Politico reveals that the problem with the Bernie Sanders campaign is in fact Bernie Sanders.

Courtesy of Politico:

There’s no strategist pulling the strings, and no collection of burn-it-all-down aides egging him on. At the heart of the rage against Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party, the campaign aides closest to him say, is Bernie Sanders.

It was the Vermont senator who personally rewrote his campaign manager’s shorter statement after the chaos at the Nevada state party convention and blamed the political establishment for inciting the violence.

He was the one who made the choice to go after Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz after his wife read him a transcript of her blasting him on television.

He chose the knife fight over calling Clinton unqualified, which aides blame for pulling the bottom out of any hopes they had of winning in New York and their last real chance of turning a losing primary run around.

And when Jimmy Kimmel’s producers asked Sanders’ campaign for a question to ask Donald Trump, Sanders himself wrote the one challenging the Republican nominee to a debate.

There are many divisions within the Sanders campaign—between the dead-enders and the work-it-out crowds, between the younger aides who think he got off message while the consultants got rich and obsessed with Beltway-style superdelegate math, and between the more experienced staffers who think the kids got way too high on their sense of the difference between a movement and an actual campaign.

But more than any of them, Sanders is himself filled with resentment, on edge, feeling like he gets no respect -- all while holding on in his head to the enticing but remote chance that Clinton may be indicted before the convention.

These are the first seven paragraphs of an article that goes on to point out that Bernie Sanders takes every perceived slight by the media or Hillary Clinton campaign personally and that his guiding principle while under any kind of attack, imagined or otherwise, is “Screw me? No, screw you.”

Essentially, much like Donald Trump, all of the campaign's missteps and self inflicted wounds were the result of decisions made by Bernie Sanders himself.

For me the question that remains after reading this article is how did he fool so many people, for so long, into believing that he had the temperament and self awareness to not only win this nomination, but to then actually BE the President of the United States?

And if there are any who refuse to accept the accuracy of this Politico piece Sanders' speech last night should be the only confirmation that they really need to prove it is dead on.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

And so, despite the crushing California results that rolled in for him on Tuesday night, despite the insurmountable delegate math and the growing pleas that he end his quest for the White House, Senator Bernie Sanders took to the stage in Santa Monica and basked, bragged and vowed to fight on.

In a speech of striking stubbornness, he ignored the history-making achievement of his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, who became the first woman in American history to clinch the presidential nomination of a major political party.

Mr. Sanders waited until 15 minutes into his speech to utter Mrs. Clinton’s name. He referred, almost in passing, to a telephone conversation in which he had congratulated her on her victories. At that, the crowd of more than 3,000 inside an aging airport hangar booed loudly. Mr. Sanders did little to discourage them.

You know I get a lot of shit on here for my criticism of Bernie Sanders and his campaign, but I literally feel more vindicated every single day.

P.S. By the way it should be noted that Sanders irritable and perhaps misogynist attitude is now being reflected by some of his more aggressive followers as indicated by their treatment of certain female reporters:

Like I said, vindicated.

And the Politico article states that Bernie is furious withSen. Sherrod Brown, Ohio's progressive hero. But Brown gives a classy response and says that Bernie will eventually be out campaigning for Hillary.

