Bill Maher's New Rules was pretty great last night.

There was a lot of very interesting debate last night (He even had the Liberal Redneck on!), but for me the best part might have been Maher's final remarks:

"You can unfriend somebody whose politics you don't like, but you can't unfriend 47% 0f America. Roommates can move out, patriots can't. America needs you, more than ever. Right here. With me. And the rest of the resistance. Until we can figure out how to REALLY make America great again. And don't ever let them forget, we're still here."

Yes, yes we are. And we will definitely some back in larger numbers and with more focus than ever before.

Remember progress IS coming.

Ever once in a while it just temporarily loses its way.

Y'all quit complaining to the choir and get dialing!

    URGENT FOR DEMOCRACY SUPPORTERS:

A friend just spoke at length with her representative's (a woman named Nancy Pelosi) SF office. If you're a Democrat in any state at all, you should be able to call her, because she's House minority leader.

The substance of this call: the state of WI ignored a judicial ruling that they overturn and remedy some of worst of the new voter restrictions.

80K votes were missing after the computer "glitch" in Durham, which has NC's highest concentrations of African American voters.

Both of those were states Clinton lost by less than the amount of missing votes. In both states, especially in WI, they may affect the down ticket races as well.

ADDED: 800K mail-in votes in FL were "never returned" according to the election board there. INVESTIGATE!

Call your local party HQ PLEASE! Ask them to get an injunction in both states until this is remedied.

    Nancy Pelosi's SF office #: (415) 556-4862

FLOOD THEM with calls. Do it before 5:30 PST. At 6 pm every day, they give Pelosi a written concise of every call they've received.

SPREAD THE WORD. COPY AND PASTE EVERYWHERE

The powers that stole the election aren't going to reverse the stealing because a bunch of people protest.

    4. Reddit isn't a "source". Neither is Twitter.

How about a link to a legitimate news source?

I will say I read an account from a Florida radio station website reporting on absentee ballots never arriving so that people could vote and return them. One guy flew to Florida just to vote. Another drove 26 hours back to Florida to vote. The woman in Hawaii couldn't do a damn thing and cried because her right to vote was taken from her.

Along with the shake up and reorganization of the Democratic Leadership there needs to be a big push to stop vote suppression and voter disenfranchisement. Fucking Roberts needs to eat his ruling and reverse gutting the voter rights act and put those counties back on notice.

It's not just the electoral system that is fucked. It's the voting. It's the gerrymandering.

There is a shitload to fix and very little time to fix it. The Republicans are going to have Congress and the White House in their pockets for TWO YEARS before we can hope to do anything. The Democrats probably won't win enough seats in 2018 to take back the Senate so you're looking at FOUR YEARS. With three Supreme Court judges over the age of 78. Plus Trump gets to replace Scalia. Man, I hope the Democrats in the Senate have enough backbone to filibuster that for four years. Give the gander a good saucing. No more polite. No more Mr. nice guy.

      NO MORE POLITICALLY CORRECT!

Does he not believe his Deplorables are capable of committing such racist, bigoted, sexist acts? (Perhaps he is clueless as to where their inspiration comes from?)

"In the wake of Donald Trump’s election, the news is flooded with reports of abuse, assault, and harassment, largely of minorities, by jubilant Trump supporters celebrating the ascent of their candidate, a candidate who campaigned by appealing to white heterosexual Christian supremacy.

Over the past 48 hours, women have been assaulted for wearing the hijab, property has been defaced with swastikas, LGBT Americans have been threatened, and African Americans have experienced election result-specific harassment by fellow Americans touting the election of Donald Trump as the dawn of a new America, apparently one where they consider that the ugliest of racial and social animus to have the seal of presidential approval."

OT. But Trump is anything but a regular politician and this has been anything but a regular election. Trump will be only the fourth candidate in history and the second in more than a century to win the presidency after losing the popular vote. He is also probably the first candidate in history to win the presidency despite having been shown repeatedly by the national media to be a chronic liar, sexual predator, serial tax-avoider, and race-baiter who has attracted the likes of the Ku Klux Klan. Most important, Trump is the first candidate in memory who ran not for president but for autocrat—and won.

I have lived in autocracies most of my life, and have spent much of my career writing about Vladimir Putin’s Russia. I have learned a few rules for surviving in an autocracy and salvaging your sanity and self-respect. It might be worth considering them now: http://www2.nybooks.com/daily/s3/nov/10/trump-election-autocracy-rules-for-survival.html

These politicians have no interest in resolving the root cause, because it's the "job creators". The higher-ups who break the law never get punished. It's the little guys they enabled to break the law that get punished. Look at the Wells Fargo crap, with the falsifying of credit applications. Think about it: With all Trump's tough talk on immigration, has he EVER proposed punishing the employers?

I remember a few yrs ago one southern state tightened up on illegal farm workers, I think it was Alabama( but I could be wrong) if my memory serves me correctly. I saw a farmer complaining that his vegetable and fruit crops( watermelon) were rotting in the fields because there was no one to pick them. He was sitting with his whole family, him, his wife, 3 teens children, 2 boys and a girl. But they sure as hell weren't out picking crops for themselves.
Do that nationwide and see what happens to food prices and then see the uproar.

