I think it is going to be very interesting and possibly quite important as it is the first time before the debates that we will see Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump appear on the same stage, albeit not at the same time.
Hillary is going to take the first half hour with Trump bumbling through the second.
They will also be taking questions from a live audience comprised mainly of members of the military.
I of course will be tweeting along with this as well and you can follow me by clicking here.
I have to admit that my first instinct tells me that Trump is going to face plant hard tonight, since I have been listening to him speak on military issues lately and it is like hearing a three year old discussing quantum mechanics.
However there are likely to be tough questions for Hillary as well.
Well I have my popcorn and beverage of choice at the ready so let's do this thing.
Update: Crap that was over fast.
Here are a few of my tweets for those who missed this first half with Hillary.

There I said it, and it needed to be said.
Hillary's knocking it out of he park tonight.
ReplyDeleteMinnesota thing. Just lost my mind here. Fucking "A" bubba.
DeleteAm watching Rachel and thinking I would like an adult beverage. I would probably end up like the Palin's so ... can't.
Oh. Well. A little wine won't hurt.
Unfortunately, I missed listening to Hillary. Trump has already lost my interest. I hate everything about him. I just can't watch.
ReplyDeleteOMG.
ReplyDeleteTrump is fucking nuts.
Nuts.
God help us.
My husband and I are laughing our asses off...either that or we'd be crying.
I thought this was an hour each. Though not sure I could take an hour of Trump. Lord, what an idiot.
ReplyDeletei thought it'd be an hour each, too. too bad. it went by so quickly. i wnated hillary to speak a little more quickly and answer a few more questions. trump sounded like an idiot.
DeleteTrump, your first 120 days how would you de-escalate tensions with Russia.
ReplyDeleteWhy I would kiss his ass so hard my lips would fall off.
I think my TV is broke. Donald Trump's face is red. Looks like he broke some blood vessels in his cheeks and forehead.
ReplyDeleteYeah, my TV seems to be broken in exactly the same way.
DeleteI cannot bring myself to watch Trump. Will read all the reviews when it is completely over.
ReplyDeleteAgree G., Hillary is a true stateswoman and it shows.
ReplyDeleteTrump is a joke. First word for that interview; immature.
He likes Putin because he said wonderful things about him. He thinks he can negotiate with leaders of the free world and thinks he can drop the insults once President. The looks on the faces and the silence in that crowd sure says 'this party died'.
Trump is asked about sexual assaults in the military. Should ask Donald about his sexual assaults in the United States of America. Donald did you rape your wife? How much interest have you shown your daughter, the one if she wasn't your daughter?
ReplyDeleteFUCK DONALD, what is wrong with your skin tone?
ReplyDeleteHaha - Hillary never addressed Donald Trump's name. She calls him her opponent. I can't blame her. Why dignify the Office of President and Commander-in-Chief with the candidate of 'they all love me, look at the polls, 88 military leaders all love MEEEEE!!!!"
ReplyDeleteHe is such a stupid fuck.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I just can't stand him.
As more and more of the military's top brass, active and retired, publicly voice their refusal to support Trump, I hope that the rank and file begin to follow their lead.
ReplyDeleteTrump is not only dangerous to world peace and national security, but the Republican policies that he will promote have continually proven to be detrimental to those serving and their families.
I've got a couple of cousins in the military, and they're both there. (And both are women.) I'm expecting to hear from them, and if I'm not sworn to some sort of weird family secrecy, I'll pass what they say along.
ReplyDeleteOooooooo, fill us in!!!
Delete"weird family secrecy" ha, we have that too!
DeleteSo far, all I know is that they're not sure they're allowed to comment. They're both active military, so there's all sorts of orders about these things. DAMMIT!!!!
DeleteOh Geeze what the hell was that???? All he was did was attack and praise freaking Putin...HRC was frank and to the point. We are royally screwed if he wins...Putin love, a super secret plan...taking oil??? On national t.v. FFS!
ReplyDeleteYou got it. Right.
DeleteWhy in heck does no one call him out when he says, "Obama just left Iraq." He HAD to leave Iraq-Bush signed the papers. God I hate the GOP.
DeleteYou know what else? MSNBC showed the "I never supported the Iraq War" clip a half dozen times, and never once bothered to show the proof that he DID support Bush. Come on folks. I knew Matt Lauer "not my job" would let him lie, but the rest of you?
FUCK MATT LAUER
DeleteHe is like Joe Miller. Just disgustingly oily looking..
I watched most of Hillary. Left the room st the end. But, I listened to him.