"... Bernie will eventually be out campaigning for Hillary."
      Maybe so,maybe not.
      Here he is in 1996:
"In terms of who to support for president, the choice is really not difficult. I am certainly not a big fan of Bill Clinton’s politics. As a strong advocate of a single-payer health care system, I opposed his convoluted health care reform package. I have helped lead the opposition to his trade policies, which represent the interests of corporate America and which are virtually indistinguishable from the views of George Bush and Newt Gingrich. I opposed his bloated military budget, the welfare reform bill that he signed, and the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, which he supported. He has been weak on campaign finance reform and has caved in far too often on the environment. Bill Clinton is a moderate Democrat. I’m a democratic socialist.
Yet, without enthusiasm, I’ve decided to support Bill Clinton for president. Perhaps “support” is too strong a word. I’m planning no press conferences to push his candidacy, and will do no campaigning for him. I will vote for him, and make that public. Why? I think that many people do not perceive how truly dangerous the political situation in this country is today. If Bob Dole were to be elected president and Gingrich and the Republicans were to maintain control of Congress, we would see a legislative agenda unlike any in the modern history of this country. There would be an unparalleled war against working people and the poor, and political decisions would be made that could very well be irreversible.
Medicare and Medicaid would certainly be destroyed, and tens of millions more Americans would lose their health insurance. Steps would be taken to privatize Social Security, and the very existence of public education in America would be threatened. Serious efforts would be made to pass a constitutional amendment to ban abortion, affirmative action would be wiped out, and gay bashing would intensify. A flat tax would be passed, resulting in a massive shift in income from the working class to the rich, and all of our major environmental legislation would be eviscerated.
The Motor Voter bill would be repealed, and legislation making it harder for people to vote would be passed. Union-busting legislation would become law, the minimum wage would be abolished, and child labor would increase. Adults and kids in America would be competing for $3.00-an-hour jobs.
You think I’m kidding. You think I’m exaggerating. Well, I’m not. I work in Congress. I listen to these guys every day. They are very serious people. And the folks behind them, the Christian Coalition, the NRA, the Heritage Foundation, and others, are even crazier than they are. My old friend Dick Armey is not some wacko member of Congress laughed at by his colleagues. He is the Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives. Check out his views. No. I do not want Bob Dole to be president. I’m voting for Bill Clinton.
Do I have confidence that Clinton will stand up for the working people of this country—for children, for the elderly, for the folks who are hurting? No, I do not. But a Clinton victory could give us some time to build a movement, to develop a political infrastructure to protect what needs protecting, and to change the direction of the country."

  2. I don't think it's in disagreement with this post, but William Rivers Pitt finds plenty of blame too for the Associated Press:

"...The AP's little wingding certainly depressed voter turnout across the board -- exactly 354 people voted in the North Dakota Democratic caucus on Tuesday -- and that depressed turnout affected down-ticket races all over the country.

Sanders supporters by and large have been reading the writing on the wall for a while. All they wanted was the opportunity to die on their feet, to take it to the end and let the chips fall. Now? They're pissed and feeling cheated. We're deciding nominees through polls of party elites? It was as undemocratic an act as I have ever witnessed after Bush v. Gore and the shenanigans in Ohio in 2004, and there will be consequences down the line, especially for Clinton. ..."

In California, Clinton voters and Sanders supporters were about even among those who voted yesterday. Clinton won because her campaign did a far better job of mobilizing early voters.

I'm not happy with what the AP did. Not because it didn't have every right to report the news as it got it, but because Sanders supporters will add this to their endless list of whiny explanations for why Bernie didn't win. None of those theories ever includes anything Bernie did or didn't do, of course.

No. But you really need to educate yourself on the political process, the caucuses are open to everyone.
Now having said that, ND is a very red state with very few Democrats.
The caucuses are a process where all involved vote on everything. I have seen local caucuses bring things to vote all the way up from a small town to the nat'l convention, sometimes this takes the full 4 yrs between nat'l conventions.
Delegates are selected ( by vote) from these local caucuses. The only control set by the Democratic Nat'l committee are that these caucuses are gender neutral, meaning that male and female delegates must stay equal in the count. My post only hits on a few highlights, but there are many books available in libraries or on the internet that can walk you through the whole process.

Sanders won't drop out: 'The struggle continues'

He can't win but he vows to keep campaigning until the convention.

Bernie Sanders early Wednesday morning pledged to "fight on" in the Democratic primary, even after Hillary Clinton secured the delegates needed to clinch the nomination.

"Next Tuesday we continue the fight in the last primary in Washington, D.C.," Sanders said, as the crowd of supporters roared in Santa Monica.

“And then we take our fight for social, economic, racial and environmental justice to Philadelphia," Sanders said, promising to continue his campaign all the way to the convention in July.

