Elizabeth Warren, doing what Elizabeth Warren does so well.
Courtesy of the Daily Kos:
You know, we don’t actually know what Donald Trump pays in taxes because he is the first presidential nominee in 40 years to refuse to disclose his tax return.
(Video shows Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio saying there’s a ‘bombshell’ in his taxes.)
Maybe he’s just a lousy businessman who doesn’t want you to find out he’s worth a whole lot less than he claims. We really can’t know for sure. Here’s what we do know. The last time Donald Trump’s taxes were made public, it turned out Donald Trump paid nothing in federal taxes. Zero. Zero taxes before and for all we know, zero taxes today. And he’s proud of it.
A few weeks ago he said that he’s more than happy to dodge taxes, because he doesn’t want to throw his money down the drain. Yeah, Trump likes being a billionaire. But he doesn’t think the rules that apply to everyone else should apply to him.
But let’s be clear. Donald Trump didn’t get rich on his own. His businesses relied on roads and bridges that the rest of us paid for. His businesses relied on workers that the rest of us paid to educate, and on the police force and brave fire fighters the rest of us pay to support. Donald Trump and his businesses are defended by a world-class military that defends us abroad, keeps us safe and the rest of us pay to support.
When anyone builds something terrific, they should be able to keep a big hunk of it, but they should also pay a fair share forward so the next kid and the next kid and the next kid to come along will get their chance to build something too.
That’s how we build a future that works for everyone. And that goes double for Donald Trump, because we know how he got rich. He inherited a fortune from his father, and kept it going by scamming people, declaring bankruptcy and skipping out on what he got.
Nurses, teachers, dock workers—they pay their fare share for the services that keep Trump’s business’s going. Programmers, and engineers and small business owners—they pay their fair share to support courageous first responders.
Donald Trump thinks that supporting them is throwing money down the drain. I say we just throw Donald Trump down the drain. Donald Trump is a fraud, a cheapskate and a bully.
And look. He’s probably going to come up with a bunch of lame new nicknames for me just for filming this video. You know why he does that? He does that to intimidate, to threaten, to make us shut up. But you and I know how to beat him. We don’t back down.
So here’s what we need to do. Whatever Donald Trump says, whatever scam he tries to pull, whatever disgusting thing he thinks he can say because he’s “Donald Trump,” speak out. Talk to the person behind you in the grocery store, talk to the person pumping gas next to you. And yeah, share this video with your friends. Ask your Fox News-loving uncle, “Why do you pay your taxes, but Donald Trump doesn’t?”
If Donald Trump doesn’t even believe in paying his fair share for government, we shouldn’t put him in charge of the government.
If we’re going to build a future that’s not just for the rich and powerful, but a future that’s for everybody, then it’s time for all of us to fight back.”
I swear nobody kneecaps Trump nearly as effectively as Elizabeth Warren.

God, I love this woman.
ReplyDeleteI think that you have way overreacted to Bernie and demonstrably from your posts with some good thinking. But the fact that we have these two in the mix does help soften the blow of people who cannot stand Hillary.
They do not like the name.
They do not like the shrill, which she seems to be modifying...
They do like the fact that the Clintons have survived amidst some very either way politics and ethics blown up by the media because "sizzle" sells.
So there is the long and short of it. I have always gone the mile with your beliefs and values, but we differ a little here. Does not matter.
Meh, Democrats somehow have a problem with Bernie and his "free college" like that was a deal breaker. This coming from a political party that is fine with Welfare/food stamps, ACA healthcare subsidies, WIC and all of the other government handouts.
DeleteI've never quite understood the schism that happened in your party over Bernie because he just seemed to want to push the democrat agenda even further left.
Yeah, because stopping people from dying of disease and starvation in the world's richest country is JUST like free college.
DeleteYou've "never quite understood" an awful lot.
"... This coming from a political party that is fine with Welfare/food stamps, ACA healthcare subsidies, WIC and all of the other government handouts...."
DeleteAnd this comes from someone who seems to forget (or doesn't WANT to know) that the ACA was written primarily by a republican think-tank and first put in place - complete with subsidies - by a republican governor. Maybe you remember him? The name was Romney.
Beautifully said ! It will probably take Trump a month to figure out what she meant.
ReplyDeleteThere's a good reason big donors are reluctant to support Trump's campaign. Well, actually there are a LOT of reasons, but his self-enriching campaign practices are some of the biggest.
ReplyDelete"Through the end of May, his campaign had plowed about $6 million back into Trump corporate products and services, a review of federal filings shows. That's nearly 10 percent of his expenditures."
By using his own buildings, catering, transportation, product lines, and family member-connected companies, he is using his donor's money to expand his own bank accounts.
Wealthy candidates Michael Bloomberg and Steve Forbes were very careful to keep their political campaigns and business interests completely separate but Trump has no concerns about using his presidential bid to make himself even richer.

