President Obama endorses Hillary Clinton. Update!

Courtesy of NBC News:

"I know how hard this job can be. That's why I know Hillary will be so good at it. In fact, I don't think there's ever been someone so qualified to hold this office," he says in the video, which was tweeted by Clinton's official Twitter account.

"I have seen her judgment, I have seen her toughness, I have seen her commitment to our values up close," he said of his former Democratic rival and first secretary of state.

Obama and Clinton will appear together in their first joint campaign trip together next Wednesday in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Clinton's campaign said.

Well that is a fairly ringing endorsement right there.

The President also met with Bernie Sanders today and somehow convinced him to stop being a dick and to work with Hillary Clinton to defeat Donald Trump in the general.

And they say the man cannot perform miracles.

I am going to update this post a little later tonight after Elizabeth Warren, or as I call her "Madame VP," endorses Hillary on the Rachel Maddow show.

That's right kids, everything is starting to come together nicely.

Update: Well as expected Elizabeth Warren just endorsed Hillary Clinton, with real passion might I add.

And when Rachel Maddow followed up with questions about whether she was being vetted as a VP candidate, Warren said "not to her knowledge" but never said that she was not interested in the position.

And when asked if she felt she would be prepared, if she were the VP, to step into the presidency if called do so she said "Yes, I do."

I have never been more convinced that she is going to be Hillary's VP, than I am right now.

On Chris Matthews' Hardball, starting 13 minutes in and going without interruption until minute 43. Elizabeth Warren on the longstanding, ongoing, Republican effort to undermine the judicial system. The latter part of her speech concentrates on Trump. There's a preview article at:
which, I hope, will eventually be linked to a video of the real thing.

If you have Hardball recorded, go play it now!

    1. Anita Winecooler5:31 PM

She's on Rachel as well, and endorsed Hillary.

    2. Anonymous5:57 PM

      It's on youtube:

  2. It's so easy to imagine Trump smashing and breaking things at home, firing people, maybe even pissing on the furniture. Biden just did him down on Chris Hayes. Today is not his day.

    1. Anonymous7:21 PM

When I was watching Trump's speech Tuesday and Melania looked so miserable standing near him, I had to wonder what was happening at home. He must be such a total pain to have to put up with any day, but especially these days. Melania looked like she had lost any faith in him and like she did not want to be there. I wondered if he even yells at her and places blame on her. She's much like him with her own lying about her achievements (her website is a total joke) and she latched onto him to climb the ladder and stay in the US and live the good life, so I don't have too much sympathy for her. I actually love the idea of her dream of ever entering the White House being smashed to smithereens. I just hope he isn't abusive up in their penthouse.

    2. Anonymous5:54 AM

As much of a gold digger and a sell-out to the female gender as Melania is no one deserves to have to rut with Donald Trump.

  3. Anonymous4:39 PM

Gryphen, I made up this little ditty after seeing Elizabeth Warren speaking about an hour ago. Thought you might like it. :)

    Lizzie Warren took an axe
And gave Dumb Donald forty whacks.
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave The Turtle forty one!

    1. Anonymous9:55 PM

      @4:39 pm

Simply brilliant, and yes that wins the internet today. Thank you.

  4. Anonymous4:44 PM

As a 40 something lifelong Democratic women, I know full well why I would live to see Elizabeth Warren cloned many times over so she/they could serve in the Senate and as Veep. But I'm still flummoxed by specifically why Gryphen is so gung ho for Warren, especially since I don't see him as the great progressive Democrat that he claims to be.

    1. Anonymous5:20 PM

It would be a shame for Elizabeth Warren to be the VP. What a WASTE of political capital just to give Drumpf a drumming.

I, too, cannot believe that Gryphen doesn't feel that Hillary is strong enough to thump Drumpf on her own.

    2. Impressive trolling. I almost buy that you believe what you typed...

    3. Anonymous6:27 PM

Meghan, for the love if god, dog or whatever, please SHUT THE FUCK UP! You are insufferably obnoxious and astoundingly stupid. Please go shoot yourself (with a water pistol, of course) or OD (on chocolate). Please.

    4. Anonymous6:40 PM

Ha ha! Gryphen's skin is only slightly less thin than Donald Trump's is.

    5. DAMNYUM 6:27pm!

You went HARD on Megan! WTF did she do to YOU dawg!

Maybe you need some chocolate your damn self! It is not that serious...I could see your veins popping out your forehead from here! LOL!!!

