Bill Maher's New Rules was pretty great last night.

There was a lot of very interesting debate last night (He even had the Liberal Redneck on!), but for me the best part might have been Maher's final remarks:

"You can unfriend somebody whose politics you don't like, but you can't unfriend 47% 0f America. Roommates can move out, patriots can't. America needs you, more than ever. Right here. With me. And the rest of the resistance. Until we can figure out how to REALLY make America great again. And don't ever let them forget, we're still here."

Yes, yes we are. And we will definitely some back in larger numbers and with more focus than ever before.

Remember progress IS coming.

Ever once in a while it just temporarily loses its way.

    I like Bill Maher. :-)

Y'all quit complaining to the choir and get dialing!

A friend just spoke at length with her representative's (a woman named Nancy Pelosi) SF office. If you're a Democrat in any state at all, you should be able to call her, because she's House minority leader.

The substance of this call: the state of WI ignored a judicial ruling that they overturn and remedy some of worst of the new voter restrictions.

80K votes were missing after the computer "glitch" in Durham, which has NC's highest concentrations of African American voters.

Both of those were states Clinton lost by less than the amount of missing votes. In both states, especially in WI, they may affect the down ticket races as well.

ADDED: 800K mail-in votes in FL were "never returned" according to the election board there. INVESTIGATE!

Call your local party HQ PLEASE! Ask them to get an injunction in both states until this is remedied.

    Nancy Pelosi's SF office #: (415) 556-4862

FLOOD THEM with calls. Do it before 5:30 PST. At 6 pm every day, they give Pelosi a written concise of every call they've received.

    1. Anonymous5:25 PM

What part of this election was stolen do you not get?

The powers that stole the election aren't going to reverse the stealing because a bunch of people protest.

Were you not alive in 2000? It is what it is. Just go with it and relax, we can't change anything.

    2. Anonymous6:44 PM

WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS??? No source, no statement, no call!

    3. Anonymous10:32 PM

    4. Reddit isn't a "source". Neither is Twitter.

How about a link to a legitimate news source?

I will say I read an account from a Florida radio station website reporting on absentee ballots never arriving so that people could vote and return them. One guy flew to Florida just to vote. Another drove 26 hours back to Florida to vote. The woman in Hawaii couldn't do a damn thing and cried because her right to vote was taken from her.

Along with the shake up and reorganization of the Democratic Leadership there needs to be a big push to stop vote suppression and voter disenfranchisement. Fucking Roberts needs to eat his ruling and reverse gutting the voter rights act and put those counties back on notice.

It's not just the electoral system that is fucked. It's the voting. It's the gerrymandering.

There is a shitload to fix and very little time to fix it. The Republicans are going to have Congress and the White House in their pockets for TWO YEARS before we can hope to do anything. The Democrats probably won't win enough seats in 2018 to take back the Senate so you're looking at FOUR YEARS. With three Supreme Court judges over the age of 78. Plus Trump gets to replace Scalia. Man, I hope the Democrats in the Senate have enough backbone to filibuster that for four years. Give the gander a good saucing. No more polite. No more Mr. nice guy.

    OT?"“finds this conduct deplorable"

    1. And where is President-elect Trump?

Did he go to any Veteran's Day memorials? (Nope)

Why hasn't he condemned the acts of his minions?

Does he not believe his Deplorables are capable of committing such racist, bigoted, sexist acts? (Perhaps he is clueless as to where their inspiration comes from?)

"In the wake of Donald Trump’s election, the news is flooded with reports of abuse, assault, and harassment, largely of minorities, by jubilant Trump supporters celebrating the ascent of their candidate, a candidate who campaigned by appealing to white heterosexual Christian supremacy.

Over the past 48 hours, women have been assaulted for wearing the hijab, property has been defaced with swastikas, LGBT Americans have been threatened, and African Americans have experienced election result-specific harassment by fellow Americans touting the election of Donald Trump as the dawn of a new America, apparently one where they consider that the ugliest of racial and social animus to have the seal of presidential approval."

  4. Anonymous4:54 PM

Trump should be really proud at this moment, making his America great again:

  5. Anonymous5:02 PM

OT. But Trump is anything but a regular politician and this has been anything but a regular election. Trump will be only the fourth candidate in history and the second in more than a century to win the presidency after losing the popular vote. He is also probably the first candidate in history to win the presidency despite having been shown repeatedly by the national media to be a chronic liar, sexual predator, serial tax-avoider, and race-baiter who has attracted the likes of the Ku Klux Klan. Most important, Trump is the first candidate in memory who ran not for president but for autocrat—and won.

