No Bernie Bros, Sanders did not actually win California.

So if you got anywhere near Reddit early this week, or really most anyplace on social media, you probably stumbled across a link claiming that there were millions of uncounted ballots in California and that, either we still did not know who won California for sure, or they had been counted and we now "knew" that Bernie Sanders won the state and the corrupt corporate media stole this final victory from his campaign.

Many of these websites also claimed that there were incidences of voter fraud being reported in real time during the primary, but that seemed mostly due to some faulty machines, some disorganized polling places, and of course poorly prepared Sanders supporters.

Even before the uncounted ballots were tallied up Politifact gave the reporting that Sanders would win California a "Pants on Fire" rating.

Well now those uncounted ballots have been counted, and as expected it changed nothing.
By the way I have every confidence that supporters of Bernie Sanders will continue to cry foul and refuse to accept that this election was not stolen from him.

Which is really sad because the Sanders' campaign actively fed into this conspiratorial thinking and may actually have helped to disenfranchise thousands of young voters who may take decades to ever trust the system enough to participate again.

Unless of course they succeed in convincing Sanders to run as a third party candidate.

In that case Sanders will of course still fail to win the presidency but he can take solace in the fact that he will become one of the most hated men in America if his clumsy attempt undermines the Clinton campaign and allows Donald Trump to emerge victorious.

Same here, 8:39. I also donated to his campaign.
Totally disgusted by the way he is conducting himself now.

    4. Ditto for me. I took the Bernie bumper sticker off my car last week. I too donated to his campaign. But after the whole pope thing, I started to lose respect for him. Now between his wife and the his whining, I have decided that Hillary is best for the country. Bernie us still valid as a politician to drag Hillary back left, since the original Bernie message is still valid and if Hillary doesn't understand that Bernie has/had so many that like Bernie's stand against banking, legalizing marijuana and taxing it would decrease the American debt in a hurry(look at Oregon and the money rolling for them), free college and single payer health...
The only thing I see of Hillary that she will adopt any of those is single payer since that is what she pushed for in 2008...the rest of Bernie's message will fall by the wayside unfortunately, unless he stays in politics and becomes a burr in the side centralist/right leaning democrats...

Seems most of Bernie;s campaign ha been based on lies and intimidation. So glad he lost because he is as bad as trump.
Even in that interview the other day when Bernie said "when I am president....", well Bernie you know you already lost, get over it.

This is the worst of Sanders's behavior: poisoning the well by convincing inexperienced and low-info voters of a fictional "fixing." That is just pathologically narcissistic behavior.

When I saw Bernie on TV at his DC rally, he had already met with Obama and others and supposedly faced reality, yet there he now was claiming that California had not yet been determined. Please. Like he was ever going to close the huge gap between his votes and Hillary's. Like he was ever going to now win the nomination. But he went out there and said what his fans wanted to hear, and I had to believe that he really had not accepted defeat. And he has done this more than once, this acting as though he accepts what is and is now part of the Dem team, but then he goes back out there and acts as though he can still win. He's not naming Hillary now and dissing her directly, but he's doing it still. This is what has completely turned me off to Bernie.

Nonsense, 11:08. As usual, you're either not paying attention or you're lying.

He made a public statement about his big priority being to "closely monitor the count in California" right after he met with Obama. I mean, THAT was his choice of focus at that moment. He reminds me of Dustin Hoffman's character in Rain Man.

I keep wondering if Trump is paying Bernie to act like this so that Trump has a better chance of winning against Hillary Clinton.

Bernie never should have been allowed into the Democratic party! He's not a Democrat - he's done nothing but cause division and friction.

I actually liked him in the beginning, but he's showing his true colors now. He's an ass!

Vote for Hillary Clinton! Can hardly wait to cast mine for her!

I disagree with you partly, I do not think the Democratic Party should censor who joins. But I do believe you should have to be a member for a certain period of time before having the party fund your campaign.
AS a delegate I was undecided, but these last few months of Bernie's and his campaign's actions have me now solidly in Hillary's camp.

Trump Throws A Tantrum And Threatens Not To Campaign For Republicans

...If it didn’t bother him that Republicans aren’t endorsing him, why did Trump bring it up? Of course, it bothers Trump.

Hillary Clinton is piling up big endorsement every day, while Donald Trump can’t even get the endorsement of Don King.

There is a very real possibility that the Republican Party will run two campaigns this fall. Donald Trump will be left alone to run his presidential campaign, while Republican members of Congress run a separate campaign that will distance itself from Trump in an attempt to save their seats.

Most of Bernie's campaign staff has been hired by Hillary or wants to be. There is no infrastructure or staff for a third party run for him. And Al Giordano, who is getting more and more press, is waiting to run against him for his 2018 senate seat if Bernie does not promote Democratic party unity by the convention,

Bernie knew he'd lost when the early CA mail-in results were posted. While his "supporters" were suing the state, people here got pissed off. Earlier footage of Sanders peeps screaming at women and children while protesting at an HRC rally here did not help, either.

