More Republicans are slowly accepting the inevitability of Donald Trump's nomination, but he may have some difficulty finding a running mate.

So it appears that just the other day Marco Rubio, who bitterly exchanged barbs with Trump during the debates, had a slight change of heart:

Rubio reiterated that he’s not making an endorsement but will support the Republican nominee in the general election. He said Trump’s “performance has improved significantly” in recent weeks.

Talk about "damned with faint praise."

Rubio is not the only one who has caved to pressure to accept Trump's inevitable nomination:

“We've had enough intraparty fighting. Now's the time to stitch together a winning coalition,” said Jon Huntsman, the former governor of Utah. “And it's been clear almost from the beginning that Donald Trump has the ability to assemble a nontraditional bloc of supporters. … The ability to cut across traditional party boundaries — like '80, '92 and 2008 — will be key, and Trump is much better positioned to achieve that.”

And to think I used to kind of respect John Huntsman's integrity.

However acceptance of his nomination is not enough to convince a number of Republicans to share the ticket with Donald Trump.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

It’s a time-honored tradition for politicians to deny any interest in the vice presidency. But this year, with the possibility of Donald J. Trump as the Republican nominee, they really mean it.

“Never,” said Chris Schrimpf, a spokesman for Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who is still running against Mr. Trump. “No chance.”

“Hahahahahahahahaha,” wrote Sally Bradshaw, a senior adviser to Jeb Bush, when asked if he would consider it.

“Scott Walker has a visceral negative reaction to Trump’s character,” said Ed Goeas, a longtime adviser to the Wisconsin governor.

Or, as Senator Lindsey Graham put it, “That’s like buying a ticket on the Titanic.”

A remarkable range of leading Republicans, including Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona, have been emphatic publicly or with their advisers and allies that they do not want to be considered as Mr. Trump’s running mate.

No worries, I'm sure that Meatloaf or Dennis Rodman would be more than happy to join the ticket.

Personally I am not sure that there is really any way for the Republican party to coalesce around a clown like Donald Trump.

I think we are seeing the beginning of the end of the Republican party as we know it.

That could be a good thing, or a very very bad thing.

He'll have no problem finding people to VOLUNTEER to be his running mate. Whether he accepts them or not is another story.

For example: No doubt Sarah's serpent's heart is going pitter-patter at the thought of being Trump's VP running mate.

I don't think he would be stupid enough as to select Palin as his running mate!

    2. It's much more likely to be:

      Trump/Christie

      Trump/Carson

      Trump/Gingrich

They've all said they're open to the VP spot.

Since Trump is so hand on control freaky he is going to want a yes-man, weak, wimpy VP who will sit down, shut up, follow orders and won't don anything to contradict or take the spotlight away from Trump.

That leave out both Christie and Gingrich.

I'm not sure Trump would want a black or female running mate.

When you figure in the long list of Republicans who won't have anything to do with him, not even for the possibility of being VP with a future shot at the Oval Office, you might be looking at:

      Trump/Trump

He'll chose one of his kids.

Anon 12:55 Trump uses the "rape" word referring to China today...
Oh I think Sarah got the word to STFU!
Trump's use of the analogy come as Trump is under fire for remarks he made about Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton that critics are calling sexist and for touting the endorsement of boxer Mike Tyson, who was convicted of rape in Indiana.

Trump has claimed that Clinton -- a former secretary of state, senator and first lady -- is using "the woman card" to get elected and that she would not have a shot at the presidency if she were not a woman.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Trump's main competitor in the Indiana GOP primary, slammed Trump for touting Tyson's support, whom Trump referred to as a "tough guy."

"I don't think rapists are tough guys. I think rapists are weak, they're bullies and they're cowards," Cruz said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation."

After all, in many states it only takes 1 Rep. vote for 2 or 3 Democratic votes.

The Republican party is nearly fractured beyond repair. I have conjectured all along since last August that if Trump gained his party's nomination that the party had two choices: destroy it by denying him the nomination and Trump builds his own party wing, runs as an independent and loses to Hillary or they don't contest his nomination in any way but let him sink on his own as the party standard bearer and then begin the process rebuilding a new conservative party which embraces a platform of fiscal conservatism but returns to a more measured approach to social issues and hope to win back house and senate seats in the next election cycle. They know they will lose this POTUS race regardless so the logical course is to start rebranding the party into a party that can offer balance and unity. Trump loses regardless.

