Donald Trump’s feud with Megyn Kelly was way darker than any of us knew. Kelly received so many death threats and so much harassment from Trump supporters after confronting him at the first Republican debate with a challenging question about his many, many misogynistic statements that she needed a special security detail for a year.
The Trump campaign stoked the flames of the Kelly hate, the Fox News host told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an interview on Wednesday, to the point that one of the top executives at Fox News had to explain to one of Trump’s top employees why if she “gets killed” it might be bad for their campaign.
“Michael Cohen, who is Trump's top lawyer and executive vice president with the Trump Organization had retweeted ‘let’s gut her,’ about me,” Kelly said. “At a time when the threat level was very high, which he knew. And Bill Shine, an executive vice president of Fox, called him up to say, 'You got to stop this. We understand you are angry but she's got three kids and is walking around New York.' ”
“And he didn't much care,” Kelly continued. “And what Bill Shine said to Michael Cohen was, ‘Let me put it to you in terms you can understand: If Megyn Kelly gets killed it is not going help your candidate.’ ”
Yes let's help crazed Trump supporters learn to respect human life by telling them that somebody being killed might hurt their candidate's chances in an election.
Seriously?
In fact things got so bad that Kelly brought armed security staff with her and her family on their trip to Disney World:
By the time the mother of three flew to Disney World for vacation, it was with her “family — and our security guard,” she writes. “Yes, we took an armed guard to the Magic Kingdom. More guns, more guards. My year of Trump.”
And look America you just reinforced this type of behavior by allowing the internet troll come to life who inspired to move into the White House.
After this shitshow of an election, I'm not entirely convinced it would have hurt the Trump campaign.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both. when he boasted that he could shoot somebody on 5th avenue he wasn't so wrong.
DeleteWhat Megyn Kelly put up with is probably nothing to what Katy Tur has had to deal with, and probably still is. I hope NBC/MSNBC is protecting Tur.
DeleteI might feel sorry for her if she would have spoken out before the election.
ReplyDeleteShe is only speaking out now to sell books. She is well off, white, never was a real target like the millions of minorities that will be speaking out.
Fuck the GoPee, fuck Sanders, fuck the 3rd party voters, and fuck Rachel Maddow. All of those listed will be responsible for the death of every minority during the tRump yrs. While we knew we would be battling the GoPee, we didn't realize we would be battling the others on the list.
Aw, go fuck yourself. You are just as hateful and divisive as any trumpster. Only those who are in compliance with your vision are worthy, right?
DeleteYou should GFY, 5:50pm. Trumpster fans lack a basic sense of common decency. It goes far beyond disagreeing with someone on policy. I have no sympathy for Megyn Kelly. I'd bet she still voted for Trump. Even if she didn't, she still spews her right wing anti-progressive propaganda every night on Fox.
Delete@ anon 5:50pm
DeleteGo suck on tRump's microdick, that's what you dream about.
Go fuck all of youse! None of you are doing a damn thing to improve the situation, unless hurling insults from behind a computer counts. Get off your fat asses and do something besides acting like internet tough guys. Probably a bunch of old grannies who think throwing the f bomb makes you bad.
Delete@7:12, didn't you just throw the f-bomb? Does that make you an old grannie like Sarah Palin?
Delete7:12 ,What are you doing?
DeleteWhite people built a great country and shared it with all races to flourish. If they or you can't appreciate it, then STFU and go somewhere else.
Delete@ 11:17
DeleteOh really? They shared it with all races?
Well, yeah, I guess they did; by forcing the black man here in chains and almost totally destroying the native peoples already here. Is THAT your idea of sharing?
As far as most minorities are concerned, the white man wants to keep total control for themselves and keep them under their thumbs. And that includes women!
Yes, the Founding Fathers wanted to create a country where all shared equally, but in their original version it wasn't exactly the most equal of ideas, was it? It improved ON PAPER with time, but with this past election - and the bigoted, hateful people who have been elected and are being put into positions of authority - it may be headed into a return to the old ways of white man in control and screw those who don't agree.
Not my idea of a shared great country.
On the other hand, it is now time - and will be as long as that POS is in the White House, and then some - to work harder than we have in the past and correct a major mistake. And we start with letting the OTHER politicians in power know exactly what we think of their ideas and laws and stand up to the screamers who agree with them with intelligence and analysis and knowledge of the past so decent decisions can be made.
Telling people to STFU and appreciate it or leave doesn't help and only sounds like Humpty Trumpty and his ilk.
Anon at 11:17 pm. Everyone who was here in those early days worked to build this country. And remember we stole the land on which it was built from Native Americans. We've never properly repaid our debt to them. White supremacists like you need to learn some history.