Well, I guess now we know why he's running. As soon as he's milked that cash cow dry he'll be gone.
DeleteJust another example of the corruption of our political system. You should never be able to profit from politics.
Trump has some chutzpah saying Hillary's donations are blood money, when he is PROFITING and paying himself a salary from his donations.
DeleteI read a comment somewhere tonight that boiled this whole absurd nightmare down to a simple truth.
ReplyDeleteTrump is basing his entire campaign on his superior skills as a businessman. Yet, in the past few days, his campaign has been shown to be understaffed, underfunded, and unstructured.
If the 'best businessman in the world' can't manage the finances, staffing, and organization of a political campaign, and won't listen to anyone who DOES know how to do it, how does he expect to run the country?
Another scary and interesting question related to his business ventures... In the very improbable chance that he might win, how in the world will he manage the all-consuming job of POTUS while still focusing on his businesses. Every other recent president has put all their investments in blind trusts and let someone else handle them. I see every indication that the Trumpster would try to do both, and if the history of his businesses is any indication, he would do both very badly. Example being, he will be going to Aberdeen, Scotland sometime in the next few days for the opening of a golf course he bought. All while his presidential campaign isn't even on life support. Very scary indeed if this fool actually become POTUS.
DeleteNew Polls Confirm Hillary Clinton’s Decisive Lead Over Donald Trump

Trump will lose.
ReplyDeleteHe knows it.
His family knows it.
The Republican " leadership" knows it, which is why they ignore him.
The major donors know it, which is why they are staying away.
Women, gays, veterans, blacks, Hispanics, the handicapped, immigrants and the families of immigrants, Muslims, environmentalists, scientists, true religious believers, Planned Parenthood supporters, college graduates, Right to Choose proponents, sane people, gun limit and registration supporters, Affordable Health Care supporters, tax reform advocates, and economists all over the world, just for openers, know it.
Many of the people that you list will simply abstain from voting this year as there is no strong Republican candidate.
Delete8:27
DeleteMany will be horrified enough by Trump to vote for Hillary. Shit happens.
‘He Didn’t Do It For Terrorism’ — Man Claiming To Be Orlando Attacker’s Lover Comes Forward
ReplyDelete...Miguel described the killer, Omar Mateen, as having been wracked with self-loathing about his sexual orientation, resentment against gay Latinos, and an alcohol problem. He said that he and Mateen met on the gay dating app Grindr the year before and described the two-month-long relationship as one of “friends with benefits.” It ended in December, when Miguel moved away from Orlando.
...Following an assignation with two Puerto Rican men, one of them revealed to Mateen after the fact that he was HIV positive and Mateen became incensed, Miguel said. “He was terrified that he was infected,” Miguel said. “I asked him, ‘Did you do a test?’ Yes. He went to the pharmacy and did the test … it came out negative but it doesn’t come out right away. It takes four, five months.”
“‘I’m going to make them pay for what they did to me,'” Miguel recalled Mateen telling him.

Wrong thread.
Delete@11:11 PM But good info.
DeleteTrump is running his presidential campaign in the same manner that he would run the country. He expects the Republican Party to pick up the tab, while he is funneling money from the campaign into his own businesses. Trump has already promised not wall off his private businesses from his public duties if he wins the White House, so it is clear that Trump would use the presidency to make more money for himself.
ReplyDeleteClinton nailed it with one sentence. Donald Trump’s way of doing business is not to pay his bills. America can’t stiff its creditors. If every American behaved like Trump has, the US economy would collapse.
Hillary Clinton is taking apart Trump piece by piece, and by the time she is done all that will be left of Trump’s legacy will be a tarnished brand name and some reruns of The Apprentice.

