A year after the Center for Medical Progress released those doctored videos attacking Planned Parenthood, things have never been better for the organization.

Courtesy of Broadly Vice:

Officials in 13 states have investigated the Center for Medical Progress's claims and cleared Planned Parenthood of all wrongdoing; officials in eight other states declined to even investigate the reproductive health organization, citing a lack of evidence. In addition, Planned Parenthood no longer accepts reimbursement for its fetal tissue donation program, in order to dispel "the ludicrous idea that Planned Parenthood has any financial interest in fetal tissue donation," according to an October statement from Cecile Richards, the group's president.

While Planned Parenthood has been cleared, the Center for Medical Progress remains under heavy legal scrutiny: In surreptitiously recording abortion providers as part of their "sting operation," the group is accused of fraud and trespassing, among other charges, as well as engaging in a "complex criminal enterprise."

If anything, according to Laguens, the Center for Medical Progress's tactics have backfired. "Over the last year, millions of people have taken action and have made known their use of and their support of Planned Parenthood," she said. "There's been an outpouring of appreciation for what Planned Parenthood has meant for the country and what Planned Parenthood has meant to individual people's lives."

She pointed to the recent Supreme Court decision, which struck down Texas's onerous clinic restrictions, as further proof that disingenuous, political attacks on women's bodily autonomy are failing.

"The real criminals have been exposed and are now facing lawsuits and criminal charges," Laguens added. "I think it couldn't be more different than on the day that they launched. While there's certainly a long way to go and a lot to do, it's a very hopeful time."

That was one of the most dishonest attacks I have ever seen.

Nice to see that in the end it only made its target stronger and virtually destroyed themselves in the attempt.

Unfortunately, there are still millions of people who refuse to accept the facts about those videos and probably will ALWAYS believe they are accurate including members of Congress!

A man who said he saw the shooting start told WAFB-TV that "they weren't targeting police" at first, but it was a gun battle between several men in a parking lot before police arrived. "They were targeting" each other, not police, he said. "This was just something going on between gangs." The witness said he saw AR-15 style assault rifles.

As a Canadian I cannot begin to understand the resistance to providing health care services as a right nor can I fathom the interpretation of the Second Amendment, the deadly fascination with semi-automatic weapons or open carry laws in the majority of the States. The complicated and manipulated (gerrymandering of districts for example) political system and election process that involves billions of dollars and runs for well over a year is also beyond comprehension.

As an American, I can't understand it either. America as a country is all about greed.

The" Christian Life House Maternity Home"
which, of course, is against everything
to do with Planned Parenthood. Bristol
is now making and selling pro t-shirts
on their behalf and a speaking date,
of which she is paid $14,000.
Because of Granny Palin directing MOH Dakota into politics, there will be more
of "Good Works" Bristol plus the tacked
on speaking engagements to cover her
trashy past and make her come off as
    an upstanding .future political wife.
I don't know the extent of her slow mindedness , but Granny P. is in charge
here. Granny P. knows that she, herself ,
is finished in politics, but she has
that one thread , the MOH, (she thinks)
to keep her hopping on planes for lots
of screeching speeches across the USA, and eventually the White House , living is the
    granny wing!

Since the attack on Planned Parenthood, I have gotten into the habit of emailing my state legislators whenever the Republicans put together a bill going after Planned Parenthood. While researching PP for my letters, I have truly found out how essential they are to our society, especially in the fight against unintended pregnancy and the spread of disease. Only idiots believe that Planned Parenthood is in the business of making money off of abortion, it's a teeny tiny piece of all that they do. That being said, in my opinion, making abortion accessible to women who feel that they need it is also an essential service to society. Who wants to go back to the old days when women were dying from do-it-yourself abortions? If you believe that your god is against abortion, then let him/her deal with it in "the afterlife". The rest of us should just mind our own business and live our own lives.

But when are the criminals in the Center for Medical Progress going to be indicted, convicted and imprisoned?

Nothing will undo the damage they have done with their lies.

One of my bosses was born into wealth and does a lot of philanthropic works here, and around the world. I know she's put together portfolios, and given on her own amounts I can't even fathom. Our profit sharing has options to save a portion to give to Planned Parenthood, and everyone had to sign and date the forms in front of a notary.
This is a small portion of the good works she does, but it makes me proud to know there are wealthy people who care about the lives of others less fortunate.
So glad this hoax video backfired and did more to help Planned Parenthood than to hurt it.