In the PRO-LIFE party, we are all expendable. Life is only sacred while in the womb.
ReplyDeleteWe must stand up to racism, bullying and evil, more now than ever.
History has taught us that evil prevails when we are not courageous enough to risk our safety by taking a stand.
I would rather die that allow history to judge me a coward.

It's disgusting and infuriating what happened to her and her family.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, if she and Nancy O'Dell had come forward with the full info on what they had endured, all the horrible people who couldn't take the word of twelve assaulted women and that Billy Bush tape seriously would have listened. Kelly says no, but I strongly disagree.
And she owed it to the Amer. people to speak up then. I do not buy her "I didn't want the story to be about me" claim. There are times when a person must do the right thing, must step up--and she didn't. And O'Dell, too, is a public figure who should have stepped forward.

DeleteNEWYORKER:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/11/28/obama-reckons-with-a-trump-presidency
As ballots from last week’s presidential election continue to be counted, Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump just keeps growing. The former Secretary of State now leads the president-elect by an astounding 1.4 million votes.
ReplyDeleteAccording to nonpartisan Cook Political Report’s latest tally, which is continuously being updated, Clinton has so far earned 62,916,638 to Trump’s 61,547,058.
Clinton’s growing lead over Trump is only giving oxygen to longshot efforts by some Democrats to pressure the electoral college to choose Clinton as the next president when they officially cast their votes on Dec. 19. One petition pressuring the electors has nearly 4.5 million signers.
Clinton’s unprecedented popular vote lead over Trump is bigger than John Kennedy’s was in 1960 and Richard Nixon’s in 1968, when those two men went on to become president. Trump’s popular vote percentage also falls short of the failed presidential campaigns of Mitt Romney, John Kerry, Al Gore, and Gerald Ford.
With as many as 4 million votes left to be counted in California and Utah, not only could Clinton’s lead surpass the 2 million mark, but she could also close in on Barack Obama’s 2012 vote total of 65,915,795, which gave the current president an easy victory over Romney and four more years in the White House.
Not only did millions more Americans choose Clinton to be their next president, but a clear majority of voters cast their ballot for somebody other than Trump. The president-elect’s supporters may claim that last week’s election results translated to a mandate for their candidate’s agenda, but if anyone received a mandate last week, it was Clinton – by a sizable margin that just keeps expanding.

Who knows what went on behind the scenes. That she comes out "now" when it's too late does not make me think much of her as a journalist. I would have flat walked out, if it were me and my family. She is respected and would have found work elsewhere.
ReplyDelete5:26 PM Easy for you to say.
DeleteTrump Picks Anti-Muslim Extremist Michael Flynn To Be National Security Adviser
ReplyDeleteIf anybody out there is still wondering whether Donald Trump’s reckless and offensive campaign rhetoric would translate to his presidency, the president-elect’s staffing choices during the transition should put all confusion to rest.
According to the Associated Press which cites a senior Trump official, Trump has offered the job of national security adviser to retired Lt. Gen Michael Flynn – an anti-Muslim extremist.
If you weren’t already unsettled, the AP also notes that the role does not require any congressional confirmation and the person who fills the position “has frequent access to the president.”
Flynn has served as an adviser to Trump throughout the campaign, which is unsurprising giving that he and the president-elect hold the same offensive views toward Muslims.
In a tweet earlier this year, Flynn urged his followers to share an anti-Muslim YouTube video, saying that fearing Muslims is “rational.”
Tweet:
http://www.politicususa.com/2016/11/17/donald-trump-chooses-anti-muslim-extremist-national-security-adviser-job.html
Flynn also has very well known and problematical ties to ole Vlad de Ruskie.
DeleteI honestly don't think the thing is making these choices. Some one is feeding him these names just like Manafort fed him Pence as VP when the thing wanted Christie.
DeleteThe thing is nothing more than a dementia ridden figure head for neo nazi uber right wing racists and bigots.
What scares me are his ties to Putin's Russia. The US will have no national security left once Trump's administration is through with it. I guess Republicans will stop wrapping themselves in the American flag. They sure cannot accuse the rest of us of being unpatriotic anymore.
DeleteBeaglemom
"They sure cannot accuse the rest of us of being unpatriotic anymore."
DeleteWanna bet, Beaglemom? Remember, those who believe in Humpty Trumpty DON'T BELIEVE in facts.
OT, but a good article about what Jesse Jackson has said about a blanket pardon of Hillary from Obama. She shouldn't need it, of course, but the GOP are such bloodthirsty animals and you know they'd want to pursue things or at least play head games for years about doing it. I think Obama should very quietly do the pardon. Draw absolutely no attention to it. She shouldn't be humiliated with any of the GOP's behavior, and she shouldn't have to deal with a pardon but it is essential that she get one.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I like Jackson's words about how Trump made race an issue, too. He saw dry field and instead of watering it to make the grass grow, he lit a match to it. That is the kind of person who we will have to have in the WH for four years.