Additionally, I posted a link here from the LA Times several days ago that showed how HRC's camp targeted and did GOTV on the mail-in ballot voters here as soon as early voting began (millions of us).

Sanders was not only out-voted, but way out-organized in CA. He fired his CA campaign guy in early May. That was a huge tactical mistake. This is a huge state. You cannot win it with ads and hashtags. Trump will find that out in November, too.

I'm so glad to have President Obama as the adult in the room. President Obama feels it's been healthy for the Democratic party to have a contest and he has genuine respect for Bernie's path.

While all y'all have been calling Bernie names and saying you hate him because he's an asshole, you missed the part where Bernie has been quietly building a down-ballot coalition for the betterment of the future of the Unites States of America.

Bernie will probably not get to see his socialistic ideals promulgated in his lifetime, and yet, he plugs onward. Bernie is not a quitter and you hubristic bastards can at least give him that... he gets many other props from me, but Bernie isn't looking for a confetti parade.

Bernie wants people like my son, who's been teaching for 10 years, to get out from under the staggering student debt that will cause my son to pay $606 a month for the next 15 years on top of the 11 years he's already towed that ball and chain.

Bernie wants the middle class BACK and strong in America. Did you know that the reason Walmart has struggled in Mexico is because there has been NO middle class? Mexicans have been either really rich or really poor.

There's more, but it would bore you to tears if your fellow Americans ain't your thing.

President Obama gets what Bernie is trying to do for the country; he knows the Berners will unite behind Hillary when the fucking time comes and Clinton will be Obama's third term.

tl;dr : Thank fakegod that the betterment of America doesn't depend on the acumen of the Bernie-haters.

If you remember correctly, Bernie publicly admitted he wanted Obama to be primaried in 2012. In addition, Bernie thinks an Obama 3rd term is a reason not to vote for Hillary. Bernie is lucky he hasn't yet been schlonged by the Clinton machine.

I see the entire "free college education" thing as akin to our public K-12 system. People who can afford to send their kids to private K-12. Those who can't rely on the public school system.

If you can't afford a private post-secondary education then you can continue your education at a state subsidized institution and those who can pay for school can attend the private university of their choice.

This would do away with educational loans and provide those without the liquidity to pay for school to get an education with no student loan burden.

      Delete
    5. Anonymous12:58 PM

OP, here... What about a sweeping re-finance program for high interest OLD student loans? Like HARP that is for mortgages? (Thank you, President Obama, for HARP changing my life.)

Yes, a teaching certificate from Emory & Henry in Virgina (not to be confused with Emery in Atlanta) is expensive, but is also a bargain when one considers that a teaching certificate from E&H is reciprocated in all other 49 states; no further certification is necessary. He raised $52K in scholarships and $10K from friends and family and the rest required 6+% loans. He should not be penalized for getting his Masters and working on his PhD because it has made him a well-documented effective high school teacher.

If the private credit sector doesn't want to invest on it's own, the government could subsidize more than they already do and make life-altering student loan debt interest/criteria changes that would allow people to have lives and raise their kids whilst applying their learned trade. Right now, the lowest loan rate is 2% variable, but the criteria is a high threshold.

If you understand HARP, you'll get what this means. It's not free secondary education just like HARP wasn't about free houses. HARP is a life-changing re-financing program with high maximums and low criteria to qualify.

The Indelible Stain of Donald Trump

The Republican Party’s politically lethal embrace of Donald J. Trump is very nearly complete.

In endorsing Mr. Trump earlier this month, Paul Ryan, the speaker of the House, stipulated that while he and Mr. Trump have their differences, “we have more common ground than disagreement.” A President Trump, he argued, will help turn the agenda of the Republican House of Representatives into laws.

In a recent interview, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate majority leader, said that whether or not Mr. Trump believes in limited government, “he’s not going to change the Republican Party,” adding that “he’s not going to change the basic philosophy of the party.”

Both Mr. Ryan and Mr. McConnell are capable and impressive; Donald Trump is just about the last person they were hoping would be their party’s presidential nominee. But he is, and Mr. Ryan and Mr. McConnell are expressing the hope of Republicans who have been wary of Mr. Trump: that somehow, deep down, he embraces the principles of the pre-Trump Republican Party. Or that even if he doesn’t, he can be cajoled or pressured into adopting them. Either way, the damage that Mr. Trump threatens to do to the Republican Party can be contained. The argument is that even if you don’t particularly like or trust Mr. Trump, he will not redefine the Republican Party.

But he already has. Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee, is waging an open attack on what have long been the party’s core views.

...Mr. Trump is the very embodiment of the culture of narcissism and decadence that moral traditionalism exists to counteract. Republicans used to argue that character mattered in our political leaders. But apparently that applied only to Democrats like Bill Clinton. Today, we’re told such considerations are irrelevant, inapposite, quaint. We’re electing a president rather than a pope, after all, so there’s no problem wrapping Republican arms around a moral wreck. At least he’s our moral wreck.

The hypocrisy isn’t lost on anyone.
