Wait, I thought the media were in the pocket of Hillary Clinton?

Well now isn't THAT interesting?

  1. Anonymous2:07 PM

Time to write the heads/bosses of MSNBC and provide this info to them! Chuck Todd needs to be fired. He is NOT unbiased and has been after Hillary Clinton nonstop as to her becoming POTUS.

His viewership/ratings have dropped on MSNBC. In fact, all of their afternoon, daily shows have w/the exception of Dr. Rachel Maddow!

    1. Anonymous3:25 PM

Yes! Let's tell his boss on him!

You honestly don't think they know? Good grief, DC is so interbred and interconnected it's ridiculous.

      Another anti-Sanders nothing burger.

    2. Anonymous4:02 PM

Fuck, Chuck Todd! He looks like a Republican goon! Never watch him!

    3. Anonymous4:35 PM

Hypnosis is the way to go. Control the masses and you win.
      client: Maverick Strategies/2014
      Muriel Bowser campaign

Isn't it obvious? Chuck Todd cheats and should never be allowed to practice journalism again. He is working for his wife's business and that his why her clients are winners. That means that every lie told about Bernie is the truth. You know how that works.

    4. Anonymous6:54 PM

Actually I could care less what Chuckie's boss is thinking about it, buying these interviews like Bernie has been doing is illegal.

    5. Anonymous7:48 PM

When you're a politician you can do illegal things and never be indicted or have to pay any price no matter how hideous your crimes.

Look at big dick Cheney and National Guard Bush for example. Why shouldn't it be alright for Bernie to pay Chuck Todd off?

Btw, what happened to Judith Miller?

  2. Anonymous2:09 PM

Looks like 6 times she got paid to reach that $1.34M.

    1. Anonymous5:44 PM

If her business was hired, they should be paid. However, many times doesn't matter. They just need to be paid.

Can you imagine the fuss if they didn't pay their bills?

    2. Anonymous6:54 PM

Looks like Bernie was buying safe interviews to me.

    3. Anonymous4:03 AM

      Chuck Todd has a WIFE?

  3. Anonymous2:11 PM

Gryphen (and anyone else here that considers themself a liberal): run, don't walk, to get a copy of _Listen, Liberal_ by Thomas Frank (previously wrote _What's the Matter with Kansas?_). It is easy to get sucked into US political and religious echo chambers out here on the Internet, regardless of your affiliation. As a fellow liberal-minded American that has partaken of said internet practices, I exhort you to unplug and read Frank's very illuminating book. Would love to read your review of it here, Gryphen, as I'm confident it would blow your mind.

    1. Anonymous3:12 PM

thanks for that rec to gryphen. i too will read it sometime (summer vacation, after school lets out). you've reminded me of a book i loved some years back called what liberal media? by the so-smart eric alterman.

    2. Anonymous3:43 PM

  4. Anonymous2:13 PM

Figures. They are such all corporate shills now on MSNBC.

  5. 66gardeners2:15 PM

Let me get this straight. At NBC, an employee can not donate family funds to a political candidate, but family funds can be acquired directly from a political candidate. Which is worse? Why, getting family funds directly fund a political candidate would seem worse to me.

    1. Anonymous5:50 PM

I am one of the stupid ones. Can you explain how it is that this is what is going on with Todd, MSNBC and his wife's business?

'family funds can be acquired directly from a political candidate.'

Is there an article or someplace to read the details about Todd's family getting direct funds from a candidate/

Isn't that illegal? If so, when will the start charging the criminals doing all that?

    2. 66gardeners5:35 AM

Chuck Todd's wife is getting paid by Sanders, albeit somewhat indirectly through her business via his campaign.

Campbell Brown's husband, Dan Senor's association with Mitt Romney's campaign caused her a lot of flack for writing opinion pieces, and she had already left media and was a stay-at-home mom.