ReplyDeleteShe tried to not mention him. He spent a great deal of time complaining about her and our President. The rest of chest thumping.
But, the military in the room knew what was up. She received very enthusiastic welcome and almost as much when she was done. He got polite applause and nothing else.
Now now, at least Trump kept pulling out his pocket constitution to... oh that was a fan list?
ReplyDeleteI did see two of his endorsing generals interviewed recently. Neither had a cogent thought they could express about The Donald.
Mildred
Trump is carrying around a pocket Constitution now?
DeleteGee, I wonder what gave him that idea.
(Not that it will do any good. He's not going to absorb it via osmosis through his ass.)
Trump is carrying around a pocket Constitution now?
Delete---------
Nope, it was the list of generals who endorsed him. It's much more beloved by him than any old constitution!
I'm beginning to believe he doesn't know what role the Sec. of States plays (I know, big surprise). He talks about her like she was already the president. Hillary did this, Hillary does that. Many of those decisions are made by the Commander in Chief not the SOS. He lies even when shown the clip of him saying stupid stuff. I agree that the applause was only polite for Trump.
ReplyDeleteMaybe tRump would be happier running for a public office in Russia?
ReplyDeleteMatt L. is being ripped to shreds online. I never watch him - did not know what a -rick he is.
ReplyDeletePat Padrnos
My brother went to college with him at Ohio University. He was a douche back then too.
DeleteI was so pissed at Lauer I could hardly sit still. I thought Hillary was awesome. She provided context, details and insight, but all he wanted was sound bites, and kept interrupting her. He needs to find a new job.
DeleteNope. Trump is just creepy liar freaky. The guy is a pile and attracts flies. How on earth can any American support that doofus delusional crazy? His type created America's problems and now he wants to fix them? like his manners and businesses are examples. ))))whew(((( the insults!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, everything in America is already wrong, broken, ... Weord logic, and only he can fix it all. How stupid. His son is stupid, "he talks to really, really smart people". He gets tired, see him, listless, he is just too old.
DeleteGreat line from commenter on CNN...Trump said nicer things about Putin than he did our generals.
ReplyDeleteYeah, calls our generals trash. Nice opinion from a guy who wants to be their boss.
DeleteSo agree with your opinion on Trump, Gryphen! And, this is the man that Lisa Murkowski (US Congress/Alaska) supports! JHC!
ReplyDeleteTrump had his Palin moment when Matt asked him how he had been preparing for the Presidency, and he had nothing.
ReplyDeletePresident Donald Trump with his sons Barron, Eric and Donald Jr and along with the heart of his groin Ivanka on day one will put together a plan to defeat ISIS, Black Lives Matter and all those murdering Mexicans. Where did Donald and his children train to defeat the above groups? The Trump family went to the Trump Military Institute and the Trump Defense University.
ReplyDeleteHow about Melania? Will Melania have a say on who Donald would bomb first? Not until Melania first gives her immigration press conference.
I think Wife Three is history. What a stupid dress for a 46 year old who wants to represent is as First Lady. Her boobs were almost out, just the way Donnie must like to see them. And she never smiled once. Nor did the children..they are like a Stepford Family.
DeleteMaybe melania is dead.
DeleteThe best nicknames I've heard for Trump's kids are: Uday, Qusay and Lolita.
DeleteHe likes Ivanka better and he can leer at her. He doesn't have to worry about getting it up, which I doubt he can.
DeleteThe other pictures of him and her on Huff post are as creepy.
It almost looks like he would rub his hard on on her and deny it.
I have zero patience with Trump supporters.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who supports that wet sack of shit is either an idiot, a bigot, or both.
And they talk to a Marine Sgt. who was "undecided" before and was still undecided. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that a lot of active military may have been told to keep any comments vague and polite.
DeleteWow, Trump was empty. Same old rally stuff, with a couple pieces of info with stats in them. He tossed out the tidbits about how close a plane had come to ours and that boats were circling our ships. But he otherwise worded things so generally whenever he talked. It was always a “they” doing this or that. And then he brought out the letter, as planned. So amateur.
ReplyDeleteThat army vet who asked him about the 20 suicides a day (and he tried to CORRECT her!) tore him a new one the hour after with Rachel.
DeleteT.Rumps stats were wrong; the vet was correct. It is 22. Which may not sound like much but the difference is 700 fewer funerals per year.
DeleteGee, they're in the middle of the 22 pushups a day for 22 days challenge to bring awareness. You'd have to live in a cave and be completely oblivious not to know.
DeleteOh...sorry. Trump. Explains everything.
