Man calls into C-Span and confirms that Trump supporters heard his 2nd Amendment comment as a call to arms if Hillary is elected.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A C-SPAN caller from Michigan proved on Wednesday that even Trump supporters could interpret the GOP nominee’s comments about using the Second Amendment to stop Hillary as a call to gun violence.

“Number one, Mr. Trump was not threatening assassination of Hillary,” Greg said. “But what he was implying and could happen is if Hillary got her way and did do away with Second Amendment rights (That's actually a false statement.), there are a lot of us who are gun owners who are going to object to that very strongly.”

“And since we do have firearms, it might if it comes down to it be us having to defend our rights with those guns, just as the revolutionaries did in the Revolutionary War.”

Greg said that he hoped “it never will come down to that.”

“And I would point out that [Trump] said right afterwards that would be a horrible day when that happened,” Greg declared.

There have been a lot of people coming to Trump's defense and suggesting that what he said was taken out of context or that it was a joke, but none of that really matters.

What matters is how it was heard by the folks most likely to put those words into action.

Here was what Rolling Stone Magazine had to say about it:

But it's really irrelevant what Trump actually meant, because enough people will hear Trump's comments and think he's calling for people to take up arms against Clinton, her judges or both. Though most of the people hearing that call may claim he was joking, given what we know about people taking up arms in this country, there will undoubtedly be some people who think he was serious and consider the possibility.

In other words, what Trump just did is engage in so-called stochastic terrorism. This is an obscure and non-legal term that has been occasionally discussed in the academic world for the past decade and a half, and it applies with precision here. Stochastic terrorism, as described by a blogger who summarized the concept several years back, means using language and other forms of communication "to incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable."

Exactly.

If heaven forbid somebody were to actually make an attempt on Hillary's life right now, that would absolutely be blamed on this statement, whether fairly or unfairly.

Just like what happened to Sarah Palin after Gabby Giffords was shot.

However the underlying concern here is that the words spoken by Presidents, and presidential candidates, are heard all over the country. By the sane, the relatively sane, and those not even in the same ballpark as sane.

That means they have to choose their words with exceptional care, and as we know even when they do that they are misunderstood and mischaracterized by the media.

Simply put Donald Trump is somebody who NEVER seems to choose his words with care, and this last inflammatory statement is just the latest in a never ending stream of inflammatory statements.

All of that should have taken Trump out of the running for the Republican nomination, but since it failed to accomplish that back then it is up to the general election voters to stop him before one of his inflammatory statements causes the economy to crash, destroys diplomatic relations with our allies, or starts a potential nuclear war.

And if you think any of that is hyperbole, you have not been paying enough attention.

Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes has the perfect response to C-Span caller's list of grievances against the President.

So during an interview on C-Span's Washington Journal the host opened the phone lines to take questions from callers.

One such caller started to rattle off a list of grievances, and conspiracy theories, that included virtually everything but the kitchen sink.

More from Politico:

Himes smiled during much of the statement, during which the caller rattled off a number of complaints, including the claim that the White House and not Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was responsible for the October 2013 government shutdown. He also referenced older issues like his comments about the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates and the Justice Department’s Fast and Furious program.

“Any other president would have been laughed out of office by now if he’d have been a Republican,” the caller concluded. “This guy gets away with murder!”

“That was quite a list,” Himes said with a laugh.

The congressman initially appeared willing to address all the issues, but then decided against it, saying that it would take hours to address the numerous complaints leveled at the administration.

“I will try to attend to — actually, I’m not going to,” he said. “Look, with all due respect, Bob, maybe a little more C-SPAN and a little less Fox News. That was the grab bag of everything that Fox News and my friends on the Republican Caucus of the House in particular have tried to hang on the president.”

Himes then picked one of the issues — the attacks in Benghazi — and defended the White House against what he called conspiracy theories from conservatives.

“There’s been absolutely zero evidence that the president had any hand in any one of these so-called scandals that the Republicans have desperately been trying to promote,” he continued, saying that the GOP was trying to deflect from the improving economy under the president.

Perfect.

That should now be the go to response for any accusations tossed at this President from the Right Wing, "Maybe a little more C-Span, or any reality based news program really, and a little less Fox News, Right Wing radio, or Sarah Palin Facebook rants."

If people followed that advice I think the President's poll numbers would climb significantly.

The House of Nerds parody is not to be missed!

Okay they totally mocked the hell out of a certain crazed half term wingnut living by a dead lake with those Big Gulps. (Is that enough clues?)

Here's the thing, Palin wants to be talked about, but the ONLY way she gets mentioned is as a punchline. Which, in turn, makes her CRAZY with jealoussy.

And that, by the way, is essentially what we at IM predicted over three years ago. I have to admit, it is not often that one of my predictions hist so close to home.

By the way just in case people have forgotten that once upon a time Palin damn near threw herself at out POTUS, here is a reminder of how she was vag-blocked.

Forever DENIED!

So how's that Mitt Romney campaign going? That badly huh?

From the Guardian:

Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney's much-heralded economic speech flopped Friday, overshadowed by a gaffe over luxury Cadillacs and his choice of an over-ambitious venue, the Detroit Lions' football field.

Romney opened himself up to derision for choosing a 70,000-seat stadium which attracted just over 1,000 people, many of them school children bussed in to help fill out the crowd, tucked into a corner of the astro-turf pitch.

(Photos courtesy of the Obama Diary.)

The small crowd underlined again his inability to draw large numbers of supporters and to excite the conservative base.

Jesus, I saw more people than that stopped alongside of the road to watch a moose strip the bark off of a tree over near the high school. Though to be fair, a moose eating bark is MUCH more entertaining than anything Mitt Romney has to say.

And THIS my friends, is the man the Republicans are very, very slowly choosing to go up against our President.

Here is some video taken by C-SPAN of the "event."

It is only seventeen seconds long so you MIGHT be able to stay awake until the end. But nobody is going to blame you if you doze off. Did you make it? Yeah me neither!

Gee I wonder how Romney's ability to draw a crowd stacks up to Obama's ability to draw a crowd?

Yep, kinda what I thought.

President Obama's speech from the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner.

The President really knocked'em dead!  But check out the grim visage on Trump's face. The guy looks like he is wants to be anywhere in the world but sitting in that room.

I saw Seth Meyers monologue as well  and he also went after Trump mercilessly. Hey the guy wanted to be the center of attention, and he got exactly what he was asking for.  So fuck him for being able to dish it out, but not take it.

By the way here is a picture of Bristol from the dinner.

Personally I think she looks nice.

You know, considering.