"I never thought I was harboring a dark secret. But if you live in the overlapping world of politics and media, as I am learning, anything less than full transparency can potentially do you in. There are quite a number of us who inhabit this world of mixed marriages and familial ties (mazel tov to the ABC News campaign reporter who just married an aide to President Obama), and we have all struggled at different moments with the question of how much to disclose about our personal ties.

After a 15-year career in television news, sometimes spent biting my tongue in the name of objectivity and balance, I retired to raise our two small children. I am now basically a very opinionated mom, enjoying the freedom of being able to fully speak my mind.

First, since I am writing opinion and am no longer an objective reporter, different rules apply. It is a bit more challenging for NBC political reporter Chuck Todd, whose wife was a Democratic consultant. But he is on TV so much (deservedly so) that if he disclosed this fact every time he opened his mouth, no one else would ever get a word in."

  6. Anonymous2:16 PM

Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Vermont $955,336

    1. Anonymous3:26 PM

Yes, someone PLEASE explain THAT charge to us. Because we know it is NOT for insurance premiums. Did the Sanders (Bernie and/or Jane) receive services from Blue Cross illegally, and then have to refund them? And WHY would a payment to BCBS be coming out of a POLITICAL campaign fund?????

    2. Anonymous3:29 PM

      Health insurance coverage for staff.

    3. Anonymous5:51 PM

That may be one of the most egregious things Bernie has ever done.

    4. Anonymous6:26 PM

You people are beyond fucking stupid.
      "It's NOT for insurance premiums"
      How do you know that?
      Because you said so?
He has a huge staff, and they have insurance through his employment.
The campaign pays the premiums, because they are employed by the campaign.
      See how that works?

    5. Anonymous7:16 PM

Explanation: It is exactly for health insurance.

At under Committee Candidate Details, Sanders Presidential, Expenditures:

Payee: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont
      Purpose: Insurance

Duh. Clinton buys Aetna for her staff. Same source:

    6. Anonymous7:57 PM

Clinton isn't for the same medical plan as Bernie. Bernie is a hypocrite to buy off an insurance company when he advocates his plan.

Clinton can buy insurance for her staff. Bernie is a hypocrite. It is illegal to buy off an insurance corporation even if you claim it is for your staff.

    7. Anonymous8:23 PM

@7:57, what the fuck are you babbling about?
You can't be that fucking stupid.

    8. Anonymous8:33 PM

So Clinton's expenditures to Aetna for Insurance are insurance for her staff, but Sanders' expenditures to Blue Cross are a buy off because Sanders is in favor of Single Payer.

You have a crippling mental defect.

    9. Anonymous9:03 PM

      8:23 PM

Just trying to fit in with most of this babble thread.

When in Rome or Babylon do as the Babylonians.

There are those that will understand that crap and believe that is how things work. May one of them see how stupid it is.

  7. Anonymous2:27 PM

    Celebrate with Sarah's dick.

GOP Establishment, media and Obama's 'apology lap'

Trump. Where's the shout out for Pearl Harbor. America was great. Melania doesn't agree, she says America IS great.

    1. Anonymous4:12 PM

You will rarely find one bigger than Cheney, dick.

    2. Anonymous6:07 PM

      It is yuuuge!!!!

  8. Anonymous2:27 PM

And why the esteemed Chuck Todd should be booted off Meet The Press. He never has been non-partisan. Watch him on Morning Joke sometime. I hope someone tweets this to him.

    1. 66gardeners5:38 AM

This to address that Chuck Todd has been easy on Clinton.

Whenever Chuck is interviewing a republican who trashes Hillary Clinton in a personal way with outrageous lies, he says absolutely nothing to refute it.

This happens ALL the time with Toad.

  9. Anonymous2:33 PM

Who are we supposed to be mad at? Chuck? Sanders? Kristian? What is the point? Chuck's little woman can't have her own independent career? Chuck hasn't disclosed every time he interviews Sanders? Did we turn on Chuck because he asked Clinton a real question the other day instead of lobbing softballs? Because Chuck's been pretty easy on Clinton: obnoxiously deferential to Clinton at the MSNBC town hall in Vegas.