I have lived in autocracies most of my life, and have spent much of my career writing about Vladimir Putin’s Russia. I have learned a few rules for surviving in an autocracy and salvaging your sanity and self-respect. It might be worth considering them now:

    1. Anonymous11:02 PM

    1. Anonymous7:27 PM

Good to know! I'll pass that one on!

    2. Anonymous7:51 PM

I saw that on facebook with all her #MAGA bullshit. They have lost my business forever!

    3. I've stopped reading Dilbert. I can't stand it now that I know how much of a Trumpoholic the cartoonist is.

Wait until all those small businesses and farms that hire illegal aliens find out they are going to have to pay legal wages.

And I don't see any unemployed coal miners or autoworkers picking lettuce, washing dishes or cleaning rooms.

    1. Anonymous8:33 PM

As a software engineer, I know that if you don't resolve the root cause of the issue, you'll never resolve the issue. These politicians have no interest in resolving the root cause, because it's the "job creators". The higher-ups who break the law never get punished. It's the little guys they enabled to break the law that get punished. Look at the Wells Fargo crap, with the falsifying of credit applications. Think about it: With all Trump's tough talk on immigration, has he EVER proposed punishing the employers?

    2. Anonymous10:49 PM

I remember a few yrs ago one southern state tightened up on illegal farm workers, I think it was Alabama( but I could be wrong) if my memory serves me correctly. I saw a farmer complaining that his vegetable and fruit crops( watermelon) were rotting in the fields because there was no one to pick them. He was sitting with his whole family, him, his wife, 3 teens children, 2 boys and a girl. But they sure as hell weren't out picking crops for themselves.
Do that nationwide and see what happens to food prices and then see the uproar.

    3. Anonymous2:42 AM

This scare went thru SC back in 2010. Farmers still hired undocumented workers to do the jobs that whites will not do.
When's the last time you saw a bunch of white faces out in the fields?

Hillary Clinton’s Popular Vote Victory Keeps Growing

She is up by 1.8 million votes, with millions still being counted in California.

    1. As of 4am Nov. 13 she lead Trump by 630,877.

The gap just keeps widening. Still millions of absentee and provisional ballots in California to count.

  13. Anonymous7:46 PM

What Just Happened And Why I Won’t Accept It

...What I don’t get and what is disturbing and even traumatizing, is that the president-elect is a crude, corrupt, and contemptible charlatan. He is a self-proclaimed billionaire whose bankruptcies have cheated thousands of workers and small business owners out of their paychecks. His “university” robbed hundreds of their money and their dreams of advancement. And his dishonest dealings with dozens of charities cheated them out of promised support. Feigning concern for the “forgotten middle class,” Trump did prey off the fear and anger of those who have felt betrayed by a system that was, in fact, rigged against them. But he provided no constructive solutions, offering instead the vague promise of a return of “lost glory,” all the while fueling their fear and stoking the embers of their anger with scapegoats to strike out against: Mexicans, immigrants, Muslims, and the urban poor. He made fun of the disabled and displayed a deplorable lack of respect for women. And on a number of occasions, he brazenly encouraged his supporters to use violence against those who opposed him.

    1. Anonymous8:49 PM

That's just it. Even if his voters didn't find his sexual assaults and cheating on Melania, even during her pregnancy, and everything else a total turnoff, when it came to what he did to the little guy, people should have turned against him. He treated people just like themselves like dirt, yet it made no difference. This is one reason why I am sick and tired of being told that his voters are not racists, etc. and that a lot of them voted out of a fear re the economy. No way. If they really were worried about the economy, all the info--there was so much out there--re his behavior stiffing people and so on would have made them turn against him. They would have stuck up for all the little guys he hurt.

    2. Anonymous9:43 PM

      @Anonymous 8:49 PM

His supporters ARE racists. They have no reason to worry about the economy, the economy is in a good place, and has been progressing every since President Obama get in office.

Bush trashed the economy and the racists had nothing to say.
President Obama comes in and fixes Bush's mess, but the racists still won't admit the economy has been going up under President Obama.

    3. Anonymous6:50 AM

Gon't be so dense 9:43, many Trump voters (your so called racists), voted Obama once or twice under the promise of hope and change. The promise of hope and change never happened. They voted in an outsider who talked to them. Your racist bullshit is just that. Bullshit.

It is the economy. It always is the economy.

  14. Anonymous8:22 PM

I'd like to share something I just saw on FaceBook. You know those local "yard sale" pages? A young woman from an affluent town posted the following:

"Hi. My name is xxx and I live in xxx with my husband and 3 kiddos. There are many reasons people spend holidays alone. If you don't have somewhere to spend Thanksgiving, I invite you to spend it with us over a pot luck feast..."