This, despite delegate math that shows Clinton has the Democratic nomination in hand after defeating Sanders in both the delegate count and popular vote.

“I am pretty good at arithmetic and I know that the fight in front of us is a very, very steep fight but we will continue to fight for every vote and every delegate that we can get," Sanders told the enthusiastic California crowd.

In the last sixty years or so, Democratic platforms were always about making life better for all Americans, about improving civil rights, about recognizing and dealing with climate issues, about better education, better healthcare and about more economic justice. Bernie Sanders never paid any attention to the national Democratic Party before. He has always been in his own little world.

Who championed civil rights in the 1960's and 1970's? Who has always been a friend of the working man and of unions? Who has urged action of cleaning up our environment? Who has stood firm on taking action on climate change? Who has stood by American veterans over the decades? Certainly never the GOP. The Democratic Party. it's time for Bernie Sanders and some of his young enthusiasts to learn some history.

      Beaglemom @2:35,

The Democratic party you are describing has not existed since the late 1980s when the right wing Clinon/Gore-led faction known as “centrists” or “New Democrats” took over the party.

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rj-eskow/the-new-democrats-meet-th_b_8531830.html

It was the New Democrats who undid the work of generations of Democrats by selling out the middle and working class. In a right turn to Republican-lite they embraced neoliberal economics that exported jobs, and deregulated banks and corporations that finally brought the financial crash of 2008. They also embraced neocon policies that have the US involved in unwinnable and destabilizing, not to mention immoral and illegal, wars across the globe.

Robert Scheer writing recently about Hillary’s announcement that Bill will be her economic czar if she’s elected said:

“ Does Bill Clinton still not grasp that the current economic crisis is in large measure his legacy? Obviously that’s the case, or he wouldn’t have had the temerity to write a 14-point memo for Newsweek on how to fix the economy that never once refers to the home mortgage collapse and other manifestations of Wall Street greed that he enabled as president.

“Endorsing the Republican agenda of financial industry deregulation, reversing New Deal safeguards, President Clinton pursued policies that in the long run created more damage to the American economy than any other president since Herbert Hoover, whose tenure is linked to the Great Depression. Now, in his Newsweek piece, Clinton has the effrontery to once again revive his 1992 campaign mantra, “It’s the economy, stupid,” as the article’s title without any sense of irony, let alone accountability. But that has always been the man’s special gift—to rise above, and indeed benefit from, the messes he created….

Trump’s fundraisers see no chance of hitting $1 billion

Dramatic shortfall expected as donor dismay about their candidate takes a toll.

Donald Trump’s top financiers are slashing their fundraising expectations and warning the GOP’s presumptive nominee could find himself massively out-gunned by Hillary Clinton.

In interviews, over a dozen major Republican Party donors and fundraisers who’ve signed on to help Trump raise money said they expected Trump to net only a fraction of his original $1 billion goal, perhaps netting less than a third of that.

Trump himself is already starting to distance himself from the $1 billion goal, telling Bloomberg News that he doesn’t need that much to win. But his refusal to commit to raise even half of that reflects reluctance among the GOP’s benefactors to collect cash on his behalf. Many of them say he might have trouble raising even $300 million.

That would almost certainly leave Trump at a steep disadvantage: Clinton is widely expected to hit the $1 billion mark, as President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney did in 2012. And it could have serious ripple-effects, leaving Republican down-ballot candidates, who are dependent on the national party to mount a well-funded turnout operation, in the lurch.

Hillary is there. Bernie is there. George H.W.Bush is there. Reagan is there. Reagan/Bush. Lincoln is there. No Trump anywhere. Not on the blog, signups. Not anywhere that I could find.

Trump is running a fraud campaign.

Any republican with common sense who goes to vote in November, refusing to vote for Trump, will undoubtedly consider who in the republican party needs to be punished for this big fat mess.

Bernie ALWAYS looks and sounds angry. You rarely see him smile!

    He's done!

He and Trump are fitting into the same category these days! Difficult to watch - as well as listen to - each repeating the same things over and over again to the point of nausea! Both have become so boring and uninteresting!