But you gotta make a buck, or two or three million, eh?
Thanks for nothing.

Harry Reid Slams FBI Director As A ‘Republican Operative’ Who Handed Election To Trump

Just read it. It was good to hear the Kennedy voice again. Thank you!
DeleteTrump Nazi Comparisons Are Legit
ReplyDelete...To understand how the Trump anti-Semitism is manifesting itself, two days ago in Pomona California, Ramapo police reported that vandals spray-painted anti-Semitic words, “NO JEWS” on the street and real estate signs in front of three homes for sale. The hate-crime was not random because officials said there had been an influx of Jews moving into the neighborhood, and one wonders if Donald Trump’s call to use Gestapo tactics and regulate the “bad guys” is being answered by his followers.
There was also an incident reported two days ago that involved Jewish American actress Emmy Rossum. Ms. Rossum plays on the Netflix series “Shameless.” She is also another victim “in the wave of Trump fueled hate crimes and harassment of minority communities” in the immediate aftermath of the election. An election, by the way, that is enabling the most perversely racist elements of American society made up of nearly all 56 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump for president.
The actress received a couple of days’ worth of frighteningly disturbing pro-Trump messages via her Twitter account that “explicitly hearkened back to the persecution of fellow members of Rossum’s faith in Nazi Germany.” After putting up with a weekend of hate-filled remarks, Rossum wrote early Sunday on her Twitter page that:
“[T]elling anyone to ‘get ready for the trains’ in reference to WWII is disgusting and offensive. Reporting you to Twitter is not enough. Back off.” And, “Trump supporters are sending me messages threatening to send me [and] my ‘ilk’ to the gas chambers [and] writing hashtags like ‘#sieg hiel.’ NOT OK.”

Donald Trump Takes Credit for Helping to Save a Ford Plant That Wasn’t Closing
WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald J. Trump claimed credit on Thursday night for persuading Ford to keep an automaking plant in Kentucky rather than moving it to Mexico. The only wrinkle: Ford was not actually planning to move the plant.
Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter shortly after 9 p.m. that Ford’s chairman, William Clay Ford Jr., had just told him that Ford “will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky — no Mexico.”
Minutes later, Mr. Trump wrote in a second post: “I worked hard with Bill Ford to keep the Lincoln plant in Kentucky. I owed it to the great State of Kentucky for their confidence in me!” Mr. Trump won 62.5 percent of the state’s popular vote in the presidential election.
During the campaign, he repeatedly criticized Ford for moving production to Mexico, and he threatened to impose a 35 percent tariff on vehicles made there.
Ford makes the Lincoln MKC, a sport utility vehicle, at a factory in Louisville. Last week, Ford said it planned to move production of the vehicle elsewhere. On Thursday night, after Mr. Trump’s Twitter messages, the company said that Mexico had been the intended destination and that it would now keep MKC production in Kentucky.
But Ford had not planned to close the Louisville factory. Instead, it had planned to expand production of another vehicle made in Louisville, the Ford Escape. And the change had not been expected to result in any job losses.

ReplyDeleteYou know how Trump accuses his opponents being what he is? I.E. crooked, Clinton Foundation fraud, rigging, etc.

Does anyone doubt that the only thing stopping Trump from requesting that someone rid him of this worrisome reporter is Fox News threatening to expose them?
Because I'm not sure his campaign would have survived him putting out a successful hit on Megyn Kelly. Not even on 5th Avenue.
