President Obama rips into Donald Trump and his other Republican critics over their insistence on the phrase "Radical Islam."

Courtesy of CNN:

Obama, sounding infuriated at critiques of his foreign policy, pushed back against criticism for not using the term "radical Islamic terrorism." And he accused Republicans of fostering resentment among Muslims that could generate further attacks.

"What exactly would using this language accomplish? What exactly would it change?" Obama asked during remarks at the Treasury Department. "Would it make ISIL less committed to try and kill Americans?" he continued, using a different acronym for ISIS.

"Would it bring in more allies? Is there a military strategy that is served by this? The answer is none of the above," he said. "Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away."

THAT is who you want leading this country.

Not some bloated oddly coiffed buffoon, who thinks that impulsive tweets labeling everything "terrorism" before the facts have been gathered, is the same as carefully considered policy decisions based on an examination of the evidence.

Fortunately we happen to have a well qualified replacement for our Commander-in-Chief waiting in the wings.

And I am confident that she will know how to respond to the dangers facing this country as well.

I watched it live on a local TV station which was interrupted for the speech. President Obama tore Trump a new asshole. Even the local female anchors were visibly shaken by the impact of that speech. They were almost speechless.

How about we just eliminate radical ANYTHING, 2:44, and use logic and our brains instead of our emotions and spur of the moment hatreds like the spewings of a loud mouthed few?

One of the many things I love about my President is that he is a wordsmith. He uses exact words to convey his exact meaning. Damn few of those around, especially in politics. I'm really going to miss him.

    1. It sickens me that Obama has to address the arrogant, ignorant and dangerous rants of "that tweeter" at all; that Americans are so shallow they venerate a loud-mouthed, third-grade vocabularied, sweaty, heaving nothing of a man and can't see what they have in our dignified, thoughtful and reassuring President.

Obama is a Statesman who wanted to become president to do good things for the American people, not treat the office like some scam to inflate an overcompensating narcissistic sick little ego.

Gawd, I am so pissed that Trump has gotten this far. And continually in disbelief at the hypocrisy
and sliminess of the GOP nominees' campaigns.

      Five more months...

Barbara ~ Blame dems in like those pranksters in states like Virginia for the rise of Drumpf.

They registered as Republicans to vote in the primary as a joke on America.

    3. 1. There is no party affiliation required to vote in Virginia primaries.
      2. Blame belongs with the GOP, 100%.

How do you explain the April 26 primary in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Connecticut where Trump had a wipe out while Ted Cruz and John Kasich were still on the ticket. These are states with reasonably intelligent people (not necessarily republicans). Trump won every congressional district and every country in every one of those states.

Explain that. Also explain why you are so misinformed or lie about Virginia's primary. If you are a Palin supporter, no explanation necessary.

66gardeners at 4:24 am. Obviously Trump brought out the real crazy GOP voters all over the country. But neither Cruz nor Kasich (who has done Ohio in with his Tea Party ways) would be any better. Not one credible candidate in the 2016 GOP Klown Kar this electoral season.

Where are the Democrats in our U.S. Congress? Why aren't they publically supporting similar comments as our POTUS has made today?

Donald Trump will be the ruin of our country should he ever get elected. The media coverage of him is constant - pro Trump and anti Hillary.

Stop watching MSNBC and CNN! They are the absolute worst in telling America the truth!
Fuck them and their asinine journalists - and, I use that term very loosely!

I include in that Anderson, Chris Matthew and Chris Hayes!

I agree with 3:30; there's a shocking amount of GOP coverage on CNN and MSNBC. I cannot believe what Hugh Hewitt said today about the President on Hardball. You don't have to like Fox to be dismayed by what's happened to our national press (its corporatization).

I have been asking "Where the Democrats in our U.S. Congress"? fr the past 7 1/2 years. The majority of them have NEVER spoken out against republican crap during all of this time.

I have written many e-mail to several of them, even my local congress people, asking why they remained silent in the face of continued attacks against President Obama.

Most e-mails were not respondent to but I did receive form letters from some of them.

Trump must be using the Slander to make Friends playbook:

      -----------
Trump: U.S. troops stole money in Iraq

Donald Trump rang in the Army’s 241st birthday in unusual fashion on Tuesday — by calling attention to theft of government funds by American soldiers in Iraq.

“Iraq, crooked as hell. How about bringing baskets of money — millions and millions of dollars — and handing it out?,” Trump said at an evening rally. “I want to know who were the soldiers that had that job, because I think they’re living very well right now, whoever they may be.”.....

"This interpretation grows in strength with evidence suggesting that Mateen only had a vague idea of what ISIS even is, claiming as he did to both be a member of ISIS and of Hezbollah, even though the two groups are fighting each other in Syria. That’s like pledging your allegiance to both the Soviets and the Nazis during WWII; it suggests you have no idea what either group is trying to do.""Christian extremists for theirs. It’s an incoherent position in the best of times, but an impossible task when the views in question — that gay people are sinners and their sex lives are abomination — are exactly the same."

I think that Mateen had gay issues and used the ISIL cover to keep anyone from looking into what his real problems were. So now, all of right wing America is freaking out about Islamic terrorists when the perpetrator was a US citizen, born in New York, who was much more likely to have had great fears about his own sexuality than passion for foreign Islamic terrorism. We are lucky that President Obama is in office right now; just imagine Trump in that office in the aftermath of the Orlando tragedy.

Using Trump’s logic that banning Muslims would have prevented this terrorist attack because his parents would have not been allowed in this country because they must also be terrorists.

We must assume that Donnie’s father must be a Nazi, because he is German and Germany gets antsy every 40 years or so and starts a World War. All Germans are Nazi’s, so Donnie must be a Nazi also, they are war criminals, and so they should be ban from entering the USA.

Also Trump hasn’t been too concerned about blue-eyed, brown haired guy from Indiana with a car loaded with ammo and guns on his way to LA.

Donald is not concerned about his own immigrant wives and at four (4) known anchor babies (and the parents of immigrant wife #3) that he is responsible for enabling citizenship.

Is he concerned at putting the nation at risk? Will his conceivable immigrant FLOTUS (wife #3) put America in danger in foreign policy-making decisions? Is Melania's extended family Muslim? Radical Islamist (GOP description)?

Trump, himself, is an anchor baby. His mother immigrated here from Scotland (illegally?) when she was @20. She did not because a US citizen until after after she married Fred Trump which then allowed her to stay.
