Samantha Bee with part two of her examination into the history of the Religious Right.

Okay now I really liked this show before, but right now I am nursing a serious admiration boner for Samantha Bee. (Yes admiration boners are a real thing, that I totally just made up for this post.)

She is not only making me miss Jon Stewart less she has inspired me to write a letter to the folks over tat TBS to ask why in the fuck the show is not on five days a week, instead of once.

Dammit I need more programming like this.

Hell we ALL need more programming like this.

We DO need more programming like this. And by the way, an "admiration boner" is sexist as all hell. You can admire a woman without making it about "boners" you sorry, miserable bastard.

It's the easy unthinking sexism that even "liberal" men simply don't understand. How does a woman express her appreciation of Samantha Bee? Why would a man's appreciation be immediately thought of as how attractive she is to him?
The entire Full Frontal story was about how conservative men have thought up new ways to objectify and control women.
Don't kid, yourself, Gryphen: Hillary Clinton is fighting to be seen as a legitimate candidate, but will always be seen as a woman first by some of you, and she'll lose votes because she's not producing a boner,or isn't a 10 in Donald Trump's world.

Were you purposely baiting us, Gryphen, or is that your post-post defense? I rather think you really never thought about it before. Your response is pathetic, frankly.

      Anon 4:42 and 5:43:
You should learn to be more sex positive and stop shaming people for their sexual interests. Gryphen is attracted to Ms. Bee's intellect and sense of humor and that should be celebrated, not repressed.

Personally, while I like the writing on the show and think Sam Bee is funny--she needs to find something better to do with her jazz hands; the way she plants her elbows at her sides kind of bothers me (unless she's got a disability, then I take it all back.)

Hey, I'm a woman and I don't take offense except at your calling Gryphen a "sorry, miserable bastard". Who made you the vocabulary police? Plus, I've actually had a "boner" or two. I regularly have quantum physics "boners", wildlife "boners" and beer "boners". Just sayin'.
    Oh and fuck Mitch McConnell.

Georgia Peach, the very fact that you had to 'splain that you're a woman and used the "boner" word shows that you don't get what anonymous 4:42 pm was saying. There are many ways to show admiration or respect for a woman that don't involve using a sexual term.

I've bern reading here for several years and Gryphen often uses sexist or misogynistic terms. He also claims to be pro-choice because his mother had him at age fifteen. I personally find that hard to believe, especially when he makes remarks like above. Abortion and pregnancy are often about controlling women and Gryphen is just as bad as many right wingers.

      Bless his heart.

And bless yours. I got it. That we are so fuckin' quick to take offense and feel insulted, demeaned and denigrated, that we object to another's "style" of speech when no offense is intended. And I hear women do it all the time, just like "sorry, miserable bastard". I'm so tired of those who make mountains out of molehills, and lose the point in the doing so.

Georgia Peach, absolutely go for it. I admire you and wish I knew you in real life.

Have you seen the confirmation of Stephen Hawking's theory of black holes? He might now get a Nobel prize.

In addition, the universe is now officially stranger thsn we even thought before.

      Big news, right?

Quantum physics is my first love, always big news, and destined to always become bigger and stranger. And Stephen Hawking deserves a Nobel.

In the early seventies, in the early days of the Jesus movement, when I was a teen, I really don't remember all the political stuff, but it sure got there with the help of Frances Schaeffer and Frank. I love Frank because I can so relate to his book, Crazy for God. It got there within a few years and the love, brotherhood thing began to fade out and the political claptrap took over and the whole tone of things changed. Dragging politics into religion is a huge mistake. Jesus never condoned it. Frank tells it like it is and realizes what he has done. It just brought hatred out in others. It is sad really. How in the hell did these people drag guns into religion too? Really? Nothing says love like a gun.
