I knew there were a lot of stupid people in this country, but I never realized just now many.
Hell even Captain America can't believe this is happening.
I am a little too old to believe in super heroes, but dammit we could certainly use an Avenger to two right now. This is an embarrassing night for America. We've let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We've let a bully set our course. I'm devastated.— Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) November 9, 2016
Because if Donald Trump does not qualify as a super villain I don't know who does.
I really, really hate my country right now. Sarah Palin may actually have a shot at a cabinet post. Worse than that, Ted Cruz could wind up on the Supreme Court.
ReplyDeleteWhen we watched American voters elect GWB for a second term we thought that was crazy but now that voters have given Trump the go ahead to sit in the Oval Office and carry out his monstrous policies we are dumbstruck. I echo Gryphen's headline...WTF America?
DeleteI'd like to hope that between now and 2017 enough legal issues continue their current course for this president elect and another 'historical' event happens and his nomination is void (god, not Pence as 2nd choice though). Does that make sense? Tequila writing thru my tears.
ReplyDeleteTry two-
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hope that the president elects' legal issues create another 'historical event' and he doesn't make it to 2017. And neither does Pence as second. [make sense? Tequila typing thru tears]
I am a Canadian. I've always known that Canadian values and American ones were different. Tonight I found out how much. Sorry you're going to go backwards on healthcare, women's rights, immigration, human rights living wage, etc. but that's what the majority of you wanted, right?
ReplyDeleteNot really.
DeleteClinton won the popular vote. She got MORE votes.
But because of the electoral college system, she doesn't win.
You're right, I fear. I am an American who is now especially grateful that I chose to live in Canada and that I was welcomed into this great country.
DeleteI am still afraid that the Trump presidency will affect Canada. Maybe there should be a wall built along the border between the US and Canada.
11/9 may go down as being as bad as 9/11
ReplyDeleteWitty, 2:32. Sad, clever and probably TRUE.
DeleteThis is the worst fucking birthday ever.
DeletePersonally, I think the Russians were successful in their hacking. NC and FL I can understand - they were wavering back and forth anyway. But Wisconsin and Michigan? No way it swung that far right in that short amount of time.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 2:45 AM
DeleteI think it was hacked. No way he won all those states. Now way.
Don't forget Pennsylvania. That was solid blue throughout too.
DeleteI also think that there may have been, shall we say "interference" in these states, particularly Michigan and Pennsylvania.
DeleteBeaglemom
Yes, this is all very sketchy.
DeleteI think more than hacking, systematic voter suppression & registration nullification throughout swing states are the more likely cause. Also all of the dark money that poured in. Look for government land & resources to be given to the very rich and powerful, visit our national parks while you still can.
DeleteYWC2
@6:08
DeleteI think you're right.
I live right next to some gorgeous national forest, and our water is spring water that comes from under that land to ours. Should the Feds sell off timber or mineral rights to that land, land which belongs to all of us taxpayers by the way, I WILL sharpen my pitchforks and shovels(I don't own a gun) and protect that land. I'm That kind of crazy about the woods I live in, and the natural spring water that feeds our family and veg garden.
Iam thelast person to believe in conspirocy theories. But there is no way someone who was so ahead in all the Polls lost all those reliably Blue states.
DeleteNow Trump has to make good on all his promises. If the middle class doesn't see economic improvement, only the republicans can be blamed. They control the presidency, senate and congress.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, they also control the Supreme Court.
DeleteThey'll replace Scalia with someone even farther to the right.
Ruth Bader-Ginsberg isn't going to live another four years. That will give them 6 to 3. For DECADES.
This cannot be happening.
ReplyDeleteWill my children lose their health insurance?
Will people I know be deported?
Was our election hacked?
My heart is broken.
Exactly what iam feeling.

ReplyDeleteIt isn't far-fetched anymore and it isn't funny.
I am truly ashamed of my country and embarrassed to be an American.

I can't believe he won all those states. Something stinks here. Yep, Trump was projecting when he kept saying the election was rigged, he meant it was rigged in his favor. Yep, he knew the fix was in.
ReplyDeleteThis didn't happen naturally.
ReplyDeleteSomething was afoot. I'm told it was vote-trading but I don't know what that is.

