Man calls into C-Span and confirms that Trump supporters heard his 2nd Amendment comment as a call to arms if Hillary is elected.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A C-SPAN caller from Michigan proved on Wednesday that even Trump supporters could interpret the GOP nominee’s comments about using the Second Amendment to stop Hillary as a call to gun violence.

“Number one, Mr. Trump was not threatening assassination of Hillary,” Greg said. “But what he was implying and could happen is if Hillary got her way and did do away with Second Amendment rights (That's actually a false statement.), there are a lot of us who are gun owners who are going to object to that very strongly.”

“And since we do have firearms, it might if it comes down to it be us having to defend our rights with those guns, just as the revolutionaries did in the Revolutionary War.”

Greg said that he hoped “it never will come down to that.”

“And I would point out that [Trump] said right afterwards that would be a horrible day when that happened,” Greg declared.

There have been a lot of people coming to Trump's defense and suggesting that what he said was taken out of context or that it was a joke, but none of that really matters.

What matters is how it was heard by the folks most likely to put those words into action.

Here was what Rolling Stone Magazine had to say about it:

But it's really irrelevant what Trump actually meant, because enough people will hear Trump's comments and think he's calling for people to take up arms against Clinton, her judges or both. Though most of the people hearing that call may claim he was joking, given what we know about people taking up arms in this country, there will undoubtedly be some people who think he was serious and consider the possibility.

In other words, what Trump just did is engage in so-called stochastic terrorism. This is an obscure and non-legal term that has been occasionally discussed in the academic world for the past decade and a half, and it applies with precision here. Stochastic terrorism, as described by a blogger who summarized the concept several years back, means using language and other forms of communication "to incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable."

If heaven forbid somebody were to actually make an attempt on Hillary's life right now, that would absolutely be blamed on this statement, whether fairly or unfairly.

Just like what happened to Sarah Palin after Gabby Giffords was shot.

However the underlying concern here is that the words spoken by Presidents, and presidential candidates, are heard all over the country. By the sane, the relatively sane, and those not even in the same ballpark as sane.

That means they have to choose their words with exceptional care, and as we know even when they do that they are misunderstood and mischaracterized by the media.

Simply put Donald Trump is somebody who NEVER seems to choose his words with care, and this last inflammatory statement is just the latest in a never ending stream of inflammatory statements.

All of that should have taken Trump out of the running for the Republican nomination, but since it failed to accomplish that back then it is up to the general election voters to stop him before one of his inflammatory statements causes the economy to crash, destroys diplomatic relations with our allies, or starts a potential nuclear war.

And if you think any of that is hyperbole, you have not been paying enough attention.

Notice how $arah is deathly quiet? She KNOWS she started this, she KNOWS she is complacent in Gabby Giffords. Think she'll say something? HECK no, she's just like him and, in my book, don't think that she's not talking to him IN that silence on speed dial.

His mouthpieces and he can spin it all they want to in the aftermath, but he meant EXACTLY what he said. It's a dog whistle and someone will get killed. He just gave them permission.

Rumor has it that he wears a bullet proof vest? Correct me if I'm wrong. Enough of this. ENOUGH.

    1. Anonymous3:32 AM

Wouldn't doubt that bullet-proof vest thingy. Maybe even a suit made out of Kevlar?

    2. Anonymous5:56 AM

I believe you mean "complicit" not "complacent." Although it's possible she feels complacent with what her dog whistles resulted in.

    3. Anonymous7:28 AM

Haven't you noticed that Hillary appears to have gained 25 pounds? She's been armored for a long time.

  2. Anonymous5:03 PM

If Don the Con loses the election, do you believe he will sit down and shut up anymore than the grizz did? Tantrum TV and Revenge Radio.

  3. Anonymous5:13 PM

Sarah all about posting Olympics stuff now. As if we aren't already seeing these things when we go online and when we watch on TV. She has several more tweets on the Olympics today. Poor Sarah has nothing else to say that could possibly interest people and she's going to the Olympics, but what about when they're over. Sad.

    1. Anonymous5:40 PM

      Sad? Hardly.
Make your bed, lie in it.

    2. Anonymous6:35 PM

She has someone else do this routine about the Olympics as she is cooking up more odious deeds.

    3. Anonymous6:53 PM

Her new job is posting and tweeting all posts from ijr. In spite of her servant's heart she insists on getting money to do it.

    4. Anonymous6:56 PM

She is just trying to draw all of our attention away from the fact that her son, Track Menard-PayMe had a court date yesterday, and nobody has been commenting about it - wether he has been sent to jail for not completing the court-ordered courses, or wether he has been spoken free by that kangaroo court.

    5. Anonymous6:56 PM

Sarah is featuring a lot of black athletes- but only religious fundamentalist ones, of course.

    6. Anonymous7:16 PM

      BLM! Olympic Fact:

    7. Anonymous7:24 PM

Perhaps the religious fundamentalist should practice what she preaches. Which she doesn't.

    8. Anonymous7:35 PM

    9. Anonymous7:40 PM

      @7:16 BLM!

