Latest book using Right Wing conspiracy theories to attack the Clintons debunked by veterans of the Secret Service.

Courtesy of Politico:

The author of a new tell-all book about Hillary Clinton could never have seen any of what he claims — he was too low-ranking — say several high-level members of Secret Service presidential details, including the president of the Association of Former Agents of the United States Secret Service.

On Tuesday, AFAUSSS, which is strictly nonpartisan, is set to release a statement blasting Gary Byrne author of “Crisis in Character,” saying members “strongly denounce” the book, which they add has made security harder by eroding the trust between agents and the people they protect. Story Continued Below

“There is no place for any self-moralizing narratives, particularly those with an underlying motive,” reads the statement from the group’s board of directors, which says Byrne has politics and profit on his mind.

AFAUSSS rarely issues public statements of any kind.

The book has rankled current and former members of the Secret Service, who don’t like anyone airing their business in public — but who also take issue with Byrne inflating his role. Byrne was a uniformed officer in Bill Clinton’s White House. But that’s the lowest level of protection within the White House and around the president.

Apparently much of the book rehashes old gossip about Bill and his affairs,  sprinkled with anecdotes about Hillary unleashing obscenity laden attacks against any who got in her way.

However according to the AFAUSSS if such things were true, and most of them have been debunked, this Gary Bryne character would have no first hand knowledge, and is therefore simply regurgitating old political attacks against the Clintons while suggesting that he was an eyewitness.

Which he was not.

It should be no surprise to anyone that Donald "I never met a conspiracy theory I didn't believe" Trump is all over this.

As are number of Right Wing news outlets desperate to give it credibility.

I would imagine that the market for a book like this consists almost exclusively among conservatives who would never vote for a Clinton in the first place, so its political impact is negligible at best.

All you have to do is watch Bernie Sanders closely to see what type of person he is.

When he walks with his wife, you can see she is behind him trying to keep up with him

    What a loving husband

When you see him at the Capitol, you can see that his fellow Senators pay him no attention

Nothing new here. Before he ran for president nobody cared for him then

Even though Bernie Sanders is no longer qualified to be president, Bernie Sanders refuses to concede to Hillary Clinton and refuses to give up his Secret Service detail which costs us $38,000 a day.

What a selfish old bastard. Imagine what good our $38,000 a day taxes could be used for instead of letting a 74 year old man play Wannabe President Sanders riding in his personal motorcade running through stoplights protected by his own Secret Service detail

Sanders’ Refusal to End Campaign Costs Taxpayers $38,000 a Day

Sen. Bernie Sanders may not have a single bit of chance to clinch the Democratic Party presidential candidacy. But he hasn’t actually ended his campaign, which means the U.S. Secret Service is still traveling with him wherever he goes and a team of agents is guarding his home. The 24-hour protection is hardly cheap, costing taxpayers some $38,000 a day, according to the Washington Post.

If Sanders chooses to stay in his current limbo it means his security detail could cost taxpayers more than $1.56 million in the weeks between the last primary and the Democratic convention that begins on July 25. Sanders aides did not dispute the Post’s figure

It would go to other people who might actually need it if it were not being spent on BS.

      Delete
    3. To 1:02: Of course that money is allocated, BUT, the Secret Service is stretched too thin. Those agents could be assigned elsewhere where they are truly needed. There have been plenty of news reports over the years that discuss how they are overworked, where they work extra hours because there is not enough of them to go around. Congress hasn't helped, either by underfunding this agency. Of course the Republican Congress tends to underfund to prove how broken our government is.

Anyway, because they are assigned to Bernie doesn't mean they aren't desperately needed elsewhere. Just because Bernie has a point he wants to make, he truly could end this waste of man hours and the money it funds this service.

Donald Trump accused of raping 13-year-old in federal lawsuit

According to the allegations, Trump tied her to a bed and exposed himself and raped her, while ignoring her pleas to stop. The suits states Trump “responded … by violently striking Plaintiff in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted.”

“Immediately following this rape, Defendant Trump threatened me that, were I ever to reveal any of the details of Defendant Trump’s sexual and physical abuse of me, my family and I would be physically harmed if not killed,” the plaintiff alleged.

I think it was around twenty years ago that we heard that Hillary thew an ashtray or something at Bill during the Monica Affair. Oh, boo-hoo. Guess that makes Hillary unfit to be POTUS. It sounds more like desperation that they have to drag out a half-baked story told by a minion at the WH as election fodder against Hillary.

Lot more fun watching Trump's Con go down like his many other eponymous "business ventures." I think Trump will drop out citing threats on his life or something else. He will not lose or admit he lost. He must blame someone else for his political demise.

  8. "Yes, Bernie Has Leverage—Deal With It
His negotiating partners should stop demanding that he fold his cards before the dealing’s done."

Leverage? As New Yorkers used to say, I got your leverage right here:

    12 million votes
    Victory in 22 states
    45 percent of pledged delegates
A history-making small-dollar fundraising campaign that outraised his well-heeled opponent
And all while facing one of the most powerful Democratic clans in history, rejecting big-money donors, and challenging one of the most famous people in the world as a leftist outsider.

Sanders’ current net favorable rating among Democrats is 13 points higher than Clinton’s, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The same poll found that 75 percent of Democrats want him to play a “major” role in their party. (Surprisingly, 44 percent of Democrats polled wanted Sanders to run as an independent, a fact that should give the Clinton team pause.)

And Sanders’ stunning margins among young voters tell us that he isn’t just speaking for a large percentage of the Democratic Party’s voters. He also speaks for its future.

Clinton needs his supporters. As Nate Silver noted last month, “her lack of support from Sanders voters is harming her general election numbers.” A YouGov/Economist poll in late May found that “Only half (50 percent) of Sanders supporters pick Clinton over Trump in the general election trial heat.”

