Man calls into C-Span and confirms that Trump supporters heard his 2nd Amendment comment as a call to arms if Hillary is elected.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A C-SPAN caller from Michigan proved on Wednesday that even Trump supporters could interpret the GOP nominee’s comments about using the Second Amendment to stop Hillary as a call to gun violence.

“Number one, Mr. Trump was not threatening assassination of Hillary,” Greg said. “But what he was implying and could happen is if Hillary got her way and did do away with Second Amendment rights (That's actually a false statement.), there are a lot of us who are gun owners who are going to object to that very strongly.”

“And since we do have firearms, it might if it comes down to it be us having to defend our rights with those guns, just as the revolutionaries did in the Revolutionary War.”

Greg said that he hoped “it never will come down to that.”

“And I would point out that [Trump] said right afterwards that would be a horrible day when that happened,” Greg declared.

There have been a lot of people coming to Trump's defense and suggesting that what he said was taken out of context or that it was a joke, but none of that really matters.

What matters is how it was heard by the folks most likely to put those words into action.

Here was what Rolling Stone Magazine had to say about it:

But it's really irrelevant what Trump actually meant, because enough people will hear Trump's comments and think he's calling for people to take up arms against Clinton, her judges or both. Though most of the people hearing that call may claim he was joking, given what we know about people taking up arms in this country, there will undoubtedly be some people who think he was serious and consider the possibility.

In other words, what Trump just did is engage in so-called stochastic terrorism. This is an obscure and non-legal term that has been occasionally discussed in the academic world for the past decade and a half, and it applies with precision here. Stochastic terrorism, as described by a blogger who summarized the concept several years back, means using language and other forms of communication "to incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable."

Exactly.

If heaven forbid somebody were to actually make an attempt on Hillary's life right now, that would absolutely be blamed on this statement, whether fairly or unfairly.

Just like what happened to Sarah Palin after Gabby Giffords was shot.

However the underlying concern here is that the words spoken by Presidents, and presidential candidates, are heard all over the country. By the sane, the relatively sane, and those not even in the same ballpark as sane.

That means they have to choose their words with exceptional care, and as we know even when they do that they are misunderstood and mischaracterized by the media.

Simply put Donald Trump is somebody who NEVER seems to choose his words with care, and this last inflammatory statement is just the latest in a never ending stream of inflammatory statements.

All of that should have taken Trump out of the running for the Republican nomination, but since it failed to accomplish that back then it is up to the general election voters to stop him before one of his inflammatory statements causes the economy to crash, destroys diplomatic relations with our allies, or starts a potential nuclear war.

And if you think any of that is hyperbole, you have not been paying enough attention.

Notice how $arah is deathly quiet? She KNOWS she started this, she KNOWS she is complacent in Gabby Giffords. Think she'll say something? HECK no, she's just like him and, in my book, don't think that she's not talking to him IN that silence on speed dial.

His mouthpieces and he can spin it all they want to in the aftermath, but he meant EXACTLY what he said. It's a dog whistle and someone will get killed. He just gave them permission.

Sarah all about posting Olympics stuff now. As if we aren't already seeing these things when we go online and when we watch on TV. She has several more tweets on the Olympics today. Poor Sarah has nothing else to say that could possibly interest people and she's going to the Olympics, but what about when they're over. Sad.

The spinning by so many is disgusting. And it didn't take hearing the opinion of Hillary's camp or the media for people to interpret what Trump said as a threat. Many, many regular people out there heard the words and were shocked. At this point, I don't think he'd apologize for saying anything. He'd insult, say, a rape victim by making one of those side comments of his and he'd imply that she didn't fight hard enough or was wearing provocative clothing. And when there was an uproar, he'd never apologize and he'd never speak directly to the victim. I don't even think he'd apologize to a kid if what he said was extremely hurtful to a child. It's not just that he doesn't have a filter. He doesn't have any empathy or real ethical code. Oh, and Giuliani today--wow, what a horror he is too.

I was watching CNN tonight and saw Trump attorney Michel Cohen arguing with Erin Burnett about the newest Clinton emails. They were discussing the email from the Clinton Foundation requesting that a Lebanese billionaire be put in contact with someone at the State Department. The person he was supposed to be connected with has said that the two never spoke. Burnett explained that, since the request was never granted, the smoking gun email is actually a non-issue.

Cohen kept insisting that, because someone made the request in the first place, that this was a big scandal. Burnett went further, giving an example of how anyone could send an email request to the Trump campaign, asking for any kind of favors, but unless those favors were actually granted, the requests were of no importance.

He kept insisting that it was an example of terrible corruption in the Clinton Foundation and campaign, and repeated the same nonsense at least 4 times, talking over her and not giving her a chance to speak. She finally gave up and moved on to another topic.

He was obnoxious, rude, and kept insisting that his absurd claims were proof of some sort of big outrage. I'm not a violent person but I would have had a difficult time not slapping the man across the face!

    CNN:
Melania Trump will address immigration controversy, Donald Trump says

Fayetteville, North Carolina (CNN)Donald Trump announced Tuesday evening that his wife will hold a news conference "over the next couple of weeks" to address reports that she violated immigration laws when she first came to the U.S.

Trump said his wife would prove that "she came in totally legally."
The New York Post last week published nude photos of Melania Trump in 1995, quickly raising questions about whether the former model had obtained the appropriate visa to work as a model in the United States.
The Republican nominee floated the upcoming news conference just hours after he stoked yet another controversy by suggesting that gun owners could take action to stop rival Hillary Clinton from appointing judges who would infringe Second Amendment rights, should she be elected president.

WHY IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS?

    1. Melania needs a coach to teach her what to say?

    2. Melanie's speech has to be?
fact checked to insure she is not plagiarizing again?

    3. Gotta make sure this speech doesn't contradict her other attempts to specify what really happened?

Granted, in the 1990's, the country finally got a ban on the worst of the offending weapons and we sane Americans have been trying to limit the availability of the same weapons and many others since then. But no Democratic president has tried to "take the guns away" from those who feel they cannot go to bed at night without them. What does it take to convince these numbskulls and when will a Republican politician start telling them that Democrats will not do away with their misinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment but only want to put reasonable controls on it?
