New app will help Americans fleeing Donald Trump's America meet Canadians willing to help them start a new life, and new relationship, north of the border.

Courtesy of the Guardian:

Maple Match is a matchmaking service like none other. In the words of its website, it “makes it easy for Americans to find the ideal Canadian partner to save them from the unfathomable horror of a Trump presidency”. The app, in other words, wants to help Trump-averse singles find love – and perhaps a new country to call home. At the moment, eager singles can sign up for early access when the dating app launches properly. And when it does, many thousands of unhappy Americans and generous Canadians will be paired.

Okay let's see;

"Middle aged loner, with rapier like wit, middling typing skills, and a love for politics. Seeks relatively attractive woman for long boring conversations about religion, frequent trips to the cinema, and brief yet exhilarating fumbling between the sheets. No weirdos, smokers, or secret Stephen Harper supporters need apply."

Yeah, I'm probably stuck here.

    The only thing Trump will be president of is Trump enterprises, he will never be president of the US of America. So just chill out folks.

  2. During the sixties, disgruntled Americans were met with howls of "America, love it or leave it." That comment assumed protestors hated America, when in fact they hated policies that led to war, discrimination, and bigotry. Most of the ideals on which this country was founded remain as salient today as they did during its founding. Many Americans confuse elected officials with America. A McCarthy, Cheney, Trump, Cruz or whomever have enjoyed the benefits of living in America, but they are not America. Unfortunately they can make living in America challenging.

    I periodically consider moving elsewhere, and I may yet. Not because I hate America, but because I do not like the political climate that has become more contentious over the years. I am not so naive as to believe there is any country in the world without its share of political problems. I would like to live in a country in which life expectancy is longer, and where people tend to be happier and healthier. Hard to imagine, but America is not at the top of that list. At my age, my main concern is the security of knowing healthcare is a fundamental right, not an auction item.

    There will be those who will say "good riddance," "get the hell out," "don't let the door hit you in the ass as you leave," "didn't need your kind anyway." And of course, they will have missed the point completely.

      As a child of the sixties I got your point and I respect your opinion. I hope you don't have to leave if you really don't want to but I totally understand why you might.

      It would surprise many folks at the large number of 60's American draft dodgers who have become very successful and influential in Canadian society. Several of them are my friends. If (Dog forbid) Trump attains the White House, I welcome more Americans which we would call Trump Dodgers (I guess). And Gryphen, if I were some years younger, and not happily married, you would definitely have a chance with me!

      TC - I respect your opinion, and I would never say don't leave the US. We've got too many people here and the world is an amazing place.

    A "middle aged loner" and "brief yet exhilarating fumbling between the sheets."

    Oh yeah, that sounds enticing.

      I am surprised Gryphen failed to mention his "manly" need for roomy pj's! We know how important that is to us women.

      Another persecuted believer. "If you're atheist, you automatically hate religion" isn't true.

  7. Gryphen, something tells me you wouldn't have any trouble finding a Maple Match, if you were serious. My only problem is, I'm American. And married.

    Nothing against Canada, I'd pick someplace more exotic. I already have dual citizenship, but I'd rather stay in America. My ancestors didn't have an easy life, and they made it here. But here's the thing, MY roots are here, and I'd never abandon my husband and kids, nor my country.