    10. Anonymous7:41 PM

$arah always did like her black men, now did'n't she? Hubba Hubba!

    11. Anonymous7:32 AM

      $arah is violating Rule 40.

  4. Anonymous5:20 PM

The spinning by so many is disgusting. And it didn't take hearing the opinion of Hillary's camp or the media for people to interpret what Trump said as a threat. Many, many regular people out there heard the words and were shocked. At this point, I don't think he'd apologize for saying anything. He'd insult, say, a rape victim by making one of those side comments of his and he'd imply that she didn't fight hard enough or was wearing provocative clothing. And when there was an uproar, he'd never apologize and he'd never speak directly to the victim. I don't even think he'd apologize to a kid if what he said was extremely hurtful to a child. It's not just that he doesn't have a filter. He doesn't have any empathy or real ethical code. Oh, and Giuliani today--wow, what a horror he is too.

    1. Anonymous6:16 PM

Don't forget, "I could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and people would still love me."

      That?!? Our new president?
Confounded on the idiocy of this nation.

    2. Anonymous12:22 AM

Giulani is a major strange person. What's wrong with him? EEEWWW.

    3. Anonymous10:11 AM

I lived just outside of NYC when Giuliani was mayor and he was a smarmy little liar even then.

Now he's just gone over the edge and has twisted himself into so many knots trying to defend his buddy Trump that he looks like the work of a sailor on speed.

  5. Anonymous5:26 PM

Unfortunately, you are correct, G. Trump is beyond sickening and disgusting. I'm at a loss for words. I will be at the polls, voting against him as should everyone else.

    1. Anonymous6:37 PM

How about that GOP? Trump is not an island. They distance from him but he is their candidate.

    2. Anonymous2:22 AM

Exactly what about the GOP, they are tripping over each other to get away from him (if they are up for reelection)yet they continue to endorse him or stay silent, which is just as disgusting.

    3. Anonymous4:19 AM

Of course, vote blue all the way.

  6. Anonymous5:43 PM

I think he chooses his words very carefully. He knows exactly what to say and when to leave it hanging so that the intent is clear, but he has the wiggle room of not finishing the statement. It is what he did with the Megyn Kelly blood comming out of her where ever comment.

    1. Anonymous6:10 PM

On the contrary, Wordsmith Trump is an idiot like Palin. Willing to say provocative things to feed his narcissism.

    2. Anonymous7:10 PM

He also uses language to escape responsibility.

      You tell me.

      I've heard it said.

      I don't know.

      Give me a break.

He makes sure to dodge blame. He never apologizes. And everything is always deflected towards others.

Trump is a media whore on a galactic scale. He doesn't care what they say as long as he's on the news and in the headlines. That's why he doesn't care about this comment or any of the hundreds that have come before. They get him press and the next time he says something outrageous people will forget about this comment and focus on the next.

    3. Anonymous7:21 PM

      Stochastic Terrorism>

    4. Anonymous7:22 PM

He does it a lot, yes. MSNBC has been showing this collection of things Trump's said that he's had to explain or pull back, but they're not really sowing the right moments. There have been many just like the 2A one of yesterday where he's added on a brief aside and drops a hint so his fans get the idea that violence is okay.
That's the collection of video clips that needs to be made. Yesterdays' comments were like so many others and he didn't simply do it this one time. I wish the media would get such a collection of clips together.

    5. Anonymous1:54 AM

Jon Stewart would have done it. He wouldn't have let up.

      I miss Jon Stewart.

    1. Anonymous6:51 PM

If enough violent crazies think they have it together they will come out shooting at perceived enemies and launch a war. People like Trump will play like they are calling for peace. Only he can save his people.

    -Herr Donald Trump

Now what if Hillary Clinton had said

By the way, and if he gets elected president, nothing you can do about his trashy nudie magazine plagiarizing foreign illegal wife becoming First Lady. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.

What do you think Donald Trump, Sarah and Barstool would say?

  10. Anonymous6:50 PM

    "Don't retreat- reload."

Remember Sarah bragging about her 'bullseyes targeting" Democrats just weeks before Gabby Giffords was shot in the head at point blank range?

I hope Sarah Palin's big mouth and lust for blood hurt HER one day, she has ruined the lives of too many good, good people.

@6:59 PM You are the only troll saying that, lol. You do nothing but play silly, childish games. You are nothing more than a joke here.

  12. Anonymous7:01 PM

Kind of interesting to check on foreign news publications, and seeing that every single one of them has said that he called for Hillary and or judges to be assassinated!
The only people saying he was joking, or did not mean to have her killed are the GOP shills.

  13. Anonymous7:14 PM

I was watching CNN tonight and saw Trump attorney Michel Cohen arguing with Erin Burnett about the newest Clinton emails. They were discussing the email from the Clinton Foundation requesting that a Lebanese billionaire be put in contact with someone at the State Department. The person he was supposed to be connected with has said that the two never spoke. Burnett explained that, since the request was never granted, the smoking gun email is actually a non-issue.