I don't know who they voted for. They don't care who they're inviting voted for.

I'd say this post brought a tear to my eye, but the truth is I bawled my eyes out.

  15. Anonymous8:31 PM

    1. Anonymous10:53 PM

Funny how no media outlet uses the term thug when the criminals are white and how the powers to be always seem to withhold the names of criminals when they are white.

  16. Anonymous8:34 PM

    1. That's why he got elected.

And the media not doing their job by educating the public. It wasn't hard to spot months before the election. During the primaries was enough. They could have stopped him then. But the ratings meant too much to them.

I haven't posted this in a while. I think we need to revisit it:

      Danger signs of fascism:
      1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism.
      2. Disdain for the importance of human rights.
      3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause.
      4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism.
      5. Rampant sexism.
      6. A controlled mass media.
      7. Obsession with national security.
      8. Religion and ruling elite tied together.
      9. Power of corporations protected.
      10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated.
      11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts.
      12. Obsession with crime and punishment.
      13. Rampant cronyism and corruption.
      14. Fraudulent elections.

Bush hit quite a few of these markers. Enough to cause alarm. Just look how many Trump has hit and has promised he is going to implement.

  17. Anonymous8:52 PM

He's behind Hillary by 28 points in CA. He lost to her by 21-22 in NY. He beat her by 1.3 in FLA. This guy thinks he is so mister New York and mister cosmopolitan and mister metropolitan. He thinks he's a mover and shaker and so significant. And he needs to have these states see him that way. But they don't. They have let him know it. Love it.

    1. Anonymous10:57 PM

Well California has gone blue the last 7 elections.

New York has gone blue the last eight elections.

And you think the fact Trump didn't turn these highly democratic states actually means something?

What are you guys gong to come up with next?

    2. He won but he's still a loser.

He'll lose the popular vote by one of the highest margins by the time all of the votes are counted.

So an empty victory. Plus he is going to be subjected to a living hell as president. He had no idea what he was getting in to.

      It will get worse.

He wants rallies? He better not. His Trumpoholics have already given him an ultimatum on his promises. Deliver or else. He's walking back almost every one of them. 2,000 auto workers in Ohio and Michigan are going to lose their jobs right after Christmas.

His supporters are going to riot and protest themselves.

EVERYBODY is going to HATE Trump.

For someone that lives for approval that is going to make the job of president even less appealing.

Maybe we won't have to wait for impeachment. Maybe he'll either resign or drop dead within the first year.

    3. Anonymous6:47 AM

"He'll lose the popular vote by one of the highest margins by the time all of the votes are counted."

You must be high. You are saying around 0.4%, less than half a percent, is one of the highest margins ever counted?

    4. 6:47

I'm saying he lose the popular by one of the highest margins while still winning the electoral college.

Most of the times that's happens the count has been very close. It won't be this time.

He's at 47.2%. He isn't going to gain much on that.

Clinton leads him by 630,877 votes. That margin is only going to get larger.

But you go ahead and continue to LIE with statistics and semantics. It's what the alt-right Republicans do so well. Just Deplorable.

  18. I was threatened and harassed within MINUTES of Hillary's concession speech.

Normally, all that would do is encourage me to be an even BADDER hombre. (And an ARMED one.)

But considering the obscene SWEEP of fascists across the nation, now in complete control of the entire government, I decided to "lay low," and to advise people I know who have a "look" about them which puts a target sign on their back, to do the same.

I can easily imagine a cheesy sci-fi movie scenario, in which the snotty little girl from next door, turns me in for being "disloyal" to the new regime.

If I was still 18 years old, that would NOT be my plan...I'd be one of those people screaming NOT MY PRESIDENT!

I see posts telling the protestors to shut up and act like good little puppets.

U.S. History student in the near future:

"Why did the people in 2016 just stand around like a bunch of stooges, too stupid to even SAY anything about a fascist coup taking place around them?

They were no better than the Germans who did nothing about the Nazis taking over their nation, decades earlier."

I would agree if I were a republican or democrat, but since I am an independent whose party also was hijacked. No. All of us had ancestors who fought against and died for the very issue we face today. We don't roll over, forget, forgive or allow espionage or treason. We do not elect dictators. We do not allow rigged elections. We do not bow to dictators. We do not allow take overs of our parks and buildings. And we will die defending our Nation, its Constitution, its History and it Citzens! That is what made America Great then and that is what and why we are Great today. We the people of America are all immigrants from all over this Globe that fled dictators and injustice. We the Americans will destroy and convict communism, dictators and hateful tiny man boys that lie, cheat and steal. This election is not over until the criminals are convicted, And America elects her next USA President. period.