My DIL has a friend doing that..seems pretty stupid..if you do 22 sit-ups a day, you contribute nothing but 22 videos online. Wow. Such sacrifice. Must be a bunch of Republicans. Democrats would be doing fund raisers on the corner. The GOP wants their out of shape bodies online for 22 days, after which they go back to their lives.
DeleteWant to read about someone in the military who did his utmost in very real and substantial ways to reduce veteran suicides, all while undergoing treatment for terminal cancer? He had himself considered suicide when in Iraq. Google Major Justin Fitch. Here are some links; there are many: https://www.army.mil/article/156663/Cancer_claims_crusader_against_veteran_suicides and http://thechive.com/2015/10/04/american-hero-justin-fitch-has-passed-away-6-photos/ and http://havokjournal.com/culture/major-justin-fitch-i-lost-a-hero-today-so-did-you/
DeleteJustin was from my area of the midwest and was an alum of the same university as me. He was only 33 when he died.
A vile piece of filth like Trump will never be, could never be, qualified to be Commander-in-Chief of someone like Major Fitch.
No matter what the format, when Trump is asked a question he uses a lot of words, often repeating them over and over. Unfortunately, he never includes any thoughts in those words. They are just words. His vocabulary is pretty small.
ReplyDeleteSounds like $arah. Lots of words, says nothing, small vocabulary. You left out, blames everyone else.
DeleteGeorgiaPeach
He knows words, he knows the best words.
DeleteHe's just keeping them to himself.
And no matter what the rules he'll break them.
DeleteHillary followed the rules, Trump broke them by attacking her and Obama repeatedly.
But the media applauds his every utterance as if each one made any sense. Like Bush, he gets credit for sitting or standing and looking more or less awake. At the same time, Hillary Clinton or whatever Democratic candidate is also present is considered stiff, stuffy and too full of facts - in other words, not as much fun. Absolutely disgusting.
DeleteBeaglemom
I noticed the physical differences. Hillary was on her feet, talking TO the people even when she was getting no feedback from them (were they told not to react?)
DeleteHe sat on his big rump the entire time, and often looked AWAY from the service member asking the question. Then of course, he never answered them.
So, after many weeks he had Melania there. And she had on a tank top dress with her cleavage showing. When Trump wanted the camera to go to her, it was when he mentioned the generals sitting in the audience.
ReplyDeleteDid you see how happy the family looked? Like a bunch of Macy's store dummies.
DeleteOh, she is alive.
DeleteMatt Lauer is an imbecile.
ReplyDeleteYou're being glib Matt. - T. Cruise
DeleteIf this does not enter idiots in the Trumpette column, I don't know what does. The relaxing thought is the upcoming debates will uncomplicate much.
ReplyDeleteI have been in Queens, (he never got out), and the better part of Manhattan as of late.... He is dust.
Eat shit and die, buster.
BTW. Sarah, you are trashed even by Trumpettes. What the hell happened, dearie?
Gryphen, as a long time reader of your blog, I took a turn for the childish and immature and called Trump a shit head on Twitter. I am so disgusted with him, I got back into second grade with him. What a dipshit.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with telling the truth. He IS a shithead. And that's being complimentary.
DeletetRump and pootin bring out the gasy truth and cause potty mouth.
DeleteHere's my favorite review of the show, courtesy of C4P:
ReplyDelete"Hillary looked uncomfortable, rattled and angry. Was defensive. Trump looked in command. Was answering each question with ease and confidence. Slam dunk."
Where was this quality of weed back when I was still indulging?
Yep they are on something.
DeleteOnce again trump was handled like the man boy that he is. NBC handled him like a special soft little draft dodger sitting in a full house of veterans. And treated Hillary rude, awful, insulted her, and allowed that nasty man boy to lie lie lie and commit perjury.
DeleteI'm trying to think of which question he 'answered.' He talked after each one, but there were no answers. Are these people on an IQ level with he Palins?
DeleteThe follow up MSNBC shows, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell are invaluable for explaining and expanding the points and issues...watch them if you can.
ReplyDeleteAnd then, Rachel on the first segment of Brian Williams' new show with...Nicole Wallace!!
DeleteOh of course. Wallace, the woman who hated Plain, supports her candidacy, and hates Hillary. Great choice, Brian.
DeleteWe r in 21st century. He is bad in 1600. Omg. What a stupid idiot. Oil will be gone.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that he said, "People don't know this, they don't know that Iraq has the most oil reserves on the planet." Well, gee, Donnie, we do know, and we also know that's why Darth and his puppet declared war in the first place. You may be late to the game, but America knows, and disagrees.
