Let's end our day with SNL's brilliant cold open from last night.

That...that was great!

"I got a whole hard drive that's just labeled 'Yikes!'"

Just seeing Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro back together was worth the price of admission.

Donald Trump finally admits he does not care about America. Okay it was Alec Baldwin playing Donald Trump, but it certainly had the ring of truth didn't it?

I am absolutely convinced that this is almost exactly how Trump's mind works.

I don't think that Baldwin was so much playing a part as he was channeling the actual subconscious of Tangerine Hitler.

And I would bet my house that a number of the people who work closely with him have heard him mutter “I don’t care about America. This whole four-year presidency is a cash grab,” more than a few times under his breath.

Bet my house.

P.S. This segment does not really have anything to do with Donald Trump or politics, but it was by far my favorite bit from last night.,

I present to you Black Jeopardy, featuring the Black Panther.

I have seen this three times now, and it never fails to crack me up.

The SNL cold open last night was exactly what we needed.

By far my favorite part was the reappearance of Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton, saying "Lock him up."

Especially since it echoes chants from actual protesters directed at Trump that same day.
And Michael Flynn was not left out of the fun either.

I love the smell of Schadenfreude in the morning.

Alec Baldwin returns to SNL to mock Trump's response to Charlottesville.

Courtesy of Rolling Stone:

Alec Baldwin dusted off his Saturday Night Live Donald Trump impersonation on Thursday's Weekend Update: Summer Edition. He lampooned the president's controversial response to the Charlottesville tragedy, defensive Phoenix rally and bizarre choice to stare directly at the sun during the solar eclipse.

"How about that eclipse, folks, huh?" Trump said onstage during the mock rally, wearing sunglasses. "A lot of people don't know this, but you can damage your eyes while looking at an eclipse.

"After praising the mostly white crowd as "fantastic," Trump attempted to "set the record straight" by clarifying his widely criticized response to the deadly protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"You have a group on one side that's very bad, neo-Nazis, and you had a group on the other side' – and then I didn't say a single word after that," he said.

Must keep our sense of humor.

It is what sustained me through eight years of George W. Bush and by gosh it will sustain me through the predicted year and a half of the Trump presidency.

SNL Cold Open features Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump meeting, and confusing, his supporters.

I swear Alec Baldwin is the best!

However I have to admit that as much as I love humor, it is becoming harder and harder to find anything to laugh at with this president.

Laughing at the ignorance of his supporters however....well that never gets old.

Actually Baldwin pulled double duty last night, not only appearing in the cold open as Donald Trump but also appearing in another skit as Trump being interviewed by Bill O'Reilly ALSO played by Alex Baldwin.

Like  I said, the best!

SNL hit a home run last night.

I think the only thing wrong with this skit is that Steve Bannon is actually scarier than the angel of death.

And fatter.

But as great as that cold open was, it was not the best skit of the night in my opinion.

That was the great Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer and she just killed it!

I can't even begin to imagine how pissed off all of this makes Trump and his merry band of morons, but just thinking of it puts a big old smile on my face.

No Alec Baldwin in SNL's cold open last night but it still killed.

I love the fact that Trump being Putin's puppet is now being broadcast into American living rooms all over the country.

I think that is what people need to be reminded of over and over again.

And SNL beating that drum WILL make a difference.

It helped to illustrate Sarah Palin's ignorance, and it will certainly help to underline Trump's allegiances.

Donald Trump represents the Kremlin, not America.

"I'm not talking about the peepee!" SNL showers Donald Trump in golden comedy during cold open.

"I am going to bring back a thick stream of jobs back to this country. The biggest, strongest, steadiest stream you've ever seen. This country will literally showered with jobs. Because I am a major wiz at jobs. It will be a golden opportunity for me as president to make a big splash."

I laughed so hard I almost peed.

SNL takes on Donald Trump's crazy cabinet picks.

My favorite line:

“Kellyanne, it’s almost like Mr. Trump appoints these people specifically to undermine the very agencies they head.”

So the writers on SNL noticed that too.

I will give old George W. credit for one thing at least.

He waited to take office BEFORE he started working to destroy the country.

