Bernie Sanders to appear on Fox News in town hall debate, alone. Update: Hillary will appear.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Fox News is not usually the destination of choice for Democratic candidates seeking to spread their message, but Bernie Sanders has agreed to participate in an hour-long town hall hosted by the network here on Monday.

Anchor Bret Baier announced Thursday that the presidential hopeful would appear with him and said that Hillary Clinton had also been invited but declined because of “a scheduling conflict.”

I have to say that I can understand why Bernie sees this as a good opportunity.

I do.

After all he gets an audience all to himself, that would very likely NEVER listen to anything positive that he had to say.

But I still feel that it's wrong.

First off the chances of even a handful of Fox News viewers casting their vote for a Democratic socialist in the general election is negligible.

But secondly, and more importantly, this is a cable news outlet who has been attacking the liberals, the Democrats, and especially the Clintons since the minute they came on the air.

They made their bones reporting on the Monica Lewinsky scandal, helped to steal the 2000 election away from Al Gore, and have attacked President Obama non-stop since even before his inauguration.

Fox News is not inviting Bernie Sanders on because they are "fair and balanced," and want to host candidates from both sides of the aisle, they are inviting him on because he is a threat to Hillary Clinton and that makes him their ally.

And any ally of Fox News.......

Update: Courtesy of Mediaite

And now tonight, Fox News has confirmed that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be joining her Democratic rival in the Detroit event, just one night after the two square off in a CNN debate from Flint, Michigan.

Oh.

Never mind.

(Still think it's a bad idea for her to give Fox News any credibility though.)

It is a mistake for Democrats to go on Fox. Fox so-called news is evil, racist, they lie, and have lied on and slandered President Obama since he's been in office.

I wish Sanders had not agreed to that. It is a grave mistake on this part.

Well, millions of liberals tuned into Fox News last night to watch the latest Republican debate, so why not tune in to watch one of your own on Fox News, hmmm?

Face it, except for that last stubborn and staunch liberal hold out, Rachel Maddow, ALL of the cable news channels are Fox News now.

I think most liberals who are matched the "debate" (and I use the term loosely), watched it for pure comic entertainment. And, we were not disappointed.

I am so sick and tired of these hit and run comments made here and on television that Hillary is a criminal and will be indicted, but too chicken to say indicted for what.

Most likely because they have yet to find anything and will continue to dig for the next 8 years looking for something.

Indicted for what???? Spending tax payers money for another Benghazi hearing, how about more tax money spent for reading her emails.

The republicans are the ones going to be indicted-Christie for starters.

Her heart's on her sleeve for Bernie.

She recently complained that she never felt that President Bill Clinton had her back as a gay woman (therefore she felt negatively about him). I guess that might have some impact on how she feels about Hillary Clinton) but I couldn't help thinking back to when I was young and our presidents were sending our young men to fight and die. Have your back much?

I'm glad Bernie is doing the town hall and I think Hillary should join him. By not doing so, she appears as cowardly as the Republicans who ignore Rachel Maddow's invitation to appear on her show. Yes, we all know what Fox "News" is -- unlike Rachel Maddow, it is not interested in the truth, it is a totally biased, right-wing pantering, full of shit outfit.

But Bernie is brave and determined enough to take his message there anyway. He is not going to miss any chance to get it out there. Period.

    Hillary isn't.

What does that say about her commitment to message?

I support Hillary Clinton because she is the most intelligent, most experienced, and most capable person running for President. She has dealt with and beaten, the insane RW her entire career. She knows the world leaders, who respect her, unlike the creepy GOP, who write traitorous letters to foreign leaders vowing to undo any agreement they reach with this administration. Lord, anyone who supports the GOP is just as bad as they are.
I will vote for either Bernie or Hillary, as the GOP is evil.

3:57 I'm with you. I support Hillary for her experience in foreign affairs. I like what Bernie says and I'd love to see his economic ideas in place, but I think she has the edge in experience.

Either is so far above any of the Republicans they need to be plotted on a logarithmic scale to be on the same graph.

I am not seeing how HRC is the more experienced, unless my my math is wrong here.

This is what I found with my own research---

      1981 Mayor (re-elected 3 times)

1991 Representative, served 16 years as congressman
      2006 Senate for two terms

Bernie has held public office since 1981, starting as Mayor where he was re-elected 3 times. He then was elected as a Representative, and served as 16 years as congressman. In 2006 he started in the Senate, where he is currently in his second term.

Much Hillary bashing on the popular all
night radio show called COAST. 10:00pm
to 2:00am. On some stations until 4:00am.
World wide. Last night the guest called her a liar. Also said there was something wrong with her mentally. Said she craves attention, is narcissistic and will always be connected to Wall Street . I was shocked
at George N. His show is normally awesome!
People who cannot sleep, have the night shift, truckers and new parents staying
up all night with their fussy new born.
People call in and tell George N. that his show got them through the worst time or times in their lives. He never indorses
anyone anywhere . I was so disappointed
that George N. allow these male guests
to keep grinding and grinding on her mental status. Check it out folks.

The primary in Michigan is coming up soon. We've voted by absentee ballot. Yesterday afternoon Bernie Sanders came to town. We did not attend but we did go to a local brewery where delicious salads and pizzas are also featured for dinner because we were on our way to a performance at Interlochen Arts Academy.

Long introduction but it's all to say that, while Bernie did not get our votes, we were happy to be surrounded by enthusiastic liberal folk at the brewpub where we had our supper. I've always loved going to political events and it's rare for anyone in national politics to venture this far away from metropolitan areas (northwest corner of Michigan's lower peninsula with a population of about 16,000). There is something very American and exciting about seeing one's candidate in person. I understand Donald Trump is visiting Cadillac (another small town in norther lower Michigan). I'm glad we'll be nowhere near for, perhaps, years.

Update. Trump's visit to Cadillac MI was also yesterday. He had large crowds. It is important to realize that northern Michigan, which includes mostly very poor people always votes Republican. i remember driving through small villages in the region where there were no signs of active businesses, only run down farms, closed shops, and substandard housing, but they all sported Bush/Cheney signs along with the requisite signs supporting guns and condemning abortion. Ah, the intelligence of the average Republican voter! So Trump got the larger story - more people in attendance - but at least Bernie Sanders made it to the newspaper's front page also and 2000 attended. Sanders garnered quite a crowd for northwest lower Michigan and I'm sure his listeners heard a lot more about policies than about hand size.
