Kate McKinnon singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" may the best SNL cold open ever, and just what this country needed.

I did not know what to expect from SNL last night, but I remembered worrying that I would not be able to laugh at Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump impersonation.

As it turned out I did not have to worry about that, because instead we were gifted with this beautiful song sung by perhaps the most gifted entertainer that SNL has today.

It was haunting, it was beautiful, and it was perhaps just what all of us needed after last Tuesday's terrifying outcome.

    2. A fucking petition isn't going to do anything. Neither is e-mail.

Bombarding the electors with actual paper letters *might* persuade a few. If the addresses could be had. It won't change anything.

But Trump losing the popular vote and then losing a chunk of electors would send a clear message. He does NOT have a mandate. He is not "popular". People in fact hate him. A majority of the population. Even his own party.

They guy loves to be loved. He wants adoration.

That is the one thing we cannot give him.

And NO COMPROMISING. It gains us nothing, weakens our position and the one thing you cannot do is give this man any indication that you might "make a deal."

I hope Chuck Schumer has the balls to stay firm and keep saying NO!

      mlaiuppa -

According to his aides, Trump wants to continue holding the large rallies that he reveled in during the campaign. "He likes the instant gratification and adulation that the cheering crowds provide, and his aides are discussing how they might accommodate his demand."

Those words - "instant gratification and adulation" - say it all. He has no interest in fulfilling the real responsibilities of the Presidency. He only wants the fame and attention the office provides. It is the highest and most public position on the country, perhaps the world, and it was the ultimate prize for his bloated ego.

He won't even commit to living full time in the White House because he prefers his gaudy penthouse/museum to himself in Trump Tower.

      How did this happen???

And what happens when his rallies get smaller and the adulation is no longer there? Where is he going to get his instant gratification when he's attacked on TV, Twitter, newpapers, and finally wherever he makes an appearance. Even if they keep all of the protesters out of his venue, he is still going to see some. If not on the way to and from wherever, then on TV after the fact.

Trump is going to know how hated he is. The instant gratification won't last very long That's the problem with a narcissist. They keep needing that fix. He's peaked. From here on out it's all downhill. He'll never feel that high again.

That was very touching. Maybe the election result has a silver lining that we empower ourselves individually to take a stand for justice, decency, humane treatment, true American ideals when witnessing deplorable behaviors.

It is affirming to see protesters taking a stand who are nonviolent. I feel relief the media is emphasizing and broadcasting why so many object to President elect Trump. I hope the world also sees not all Americans condone the worst in people that candidate Trump encouraged and demonstrated including ignorance.

If Mr. Trump has any intention of actually being the president for all Americans, he has to get out there and condemn all the hate crimes being committed. HE and He alone can do that to help because he is responsible for them. Grow up, Trump, be the leader we all need. (not counting on it, however)

You can't give her all of the third party vote. The only thing you can do is add that vote to the "not for Trump" totals to prove the guy only managed to get about 47% of the nation's vote. Certainly NOT a mandate

With the Deplorables screaming for Trump to make good on his promises all he has to do is make one visit to their district and tell them their guy isn't supporting him, isn't towing the line or is a RINO and should be fired.

That's how authoritarians work. And that's what Trump is. Paul Ryan, if he even keeps his job, is now obsolete. He's a paper leader. He'll be told to get the job done or in two years *he'll* be out of the job. And Trump will see to it that no one hires him.

More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than Donald Trump! That’s right, Clinton won the popular vote, but the electoral college system will silence the people’s voice. But there’s an incredible Hail Mary plan that could still stop Trump -- if we act really fast!

The Popular Vote Plan is genius. It’s legislation that would guarantee the candidate who receives the most popular votes is elected, and it only needs the support of enough states to equal 270 electoral votes to pass. 10 states are on board, and 4 have pending legislation, so it’s already 3/4 of the way there!

This is from the Huffington Post:

In a Sunday appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Ellison diagnosed the party’s recent electoral troubles.