    6. Right, 627, I'M the obnoxious one!

  5. Anonymous5:03 PM

"That's why the president, when discussing this issue in each stage, has reiterated his commitment to this principle that any criminal investigation should be conducted independent of any sort of political interference and that people should be treated the same way before the law regardless of their political influence, regardless of their political party, regardless of their political stature and regardless of what political figure has endorsed them"
White House press secretary Josh Earnest today at the daily press briefing.

    1. Anonymous5:15 PM

    2. Anonymous6:33 PM

      "criminal investigation"
      Reading comprehension issue?
There are two investigations currently by the FBI concerning Hillary.

    3. Anonymous7:45 PM

C, give it a rest, hon.

"Emails between U.S. diplomats in Islamabad and State Department officials in Washington about whether to challenge specific U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan are at the center of a criminal probe involving Hillary Clinton's handling of classified information, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
The 2011 and 2012 emails were sent via the "low side" -government slang for a computer system for unclassified matters - as part of a secret arrangement that gave the State Department more of a voice in whether a CIA drone strike went ahead, according to congressional and law enforcement officials briefed on the FBI probe, the Journal said.
Some of the emails were then forwarded by Clinton's aides to her personal email account, which routed them to a server she kept at her home in suburban New York when she was secretary of state, the officials said, according to the newspaper."

  7. Anita Winecooler5:34 PM

Great endorsement. I'm going to miss the first family.

  8. Anonymous5:38 PM

You can see the trolls are stirred up! Democrats know how to roll out a campaign! Coordination between the President, VP Biden, and Sen. Warren! What a great day for the Democrats! Madame President!

    1. A terrific day! A long fight ahead but I am fired up and ready to go! (I'll miss you, President Obama, but you've taught us a lot.)

  9. Anonymous5:49 PM

You think the judge who sentenced the rapist from Stanford to just 6 months in jail is bad? How about an attorney who got her client 1 year in jail and 4 years probation, instead of 40 years in prison for raping a 12 year old? Pretty awful, huh? Well, that attorney is now the Democratic nominee for the President of the United States of America. And her name is Hillary Clinton. Where's the outrage?

    1. Anonymous6:01 PM

That is a lawyers job, to represent their clients as zealously as possible. Fuckin trolls are really thick lately.

    2. Anonymous6:40 PM

      And laughed about it.
"Newly discovered audio recordings of Hillary Clinton from the early 1980s include the former first lady’s frank and detailed assessment of the most significant criminal case of her legal career: defending a man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.
In 1975, the same year she married Bill, Hillary Clinton agreed to serve as the court-appointed attorney for Thomas Alfred Taylor, a 41-year-old accused of raping the child after luring her into a car.
The recordings, which date from 1983-1987 and have never before been reported, include Clinton’s suggestion that she knew Taylor was guilty at the time. She says she used a legal technicality to plead her client, who faced 30 years to life in prison, down to a lesser charge. The recording and transcript, along with court documents pertaining to the case, are embedded below.
      Also this:

    3. Anonymous6:40 PM

Unfortunately, it's true that a lawyer is compelled to do the very best for their client; otherwise, the lawyer is breaching their fiduciary duty.

    4. Balzafiar7:00 PM

@5:49PM -- Before you once again post a steaming pile of el-toro-poo-poo, please do a little bit of research so you won't look completely stupid.

To save you some time, I've done the work for you: Read the story at this link:

If some of the words are too big for you, feel free to use a dictionary or phone a friend.

    5. Anonymous7:12 PM

Folks, this guy is going to post the same really stupid Anti-Clinton stuff for 5 more months. He's functionally illiterate and easy to spot, like a really poorly programmed robot. He doesn't even understand the difference between the DOJ and the FBI. Studies show that the uneducated white males flock to Trump. So it's futile to engage. He cannot understand. He's only here to scare us.

I cannot imagine what sort of life you'd have to lead to go to a board 6 times a day knowing that most people there have:
      1) Already refuted your points a million times because you've posted the same thing for months.
      2) Feel pity for you because your literacy skills are so sub-par.

    6. Anonymous7:14 PM

This account of the story has holes. She asked to be taken off the case but the answer was no and it was then her duty to do the best job she could. And she wasn't laughing about the victim or anything to do with the case as if it were funny. She said she believed the guy was guilty (she "knew" nothing--of course she couldn't know if he was guilty) and her laughter was the laughter of disbelief when he actually passed the polygraph and she said the result would forever make her question polygraphs.

    7. Anonymous7:19 PM

      Thank you, Balzafiar.