What Just Happened And Why I Won’t Accept It

...What I don’t get and what is disturbing and even traumatizing, is that the president-elect is a crude, corrupt, and contemptible charlatan. He is a self-proclaimed billionaire whose bankruptcies have cheated thousands of workers and small business owners out of their paychecks. His “university” robbed hundreds of their money and their dreams of advancement. And his dishonest dealings with dozens of charities cheated them out of promised support. Feigning concern for the “forgotten middle class,” Trump did prey off the fear and anger of those who have felt betrayed by a system that was, in fact, rigged against them. But he provided no constructive solutions, offering instead the vague promise of a return of “lost glory,” all the while fueling their fear and stoking the embers of their anger with scapegoats to strike out against: Mexicans, immigrants, Muslims, and the urban poor. He made fun of the disabled and displayed a deplorable lack of respect for women. And on a number of occasions, he brazenly encouraged his supporters to use violence against those who opposed him.

That's just it. Even if his voters didn't find his sexual assaults and cheating on Melania, even during her pregnancy, and everything else a total turnoff, when it came to what he did to the little guy, people should have turned against him. He treated people just like themselves like dirt, yet it made no difference. This is one reason why I am sick and tired of being told that his voters are not racists, etc. and that a lot of them voted out of a fear re the economy. No way. If they really were worried about the economy, all the info--there was so much out there--re his behavior stiffing people and so on would have made them turn against him. They would have stuck up for all the little guys he hurt.

      Ignorance.

And the media not doing their job by educating the public. It wasn't hard to spot months before the election. During the primaries was enough. They could have stopped him then. But the ratings meant too much to them.

I haven't posted this in a while. I think we need to revisit it:

      Danger signs of fascism:
      1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism.
      2. Disdain for the importance of human rights.
      3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause.
      4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism.
      5. Rampant sexism.
      6. A controlled mass media.
      7. Obsession with national security.
      8. Religion and ruling elite tied together.
      9. Power of corporations protected.
      10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated.
      11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts.
      12. Obsession with crime and punishment.
      13. Rampant cronyism and corruption.
      14. Fraudulent elections.

Bush hit quite a few of these markers. Enough to cause alarm. Just look how many Trump has hit and has promised he is going to implement.

I just finished watching Michael Moore's Trumpland....wow, great documentary. I have always been a huge fan of his movies and trust what he says, it is really nice to see him being recognized as someone to listen to finally. It is too bad that he didn't take that show through the entire rust belt as it really might have made the difference. The more days that go by the more hope I have that Trump won't even make it to Jan, although Pence is still a major nightmare. Mike takes it step by step, slow but sure to explain Hillary...the woman, not the politician. He begins his show by explaining the Trump voter, without being mean, but the actual reasons these men voted for him. It wasn't race...it was the economy stupid! In the end he twirls the story into Hillary's history from college...what an extraordinary woman she has always been and how she was hated even in Arkansas because she was a woman, too smart and out spoken...she wasn't planning on baking cookies. When Bill got elected, it was the same ole shit by the good ole boys in DC.....esp her work on healthcare.

The most astounding thing I learned was when Mike told this story. When he was making his last movie he went to Estonia as they have the lowest death rate for women during childbirth in the entire world. There was a picture on the wall with the main doctor there, the very one Mike was talking to...shaking hands with Hlllary, 20 years earlier. Mike was astounded asking why was she here? The doctor explained she was working on healthcare for America and wanted to know what they were doing, going around the world to learn what was working. The doctor said how sad it was that not only didn't we listen, but we crucified her in the press.

So again, she had been forced to shut up, change her appearance and be the good wife, all for the love of her husband. She was a damn good senator, well liked by everyone...then SOS, still with high approvals. Running for president meant all the forces were needed to sabotage her...the entire right wing army on alert.
So between the media, the FBI, the GOP, Wikileaks, Russia, voter suppression, voter ID's...plain old ballot tampering all put together still couldn't stop the popular vote going to Hillary. This was her time to make things right for all those unheard voices, she would have taken care of us like good mothers do.

I read today that the Keystone Pipeline is now a go because Trump has investments, along with half our congress and of course the Koch Bros sooooooo....
the first big reward going to the poor white Trump supporters is going to ruin the underground water for the entire midwest while making them all tons of money. Lets not forget its a company in Canada doing the work. It only took 2 weeks for the Brits to figure out how bad they screwed up....4 million signatures for a do over...hahahahhaha

First order of business is to win that senate seat in Louisiana, which will NOT be easy. Then rebuild to take the Senate in 2018. If Trump continues as he is, the path should be clearer to taking back the White House in 2020. Maybe even the House. That's what we're going to need. Don't let up until we dump trump history. There is no place in history for a rigged election. Demand Action and a NEW straight up election between Hilary and Bernie, paper ballot, count every vote. NO fraud by liars

It's about time everyone over the age of 50 realizes that they are dinosaurs.
The election is over and we are on our merry way in a hand basket.
Your old values, obviously, are now defunct.
They are not going to come back in any way you may recognize.
So now maybe you understand what the Native Americans have always known.
      HOPELESSNESS.
How does it feel? Kind of nauseating?
So let's just say what our forefathers said.
      "Love it or leave it".
      I will take the latter.
