Trump supporters deface Maryland church with racist message.

Courtesy of WJLA:

A church in Silver Spring Maryland was vandalized with racists statements in support of Donald Trump Saturday night.

According to church officials, the phrase "Trump Nation whites only" was written at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior at 1700 Powder Mill Road on a sign advertising the church's Hispanic service and on a wall in the church's memorial garden which serves as the church cemetery.

"I guess none of us realized where we were living," says Margaret Gordon, a member of the church's vestry.

According to Robert Harvey The Rector of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, about 80 percent of the church's members are immigrants and there are people from more than 50 countries of origin as part of his congregation.

"They're afraid," says Harvey who also says that this was not the first such incident of racism in the community during the week.

This is just one example I literally had dozens of others I could have chosen to illustrate what is happening all across our country right now.

Somebody on Twitter actually had the gall to point out that there was a similar outbreak of racism after Barack Obama was elected, right up until somebody pointed out to them that those instances of racism were directed AT the President, not inspired BY the president.

Raw Story has too many stories along the same lines as this one, a Muslim teacher finding a note telling her to hang herself by her hajab, a sign supporting lynching, etc. He just appointed a white nationalist as his chief strategist, with his first priority to take over the Sudentanland.

STeve Bannon, who Trump just appointed "special adviser" is not just a white nationalist.

He is a blatantly anti-semitic, racist, misogynistic asshole.

Bannon is an outright bastard in the mold of David Duke.

Bannon told his wife that he didn't want his kids going to a private school "because there are too many Jews there.

Steve Bannon is degenerate sybarite who deserves nothing but scorn and shame, and the fact that Trump doesn't care, is astonishingly terrible.

"WASHINGTON ― Donald Trump is reportedly considering appointing Clare Lopez, an anti-Muslim conspiracy theorist, to serve as his deputy national security adviser.

Lopez is the vice president of the Center for Security Policy, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that focuses on the threat of Islamic jihad. She was on a short list of names that the Daily Caller reported as coming directly from the Trump transition team.

According to Lopez’s biography, she spent 20 years working for the Central Intelligence Agency before she became a popular writer for conservative websites like Breitbart News and World Net Daily. She served as an adviser to the presidential campaign of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), and while she didn’t hold an official post within Trump’s campaign, the president-elect regularly cited her work to support his anti-Muslim positions."

"Lopez gained notoriety among right-of-center conspiracy blogs after authoring a report suggesting Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s longtime aide, is part of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Lopez called Abedin a “Muslim Brotherhood operative” and has intimated that Abedin, along with Obama, has assisted the Islamic organization."

      Oh, look. Breitbart News.

Will there be anyone left at Breitbart after Trump finishes his appointments?

Gryphen, I am afraid that this is only the beginning. When the media gave the fuckin' idiot palin a free pass, she spewed her poisonous vitriol all over gullible voters. Now, history repeats itself; this time, the racists have the green light to do so, under the umbrella of a demagogue.

  8. I live in New Orleans, probably one of the most racially diverse cities in the south and we voted bright blue this election.

However, we have a race war going on in the city following Trump's election. We've had protesters defacing Lee Circle & marchers shutting down busy streets for days. Tensions are high here. I've seen guys with Trump bumper stickers throwing drinks out their car windows at blacks just waiting for a bus, and I've heard the "N" word used a LOT more freely than it was before.

Trump's election has stirred up the simmering racism that has always bubbled beneath the surface. They just kept it hidden because to voice their bile would identify them. Now? They don't don't care who knows what they really think. Because they now have a President who believes what they do and makes no secret of it. When they say he "says what they're thinking"...they really mean it.

As Alexander Hamilton writes in “The Federalist Papers,” the Constitution is designed to ensure “that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” The point of the Electoral College is to preserve “the sense of the people,” while at the same time ensuring that a president is chosen “by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice.”

The electoral college can't be "hijacked". When we vote we aren't voting for a candidate, we're voting for the electors chosen by the state party. They change every election. So when Trump won a state, e.g. Ohio, all 18 of the electors from Ohio are Republicans. It would have been 18 different people, 18 Democrats, if Clinton won Ohio. Do you see why it can't be "hijacked". In addition, it's a state by state process, not an institution or organization. The electors for each state meet in their own state on Dec 19th and cast their votes for president and vice president.

    3. Electors aren't Constitutional scholars and they haven't studied the writings of our founding Fathers or the details of the creation of our country.

They just rubber stamp what their party tells them to.

You will not find any rebels, anyone with integrity or ethics. As far as they're concerned a Republican won and that's all that matters.

I do not buy--at all--the reasoning that says many people voted for him based on what he said about the economy. All the other stuff was there and people's values were tested.

They were absolutely fine with the incredible amount of hatred toward groups different from their own. They were basically saying that if they stood before a man assaulting a woman and an almighty dollar bill and had to choose whether to help the woman or take the money, they would not hesitate and would ignore the assault and take the money. Same goes for every possible scenario that could be set up against choosing it or that dollar bill.

As much as I like Michael Moore, when he says in that sincere voice of his that he doesn't think all Trump supporters are racist and sexist, I just roll my eyes. Who people really are came through loud and clear. I am not going to find a way to excuse his voters. I come from a blue collar family in Ohio and my family's history is one of being very down and out, starting with when my grandfather died when my dad, born during the Depression, was just an infant. No matter what, the family found ways to survive and not lose their moral courage.

    Trump goes Palin!

"During their private White House meeting on Thursday, Mr. Obama walked his successor through the duties of running the country, and Mr. Trump seemed surprised by the scope, said people familiar with the meeting. Trump aides were described by those people as unaware that the entire presidential staff working in the West Wing had to be replaced at the end of Mr. Obama’s term."

    DOH!

    Shades of Sarah Palin-

“As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

Except these Trump people will actually have access to the football of doom.

Trumpf will ride on anyone's back> TRUTH IS COMING!
with an infrastructure program and a relatively short lived fiscal boom in 2017-2018, it’s hard to see Trump doing anything that fundamentally changes the downward slide of the bottom 70 percent. Because of automation as much as trade, it’s hard to see large numbers of high-wage manufacturing jobs coming back. Trump can’t wave a wand or sandbag the EPA and revive coal, because natural gas and solar is already cheaper than coal as a source of electric power."The election wasn’t rigged in Trump’s sense that voting fraud was pervasive or someone messed with the count. It was rigged only to the extent that Republican operatives used Voter ID to made it harder for minority people and poor people to vote, that a bizarre alliance between Vladimir Putin’s hacking and James Comey’s meddling very likely stole an election that Clinton still won by nearly two million popular votes."

OT, but this has me seething. Trump said last night he's fine with same sex marriage. He said it's done. It's law. It's been here for less than a year and a half. But abortion rights have been here for over forty and he thinks Roe will be overturned. He's fine with that. He doesn't think same sex, this very controversial matter, is a problem and that it should be up to the states and doesn't see it as going back to the courts. But with abortion he thinks just the opposite.