    1. Anonymous2:47 PM

OMG - he's been so pro-GOP and pro-Sanders that it's not even funny.

    2. Anonymous2:49 PM

What bullshit. He has hammered Clinton non-stop. Today was the first time he even came close to challenging Sanders. And he practically kisses Trump's ass every time.

    3. Anonymous3:05 PM

Were supposed to be mad at the liars who constantly say the media is in the tank for Hillary. Would that be you?

    4. 2:33pm, You a clearly full of shit.

    5. Anonymous3:29 PM

NO ONE in the media has been easy on Hillary. And you should ask yourself: WHY is Sanders paying over one and a third MILLION dollars to the same media firm that advised SARAH PALIN???? HELLO??????????? Is Bernie for real, or is he merely a 'plant' paid for by the right (to divide the votes of democrats), and only pretending to be Don Quixote???????

    6. Anonymous4:13 PM

Mary Matalin and James Carville blame everything on Bill Clinton and his enabler, whats her name?

  10. $1.3 mil ... rather a lot, really.

I believe Chuck Todd has been host of Meet the Press for over a year now, and although I suspect he is not the end-all and be-all of the decision-making process for who his guests are, my data shows that between 5/3/15 and 5/1/16, Meet the Press had Hillary on the Sunday morning program 5 times, and Sanders on 16 times. Trump was on 10 times.

I collected my data from reading the weekly post "Sunday Bobblehead Thread") that Crooks & Liars posts every week about who's going be on the programs that day. While a couple of those data pieces may have been incorrect (guest was scheduled to appear but didn't), I also happen to know, from watching, that Bernie Sanders was definitely on the morning programs more times than Hillary. Lots more times.

BTW the numbers for ABC, CBS and CNN are similar. Bernie on WAY more times than Hillary.

Please tell me again how the media 'blacked out' Bernie Sanders?

    1. Former Sanders Supporter2:48 PM

      Thank you, Marvin!

  11. Anonymous2:46 PM

Lets all take a good look at the Clinton Foundation, a 2 billion (2,000,000,000)+ dollar pay to play enterprise.

And what of those missing emails.

    1. Former Sanders Support2:52 PM

2:46 - the topic is Chuck Todd in the tank for Bernie because his wife profits financially. Are you unable to follow the topic? Deflection with the same old rightwing talking points is lame.

    2. Anonymous3:04 PM

What of them? This is about the constant whining about the media being in the tank for Clinton. Another whine proven to be false.

    3. Deflect! Deflect! Deflect! Pathetic.

    4. Anonymous3:23 PM

Okay, 2:45 PM, I took a look and the Clinton Foundation looks very solid to me. reviewed it in 2015:

Instead of worrying about 20,000 of Clinton's missing emails, why don't you go look for the 20 million Bush/Cheney emails that went missing.

      Your Welcome.

    5. Anonymous3:28 PM

And the FBI has ALL the emails and is reading them.

"Unbeknownst to Clinton, IT firm had emails stored on cloud; now in FBI’s hands"
      Read more here:
Especially the ones between the Clinton Foundation and the State Dept.
Huma and Pagliano drew paychecks simultaneously from both and Pagliano has been given full immunity for his testimony concerning the server in Hillary's residence.

She is hot. At least at one time.

What's sad is, Trudeau's party in Canada has strong ties to China as well.

