E-mail between Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton shows Powell instructing her how to avoid having her e-mails become part of the official record.

Courtesy of CNN:

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell told his successor, Hillary Clinton, that he used his own personal computer to communicate with friends and foreign leaders and sent emails without going through the State Department server, according to emails released Wednesday by congressional Democrats.

Clinton has previously said she reached out to Powell when she began serving as the nation's top diplomat to find out how he used personal devices. In a four-paragraph email response from Powell, he told Clinton he didn't use a BlackBerry, but detailed how he got around having his communications with both employees and people outside the State Department becoming part of the agency's official record.

"What I did do was have a personal computer that was hooked up to a private phone line (sounds ancient). So I could communicate with a wide range of friends directly without it going through the State Department on their personal email accounts. I did the same thing on the road in hotels," Powell wrote.

Powell also admitted that he conducted business with foreign leaders on his private e-mail account, and warned Clinton to keep her Blackberry use private so that it would not be considered part of the official record.

Gee that does not sound like Colin Powell's version of events at all now does it?

Staying with Clinton's e-mail kerfuffle, FBI Director James Comey also just released a memo defending his decision not to prosecute and his decision to make the FBI notes public:

"We don't play games," the FBI director said as he further defended his decision not to recommend charges in the matter.

"[D]espite all the chest-beating by people no longer in government, there really wasn't a prosecutable case," Comey wrote in the message obtained by ABC News. "The hard part was whether to offer unprecedented transparency about our thinking."

"I'm okay if folks have a different view of the investigation (although I struggle to see how they actually could, especially when they didn't do the investigation), or about the wisdom of announcing it as we did (although even with hindsight I think that was the best course)," Comey said. "[B]ut I have no patience for suggestions that we conducted ourselves as anything but what we are -- honest, competent, and independent. Those suggesting that we are 'political' or part of some 'fix' either don't know us, or they are full of baloney (and maybe some of both)."

Comey told his employees they “may be sick” of hearing about the Clinton email probe, and he ended his message by saying, “I will try not to bother you with this any longer.”

Last night during the Commander-in-Chief forum Hillary also stated once again that she did not send nor receive any e-mails with the official markings of a confidential document.

And whether the Right Wing likes that or not it is supported by the FBI's investigation.

They still hate the GOP-majority Congress because it can't deliver the alt-right demands to stop every single friggin' thing Obama tries to do.

I just got goosebumps listening to Hillary Clinton's Charlottesville North Carolina speech.

Hillary brought up how Trump talked about killing terrorist families.

Then Hillary talked about the Bin Laden mission and brought up when one of our helicopters was damaged in Bin Laden's compound and had to be blown up, our soldiers gathered the women and children (terrorist families) in the compound and moved them a safe distance away from the helicopter they were about to blow up so they wouldn't be killed or hurt.

Hillary showed how our soldiers did the opposite of what Trump would have done which was to kill terrorist families.

Comey and the State Dept say some of the emails contained information that was classified at the time whether they were marked or not. So I don't believe she's helping herself claiming no emails were "marked" as classified. She makes it sound like if they weren't marked, they weren't classified and that is untrue. She's leaving herself open to the question that maybe she couldn't recognize classified information if it wasn't marked. And that would be a bad thing for aSec of State not to be able to recognize when something she's reading is or isn't classified. If she can't, she's not as knowledgeable as she claims.

No, 10:34, they were not all classified after the fact.

Comey said in his July 5 statement, "From the group of 30,000 e-mails returned to the State Department, 110 e-mails in 52 e-mail chains have been determined by the owning agency to contain classified information at the time they were sent or received."

So that makes you the dumbass, dumbass. Read the statement for yourself and inform yourself.

11:19 - I'll give you an example from the emails that shows what you've written is untrue.

Some of the emails the FBi recovered from Clinton's server were between diplomats in Pakistan and DC and contained references to planned drone strikes, emails that were forwarded to Clinton's personal email account by her staff. Drone strikes are classified information. The emails weren't marked. The information in the messages was nonetheless classified. Not being marked didn't make the information unclassified. That is one of the points the FBI made about carelessness and that there may be consequences - loss of security clearance, disqualification from getting a security clearance - for individuals involved. And that diplomats and staff, including the Sec of State, should have the knowledge to recognize classified information whether it's marked or not.

"...Hillary also stated once again that she did not send nor receive any e-mails with the official markings of a confidential document... it is supported by the FBI's investigation."

That's incorrect. FBI just showed us an email from her private server that was marked (C) for Confidential which is a classified marking.

FBI hasn't said she received or sent NO emails with classified markings. They've only said that there were emails on her server that contained information that was classified at the time.

    1. The FBI said there were only three e-mails with a "C" in the body of the message, and none with the official classified markings in the header.

And none of those three were sent, or forwarded, by Hillary.

And once again the entire argument is moot because there is no evidence that her server was ever hacked, while there IS evidence that the State Department e-mail server was hacked.

If our enemies retrieved secrets from hacked e-mails those came from the White House, the State Department, the FBI, or the NSA. NOT from Hillary's oh so "vulnerable" e-mail server.

FBI Director Admits Hillary Clinton Emails Were Not Properly Marked Classified
      by Tommy Christopher | 2:21 pm, July 7th, 2016 VIDEO 244

Hillary Clinton‘s political and media critics jumped all over a key portion of FBI Director James Comey‘s lengthy statement on the investigation into email practices at the State Department in which Comey said that a “very small number” of emails sent or received by Secretary Clinton “bore markings indicating the presence of classified information” as evidence that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lied when she said she hadn’t sent or received material that was marked classified.

At a Congressional hearing Thursday morning, however, Comey admitted that the three emails to which he was referring were not, in fact, properly marked as classified, and that even a person with reasonable expertise in identifying classified material could make the “reasonable inference” that these emails were not classified:

"The FBI said there were only three e-mails with a "C" in the body of the message"

Well, no, Gryphen, that's not what the FBI has said either. The FBI has said there were emails with "C" markings. The FBI has said at least 3 mails contained information that was classified at the time.

Back to my point: "C" is a classified marking. 3 is a quantity more than zero. So the statement, "She did not send nor receive any e-mails with the official markings of a confidential document" isn't accurate. I don't think you deliberately wrote something that's untrue.

Actually laurensd1, I'm right to point out where Gryphen is mistaken. He's not helping Clinton by misreporting the facts about her email. In fact a lot of Clinton's problem right now results from when her fans and surrogates have misrepresented the facts about the emails, whether intentionally or unintentionally. She has admitted it was a mistake. Take her word for it. Insisting it wasn't after she's said it was a mistake doesn't help her. Crowing that it may actually a good thing because the State department system got hacking and the FBI found no evidence hers was doesn't help her. Claiming absence of evidence is evidence is illogical. Not helping.

What about all of the documents destroyed ILLEGALLY by the Bush administration, on behalf of Bush and Cheney, when they left office? Those documents belong to the Federal government but Bush and Cheney thought nothing of destroying them all. I suspect there was lots of information in them connecting Cheney's secret energy meetings in 2001 with subsequent events in the Middle East, otherwise there would have been no reason for the document destruction. No fuss was made at all by the media.
