Hopefully this is happening all over the country.

I imagine that the "bern" they're feeling right now is the one in their knees while they hold that position to change the bumper sticker.

  1. Hey Gryphen,
I read you all the time, and it's really rare that I disagree with you. You could've supported the non religious socialist guy, and it wouldn't have surprised me one bit. I supported him. And yesterday when I pulled up the Bernie sign and replaced it with my Hillary sign, I felt proud that I was now supporting our first female prez. We Dems really couldn't lose either way. Not all the Bernie folks were jerks, and I promise you, this whole unity thing is BS. We'll be there for HRC this Fall with our cash, our voices and our votes.
    Be well my friend,

I'm with Betsy. My whole family supported Bernie, and among us are ADHD, austisic, nonbinary gendered, engineers, scientists, and professional creatives. I love your blog, but I don't enjoy the gloating or demonization of the Bernie supporters that just wanted to see him through the primary. Just like you, we love this country and want a future that gives a chance back to the lower and middle incomes. We long for the day when the venom of bigotry and racism has worked its way out of our national systems. We want a future where America learns from her mistakes when it comes to toppling or supporting foreign governments that become breeding grounds for violence and tyranny. You can count on us to do the right thing, but please lay off the needling. (I still read your blog first thing every morning - alway hoping for that baby bombshell to go off!) Thanks for your hard work and having the courage to face the potential for a mysterious fire. :)

    11. Thanks for kindness, folks. I've been reading this blog since 2008, and I almost feel like I know Gryphen. Some of my favorite posts (other than the obvious Sarah smackdowns), are those in which he shares some of his life's struggles. He's helped me deal with my atheism, with understanding my beautiful gay daughter and sometimes, he's just helped me get through a shitty day. I almost never post comments, though, because while I'm sure Gryphen wouldn't judge me, I'm a little afraid others will in a hostile way. I'm afraid someone will think I'm a troll or a Palin plant or just be mean, and I really don't need that in my life. I bet if we all met in person, we'd be really funny and have a blast, but some days the comment section here is a scary place. Or maybe I'm just a 🐓. Take care peeps. Betsy

I drive a little gas-sipping Mini Cooper as well as a RedneckMobile: Ford F250 Super Duty 4WD.

Cooper is clean with no bumper stickers. The truck is another matter -- it's emblazoned with:
    -- Vietnam Veteran
    -- US Army Retired
    -- Remington
    -- SigSauer
-- Spiritual people inspire me; religious people frighten me
    -- Feel the Bern
    -- I'm with Hillary
    -- Proud Democrat
    -- a sticker indicating I'm an EMT
-- I Stand With Planned Parenthood

So, early this morning, I scraped off the Bernie sticker and sent Hillary more money.

I started to add a bumper sticker that has a pic of Donald Trump with the caption: "Does this ass make my truck look fat?" Sweet Thing said there will NEVER be a pic of Donald Trump anywhere on our property -- guess that seals that.

Totally agree! The gloating is kind of getting old. I support Hillary, but not everyone who wanted Bernie to win is a foaming-at-the-mouth lunatic who is unable to accept reality...Despite what too many people like to suggest.

Most of them simply preferred another liberal candidate who they thought was more in line with their views. What is so terrible about that? So they were excited and passionate about their candidate? I think that's great. That kind of excitement and passion is what swept Obama into office in 2008.

Laughing and making fun of them isn't going to be what makes them excited to turn out for Hillary in November

I hope the Bernie supporters realize that there's a lot of Hillary supporters that respect and appreciate you and Bernie. He ran a hell of a campaign. From polling at 5% to becoming damn close to being the nominee. It's impressive. I hope Hillary integrates as much of Bernie's ideas into her platform as possible and I hope his supporters come out and vote for Hillary. Her platform is a million times closer to Bernie's than Donald is and we absolutely can't let Trump win. I don't think our country would survive a Trump presidency

Sanders ran on individual's contributions; I don't see a problem with continuing to show support for the ideas in his platform. Whoa, Gryphen, doubling down on your arrogance is not pretty. Why don't you just give some credit to Bernie. He DOES deserve it. I'm a long time reader here, too and I'm trying so hard to understand your position on Bernie. It's not about being a crybaby and it's not about hurt feelings, it's about being generous of heart and recognizing the contribution that Bernie's campaign has made to this country, bringing tons of young people into politics and pushing the conversation left towards progressive ideas that have not had the kind of exposure they are now enjoying in the minds of millions. I really encourage you to take a look at how power players in the Dem party are being gracious, patient and respectful about Bernie finishing his campaign. You could be the same. I know you could. That you are choosing to be a bit immature and defensive is perplexing. And then striking out at your readers who are calling you out for your bad taste is really shocking.

Interestingly, one of the top Democratic "grassroots experts" on social media just said the same thing. I get that Bernie supporters who are Democrats and altruistic independents will now vote for HRC, and that is much appreciated. But there was a lot of unnecessary vitriol from Bernie supporters--a lot. There was a story in the LA Times about how many women for HRC were afraid to show it due to fear for their safety or social repercussions, due to the toxicity of many of his vociferous supporters. They were even afraid to tell pollsters of their support for her. They did not have yard signs or bumper stickers.

But they showed up to vote.

If you failed to do that it is certainly not my job to make you feel better about your stupidity, it is my job to rub your nose in it so you do not do anything that ignorant again."

Perhaps the writing on the wall was a warning that our two party system has become impossibly toxic. Citizens United allowed the Kochs and their Tea Party minions to paralyze and poison the US government. Bernie brought many important progressive issues to the forefront of the primary campaigns. The response by an army of Americans offering one small donation at a time was just as heartening as it was when Barack Obama pulled off such a feat. Bernie's candidacy made Hillary Clinton a much better candidate than if she had been handed the nomination without any challenge.

      So, please stop with the
"rub your nose in it" rhetoric. It sounds like something Sarah Palin would say, and it's not any prettier or more impressive coming from you, Gryphen.