      Trump loves the uneducated.

Someone In Trump-Land Just Leaked a List of Cabinet Positions--And "Secretary" Sarah Palin Is On It

There are several tweets at the link above mentioning Sarah Palin:

"Sarah Palin considered for secretary of the interior"

Does... Trump know that has nothing to do with decorating?

    1. If they make her Secretary of the Interior it's only window dressing to cover that Donald Jr. is really running it. He wants Interior. Shares Palin's love of mass killings of wildlife. He'll make the decisions. She'll just draw the paycheck and reap the "prestige."

It will also be a great tell about exactly how pathetic the Trump administration is going to be.

      Ben Carson Secretary of Education?

      Yeah, that's an indicator too.

  27. Sharon1:30 AM

I just finished watching Michael Moore's, great documentary. I have always been a huge fan of his movies and trust what he says, it is really nice to see him being recognized as someone to listen to finally. It is too bad that he didn't take that show through the entire rust belt as it really might have made the difference. The more days that go by the more hope I have that Trump won't even make it to Jan, although Pence is still a major nightmare. Mike takes it step by step, slow but sure to explain Hillary...the woman, not the politician. He begins his show by explaining the Trump voter, without being mean, but the actual reasons these men voted for him. It wasn't was the economy stupid! In the end he twirls the story into Hillary's history from college...what an extraordinary woman she has always been and how she was hated even in Arkansas because she was a woman, too smart and out spoken...she wasn't planning on baking cookies. When Bill got elected, it was the same ole shit by the good ole boys in DC.....esp her work on healthcare.

The most astounding thing I learned was when Mike told this story. When he was making his last movie he went to Estonia as they have the lowest death rate for women during childbirth in the entire world. There was a picture on the wall with the main doctor there, the very one Mike was talking to...shaking hands with Hlllary, 20 years earlier. Mike was astounded asking why was she here? The doctor explained she was working on healthcare for America and wanted to know what they were doing, going around the world to learn what was working. The doctor said how sad it was that not only didn't we listen, but we crucified her in the press.

So again, she had been forced to shut up, change her appearance and be the good wife, all for the love of her husband. She was a damn good senator, well liked by everyone...then SOS, still with high approvals. Running for president meant all the forces were needed to sabotage her...the entire right wing army on alert.
So between the media, the FBI, the GOP, Wikileaks, Russia, voter suppression, voter ID's...plain old ballot tampering all put together still couldn't stop the popular vote going to Hillary. This was her time to make things right for all those unheard voices, she would have taken care of us like good mothers do.

I read today that the Keystone Pipeline is now a go because Trump has investments, along with half our congress and of course the Koch Bros sooooooo....
the first big reward going to the poor white Trump supporters is going to ruin the underground water for the entire midwest while making them all tons of money. Lets not forget its a company in Canada doing the work. It only took 2 weeks for the Brits to figure out how bad they screwed up....4 million signatures for a do over...hahahahhaha

    1. Anonymous9:25 AM

      Thank you for this.

    2. Michael Moore should be in the new DNC leadership. He KNOWS the people and has read the situation spot on. He stands with Bernie and Elizabeth.

First order of business is to win that senate seat in Louisiana, which will NOT be easy. Then rebuild to take the Senate in 2018. If Trump continues as he is, the path should be clearer to taking back the White House in 2020. Maybe even the House. That's what we're going to need. Both houses, the White House and Ginsburg, Kennedy and Breyer to live another 4+ years.

  28. Anonymous2:11 AM

Prior to the election of 2008, the republicans created a bad economy, stole all the money, tanked housing, cost of living, everything to declare that they are lousy liars, racist, hateful, ugly and deranged. It worked. Consumers stop spending. Suddenly it hit home. Prices came down, customer service improved and message was sent. Any corporation or individual that works for a fraudulent election and white house is on wrong side of the American people. If trump doesn't get dumped and resign....Americans will dump the economy by non spending, cancellations, terminations, lack of interest, faulty products, lemon laws, and many many more. Trump is not the president. It was a rigged election and must thrown in the garbage along with the trump yard signs. No go for the stupid trump show.

  29. Anonymous2:15 AM

Don't let up until we dump trump history. There is no place in history for a rigged election. Demand Action and a NEW straight up election between Hilary and Bernie, paper ballot, count every vote. NO fraud by liars

They are not going to come back in any way you may recognize.
So now maybe you understand what the Native Americans have always known.
How does it feel? Kind of nauseating?
So let's just say what our forefathers said.