You won’t believe all the lies Trump has posted on LyingCrookedHillary.com
ReplyDeletehttp://www.rawstory.com/2016/06/you-wont-believe-all-the-lies-trump-has-posted-on-lyingcrookedhillary-com/
Are things that slow over at the pond that you think any reasonable person would be interested in reading your shit? Really?
DeleteGotta say I loved the expression on her face at the very end.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear she means business.
I hope Sarah Palin is Trump's running mate and I hope John McCain dies in ignominy.
Ignominy. Great name for a hospice for the damned.
Delete"Senator McCain passed away in Ignominy, AZ, on..."
...Yes, Trump will lose in November. But the fact that he got this far in the first place, beating out seasoned politicians in a primary, will matter. Trump managed to get the Republican presidential nomination with an incompetent staff, no real fundraising prowess, and a candidate who is so narcissistic that it makes other politicians look like the humble servants they always claim to be.
ReplyDeleteHe did it with one simple trick: Being racist as all get-out, which clearly wins big with the Republican base. Other Republicans, watching this go down, may very well be wondering how far you could get if you took Trump’s message, cleaned it up a bit, and put real organizational power behind it, instead of motley crew of hangers-on and your own children.
After all, that’s exactly what Nixon and Reagan did: Take the more overt racism fueling the Goldwater campaign, pretty up the rhetoric a bit, and win big.

lol Salon hahahaaaaa
DeleteAs if anyone reads their shit any more.
Who are they pushing now that Old Bernie has tanked?
LOL HAHAHAHA 1:00 AM? Who posts 'shit' while drunk at 1:00 AM? The resident troll.
Delete1:00 - lol purveyor of effluvium. You sound dumb enough to be Sarah.
DeleteThis was excellent! Thank you for posting, Gryph!
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteSo glad we can hear from the voice of reason. Sarah and ilk be damned.
Canning Corey Lewandowski won’t stop Trump from sinking further
ReplyDeleteChanging adviser or shaking up staff won't solve Trump's main liability — himself
...The real problem with the campaign is Trump himself who, regardless of the names on his tiny roster of staffers, ultimately does his own thing, and it’s an unmitigated nightmare for the Republicans.
The centerpiece of the Trump existential crisis is that he’s a one-note candidate. He’s a professional Twitter troll who speaks in superlatives and recess-bully insults and pundit-style horserace poll jockeying (mainly about his own polls). His policies essentially involve Trump saying he’d be “very, very” good at everything — that he’d be a “tremendous” president who, childishly enough, boasts that he “has the best words.” (Congratulations on graduating from kindergarten this month, Mr. Trump.) He’s gained a relatively dinky following by tapping into the derangement syndrome of white Fox News bubblenauts who are fed up with enduring an evil black president who’s responsible for [insert list of wacky conspiracy theories and debunked scandals here].
Somehow, Trump and his inner circle believe their guy can turn his fortunes around by firing Lewandowski, who, frankly, is the least of Trump’s problems.
http://www.salon.com/2016/06/21/crisis_within_his_campaign_canning_corey_lewandowski_wont_stop_trump_for_sinking_further/
Want some Trump news? The campaign is doing a forensic audit on all of Corey Lewandowski's spending.
Deletehttps://twitter.com/MattMackowiak/status/745112064482390016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
7:32 -starting with that weird DraperSterling house!
DeleteSo "the story" is the big meeting that ousted Lewandowski was attended by Trump sons and Ivanka; "he insulted my husband (Kushner), daddy, he's out!" Whether true or not, out he went.
ReplyDeleteBoy if THAT doesn't sound like someone....
Go get him, Liz!
As a pundit said, once you call in your wife and kids to make decisions about your campaign, you're in big trouble.
DeleteToo good to be VP.
ReplyDeleteAgree ^10,000
DeleteOh, just stop posting that stupid comment. since when is VP a step down from senator? The more talk there is for a potential VP slot for Warren, the more media attention she gets. That should tell you something. The only people who post these comments are the same ones saying Clinton should offer it to Sanders.
DeleteThe desperate and delusional Donald J. Trump, currently up on real fraud charges, tweeted this today as well -
ReplyDelete"Hillary defrauded America as Secy of State. She used it as a personal hedge fund to get herself rich! Corrupt, dangerous, dishonest."
He forgot "crooked."
DeleteScared much, Donald?
Trump does not get it. We know Bill Clinton was a womanizer but we also know those women went along with it and it's old news who cares? What was never in question was his smarts and his commitment to the good of the United States, same thing with Hillary Clinton. I have no doubt that anyone who runs for President loves power and has extreme ego, the question is are they sane? Do they have enough self control to match that ego and balance it beyond the power trip.
ReplyDeleteI really believe Trump doe's not have the intellectual capability to handle the most important job there is, nor the maturity. What is he going to do tweet nasty stuff to anyone including our allies? Call them losers?
Trump "Telling it like it is" is not a sign of maturity . He has never been poor in his entire life! Anyone at your local bar can rant and that is what he is Joe Blow at the local bar scratching the surface of "wrongs" spewing out toughness as if it solves everything. Build a wall "Yeah! that will do it!" How? What will it cost umm have you looked at the terrain? well...no but it sounds good!Trump preys on the simple like Palin did, promises that are impossible to keep but sound so good to the poor. How many Hispanic illegals are there making 40 or 50 thousand a year? What jobs are they taking? And if you don't want them here tell businesses to quit hiring them!
Tell the people in AZ. and California to quit going to the Home Depot and a certain street corner to "Pick out" workers for a day on the cheap to do your yard work or clean your houses.
And there you go. Those women were willing, so I don't want to hear it. It's not like he Cosbeyed them.
DeleteI think that Bill and Hillary have always had a "marriage of convenience" meant to foster power in politics for the both of them.
DeleteI think they like and respect each other but aside from that one time they did the nasty in order to create an heir they probably never were intimate.
Then you would be quite surprised to read this May 2016 article by Rebecca Traister, in which she details how Bill cannot bear to be apart from Hillary these days:
Deletehttp://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/05/hillary-clinton-candidacy.html
Of course he can't bear to be away from her these days. She has a slight chance of becoming POTUS and he wants to have another chance at being in the whitehouse. Duh.
DeleteI guess you didn't read the article.
DeleteBill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been nuts about each other from practically the moment they first spoke to each other.
DeleteYou wingnuts needn't worry about what keeps them together- they are the people they most want to spend their time and their lives with. AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE DOING.
Go back to wallowing in your own bitter envy.
The people I know who need this information would never watch anything associated with moveon.org. I guess Warren is trying to motivate progressives. It's sad that is needed but glad Warren has focused her passion on helping Clinton win.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great ad! But it could be expanded into a half hour speech.
ReplyDeleteI like to also tell people who complain about paying taxes that the money they pay in taxes provides pay to armed forces personnel, firefighters, building inspectors, and food and water quality inspectors...people we rely on for our, and our family's, safety every single day.
And Trump considers that any tax dollars he might pay is money "thrown down the drain"?
Are you listening American service men and women?
That piece by Sen. Warren is a perfect way to explain to people the variety of services provided by their tax dollars. I would love to see the Clinton campaign expand on the issue of Trump's taxes. They can use his refusal to pay his fair share as a civics lesson for the whole nation. Now that would be fun to watch!
I think that or military should be culled down to about 10% of what it is now. It's the most egregious use of our tax dollars.
DeleteOkinawa wants our marines out of there and 10,000 showed up to protest last week.
Let's use this money to improve America's infrastructure which is crumbling while we try to exercise what little might we have left on the world state.
When Stacey Wehrman Feeley caught her 3-year-old daughter standing on the toilet bowl in the bathroom of her Michigan home, she assumed she was just being "mischievous" and went to take a cute photo to share with her husband.
ReplyDeleteIt was only after her daughter explained what she was actually doing that Feeley realized the gravity of the situation.
"She was practicing for a lockdown drill at her preschool and what you should do if you are stuck in a bathroom," Feeley wrote on Facebook. "At that moment all innocense of what I thought my three-year-old possessed was gone."

