeful endorsed his former rival could be a violation of federal law.

Carson then said that Trump had promised him a role in his administration, “certainly in an advisory capacity.” Asked by NewsMax’s Steve Malzberg whether this meant a cabinet position, Carson declined to “reveal any details about it right now, because all of this is still very liquid.”

Carson also reveals in the interview that he would have rather endorsed  John Kasich or Marco Rubio, but he did not see either of them winning the nomination.

So apparently Donald Trump's advisers failed to explain this US Legal Code to their candidate:

Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

I imagine that Trump would simply laugh off a fine, but jail time, THAT could really put a crimp in Trump's plans for his next reality show "The Apprentice to the Man who was a Presidential Candidate and has a Yuge Penis."

And of course this also essentially proves that Trump is making deals with people to get their endorsements.

I imagine he offered Chris Christie the Attorney General position, Joe Arpaio Secretary of Homeland Security, and Sarah Palin Secretary of Going into Fake Labor.

Seeing Donald charged would be a good way for "the establishment" to get rid of him. Let's see whether anyone pursues this.

    1. Good point - there may be another fix in the offing.
Ben Carson may have his uses, after all. Or, The Donald will have made him another deal to deny the offer. "I misspoke," Carson will say, grinning stupidly, his eyes shut tight.

No, it will be who will be "the lawyer" to see to it he has jail time.

    3. Not gonna happen. After all, they only have Ben Carson's word for it. And he's hardly a dependable source.

I have no doubt Trump did this. I also am convinced he made a similar deal with Christie for his endorsement.

But the trouble will be in proving it.

On another note, Obama has made his choice for Supreme Court Justice. A good one. It will be interesting to see if the GOP decides they'd rather have Obama's moderate pick than take a chance on Trump's pick or heaven forbid Hillary's pick. Because they're going to have to confirm someone.

Better the devil you know. (Aside from the fact that they had no problem confirming him before and actually like the guy. He's a man, he's a moderate and he's white. I'm not sure they'll do better than that.)

  2. Trump will just say, "Their word against mine. Nothing is on paper." And he will squirm out of it, just like he is not going to be indicted for inciting violence. The fix is probably in everywhere, already, with this POS.

I am sure you are correct, Trump was probable on phone and told Carson to keep his mouth shut, that there is no job offer.

Let's see if we see Carson on the campaign trail after this.

the Donald also has his volunteers sign a non-compete clause:

Donald Trump makes his volunteers sign their political lives away

If there’s one thing we know about Donald Trump’s organization, it’s that it’s over-the-top litigious. In business dealings, Trump’s go-to strategy is to test the law’s limits and dare his less-powerful opponents to challenge him in court.

It appears as though Trump is running his presidential campaign much in the same way.
According to the Daily Dot, not only is Trump making volunteers submit to background checks and sign non-disclosure agreements (as had previously been reported), but he also makes them sign a contract that includes ridiculous and possibly unenforceable restrictions that could potentially extend for the rest of Trump’s life.

    2. If Trump becomes President, other countries/allies will deal with the U.S. as they would personally with a snake. They will want to strike first, before he does.

How soon before the U.S. is seen as an enemy country and ganged up on in U.S.-excluding treaties and blind-sided.

Every season in Survivor, contestants who can't
get along, have no social game, are seen as cheats, blowhards, untrustworthy sociopathic narcissists & angry bullies never win. And they will blame anybody but themselves when they are voted out.

This makes sense why Sarah Palin didn't rush to her serious injured husband’s side who is intensive care with broken ribs and collapsed lung.

The post above explains why Sarah stayed with Trump when her husband needed her.

Did Trump offer Sarah a cabinet position in his administration if she stumps for him?

This makes sense why Sarah stayed with Trump while her son was locked up behind bars for domestic violence.

Sarah Palin what did Fuhrer Trump offer you to keep you away from your family?

I so wonder about a woman who would not immediately attend to her husband and family in such a situation. She has children under 18! What was she thinking? I can only surmise she really needs the money. Or she thinks when she becomes Trump’s secretary of state she can spin her lack of sentiment toward her family as some kind of “strength of mind” narrative. With Palin and Trump up is down and down is up.

Seriously now. Just what did he promise $arah? We know it as something she wanted because there always has to be something in "the deal" for her.

Trump's campaign is nothing but "the art of the deal." He knows nothing and cares naught for governing our nation.

    1. I really doubt he promised her anything. Why would he? She seems to be putting much more of an effort in trying to stay stuck to the bottom of his shoe than he seems to be in keeping her around.

An actual candidate who has some delegates up for grabs? Sure. Yappy squawky Palin begging for camera time? Meh.

      Doesn't mean squat.

      She'll never get it.

Drumpf is not one to keep promises.

      It will serve her right.

Of course, Drumpf isn't going to *be* the next president so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Trump: Cruz is a Canadian and can't run for president

Trump: Hillary Clinton is a criminal and can't run for president

Obama/Cruz/Hillary: Donald Trump can't run for president. He is a criminal for offering jobs in his administration cabinet for endorsements if he is elected president.

Sarah Palin stumps for Trump and does not immediately leave Donald Trump's side when her son is arrested for domestic violence or when her husband is in serious condition in the hospital.

      Ginger,

Obama isn't sloppy like Drumpf. If there were understandings or discussions about the possibility of nominations to cabinet-level position, that's not the same thing as a promise of a job.

      Your pal, Maryanne.
      And the professor, also too.

    4. Anonymous2:57 PM

I agree with you Ginger. The difference is that both Obama and Clinton are bright enough to not tell "the public" about their discussions. Discretion is not part of either Trump's or Carson's innate or learned behaviors.

And these are not the only politicians to ever engage in this sort of dealing. It's called part of "business as usual."

Like it says in The Constitution: "These laws apply to everyone with few exceptions."

Drumpf's just lucky he's apparently one of the exempt ones.

Plus Carson is lying. Drumpf NEVER promised him a job.

Drumpf said "I have job for you, Benji: go into the other room and bring me back a Diet Mr. Pibb." Carson didnt hear it right.

But if Drumpf did promise Carson a job it was obviously a performance piece in the fictional Donald Trump TV reality show character.

Plus, it's the fault of an aide - possibly with ISIS affiliations - who's already been fired and who will NEVER work at a Trump property or in a Trump business again. EVER!!!
