Hillary Clinton's new political ad aimed at New York primary voters does not seem to be focused on defeating Bernie Sanders.

Courtesy of Politico:

Hillary Clinton is locked in a contested New York primary with Bernie Sanders — but the first television ad she plans to run here is all about Donald Trump.

The 30-second TV spot that will begin airing ahead of the April 19 primary — a Clinton spokesman said the timing of the ad launch in the expensive New York media market was still to be determined — uses grainy footage from a Trump rally earlier this month were a white supporter sucker-punches an African-American protester. Story Continued Below

“When some say we can solve America’s problems by building walls, banning people based on their religion, and turning against each other, well, this is New York. And we know better,” Clinton says while the camera pans over a sign advertising a new Trump hotel that is “coming 2016.”

The ad is clearly aimed directly at defeating Donald Trump in the general which seems to indicate that Clinton is unconcerned with winning the primary in the state she represented in the Senate.

Whether that is good politics or not is left to be seen, but currently Hillary is leading Bernie by wide margins in the polls.

The Quinnipiac poll that came out yesterday has her lead in NY down to 12. Two polls have him winning Wisconsin. He's won 66% of the delegates in the last 7 primaries. I think Clinton is making a big mistake dismissing Sanders to engage Trump.

She's not dismissing Sanders. Considering the fact that Trump is hated by a lot of people and has recently made some really disgusting comments (that Bernie didn't seem to take as seriously), she's being very smart by going after Trump. In fact, it's never a bad idea to criticize Trump.

She's laying groundwork for the General against Trump. Smart!

Not smart. She shifts to the right when she takes on Trump. For example her AIPAC speech was actually to the right of Trump. Which makes it hard to shift back to the left to take on Sanders in NY, PA and CA. She's taking a big risk. She should have her mind on finishing the primary, not the general. People lose by taking their eye off the ball and letting their mind wander to future contests. If that happens, she deserved to lose.

She's dammed if does, damned if she doesn't. If she takes out ads against Bernie, she's "bashing another liberal" and "playing dirty". If she doesn't she's taking voters for granted and dismissing Bernie.

What I have never understood about Clinton is why she never runs on her own merits. Why on earth does she have to put anyone down to make herself look better is beyond me. In my opinion, that is perhaps the most unattractive thing about her. He resume speaks volumes for itself. But, alas, she always falters when it comes to just being herself. Going negative. Shifting right. Speaking sometimes with an accent...sometimes without. Why?!? Guess it's hard to show someone who you truly are when you quite haven't figured out how to simply be who you are.

Hopefully she can make it through the next round of primaries unscathed.

      Voting for Bernie.
      Rooting for Hillary.

Clinton mentioned in one of her speeches about the fine print in Bernie's free college plan- the governors have to agree to contribute money from the state.

That leaves out all the red states.

In Michigan the governor who managed to poison a whole city with lead, leaving those kids lucky to finish grade school let alone college, I sure will opt-out.

Sanders reply was that students will leave those states and flock to states where there is free public tuition.

But, will those states make tuition free for out-of-state students? Are governors and citizens willing to use their money to pay for students whose own states won't pay?

I hope so, but these are important details that are being glossed over.

You hope so? So you won't mind your taxes going up to cover tuition? That would be on top of Bernie's federal tax increase. Personally I see people who actually pay taxes ( only %50 of Americans actually pay taxes) flooding to red states so they have something left of their check to feed their own families.

I hope if some states do this, all states will. And I personally don't mind paying more taxes to pay for social programs and education. I acknowledge that not everyone feels this way, which is why Sanders plan would face a lot of resistance he doesn't seem interested in addressing.

Well the "Snaders plan" has me paying almost 20k more in taxes. I just can't afford that. WE were careful and saved since we were young to be set for retirement and I don't see why that much has to come from my savings and investments. I already put myself and my 6 children through college, I think it's very unfair to have my retirement taken from me.
BTW close to %50 of Americans pay in no federal tax dollars, maybe it's about time those at the bottom 50 pay something.

Those same 50% that pay no federal tax live at or below the poverty level. It amazes me how you are quick to point your finger at the person that's down on their luck yet fail to feel the hands of the real tax cheats that are taking your wallet out of your back pocket -- the wealthier Americans that pay very little to no taxes.

If this generation don't have jobs that allow them to put into the national coffers, and the corporations and wealthier Americans horde their tax money overseas and send decent wage jobs overseas, how in the hell is it the fault or the responsibility of the struggling, low-income American to bear the brunt of everyone's disdain? Turn around and shake your fist at the folks who actually have the money to fix the unbalanced mess their selfishness and greed created.

      It's just basic math.

Love love love the add but I'm concerned. Bernie Sanders is going after Hillary with both guns blazing. I hope she doesn't overlook him. Plus if Hillary Clinton wins then Bernie has tarnished Hillary Clinton and may hurt her in the General Election.

I doubt many people are going to be swayed either way at this point and people who are on the edge might not like Sanders going negative while Clinton is taking on Trump.

Hillary is a master at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It's what she does best other than lie for her men. The question is will Gryph man up and still vote D after his uber crush breaks his heart again or will he vote for Drumpf. My guess is he just stays home doing EXACTLY what he preaches we shouldn't do.

If we don't all get out and vote for whichever Democrat gets the nomination, this is the kind of appalling story that will become more commonplace.

What happened to a mother and her pregnant teenage daughter in Mississippi is truly shocking and horrifying, but apparently an all-too-common occurrence in some southern states.

An illegal document the daughter was pressured into signing by employees of a 'crisis pregnancy center' was sent, along with her private information including medical history and social security number, to local clinics, threatening legal action if she tried to obtain an abortion.

People involved with this story are connected with both Ted Cruz and David Daleiden, the activist responsible for the deceptive Planned Parenthood videos.

Oh if any of the men get elected I think abortion rights will vanish completely. Bernie has made it quite clear that women's health issues aren't important.
If he does get elected it will be assuming to watch all the Bernie Bros and Gals be shocked when they start not being able to even buy birth control.

Hillary needs to go after not only the Republicans running, but also that Independent guy wearing sheeps clothing.
She could start with an ad with Bernie saying women's health issues aren't important and that politicians shouldn't be discussing it and they needed to stick with important issues.

I like it. There really isn't much difference between Clinton and Sanders as far as issues go, but her doing this ad was a smart move on her part. Without mentioning him my name, she shows she has a firmer grasp on NYC's diverse society and it's strengths than the Donald who lives in a bubble and is clueless on so many subjects because he takes his advisor's many words as gospel truth, and honestly, would Donald lie to himself?
