Putin spokesman says that Donald Trump could build confidence by telling NATO to back off and let Russia do what it wants.

Courtesy of the AP:

Vladimir Putin's spokesman says one way Donald Trump could help build confidence with Russia after he becomes president would be to persuade NATO to slow down its expansion or withdraw its forces from Russia's borders.

Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with The Associated Press that this "would lead to a kind of detente in Europe."

But unfortunately, he said, Russia now sees "NATO's muscles ... getting bigger and bigger and closer and closer to Russian borders."

At a NATO summit in July, the Western alliance said it is building up positions in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in response to what it sees as escalating tensions with Russia. The United States is sending 1,000 troops to Poland next year.

Yeah gee, I bet we could repair relationships with all kinds of countries if we just let them do whatever they wanted to whomever they wanted.

For instance I bet North Korea would be our bosom buddy if we just let them invade South Korea.

And I bet Iran would totally invite us to their birthday party if we let them go ahead and build nuclear weapons.

Of course the really troubling part of this is that Trump might actually not care about any of those scenarios.

In fact he is already pretty much on board with this whole NATO thing:

Trump has praised Putin as a strong leader and suggested that the U.S. could abandon its NATO commitments, which include mutual defense in case of attack.

The president-elect says NATO was created to confront a threat — the Soviet Union — that no longer exists and has called the alliance "obsolete" and a bad deal for America. He argues that the U.S. gets too little out of decades-old security partnerships like NATO, which is anchored in Europe but traditionally led by the United States.

In another interview that same Putin spokesman said this:

The Kremlin said on Thursday U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's foreign policy approach was "phenomenally close" to that of President Vladimir Putin, giving Russia hope that tattered U.S.-Russia relations could gradually be improved.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, speaking in New York, said he saw incredible similarities between the two men's foreign policy ideas, and this meant there was a solid basis to start a meaningful dialogue between Moscow and Washington.

So the Russians see our new president's foreign policy approach as "phenomenally close" to that of a former Soviet KGB agent who seems hell bent on world domination.

And we wondered why Putin worked so hard to get this guy elected.

This might actually be a good thing When the electors see exactly what kind of president he's going to be and what kind is isn't, they may be thinking twice about their votes. I doubt there will be 40. But hopefully more than any previous electoral college.

That sends the message to Trump.

You are NOT popular. You are NOT liked.

Trump lost the popular vote. He only has about 47% of the votes which is NOT a mandate.

He's basically a loser that won through a technicality.

He may want to continue his rallies to give him a false sense that the people adore him, but he is going to be disappointed. More and more of his Deplorables will be turning against him. They'll hate him for not following through on every promise and the rest of the nation will hate him for what he is doing.

      Welcome to the oval office.

Add the daily political cartoons and late night TV jabs and he will be miserable for four years.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

ACLU STATEMENT ON DONALD TRUMP’S ELECTION

.... “President-elect Trump, as you assume the nation’s highest office, we urge you to reconsider and change course on certain campaign promises you have made. These include your plan to amass a deportation force to remove 11 million undocumented immigrants; ban the entry of Muslims into our country and aggressively surveil them; punish women for accessing abortion; reauthorize waterboarding and other forms of torture; and change our nation’s libel laws and restrict freedom of expression.

“These proposals are not simply un-American and wrong-headed, they are unlawful and unconstitutional....

It's bizarre how Trump has this need to have a special relationship with Russia and Putin. Trump's eastern European obsession is bizarre.

He's tweeted 7 times today. His first 2 are about the NYT and his last one on it too. 4 tweets are about who has called to congratulate him. He has this need to let everyone know, as if it legitimizes him. And, like, as if this isn't just tradition--everyone does it. He is still obsessing about the MSM and attacking the NYT, and he doesn't get what their apology to the people really means.

