Shooting back against Katie Couric's deceptive presentations in a gun documentary is good news.
It's a shame it takes a lawsuit to force journalists to acknowledge their unethical practices, but if their clouded conscience lets them sleep at night amidst feeding the public lies, then litigation must awaken them to the public's right and expectation to read, see and hear truth.
Let's be thankful the parties suing "The Perky One" have sharp people in their corner with the tools - and the guts - to go after those who've not been held accountable for far too long.

Palin then links to some super pro-gun website that I am afraid to click on as it might accidentally go off and kill someone.
However the story that has her nips super hard like little bullets, is the news that Katie Couric and her partner are being sued for 12 million dollars:
Katie Couric and "Under the Gun" director Stephanie Soechtig are facing a $12 million defamation lawsuit for their roles in allegedly "misleading" edits made in their 2016 documentary.
Virginians Citizens Defense League (VCDL) is taking Couric and her director to court for edits they say made VCDL members appear stumped by Couric's gun control questions, when in fact they were not.
A clip in the film appears to show nine seconds of silence after Couric asks them, "If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?"
Now Couric has already acknowledged this deceptive editing and apologized for it as well:
“When I screened an early version of the film with the director, Stephanie Soechtig, I questioned her and the editor about the pause and was told that a ‘beat’ was added for, as she described it, ‘dramatic effect,’ to give the audience a moment to consider the question. When VCDL members recently pointed out that they had in fact immediately answered this question, I went back and reviewed it and agree that those eight seconds do not accurately represent their response….I regret that those eight seconds were misleading and that I did not raise my initial concerns more vigorously.”
Yeah well that's not enough. After all this is the pro-gun crowd we are talking about so they want to see blood.
So with the backing of the gun lobbyists and ammosexuals they are planning to not only punish Couric and her partner for what is a rather minor editing choice, but also to send a message to anybody else who would dare to challenge their dominance over American culture.
Remember guns good, government control bad. (Unless of course we are talking about a woman's right to control her own reproductive process that is.)

It's not joy. It is fact both cbs and abc edits interviews. The Gibson intetview, many of her answers were cut down. In one he agreed with her but the network couldn't let that happen. This is written fact. Sarah doesn't gloat. She knows firsthand how deceptive and manipulative th Media is. Like when reporters turned her friends words negative. It's sad. Sarah Palin can hurl all of the insults she wants at "The Perky One" (a juvenile name that she associates with Katie Couric. Katie has worked in TV since 1979, and it is not her fault that Sarah Palin could not answer even the most simple questions that Couric asked.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not what books Palin read. Couric asked if there was another Supreme Court Decision that Sarah did not agree with, in addition to Roe v. Wade. The answer that anyone in Alaska should have thought of was Exxon Valdez, where they paid millions in fines instead of the billions of dollars of damage that their oil leak caused. It's an Alaska issue.
It wasn't "What do you read to inform your world opinion?" It was the defensive way that Sarah reacted. She was angry that question was asked. Didn't she realize that as Vice President, she would have to answer even harder questions? Sarah may have bluffed her way into the office of Governor, but she couldn't fool the Lower 48. It wasn't Katie Couric's fault that Sarah was unprepared for the job that she was nominated for. She still is unprepared and unqualified to hold any office. All that Katie Couric did was to give Sarah the opportunity to show how little she knew. Sarah still can't get over it, 8 years later.

Actually, I have not seen or heard of this film, but I saw another that Katie did-- Fed Up about fast foods...they did the exact same thing to a colleague of mine--an obesity expert they interviewed and they asked a question and then paused it so it looked like he couldn't answer. But in fact, this guy is brilliant and when I saw it I was flabbergasted because it was very unfair and biased. So now reading this, I"m not shocked. It's one thing to have a point of view, it's another thing to manipulate--thats what Fox News does after all. So actually Katie probably deserves based on what they did to an innocent and fair objective and knowledgable obesity expert in Fed Up.

I doubt this case will go anywhere, defamation because they appeared "stumped" by the question, how has this impacted their lives, did they lose their jobs because of it. Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteSarah is still mad because Katie Couric exposed her ignorance. Sarah was lucky they left most of the interview on the cutting floor, because Katie said they cut a lot of the more damning parts.
So sarah calls Katie "the perky one"? What does Katie call sarah, "the jerky one"? Or like 85-90% of the American public calls her, justifiably so, "the stupid one"?