Robert Gates Says Trump Has No F*cking Idea What He’s Talking About

Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is not a fan of Donald Trump, and he has no problem telling the American people that the billionaire would be a mistake. On Sunday’s episode of ABC’s This Week, he did exactly that.

Guest host Martha Raddatz asked Gates what he thought about the speech the Republican frontrunner gave on foreign policy earlier in the week and like former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Gates was not impressed:

“I think based on the speech you’d have somebody who doesn’t understand the difference between a business negotiation and a negotiation with sovereign powers. For example, he, on the one hand, says we need to be a more reliable ally to our friends. And then in the next breath he basically says we’re going to rip up all those burden-sharing agreements that we’ve had over the decades with them and make them go their own way if they don’t pay for everything.”

During Trump’s speech he did, in fact, contradict himself. He claimed he was going to take care of our allies, but then he said that many of them aren’t paying their “fair share” and if he were president he would make those countries (mostly in the Middle East) “defend themselves.”

Gates also slammed Trump for his inability to take advice:

That putz George Will said that the Republicans should just let Trump lose and then fight like hell to make Hillary Clinton a one term President. Where have we heard this strategy before? Also, the big money donors are going to throw all their money in the Senate, House and State Governorship races. Census is in 2020 in four short years and congressional boundaries will be redrawn and gerrymandered if we don't get out and vote in the states that elect Governors this year and in two years. We must turn the Senate blue and as many state governorships as possible.

You should be sincere in your beliefs so people know where you stand. If they do not agree with those beliefs, you lose.

It should not be a fool as many people, do what you want, put on a show, get rich, only your personal beliefs, protect only your friends sort of job.

Yeah, we need campaign reform. But we also need a entirely different type of people to run for office.

Politics should not be a reality show, where the basest of human traits is rewarded. (Yeah, I'm talking to you, Survivor.)

Fox News Looks Donald Trump In The Eye And Tells Him That He Can’t Win In November

Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace looked Donald Trump in the eye and told him that he can't win in November with his terrible approval rating with Hispanics....(and women, and gays, and Muslims, and Jews...)

...Fox News tried to puncture the fantasy world of Donald Trump, but all that Chris Wallace got in return was empty promises of how Trump will beat Hillary Clinton.

Here is a newsflash for Trump. Hillary Clinton isn’t Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Scott Walker, Jeb Bush and the other clowns that Trump beat in the Republican primary. Hillary Clinton is at a whole different level. It took a candidate as gifted as Barack Obama to beat Clinton in 2008, and Trump is no Obama.

Fox News and the rest of the GOP better run for the life rafts, because Donald J. Trump is the unsinkable Republican Titanic, who is so blinded by the fog of his own arrogance that he doesn’t see the gigantic Clinton iceberg waiting to sink him.

The President said, “In my final year, my approval ratings keep going up. The last time I was this high, I was trying to decide on my major.”

He's losing a national contest, but he's "liked." No thanks.

So love the humor of President Obama! He's going to be missed.

  31. As for a running mate....all he has to do is promise Chris Christie free donuts and pizza.

    1. I think he already promised Christie the VP slot for his endorsement. That would explain Christie's wife's facial smirks. She knows she is going to have to campaign with the clown and Melania. She is not happy about it.

So, fellow IMers, if the Donald wins the nomination, does that mean Sarah Palin is a winner, too?

Oh goodie, we'd get to read Nancy say "My mom won by a chin, and she wasn't even running".

Trump/Tyson has a nice ring to it. Not a brain among both.

I don't know why anyone would ACCEPT Donald Trump and the way he is - which includes being a bully, racist, liar, fraud, antagonist, anti women (unless they are sexy and physically attractive!) and for being an irritating ugly (both internally and externally) human being!

He's absolutely not qualified to be POTUS in any way, shape or form. The guy is a total ass and does NOT represent the majority of Americans!