    8. Anonymous7:30 PM

      Yada yada.
Got a snopes on the victim's account?
At the end of the day,I think Hillary is ok with child rape considering Bill made 21 flights with Jeffrey Epstein(convicted child raper) on the Lolita Express.
      What else ya got,hotshot?

    9. Anonymous7:43 PM

      Hi, Celia!

    10. Anonymous8:10 PM

The FBI is conducting two separate criminal investigations concerning Hillary. The White House acknowledged that today in the daily briefing.
One is about the unsecured homebrew server at Hillary's private residence and the 30,000 "deleted" emails.
The second investigation concerns the Clinton Foundation and whether or not there was any quid pro quo going on between the State Dept. and the Clinton Foundation.Perhaps the FBI upon perusal of all the emails they retrieved can determine what was going on?
Now,once the FBI finishes up their investigation, they refer their findings with a recommendation to the DOJ.
The DOJ then makes a determination whether they will seek to prosecute.
That's how it works and I know the the difference between the two,do you?

Elizabeth Warren DESTROYS Donald Trump During ACS Convention

In the speech, Ms. Warren says Mr. Trump’s criticism of the judge was in line with how Republicans have approached the judicial branch under President Barack Obama. Democrats have criticized Republicans for slow-walking the confirmation of judicial nominees since the GOP gained control of the Senate in the 2014 midterm elections.

“Trump isn’t a different kind of candidate. He’s a Mitch McConnell kind of candidate,” Ms. Warren said in her remarks. “Exactly the kind of candidate you’d expect from a Republican Party whose ‘script’ for years has been to execute a full-scale assault on the integrity of our courts.”

      You're welcome!

  13. Anonymous6:19 PM

Ah, Gryphen. Keep on keepin' on. I love it that your blog has become apparently so influential, that you've got the haters out for every post. You must be doing something right.

    1. Anonymous6:45 PM

Why is a dissenting opinion always gotta be a fakegoddam troll?

Some people are genuinely disappointed and scrambling to make sense of things.

    2. Anonymous6:54 PM

    3. Anonymous7:18 PM

What makes this an influential blog is what Gryph writes about.

    4. Anonymous8:32 PM

      It's due to easy posting.

    Nope. Gonna be Al Franken.

    1. Anonymous7:17 PM

I love him, too, and MN would be a safe D state.

    2. I hadn't thought of him before, but he would be an excellent VP, and if needed, president. He's thoughtful, intelligent, educated, and experienced.

  15. Cast my vote in Cali for Hillary this past Tuesday! Can't wait to vote for her in November! Had on my President Obama Inauguration shirt from 2013 while I was doing it too!

Oh yeah and for the Hillary troll....

Hope you stocked up on Tums cause yo' tummy may not make it to November and have the doc raise your blood pressure meds while you're at it!

  16. Anonymous6:59 PM

Would someone please tell me how to reconcile a deep and abiding affection for President Obama with a deep and abiding affection for Bernie Sanders?

I will vote for Hillary because she's better than Donald Trump. If y'all think me to be a troll, then IM will be rendered the most boring political blog on the Internet.

    1. Anonymous7:16 PM

Thank you for your candor. The President will make the case first next week. Bernie will make the case in July. Hillary will also make the case with her VP choice. Give yourself time away from the topic for awhile sometime this summer, because it's been such a hard-fought primary. Thank you for putting your country first. Much appreciated.

    2. 6:59pm....

"then IM will be rendered the most boring political blog on the Internet."

Really?? Will Gryphen get a trophy? LOL!!

  17. Anonymous7:04 PM

The Hillary troll is that crazy Celia. It's sad no one reads her blog so she post her rantings here. Gryphen is so sweet to allow that :)

The walls are crumbling, and Bernie Sanders knows it.

Barack Obama made his support for Hillary Clinton official on Thursday. So did Vice President Joe Biden and liberal hero Sen. Elizabeth Warren. The major political groups surrounding Sanders are saying it’s time to unify.

The campaign is rapidly winding down around Sanders, the Senate gadfly-turned-unlikely revolutionary who outperformed everyone’s expectations, and he finally began to acknowledge it Thursday.

  21. Anonymous7:23 PM

Republicans have no way of matching what Democrats are about to do. Hillary Clinton will dominate the media coverage every time she campaigns with the popular Obama. Democrats are going to be able to send a President and First Lady Obama, former President Bill Clinton, progressive Senators like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders to blanket the country on behalf of Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump will be sending the unpopular trio of Ben Carson, Chris Christie, and Sarah Palin out to speak for him. Trump told the Republican Party yesterday that he is not going to raise the $1 billion in campaign funds that he promised them. Instead, he is going to do loads of television interviews.