“You’ve got to have a vision to strengthen the grass-roots,” Ellison said. “Make the voters first, not the donors first. I love the donors and we thank them, but it has to be that the guys in the barbershop, the lady at the diner, the folks who are worried about their plant is going to close ― they’ve got to be our focus.”

This is the opinion of the person who will be the next Chair of the DNC. It wasn't just a loss for Hillary Clinton, it was a loss for the Democratic Party. The voters are desperately looking for someone to represent THEM, and they are done with establishment politics.

Now if you want to comment about how Hillary won the popular vote, I say, who's the President-elect? If you want to cry about the electoral college, well maybe you're right. But the rules were the same for both candidates.

A SEA OF 'RED HATS' is coming:
Do You Know Someone Suffering From Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder (TARD)? Know the Signs, Spot the Symptoms, Save a Life

Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder is a pattern of pathologically dissociative and psychotic behavior, first observed in the late hours of November 8th 2016, and increasing in severity with passing time. Sufferers of Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder often exhibit pronounced cognitive dissonance, sudden bouts of rage, uncontrollable crying, suicidal ideation, and extreme butthurt.

    Signs and Symptoms:

People with Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder are characterized by a persistent unwillingness to accept that Donald Trump is going to Make America Great Again. Individual sufferers often display signs of paranoia and delusion; in acute cases psychotic episodes have been observed. Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder is different from being upset about the results of the 2016 presidential election; People with TARD are unwilling or unable to accept reality, despite irrefutable evidence.

According to the DSM-V, individuals with TARD exhibit most or all of the following symptoms:

Telling others they are moving to Canada
Fixated on fantasies about the Electoral College
Protesting an election no credible source contests the outcome of
Exclamations that “Someone” should do “Something”
    Sudden weight gain
Acute change in demeanor from pompous and arrogant to fearful and combative
Claim that anyone who disagrees with them is some combination of Racist, Sexist, Bigoted, Homophobic, and Actually Hitler

    Causes and Mechanisms:

Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder was directly caused by the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States of America. For many, both in America and worldwide, this was a shocking and unexpected outcome; their preferred news sources having failed to inform them that the alternative candidate was a criminal parasite in such ill health she got chucked into the back of a van like a kidnap victim.

Research is ongoing, but TARD appears to correlate closely with the following environmental and behavioral factors:

    Membership in the Democratic party
    Identifying as a Feminist
    Currently enrolled in college, and/or
Possession of a Liberal Arts college degree
    Cuckoldry
Living in a densely populated metropolitan area
    Massive student debt
    Spotty or non-existent work history
    Hipsterism

    Diagnosis:
Diagnosis of Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder is straightforward. Ask the patient if Donald Trump is going to be the Next President of the United States of America. Some patients will become agitated, and may attempt to deflect. It’s critical you press them on the issue, even if they start babbling about ‘muh triggers’. A sufferer of TARD will begin to ramble incoherently, often displaying three or more of the symptoms within a short period of time.

    Co- morbidity:

A diagnosis of Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder is highly comorbid with Paraphilic Infantilism, Emotional Eating, Autism Spectrum, Bush Derangement Syndrome, and adult bed wetting.

    Treatment:

The only known effective treatment is exposure therapy. The patient must be repeatedly exposed to reality, and should wear a Make America Great Again hat as long as they are able to tolerate it. Each exposure should increase in length, after a week the patient should be encouraged to be seen in public wearing the MAGA hat. Coach the patient to refer to Donald Trump as President-Elect Trump.

Patients with TARD are very resistant to treatment, and dangerous in large groups. Any possibility of treatment requires that they be separated from their hive-mind support apparatus; they cannot begin the process of accepting reality in the presence of encouragement towards delusion and irrationality. Separation may require the assistance of law enforcement.
If you have a friend or loved one suffering from TARD, urge them to seek treatment. Together we can beat this scourge, and Make America Great Again!"