SNL Cold Open mocks Donald Trump's inability to stay off Twitter. In response Trump bashes them on Twitter.

As Vox points out, only 45 minutes after this bit aired Trump responded with this:
I turned to my daughter last night after seeing this and said, how do you parody a person who is essentially a walking talking parody of himself?

And this, THIS is who over sixty million people deemed worthy to lead the United States of America.

We are now truly the Idiocracy

SNL cold open brings Alec Baldwin back to play Donald Trump, much to Donald Trump's frustration. Update!

You know this is about how I imagine that things are going behind the scenes, except for Kellyanne's guilt that is.

I think that lunatic is thrilled with what she helped to accomplish.

And you know it was a good segment because it got panned by one specific critic.
If he wants equal time all he has to do is get his new adviser to fire up the old Breitbart propaganda machine and have it start blowing wind up his skirt.

A president who tweets at people who irritate or disagree with him, what a brave new world this is.

Update: It looks like Alec Baldwin responded.

Kate McKinnon singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" may the best SNL cold open ever, and just what this country needed.

I did not know what to expect from SNL last night, but I remembered worrying that I would not be able to laugh at Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump impersonation.

As it turned out I did not have to worry about that, because instead we were gifted with this beautiful song sung by perhaps the most gifted entertainer that SNL has today.

It was haunting, it was beautiful, and it was perhaps just what all of us needed after last Tuesday's terrifying outcome.

SNL takes on the third and final presidential debate, and yes it is awesome.

So many great lines.

Perhaps my favorite bit was when Alec Baldwin, playing Donald Trump,  suggested that Kate McKinnon, playing our next President, had not accomplished anything in the last thirty years, allowing her to launch into a listing of all of her past accomplishments.

There is also a shout out to Sarah Palin, as one of the "heavy hitters" that support Donald Trump, along with the best Baldwin brother, Stephen.

Last night's SNL cold open.

So good last night, I laughed way to hard at Hillary Clinton "preparing" for today's debate.

But as good as Kate McKinnon was in that piece, she was brilliant in the Kellyanne Conway segment.

Apparently Conway has dropped off the face of the planet in the wake of that sexual harassment video featuring Donald Trump and Billy Bush.

She cancelled all of her Sunday morning show appearances and has remained off the radar since Friday. With  the exception of this one tweet this morning.
So it appears that she is still on the team, but no interested in facing the press.

Gee, I wonder why?

Now if you will excuse me I need to find that industrial size bowl for my popcorn before tonight's debate.

For those who may have missed this last night. The SNL cold open featuring the Donald Trump Hillary Clinton debate.

Courtesy of The Daily Beast:

At the top, Michael Che made a rare sketch appearance as moderator Lester Holt, who introduced a coughing Hillary Clinton and “the man to blame for the bottom half of all his kids’ faces,” Donald Trump.

Baldwin got Trump’s podium-clutching and bizarre “China” pronunciations down perfectly. And while the real Trump waited until after the debate to complain about his microphone, he did so during the SNL debate. Beyond just interrupting Clinton with “wrong,” Baldwin’s Trump added “Shut up!,” admitted a make out session with Sean Hannity, and referred to Holt as both “jazzman” and “Coltrane.”

Just like the real Trump, Baldwin described Clinton in a way that sounded oddly familiar. “I have the best judgment, and the best temperament,” he said. “She’s the one with the bad temperament. She’s always screaming. She’s constantly lying. Her hair is weird and her face is completely orange. Except around the eyes where it’s white. Once she stops talking her mouth looks like a tiny little butthole.”

Instead of responding, Clinton yielded her two minutes back to Trump, who went on an unprovoked rant about “the blacks.” Asked by Holt what she thought about Trump’s comments at one moment, Clinton said, “I think I’m going to be president.” After another of his rants, she said she didn’t have a response, “more of a request: can America vote right now?”

I had a great time watching this last night, and absolutely LOVED Kate McKinnon's Willy Wonka inspired entrance. And seriously it seems Alec Baldwin was born to play Donald Trump, just like his former co-star Tina Fey was born to play Sarah Palin.