This is what happens when small children are brainwashed into living in fear regarding something that may never happen.
DeleteSad.
Think back to the 1950s and 60s and recall the drill that American children did (totally useless and stupid, btw) -- hiding under their desks in case of a nuclear attack.
DeleteSeems to me that teachers should be teaching their kids about how the NRA, and not Congress, is in charge and making the rules.....
Is there a way of sharing this without FUCKING SIGNING UP FOR FACEBOOK?
ReplyDeleteI know, me too. I refuse to Facebook.
DeleteHow to run for president by cracker jack rump and ghost ho. Number 1 is pay yourself. Then lie cheat steal extort drug rape scam con and sleep with scum buckets. In rump world it is all in the sewer.. Life is a overpaid butler to shut up, a narsisst of a family and spoon fed ego puddin.
ReplyDeleteJust donated again. Going to make the Drumpfster eat crow.
ReplyDeleteShe is a joy, a pure joy...and tRump disgusts me in every way, every single way.
ReplyDeleteI never had much respect for Donald Trump, I'm talking about when he was married to Ivana, and there isn't much respect there to lose now. But Liz Warren? I respect that woman more and more each day because she tells it like it is. I'm not bragging, but my husband and I do rather well financially and don't mind one iota of paying our fair share of taxes and charitable giving. It's a small price to pay for living in this country. Liz is onto something, it's the ones who gripe the most who cheat every chance they get, Donald went through how many GOP candidates, one of whom was a token female, and he kept on whining he wants to be treated fairly, he made them all swear they'd support him if he became the presumptive candidate, and they're tap dancing with their heads up their asses with fear.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love the most about Liz and Hillary, is they're women with backbones who expose the fraud, and that, alone, must get under his thin skin.