And, both would be horrible leaders of our country!

Hillary Clinton is the woman that should be leading us! She has the experience, knowledge and fortitude to go up against both these idiots! She assuredly has my vote!

Now I'm afraid IM has turned into Republican/Trump troll central. Sad. I'm done.

Also you are aware there are two FBI investigations,no?
The Clinton Foundation is the second one.
She's already trying to get ahead of what's coming on that:
“But let me just point out that people give lots of money to presidential campaigns, don't they? They give lots of money to political parties as well so, you know, that is money that goes directly to support political activities of candidates,” she said. “Money that has been given to the foundation goes to support humanitarian work, and if people wanna influence anybody in office, I think they would choose the political route"
Foreign donors can't legally give to political campaigns...so where would they donate money if they're looking to influence a certain political family?
And here she is on the Clinton Foundation taking money from different "donors":
“We’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it, but let me just try to set the record straight. We had absolutely overwhelming disclosure,” she said. “Were there, you know, one or two instances that slipped through the cracks? Yes. But was the overwhelming amount of anything that anybody gave the foundation disclosed? Absolutely.”

Can Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama Save the Establishment?

Hillary Clinton stepped into the 2016 presidential race hoping voters would effortlessly pass the torch from President Barack Obama to her, yet found herself surrounded by a raging anti-establishment inferno. “Burn it down” was the unofficial slogan of the Republican primary. And Bernie Sanders gave her a run for her money by metaphorically lighting all her Wall Street speaking fee money on fire.

Today, as she is unofficially crowned the “presumptive nominee,” Clinton has officially done what Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Marco Rubio and Lindsey Graham could not: survive the populist wave while being perceived as an insider. Now, as Donald Trump tries to assemble a potent pitchfork brigade to seize Washington, the establishment’s lonely eyes are turning to Hillary Clinton.

As Clinton shifts her focus to the general election, last week’s one-two teleprompter punch from Clinton and Obama suggests a fall strategy that runs somewhat counter to the populist tenor of the primaries. It looks like we’re going to see a superstar tag team duo aiming to consolidate all of strains of the unsettled establishment—and the disaffected Republicans and moderate swing voters who identify with their views—without alienating the Bernie Sanders/Elizabeth Warren populist wing of the Democratic Party.

While Clinton still has work to do to woo Bernie voters, she has a huge opportunity created by the disruptive Trump, who has left many national security hawks, free marketers and pro-immigrant, pro-diversity conservatives feeling politically homeless. In turn, she and Obama have begun crafting arguments more associated with establishment politics than populism.

I know it sucks to lose, but why come across as vindictive? We're our own worst enemies sometimes.

    Dear Bernie supporters,
I know many of you are new to the political process so please let me give you some advice.
Sometimes you lose. Sometimes first runs at any level are about name recognition. Sometimes they are about bringing your candidates ideas to the forefront. Sometimes it's about a movement.
BUt most of the time things do not happen in one election cycle. Sometimes the first( or 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) are about getting your ideas out there.
Losing hurts, it seems when you are so committed that it hurts personally. But during that time look for your small victories, like those I listed above, and if you are truly committed to the message then carry it forward. Sometimes it's carried forward by the person that exposed you to the message or not,but if you are committed it doesn't matter who carries that message forward( it might be you) and at what level.
Losing hurts. Sorry, I am not one to think that everyone gets a participation ribbon, but you can carry that experience and knowledge form this campaign that you can expand upon.
Losing does not mean your ideas are lost or that they are dead, it just means you carry them forth with you into the future. Think about what you have learned and what is important and if your banner carrier is not around for the next nat'l election who you can bring forth at other civic levels to carry on that message.
It hurts to lose, but that doesn't mean your message is done. It sometimes takes decades to bring ideas to the forefront in elections. Use this loss to drive you into the next, use this to expand your message. Use this to figure out what YOU can do better to get that message across.

    Signed
One who has lost many times, but still here driving my message forward