DeleteBy the way, I doubt you ave pumped gas since you were 16 and had your first Mercedes, but gasoline is lower than it ever was under the Bush cabal. We don't need that oil, and we are exporting OUR surplus oil now. God, what a moron you are.
Hats off to those of you with the emotional and intestinal fortitude to watch. The mere thought of this forum which legitimizes Trump makes me ill.
ReplyDelete62 more days and nights 62 more days and nights of djt and network. What a complete dangerous idiot and dope the gop has produced for America.
ReplyDeleteCommunist Russia network owns this man boy slob.
Maybe trumps mr lago butler knows what he said?
ReplyDeleteBREAKING: U.S. Senate Moves To Investigate Donald Trump For Human Trafficking
ReplyDeleteExcerpt: By law, people visiting the United States from a foreign land are not allowed to attain employment via an American company. Trump, however, is known for not only hiring illegals, but hiring them for the specific reason of not having to follow US labor laws.
Models hired by Donald Trump’s Model Management have come out against the mogul, saying they were barely able to making ends meet after paying the high cost of rent and fees bestowed on them by the company. Trump profited $2 million dollars in the 17 years the company has been in existence.
The openly anti-immigrant candidate is being accused of “illegally importing” women to work as models in his agency, and while this makes him look like a giant fool, it could also hold legal ramifications that would leave Trump paying a hefty fine, and possibly even serving jail time for human trafficking.
http://bipartisanreport.com/2016/09/07/breaking-u-s-senate-moves-to-investigate-donald-trump-for-human-trafficking-details/
http://edition.cnn.com/2016/08/23/world/canada-indigenous-sex-trafficking/index.html
DeleteHey, $carah, get Duh on this case immediately if not sooner also, too!!
DeleteYes, it looks like a case for the new head of human trafficking in the entire world, Duh Meyers! Strap on those guns, Duh, and get on the first plane south. Your fund-raising buddies in Texas need your expertise and vast knowledge of prostitutes and pimps. Be careful though, Ivanka might stare you down if you go after Daddy Warbucks.
DeleteI just couldn't watch. I am sorry Hillary. You have my vote. But I couldn't watch the press give Donald any more free time. I couldn't stand to listen to his voice for one more second. It's like listening to Sarah's voice and bile. I just can't take it anymore. Have mercy!
ReplyDelete...Trump has been telling the whole world about how he’ll make our economy boom. He’s going to cut taxes, but not cut Medicare or Social Security. He tells blue collar workers that he’ll renegotiate all our trade agreements to bring their jobs back. He’s going to balance the federal budget within seven years. He has something for everyone, but no plan to pay for any of it.
ReplyDeleteOr does he?
Trump’s senior economic adviser, Stephen Moore, held a hush-hush meeting with the vice president of the Council for National Policy, Bill Walton. In that meeting, Moore revealed a lot of the ins and outs of the campaign’s ideas for paying for his plan, and the whole thing smacks of far-right, free-market, trickle-down, anti-government conservatism unlike anything we’ve seen before.
Moore wants Trump to eliminate the Department of Education, Department of Commerce, and Department of Energy, just to start. That will cost, oh, about 150,000 jobs or so. Not to mention that, with the elimination of the Department of Commerce, we’ll lose the U.S. Patent Office, the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and more. Trump believes, however, that this is the source of a lot of crony capitalism and corporate welfare. So make it disappear!
They also want to get rid of the Department of Education. That, however, will cost us a uniform accreditation process for colleges and universities, along with everything having to do with grants and student loans. No biggie, everyone can just get private student loans from their own banks, right? Right. Even if they’re the poorest of the poor. They’d have to, seeing as how it’s not likely Congress will pass universal post-secondary education anytime soon.
It’s Moore that’s pushing Trump to do something about the Department of Energy. including ending the energy subsidies. Eliminating the entire department will probably cost us every national laboratory we have that deals with energy research and development. This includes the famous Los Alamos National Laboratory, which was responsible for developing the atom bomb. They also work on nuclear research, cryogenics, and more (maybe they’ll just hand these over to private companies with profit motives).
He actually said, in that meeting:
“I mean, my God, why do we need an Energy Department? All the Energy Department has done in the last 25 years is make energy prices more expensive!”

DeleteDonald Trump’s Latino Problem Is Actually Getting Worse, New Polling Shows
ReplyDeleteWhat’s even more shocking is that the online survey was conducted before Trump’s disastrous trip to Mexico and his anti-immigrant speech in Arizona – two events likely to turn off Latino voters even more.
