New York bombing suspect in custody after shoot out with police.

Courtesy of WNBC:

Ahmad Rahami, a 28-year-old U.S. citizen born in Afghanistan, was taken into custody after a gun battle with police in Linden, New Jersey, that left two officers injured, four law enforcement sources and other officials said.

At least one officer was shot in the chest during the takedown, but was not seriously wounded because he was wearing a bullet proof vest. The other was hit by glass shrapnel, officials said.

The shootout came hours after the FBI released a wanted poster showing photos of Rahami, sought in connection with bombings that rocked a crowded Manhattan neighborhood and a Jersey shore town over the weekend. It wasn't immediately clear if the suspect was linked to five pipe bombs -- one of which was inadvertently detonated by a robot -- found at a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, late Sunday, not far from where Rahami was later captured.

I was watching the news this morning which said that the officer found the suspect asleep on the ground in a doorway, and when he tried to wake him Rahami started shooting striking the officer in his bullet proof vest.

The police also said that it appeared that he did nothing to cover his tracks and they even found one of his fingerprints on an unexploded device.

Now of course law enforcement officials will have to determine if Rahami had any accomplices or if he was working with a terrorist group.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was working with Trump. How in the hell could Trump know about the bombing before the media?

I seriously doubt that Trump "knew" anything other than shouting 'terrorist bombing' was what his rabid supporters wanted to hear. Remember 1995? The Murragh Federal Bldg in OKC was bombed by a 'middle eastern terrorist' who turned out to a disgruntled white man?

I guessed too that the bomb maker would be an ISIS type follower - a lone wolf. I doubt if this guy was connected to Trump. I do remember very well the anti-Muslim attitude over the Oklahoma City bombing, yet I suspected it was a domestic terrorist considering the target.

Thank goodness the bombs did minimal damage and there were no serious injuries. However, we know there will be others. Trump is spreading hatred and fear and reveling in these attacks.

Which is exactly his (& Daesh's) goal. Feed the young Muslim men propaganda about how the US is an imperial oppressor, then get the US to actively discriminate against them. Soon, the only apparent "friend" they have is the people who are causing the problem in the first place.

Daesh is a cult that has a well-honed strategy for converting Muslims. A big part of that strategy is trying to show that the US mainstream is against them. It is the same strategy that the alt-Right is using.

So the next bomber will make sure to wipe off all evidence on the bomb. Don't give away the trade secrets fellas.

"Trump told “Fox and Friends” that a double standard was at play. He pointed to the fact that CNN’s initial report on Clinton’s statements did not include her own reference to a “bombing.”

“They took it out,” Trump lamented of the media. “If that happened to me, do you think they would take it out? They don’t only take things out ― it feels like they add things. These people are the most dishonest people.”"

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-on-new-york-bombing-i-called-it-before-the-news_us_57dfe1a9e4b08cb140969f3c

Trump is coming for our First Amendment:

"Republican nominee Donald Trump cited “freedom of expression” Monday as a potential roadblock in the fight against terrorism, remarks that set a troubling precedent if he’s elected president in November.

While speaking about the recent bombings in New York and New Jersey, Trump suggested that press freedom is preventing law enforcement from arresting the publishers of bomb-making instructions.

“I see the other day, and they’re all talking about it so wonderfully, because, you know, it’s called freedom of the press, where you buy magazines and they tell you how to make these same bombs that I saw,” Trump said in an interview on on “Fox & Friends.” “Now people will go crazy, they’ll say, ‘Oh Trump is against freedom of the press.’ I’m not against. I’m totally in favor of freedom of the press. But how do you allow magazines to be sold?”"

"What’s chilling about Trump’s remarks isn’t his criticism of jihadi propaganda ― which is clearly awful ― but his casual dismissal of “freedom of expression” and “freedom of speech,” bedrocks of American democracy, as potentially disposable in fighting terrorism. He presented an ominous scenario on Fox News in which U.S. counterterrorism is being stymied by the First Amendment, though didn’t provide evidence to support his assertion. Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly expressed unwavering support for the Second Amendment and against restrictions on guns.

Monday’s comments also follow actions by Trump which have already invited comparison to autocrats like Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, each of whom severely clamped down on free expression and the press in their respective countries. Over the past year, the Republican nominee has blacklisted, ejected, restricted, and mocked journalists covering his campaign and suggested libel laws should be opened up to make it easier to sue news organizations.

Trump voiced concerns in the past about free expression, including calling in December for “closing” up parts of the internet.

“Somebody will say, ‘Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech,’” Trump said. “These are foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people.”"

If Sarah Palin found that bomber sleeping in a doorway and took her Uzi off of safety and started spraying the doorway with a full mag and switched clips, that guy would not have one bullet hole in him

IF and only if that guy didn't move and accidentally walked into a stray shot.

Cheeto hair is thumping his chest claiming he called it first and Obama and Hillary are too afraid to call it Radical Islamic Terrorism. The guy's about as smart as Cheeto hair, left fingerprints on the pressure cooker and bought two disposable phones in his own name. Trump thinks this is a game and "I got it first, so I won" gets him brownie points.
Credit goes to POTUS, the FBI, Police and Hillary for their ability to keep their intel under wraps until the facts are in. There ARE afghans who are christian, and even if they're Muslim, not all muslims are criminals or terrorists just as all other religions, there's good and bad.

"Rahami had travelled several times to both Afghanistan and Pakistan, people who knew him said on Monday night, and on his return appeared to have been radicalised.

Flee Jones, who grew up with Rahami, said that when he returned from one of the trips, he had a beard and wore traditional Muslim robes. He started praying regularly in the back of the family's chicken restaurant.

It was reported on Monday night that Rahami had married a woman in Pakistan and later applied for her to come to the US. Her current location was unknown.

In 2011 he spent time in Quetta, Pakistan, which is a stronghold of the Taliban. Between 2013 and 2014, he made another trip to Pakistan, staying there for 11 months, another official added."