Oh, and Giulini is all over the TV saying that of course the Trump kids can be in charge of things and it will be a blind trust as far as he's concerned. He is standing up completely for Trump and his family not really having to change how things operate. But, oh, when it came to the Clinton foundation Chelsea couldn't take over. The foundation had to be taken completely out of all Clinton hands.

      ---------------------
Giuliani says Trump kids could run 'blind trust'

By RICHARD LARDNER - The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) A top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump says it would be "unrealistic" to purge his children from his businesses and hand their control over to an independent trustee.

Appearing on televised interviews on Sunday, Giuliani initially said Trump should set up "some kind of blind trust." When pressed, Giuliani told CNN's "State of the Union" that Trump's unusual situation might call for more flexibility than a traditional blind trust and involve his three children.

Giuliani said Trump's three adult children Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric who are involved in his businesses would not advise Trump once he becomes president in January. All three children are, however, are on the executive committee of Trump's transition team....

,,,,,, Trump has a direct stake in more than 500 companies, according to his disclosures with the Federal Election Commission. The full extent of his holdings and income are still unclear because the president-elect refused to release his tax forms, saying that they are being audited by the IRS.

Besides Trump's hotels and golf courses in the British Isles, the president-elect has a licensing deal with a firm based in Indonesia. The names of his companies indicate that he has businesses tied to Brazil, Canada, Israel, Dubai, Egypt, India, the Philippines and South Africa. His menswear line famously had neckties sewn by contractors in China.

Everybody says Putin is Trump's puppet master. Looks like Putin also has his hands up Sarah Palin's ass. Could Putin have told Trump to find a place for Comrade Palin?

Sarah Palin on Putin: 'Nobody Has to Guess Whose Side He Is On'

.... Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Tuesday, praising Russian President Vladimir Putin for "doing his job" to protect his country.

...."You know, you have to hand it to the man," the one-time vice presidential nominee told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program. "Nobody has to guess whose side he is on. He's putting his people first and doing the right thing, and I think that maybe some other leaders could kind of learn from some of that."...

      Interesting Margot.

Here's an excerpt from what I found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalist_No._68

The final say, however, lies with the electors, who Hamilton notes are,

"Men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice."

Therefore, the direct election of the president is left up to those who have been selected by the voters to become the electors. This indirect election is justified by Hamilton because while a republic is still served, the system allows for only a certain type of person to be elected president, preventing individuals who are unfit for a variety of reasons to be in the position of chief executive of the country.

This is reflected in his later fears about the types of people who could potentially become president. He worries that corrupted individuals could, particularly those who are either more directly associated with a foreign state, or individuals who do not have the capacity to run the country. The former is covered by Article II, Section 1, v of the United States Constitution, while the latter is covered by Hamilton in Federalist 68, where he notes that the person who will become president will have to be a person who possesses the faculties necessary to be a president, stating that,

"Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United States"

In History November 13, 1953. Indiana text book commission calls for references to the book of Robinhood from text books used by state schools because he robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. That's the communist twist and another smear of our law during the Red Scare years. Another attack was on the Quaker people because they do not believe in fighting wars.
Another book that was questioned was Grapes of Wrath. All twisted by communist in meaning and by communist within the united states of America attempting to create division, twist facts, twist meaning, twist trust, twist elections twist American History and corrupt our leaders and county to communism. WTF people? read. That was in the 50's it is the year 2016 and we already fought these wars, and are better than a communist dictator rigging our elections.

Personally I don't think religious exemptions should ever have been allowed to get out of the draft. There are many proud veteran's that served honorably while they were conscientious objectors. There were plenty of jobs in the military for them while they objected. While we have rights to freedom of religion in this country it should not allow you to bypass the requirements set forth for other citizens.

That's like "sending prayers". It's a useless, do nothing action that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy but does absolutely nothing.

Print out a hard copy letter and mail it to each elector. Get thousands of people to do that. Then *maybe* it might have an effect on a few. But not enough to remove 40 electors.