Cohen kept insisting that, because someone made the request in the first place, that this was a big scandal. Burnett went further, giving an example of how anyone could send an email request to the Trump campaign, asking for any kind of favors, but unless those favors were actually granted, the requests were of no importance.

He kept insisting that it was an example of terrible corruption in the Clinton Foundation and campaign, and repeated the same nonsense at least 4 times, talking over her and not giving her a chance to speak. She finally gave up and moved on to another topic.

He was obnoxious, rude, and kept insisting that his absurd claims were proof of some sort of big outrage. I'm not a violent person but I would have had a difficult time not slapping the man across the face!

    1. CNN is taking over for Fox News since Fox News has finally been seen as nothing but propaganda. Same message different station.

Melania Trump will address immigration controversy, Donald Trump says

Fayetteville, North Carolina (CNN)Donald Trump announced Tuesday evening that his wife will hold a news conference "over the next couple of weeks" to address reports that she violated immigration laws when she first came to the U.S.

Trump said his wife would prove that "she came in totally legally."
The New York Post last week published nude photos of Melania Trump in 1995, quickly raising questions about whether the former model had obtained the appropriate visa to work as a model in the United States.
The Republican nominee floated the upcoming news conference just hours after he stoked yet another controversy by suggesting that gun owners could take action to stop rival Hillary Clinton from appointing judges who would infringe Second Amendment rights, should she be elected president.
READ: Melania Trump's nude photos expose gap in her immigration story

    1. Melania needs a coach to teach her what to say?

    2. Melanie's speech has to be?
fact checked to insure she is not plagiarizing again?

    3. Gotta make sure this speech doesn't contradict her other attempts to specify what really happened?

So Melania is going to disclose how she got into America.

When will Donald disclose his taxes?

    1. Anonymous7:44 PM

That press conference will not happen.
Placating the, if you can call them that, "press."

    2. Anonymous2:47 AM

his wife will hold a news conference "over the next couple of weeks
When it is held depends on how fast they can rewrite 'history" to make the "facts" fit the new story.

If they were telling the truth it wouldn't take a "couple of weeks" to get the story straight.!!!

Also Trump keeps calling it the dishonest media, so why a press conference? So they can blame the media?

  15. Anonymous7:29 PM

Donald Trump knew exactly what he was saying. He's driven by vengeance and will stop at nothing to cause harm to anyone he views as having diminished him.

  16. When a presidential candidate has the Secret Service reminding him words that incite violence are in fact off limits... Something has gone completely off the tracks.

This man child seriously scares me. When he loses, his ego will demand recompense. Of course the 2Aers heard this as as a call to arms. Hell they've been praying for a reason to use those damn guns they're buying in freaking bulk!

    1. Anonymous9:15 PM

Those gun freaks have never been in a firefight, and would hide under their beds if confronted by an armed assailant. You can 'believe' that Donald Trump is just as cowardly.

    2. Anonymous9:42 AM

If he wins his ego will demand recompense.

Look what he did after he got the nomination. He spent days going after Cruz and Kasich and everyone else that wronged him. He's vindictive.

After he wins he won't just go after Hillary. He'll also go after everyone in the GOP that he felt slighted by.

He is a petulant man-baby. A whiny little bitch.

He'll be a spoiled bully with the nuclear codes.

It only takes one psychopath to take Donald Trump's very broad hint. Just one single nutjob. In America.

All of Trump's apologists are trying to make us believe that Trump meant the gun psychos should "vote".... as if they haven't been voting for decades- if only to blackmail politicians.

  22. The SOB pretends he has no control of what he says. If he had stopped at "nothing you can do" but he had to add his little threat.

  23. WA Skeptic11:59 PM

You know; like that nutjob who shot and killed those people after the lying video about Planned Parenthood was published. Like THAT dog whistle.

Somebody should put a cork in that cheeto-faced twatwaffle's pouty little mouth. Or maybe give him a small stroke or MI. Just enough to make him retire to his Trump Tower with round-the-clock medical help because you know Melania won't wipe his ass for him.

I don't care how many flying monkeys they trot out and twist themselves into a pretzel to "interpret" Traitor Trump's words and they can't even get it together on which excuse to use, the dishonest media, the “spirit of some crap” etc, everyone knows exactly what he meant.

He has been using this "people say, I don't know I have heard it" since the beginning of his campaign, to try and give the illusion these are not his ideas or words.

The fact that he lies about Hillary wanting to take away guns away from these mouth breathers enforces the fact that he is calling to incite violence.

When someone is assassinated, what excuse will he use, I was just joking or dishonest media?

  26. Anonymous3:47 AM

What Democratic president has, since the 2nd Amendment started to mean more than it really means (circa 1980?), tried to eliminate it? Granted, in the 1990's, the country finally got a ban on the worst of the offending weapons and we sane Americans have been trying to limit the availability of the same weapons and many others since then. But no Democratic president has tried to "take the guns away" from those who feel they cannot go to bed at night without them. What does it take to convince these numbskulls and when will a Republican politician start telling them that Democrats will not do away with their misinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment but only want to put reasonable controls on it?