    - - - - - -

The largest theatre chain in the U.S. is now censored by the Chinese communist regime. The Chinese company that now owns this theatre chain is owned by a high ranking member of the Chinese communist regime who is also on the regime's legislature. Of course the "laws" created by that legislature are just a weapon used by the regime to control, persecute and maintain power. This tycoon is a high enough ranking communist official to be part of that body.
I posted previously about this Chinese company buying the AMC theatre chain, making it one of the largest in the U.S., but I missed this news they have also purchased another U.S. theatre chain, merged them and now control more theatre screens in the U.S. than any other company.
Will this theatre chain exhibit any film that the Chinese communist regime does not want it to exhibit? Absolutely not. The Brad Pitt film Seven Years in Tibet would never have been allowed to screen there for example, along with many other films that the Chinese regime would not want to be shown in the U.S. or anywhere else. The Chinese communist regime will now prevent those films from being shown on 8,380 of the movie screens in the United States.
Recently I posted about that Korean theatre which was pressured by the Chinese regime to cancel Shen Yun's sold out performances just days before the shows were to happen, as the regime does not want Shen Yun to perform anywhere in the world because about 5-10% of Shen Yun addresses China's human rights abuses. Shen Yun is also reviving the real traditional Chinese culture that the regime has systematically destroyed because it sees real Chinese culture as a threat to the communist ideology it uses to control the Chinese people. If the Chinese regime forced a Korean company to commit this immoral suppression of freedom of expression, of course a theatre chain owned by a Chinese communist official will absolutely be under strict censorship and control of the Chinese regime.
I will post a few other articles in the next few days showing other ways the Chinese regime is systematically gaining international control in multiple ways. Our politicians need to wake up and put a stop to these things.

    Marry Up

  17. Anonymous3:33 PM

If the NY Times is any way to judge how the media likes Hillary Clinton, I'd say that the media hates her. For no good or rational reason. I suspect it's because she's well spoken, intelligent, up to date on the issues and not a drama queen. Hillary Clinton is likely, in an interview, to talk about the issues that matter. How boring for the US media. I also think the media dislikes her simply because she's a woman.

    1. Anonymous3:51 PM

I admire Mrs. Clinton and am eager to cost my vote for her as POTUS! She is far better qualified for the job than either Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump!

  18. Anonymous3:36 PM

Speaking of media coverage that is unfair to Hillary, does THIS explain why Andrea Mitchell (wife of Alan Greenspan) always has the knives out for Hillary?????? Hint: Hillary once said that, as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Greenspan had given 'outrageous' advice that not only helped create record deficits, but actually put national security at risk (because the US now has to rely on foreigners to help us repay the debt). This comment was made in 2010: Andrea has been carrying the sword for YEARS.

YES, Hillary has 'balls' – she made that statement while she was Secretary of State. And the white male establishment will. not. tolerate. it.

    1. Anonymous5:01 PM

Doesn't make sense to me that Andrea Mitchell would hold a grudge relative to her husband when Alan Greenspan has publicly confessed his errors and criticized himself.

    2. Anonymous8:56 PM

When did Alan Greenspan as Chairman of the Federal Reserve confess his errors, before or after Secretary Clinton called him out?

    3. 66gardeners5:43 AM

Alan Greenspan being ostracized by the American public is not an apology or public confession on his part

  19. Anonymous3:39 PM

While Clinton takes the weekend off at home in NY, Energizer Bernie is barnstorming California:
    Thursday: Ventura, Pomona, Jimmy Kimmel
Friday: Long Beach, Inglewood, The Young Turks, Bill Maher, Chuck Todd
Saturday: Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Bakersfield
    Sunday:Visalia and Fresno
    Monday: Multiple stops in Oakland

“Most candidates half his age would strain under the weight of that schedule. There was one day where he hit five or six states in a single day. I really don’t understand how he does it,” the staffer said.

The former aide says “it pisses him off if we try to pamper him” and noted his preference for “simple” stops on the road.

    “He’s a Hampton Inn guy, and he’s a diner guy. He’s, like, a Denny’s guy.”

There’s no gym time slotted on his schedule, though he often detours the motorcade to a field, or even an empty parking lot, so he can go for a brisk walk between events, with the Secret Service keeping people at bay. Staffers call these constitutionals “the Sanders Stroll.”

Back home he rides his bike every day, she says, and when the Secret Service protection started one requirement was that the agents have bicycles.

The man is in it to win it.

    1. Aren't you getting tired of jerking Bernie off yet?

    2. Anonymous4:10 PM

How sad since he has already lost & today his 2018 senatorial challenger for Jr. Senator if VT had his first national press interview!

