The Right Wing erupted in orgasmic delight after reading it and serious media outlets took it and ran with it.
Except, like most Clinton smoking guns, it is all smoke and no gun.
To make this point John Avarosis took to Twitter to point out the holes in the story.
1) Clinton campaign is rightfully slamming AP for refusing to correct an outright lie about the Clinton foundation. https://t.co/Iv665DU8Pz— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
2) AP claimed in blockbuster story that HALF of Hillary's meeting while secretary were w/ Clinton foundation donors. pic.twitter.com/s7zIwEzRR4— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
3) AP then gave numbers: 85 of 154 people who met or talked by phone with Hillary were donors. More than half! pic.twitter.com/zmYlQT3JT3— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
4) Then you think about it. In 4 years as Sec of State, Hillary only met or talked to 154 people? Really?— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
5) AP would like us to believe that Hillary has fewer than one meeting or phone call per week as Sec of State? Uh, no.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
6) In fact, Hillary met over 1,700 people as Secretary. And if only 85 were donors to foundation, that's pretty lousy rate of pay-for-play.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
7) Oh but it gets worse for AP. AP devoted 1/3 of the story to Muhammad Yunus. He's their big smoking gun.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
8) probably because the AP reporters had no idea who Yunus actually is. He's huge. Done more than anyone alive to alleviate poverty.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
9) Yunus won the Nobel peace prize for founding the Grameen bank and pioneering concept of microlending to women in LDCs.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
The tweets continue on until they reach 24.10) no shit the Secretary of State met with Yunus. He's global poverty's Mother Teresa. That's AP's big smoking gun.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 24, 2016
I will not post all of them here, but I will include that 24th tweet.
This is what I meant the other day when I said that Hillary Clinton is held to a higher, and I would argue unattainable, standard.24) it's only corruption when you're a Democrat. It's only corruption when you're a Clinton.— John Aravosis (@aravosis) August 25, 2016
Small, almost insignificant issues like private e-mail servers, clumsy explanations about Benghazi, and even her personal health is put under a high powered microscope and examined for any hint of scandal that can be used against her politically.
Yes other politicians receive scrutiny from the press, but nothing compares to what Hillary Clinton has had to face. Or for that matter President Obama.
P.S. You can read the AmericaBlog post that goes along with these tweets right here.
You're so politically clueless. Save your tears for poor mistreated Hillary is so held to an unfair standard.
ReplyDeleteThe campaign isn't making a fuss about an inaccurate tweet because it's so unfair. They're trying to capitalize on the mistake to get ahead of and try to take the wind out of the sails of subsequent reports that are bound to come out about connections between Clinton at State and the Clinton Foundation. Try to think more than one move ahead.
Hillary is not the type of person to want someone's tears or sympathy. She is a smart and able go-getter who will be one our country's best presidents. Suck on that you foolish musogynist!
DeleteOh my god you are a gullible fool 12:55! Holy crap I didn't know they made people as dumb as you anymore.
Delete2:30,of course you didn't,you aren't intelligent enough to know how dumb you are.
DeleteIt looks like the plate of B.S. the RW has been throwing at the wall re: Hillary for decades snagged the peawit at 2:30. 2:30 is not bright enough to see what is going on. Her mind is Frozen.
DeleteI have grown weary of following any Clinton "scandal" since Bill's trumped up impeachment. I know Hillary fill face extra scrutiny as the first female POTUS just as Obama has faced because he had the audacity to win the presidency while black. The GOP are so transparent it is really pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI read this earlier. All good points! Spread this around folks.
ReplyDeleteYesterday as I was listening to all the hupla about this I wondered how many other politicians or even Trump himself would stand up to having their emails or busoness practices scrutinized and exposed.
Thank you Gryphen.

ReplyDeleteSarah Palin joins The Factor tonight to share her thoughts on Trump's possible softening on his immigration.
Sarah is all about supporting women.
DeletePlease, Bill, ask Sarah about Melania Trump. She needs to be supported since her speeches and all the negative.
People think she and Donald are lying about the next time she talks about immigration. Some say she lied that she would talk or speech as promised.
What is the delay and when is she coming through as promised?
Thanks Bill and Sarah for clarifying. Crazy Donald flopping is not looking good. How is it reflecting it the polls. Not that he cares about polls. Others would like to know.
According to one of the sideblogs on your blog, it said, the AP is chaired by Rupert Murdock. Anytime, you have situations like this then you know there will be Hillary bashing. No newspaper in this country is very objective anymore. We all have an agenda. Mine, is to vote for Hillary, because I can't stand the looks and sound of that damned Donald Trump. He's not only Hitler reincarnated by he's a parody of Archie Bunker. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteAP chaired by Rupert Murdock. Good one. Here's the Board of Directors of Associated Press:

The more the Anti-Hillary people try to create controversies, the more it makes me want to vote for her.
ReplyDeleteClean up on Aisle 5!
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin just wet her thongs when she got the call from FOX News for a 3 minute segment.
Sarah can finally take a break from Facebook
Sarah Palin just wet her thongs

How many "thongs" does she wear?? :)
Three. 2 flipflops and 1 panty. ;)

Being exposed like Ailes and Fox were, they are desperate for any woman that likes that kind of place. Sarah feels right at home. Bill is a super man for her to discuss immigration.
DeleteIs Trump desparate enough to use her again?
That's right, Steve Bannon. He wants to make her undefeated again.
The fascists want to destroy what is deemed the best charity on the planet.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if the benefactors of the Clinton Foundation could en masse rise up and scream FOUL!
Problem is, they are mostly children and poor people...you know, the kind the media doesn't care about.
"if the benefactors of the Clinton Foundation could en masse rise up and scream FOUL!"
DeleteYou mean Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea?
Fuck you, Anon@2:32. Do you have a clue how many poor people the Clinton Foundation helps? No, obviously you don't. It also appears you scrolled by the article and went right to the comments. Brave troll that you are, you don't use your name, but hide behind "Anonymous." Go back to Breitbart, Fox Nation, and infowars. That's your comfort zone.
DeleteI believe 2:32 meant that the Clintons (meaning the Clinton Fdn) are the benefactors, while children and poor people are the BENEFICIARIES. See the difference? If not, buy a dictionary.
DeletePardon ME all to fuck for using the wrong word, Nazi.
DeleteI have been flipping through cable news and the Internet this afternoon and this is the ONLY mention I have found!!! High School journalism students working on their high school paper are held to higher standards. And Donald Trump can say anything and it barely gets mentioned. But an obviously flawed AP article is spread far and wide. Yes, there is a double standard. And it is beyond time for us to start calling them out.
ReplyDeleteJim's Wright > "Coulter says Trump was simply "doing a standard retard." Ha Sara jokes on you, bitches..

Aravosis is simply wrong. AP requested from clintons office the full list of meetings with private citizens. Clinton's office gave that list of 154. It is not AP's fault Clinton's office when she was secretary refused to fully comply with AP's request. And of those more than half were donors to the "Foundation" (Ie campaign slush fund)