To put it in proper perspective, former Republican nominee Mitt Romney carried nearly 40 percent of the Latino vote in Florida in 2012 – and he still lost the state to President Obama.
http://www.politicususa.com/2016/09/07/trumps-latino-problem-worse-national-poll-shows.html
But Trump said he was showing grand leadership in Mexico, telling the Mexicans exactly where "hour country" stands regarding many issues. The man is delusional. Dangerous and delusional.
DeleteTo hear the Republican minded people on different sites, and newspaper comment sites, you would think Trump had won this round. When others thought Matt Lauer gave him an pass and not Hillary. I didn't watch but I am sure there will be over coverage of every little nuance. But somehow Trumps love for Putin will go unnoticed. His followers are drunk on the kool-aid, and Putin is laughing his lil white ass off over there. It's a matter of months until I own those bitches over there he is telling his comrades, and they are smiling in glee. All because Donald owes them money, Americans are willing to fall for the sell. Vote Hillary. We can't let this happen.
ReplyDeleteHaving grown up in the 1950's and 1960's I simply cannot imagine how today's GOP is willing to fawn over Putin who is nothing less than a Stalin-wanna-be. Slightly o/t, I'm not at all surprised that the media is praising Trump. The media always seems to prefer bluster to fact, show to reality. Let's hope that when people are actually voting in November, they realize that there is no choice: it's Hillary Clinton or Putin's not very bright puppet.

Trump Held Fundraiser For Pam Bondi At His Palm Beach Mansion After She Passed On Lawsuit
WASHINGTON ― In March 2014, Donald Trump opened his 126-room Palm Beach mansion, Mar-a-Lago, for a $3,000-per-person fundraiser for Pam Bondi, the Florida attorney general who had recently decided not to join a lawsuit against Trump University and was facing a tough reelection campaign....
All this money created the appearance that Donald Trump was thanking Bondi for halting any further investigation into his failed seminar programs. Trump’s efforts to boost her politically came during and after a period when Bondi was under pressure to pursue allegations that those seminars were defrauding consumers.
The use of Mar-a-Lago alone was a donation of some value. Space at the resort is expensive to rent, and Trump has charged his own presidential campaign roughly $140,000 per event for use of the mansion.
In contrast, the Republican Party of Florida paid only $4,855.65 for the Bondi fundraiser, cutting a check on March 25, 2014....

ReplyDeleteSenator Calls for Homeland Security to Investigate Trump's Model Agency
"I am extremely concerned by the claims levied against Trump Model Management."
JAMES WEST SEP. 7, 2016
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) is calling on federal authorities to investigate Trump Model Management for alleged labor and immigration violations, in the wake of a Mother Jones investigation of the company.
Three former Trump models, all non-US citizens, told Mother Jones they worked for the GOP nominee's agency while on tourist visas. Immigration laws require employers to seek work authorization for any foreigner they hire. Financial and immigration records included in a recent lawsuit filed by a fourth former Trump model indicate that she also worked for Trump's agency without a proper visa.
"I am extremely concerned by the claims levied against Trump Model Management and ask that you open an investigation into the company's employment practices," Boxer wrote in a Wednesday letter to León RodrÃguez, the director of the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), a part of the Department of Homeland Security.
Boxer wrote that the allegations in Mother Jones' exposé were "disturbing," and she called on the agency to "make clear that immigration and labor violations like these will not be tolerated." The letter was also sent to Labor Secretary Tom Perez.
Two of the former models told Mother Jones that they were coached on how to evade the scrutiny of immigration and customs officers by using fake pretenses for entering the country and even writing false addresses on customs forms....

I'll bet I had a much better time too.
The Donald claims that after the Iraq war "we should have taken the oil."
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't someone ask him, "HOW would we have done that?"
Iraq is a sovereign nation. Is he seriously suggesting that the United States can invade other sovereign nations and take their stuff?
Something else no one ever asks Donald, "HOW are you going to PAY for that?"
Hillary talks about getting things done and Hillary KNOWS HOW TO GET THINGS DONE in Washington.
Trump is all bluff: he doesn't have a CLUE how Washington works so he just throws out nonsense. You can see it in his face, his posture. I'd LOVE to play poker with Donald Trump. If you can't see Donald Trump's "tells" when he's on these debate-type things, then you don't know how to play poker.
Matt did ask him, and he bluffed. He's a buffoon. And each event is making that clearer. How any general can even look this cheater and liar in the eye and think he's capable of being CIC is terrifying.

When Hillary says it was a mistake voting for the Iraq war, I wish she would add because Bush et all lied to Congress about the situation. The GOP has very short memories and needs to be reminded of the facts.