    3. Anita Winecooler4:41 PM

Can't wait for the glitter bombs, who doesn't like a good old glitter bomb holiday?

    4. Anita Winecooler4:46 PM

It's a damn shame what's happened to journalism, or what passes for it.

    5. Anonymous6:04 PM

They were not tired of Bernie in Santa Maria. Not only the talk of the town, I guess the local media didn't do enough.

There would be no Santa Maria without agriculture. Big Oil and rich land owners rule the place, they hate Bernie.

There was an expected maybe 1,000 to go out to see him and 7 to 8,000 in some little place showed up.

Trump and Sarah got all the press and national coverage in San Diego.

What did Chuck Todd do? Bash on Hillary and Trump and only report on what is going on with Bernie in California?

    6. Anonymous6:27 PM

Well, the date for registration was May 23, so it really doesn't matter who sees Bernie this weekend if they are not all ready registered in CA.

Also, repeat business. I'm sure some of the folks are the same at all the rallies, just like the peeps in NY who attended all the rallies--as if they were fans of a band (and they were interviewed by CNN).

    7. Anonymous6:37 PM

You are right meghan. I have heard about some big jerking Bernie off in California. People that don't even watch Fox, CNN or MSNBC. So many Bernie jerks are turning off cable news. That's a big problem.

    8. Anonymous7:36 PM

People I talk to know registration was May 23 and that part. There was little news about where Bernie would be or that he was going to certain places. One place was not scheduled until a day or so before it happened.

From all I can tell it looked like mostly local people or some coming from places not far away to see Bernie. Sure there could have been a few 'just like the peeps in NY who attended all the rallies' types. The local billionaire wealthy media covers what they want the way they want. They don't have to say who will be where. One publication hates the Clintons and they do the same kind of things for them. They are actual billionaires and not like a Trump billionaire.

These are small towns, no one pays attention to what happens in any of them. Except Reagan Country. They pay almost no attention to Bernie. They are not shipping in people from anyplace for Bernie.

When Clinton comes anywhere near here (not a sneaking in visit) no one thinks twice if 10,000 to 12,000 show up.

The underestimated crowds that turned out to be many 1,000 more was only shocking when no one much knew he was going to places. Had it been like Clinton, no one would have thought anything of the crowd numbers. Clinton was about the people. Reagan, before dementia, only hung out with his rich friends. Very small elite groups. More media than you wanted to count and those like Secret Service and agencies. Reagans were like Royalty. The whole deal with that Ranch was like a movie image.

The scene in San Diego area is different.

  20. Anonymous4:22 PM

Wait, I thought the media were in the pocket of Donald Trump?

  21. Anonymous6:18 PM

Who needs journalism? That is old fashioned and dated. Now there is twitter.

Never read another book. Especially biographies or autobiographies. No more Anne Franks. Diaries should only be on Instagram. If Facebook is not lengthy, that might be alright.

  22. Anonymous6:43 PM

Have you seen any biased, anti Hillary reporting from Chuck Todd? Please give examples.

    1. Anonymous6:52 PM

Every interview with Bernie and there have been quite a few but I guess his campaign illegally paid for them.

  23. Today Todd interviewed Sanders on MTP and continued to ask the same questions he has asked over and over and over. Mathematical impossibility. Will you support Clinton? Can you ask your rabid supporters not to become bad people? Emails? On and on. Drill down on why people are so disenchanted with politics. Ask serious questions instead of trying to turn every day into "today's crisis."

Will Indy racers who are behind with no possibility of winning quit the race? Let Sanders go all the way and say what he needs to say. Let him stand up for and speak for those who aren't in love with Clinton but will probably vote for her anyway, as he will support her.

MSNBC is my preferred spin network, but it hardly qualifies as hard hitting investigative journalism. Instead of getting in there and tearing ass, it throws softballs so no one will be so upset that they threaten to boycott.