Democrats are putting together a victory juggernaut.

Republicans have Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

    1. Anonymous8:05 PM

"Victory juggernaut"--perfect! And I just posted a link to Joe Biden's letter to the Standford rape victim. There's so much class on the Dems' side that just keeps showing itself.

  22. Anonymous7:51 PM

What Gryph didn't mention in the Kimmel thread is President Obama saying, "we LIKE that Republican candidate," with that grin we all know and love.

Gryph haters, tell me again how he has no decorum for not mentioning it?

    1. Anonymous8:17 PM

Uhhhhhh, Gryph hates on Bernie; we all hate on Drumpf.

  23. Anonymous7:55 PM

The team that's now coming to pitch in. Unlike Trump—who's the definition of a one-man team—Hillary Clinton calls to mind André the Giant. She has a posse.

  24. Anonymous8:03 PM

The Republicans have one candidate. The Democrats suddenly have a whole team of the heaviest hitters ready to pound him.

Eight years after they faced off in a bruising primary campaign, President Barack Obama endorsed his one-time primary opponent—former Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

And, to paraphrase Clinton, the Democrats just put a village to work against Donald J. Trump. Led by a powerful trifecta of elders— Barack, Hillary and Bill— the Democrats have two jobs: Coalesce and energize support among non-white voters and introduce the country to the real Trump on the campaign trail.

  25. Anonymous8:04 PM

This link is OT, and yet not because this is yet another reminder of what makes for presidential material. Of course, Joe Biden is not the president but he has what it takes. Such a contrast when we look at the current team and what Trump and whomever he chooses as his running mate would be like if elected. A must read:

    1. Anonymous8:18 PM

I love him. Maybe he will be SoS?

  26. Crystal Sage8:05 PM

Much as I love Elizabeth Warren, I do not want her to be the VP choice. She is badly needed in the Senate where she will be even more important and powerful if/when the Senate goes back to the Dems. I think Hillary will choose a white male, preferably from a western state. I'm looking at Gov. Hickenlooper from Colorado. Also like Sherrod Brown but he is also very important in the Senate.

As to Warren: if she does accept the VP nom and wins, it will be up to the Republican governor of Mass. to name her replacement. Do we really want to see Scott Brown back in the Senate?

    1. Anonymous8:20 PM

And do we really want Warren around just to write eloquent letters, etc.?

    2. Anonymous8:22 PM

Scott Brown moved to a different state and lost his bid. Is he back?

    3. Anonymous9:17 PM

I'm gonna admit I'm a bit buzzed and silly right now, and I've never heard of this governor & not up for doing research at the moment, but the sound of "Vice President Hickenlooper" puts a smile on my face. The late night hosts will have so much fun with his name they won't have to look any further for jokes!

    4. Anonymous9:30 PM

Hick is great but CO needs him!!

  27. Anonymous8:52 PM

Harry Reid has found a way around it; the MA gov will appoint someone for two months only (Warren would give notice post-election in November) and then they have to hold a special election in early 2017 that Reid thinks a D can win.

    Brown moved to New Hampshire.

  28. Anonymous9:09 PM

Picking Warren as her VP might be risky, with no old white dude on the ticket. I can say that; I'm a woman. If people could just listen to her with no preconceived notions, they'd realize she is most definitely, passionately on their side, and not just pandering.

  29. Anonymous9:42 PM

Not Satisfied With Destroying The GOP, Donald Trump Is Also Destroying Fox News

Now there is evidence that it isn’t just the GOP that Trump’s hateful rhetoric and childish demeanor are bringing down. TVNewser is reporting that the Nielsen ratings for last Tuesday’s primary night show Fox News getting knocked off of their top tier status among cable news networks:

“CNN was No. 1 in the key A25-54 demo […] And in a rare occurrence, MSNBC topped Fox News in the demo in both prime time (8 p.m. – 11 p.m.) and extended coverage (7 p.m. – 2 a.m.) MSNBC finished No. 2 in total viewers from 10 – 1 a.m. ET.”

It’s one thing for CNN to rank first in the ratings, which they have done several times in the past year. But for Fox News to be losing to perennial third-placer MSNBC is a monumental failure that indicates much deeper problems for both the network and the Republican Party for which it shills. This upset on primary night is significant because it reveals that the television audience in general is keenly interested in Hillary Clinton’s victory and historic achievement as the first woman to be nominated for president by a major party. At the same time it shows that Fox’s viewers were too depressed to even tune in, except for the brief remarks made by Donald Trump and his new friend, the TelePrompter.