While those numbers are likely to keep falling, these voters can’t be handed off to Clinton and her party like a football. They are deeply skeptical about her, and not without reason. It will take concessions to win their support. And those concessions—especially on popular issues like tuition-free higher education, Wall Street reform, and Social Security—will make the Democrats a stronger party.

Bernie Sanders may have lost the Democratic primary contest for president (yes, it’s over, even if he hasn’t formally conceded), but his campaign looks to be a win-win for his career in the Senate, where he returned Monday night.

Voting for the first time since January—on a series of gun regulation proposals—the Vermont Independent attracted a crowd on the Senate floor, with colleagues from both sides of the aisle approaching his desk to give him a handshake or a pat on the back. “Welcome back, Bernie!” Arizona Republican John McCain, himself a vanquished presidential candidate, told his colleague, after the two shared a hearty embrace.

With Sanders’s security detail, which he’ll retain until he officially suspends his presidential campaign, and a phalanx of photographers trailing behind him, he certainly looked the part of the celebrity politician in his return to the Capitol. And he has the following, among young people and diehard progressive across the country, to match. It’s a steep reversal from his decades toiling in the House and Senate, largely ignored by the Washington press corps and power brokers, as a lonely iconoclast. The really good news for Sanders is he’s been able to build up this new national standing without much of the typical blowback candidates see from voters back home, one of the occupational hazards that usually comes with running for president.

With all due respect, I disagree with the author of this Alternate article; Richard Eskow was officially part of Bernie's 2016 campaign so of course he says that.

I don't really care what his former supporters say about it, either. (Heck, I'm a former Bernie supporter and gave him $100!) The Obama Coalition can do it without Bernie or Bust people. By the way, Bernie or Bust was supposedly created by the GOP, or so I read on Alternet.

I think Bernie has lost all leverage; he stayed "in" too long after losing. The Bean Farters and the Jersey campers, along with those who don't understand the DNC rules, haven't helped much either.

I wish the Forever Berners would go protest the GOP. That would actually be some help!

He'll find out.

    Trump's Strategic Box

Aside from being stone broke, I want to note another problem Trump has made for himself.

Trump has coyly announced a "speech regarding the election" tomorrow in New York. On Twitter he says it will be about "the failed policies and bad judgment of Crooked Hillary Clinton." This was the speech that was preempted by the 'I'm awesome; we're all gonna die' speech he gave the day after the massacre in Orlando. It will presumably be a massive anti-Hillary oppo dump presented in the form of a speech.

    Here's the problem.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/trump-s-strategic-box

    Yep, Trump's Stone Broke

...His campaign is in desperate need of funds. Like I said, $1.3 million cash on hand is stone broke for a summer presidential campaign. He clearly has no principled resistance to loaning his campaign more money. And he's in desperate need of a few tens of millions of dollars. Put this together with having to be shamed into coughing up the $1 million contribution to a vets organization and the implication is clear: Trump is very hard pressed to come up with even a few million dollars. And this from a man purportedly worth $10 billion.

Trump's promises of vast riches got the GOP into a bind relying on him to fund a general election on his own. But that was all a lie. He's broke or near broke. And the GOP is now facing mid-summer with a campaign that is broke, has no fundraising apparatus, no candidate with big bucks and no field operation. He's done the GOP worse than the most screwed over creditor he ever sharked.

Out of a near 100 speeches she's made, only 8 have been in the financial sector. If she's giving them divine access to her, then I guess she'll give a good time to the American Camping Association, Ebay, Cisco, Xerox, Cardiovascular Research Foundation, United Fresh Produce Association, International Deli-Dairy-Bakery Association, California Medial Association, A&E Television Networks, Massachusetts Conference for Women, U.S. Green Building Council, National Association of Realtors, American Society of Travel Agents, Gap, National Association of Convenience Stores, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, etc.

He was too stupid to check the news; he'd report that Chelsea had been caught by the Secret Service in Georgetown the night before...when the evening news was showing clips of her visiting Japan with her parents. Sanders Not Paying Interns a ‘Living Wage’

Bernie sanders: everyone in the US should make a livable wage of 15 an hour. Unless you're my intern then in that case you make 12 an hour

Bernie Sanders encouraged millennials to apply for a Senate internship with his office this fall, offering a $12 per hour stipend, an amount that falls below his demands for a $15 minimum wage.

Sanders has repeatedly condemned Hillary Clinton for favoring a $12-an-hour federal minimum minimum wage, claiming at an April Democratic presidential debate that the rate is “not good enough.”

He said the rate must be raised to $15 per hour to provide workers with a “living wage,” despite paying his interns and campaign staff less.

(I could have left out the paragraph below but left it in to be fair. However, Sanders campaigned on paying $15 minimum wage but he pays his interns below a living wage.)

Still, Sanders is the only presidential candidate among the initial sixteen contenders who pays interns.

Clinton relies on free labor for her campaign internships, though she established a paid fellowship last year after The Guardian reported she had brought on experienced organizers as unpaid interns.

Nice to see an attempt at fairness in this blog. However, it's kind of a pointless point you're making as interns often don't get paid anything and as it says, Bernie is the only one who pays his interns at all, Clinton relying on "free" labor.

    2. Interns aren't normally paid. The experience you're receiving is the payment. In order to graduate pharmacy school, I had to intern. I did clinical in a 1000-bed teaching hospital. It was quite a challenge & the experience & memories are immeasurable. Fellowship candidates are are usually paid positions; AND are coveted as they are difficult to come by. When I did my residency, I was meagerly paid, but the position did have a few nice perks.