Dullard Drumpf is going to rape our country just like he raped those little girls.
ReplyDeleteOregon was a preview.
Our protected lands, National Forests, open spaces, wildlife reserves will all be sold to the highest bidder. Our old growth forests will all be clear cut and sold to China for profit.
There will be drilling up and down our coasts and in our national parks like the Grand Canyon. Remember those leases that Obama stopped? Well, Trump is going to sell them to the highest bidder on day two.
His sons will have prime cabinet positions. No living creature in this country will be safe. Our air, water and food will no longer be safe. He's going to remove regulations from everything he can.
Better start making our pet's food from scratch because you won't be able to trust any pet food you buy. Remember how Chinese dog food killed our pets?
The cost of everything is going to go up as he privatizes our infrastructure.
We'll pay more in taxes to compensate for those tax cuts for his buddies.
He'll remove all of the progress unions made with work weeks, work days, leave, overtime, etc.
Rowe v Wade gone.
Obamacare gone.
Social Security? Gone or privatized.
Medicare? Just gone.
The Supremes will be 5-4 until the next opening. Then 6-3. Then 7-2. The Supreme Court will be Right Wing Republican for decades.
Just because a lot of uneducated, self centered, red neck bigots wanted to send a big FUCK YOU message to the government. And angry, petty, I hate my life and I'm going to make sure you and everyone else is as miserable as I am. Fuck you! You're getting Dullard Drumpf.
Republicans and Democrats are both at fault here. Dullard Drumpf is the price we're paying for them paying more attention to lobbyists, corporations and Wall St. than to the constituents they are supposed to represent. They are supposed to be PUBLIC SERVANTS. So we are all being punished because our politicians lost sight of their primary duty.
Now we are all screwed.
I'm looking into Costa Rica. Germany and Italy are too expensive and I don't know anyone in Canada.
Tomorrow I'll start purging. Sorting piles for tossing, donating and selling. Then again and maybe a third time.
Once I get things down to the bare bones I'll have to evaluate what goes into storage, if anything, and what I'll need to take once I have a destination. I have some pieces of furniture and my vintage stove I don't want to give up.
If my house doesn't lose too much value under a Drumpf administration it's sale will cover the mortgage, debts and still have some left over for the move.
I have a pension so no worries on income. Actually makes it easier to move.
I hate to leave my country but I'm afraid in a few years it won't resemble my country any more.
I just hope Drumpf and his sons will leave the National Parks alone. I would hate for them to destroy Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sequoia, Grand Teton, ...

I hardly slept last night. I'm an over the hill woman. I won't have to worry about being groped, having access to reproductive health services, or trying to break a glass ceiling. But my daughter will. And I am very concerned for her. I will have to worry about my retirement though because the markets are tanking and I doubt Trump and the Republicans will do anything to help social security or medicare.
ReplyDeleteI know these people who voted for Trump because they are some members of my extended family. The ones we don't socialize with. The ones who stayed in rural Arkansas and eat fast food daily. The ones who rail against the government but demand their medical disability benefits and other social services which keep the afloat. I'm not ashamed to say they disgust me. But they, unfortunately, are us. Our children are the future. Let's work hard to make sure their generation is better.
This is the second time in modern history that Democrats have lost the White House but won the popular vote. It's time to abolish the electoral college.

He didn't just affect the presidential election, he affected the Senate as well. Ron Johnson in Wisconsin was considered DOA by his own party not too long ago, wins. Richard urr, Pat Toomey, Kelly Ayotte, Roy Blount. If the demo had taken three of those five they had the Senate. Now all we can hope for is to take the Senate and or the house in 2018. But who knows how much damage will have been done by then.

Insurance rate hikes are an integral feature of the ACA system, not a bug.
DeleteThe ACA was a right-wing plan that was passed by Obama, not the progressive's single-payer system(like every other industrialized nation has). Spend less on war and munitions, invest that money into the people's health.
The notion regarding ACA was to get the legislation, then repair it as time went on--thus breaking a century-old status quo by the only means possible. Instead, the insurers took their cake and now will eat it too. Rather akin to how the bankers acquired control of the housing stock while hosing our reasonable and contained president.
DeleteTheNastyLiberal is right. The version of the ACA that was finally passed was a mishmash; President Obama and the Democrats intended that it would serve as a base to be improved upon. Don't blame President Obama. Remember that he has dealt with a seditious GOP since January 20, 2009.

To finish my thought - contacting our "elected" leaders in Washington and demanding that they protect us all from what might begin in January 2017 is a good idea.
DeleteBeaglemom
Do you really think they care about us? They have their "gravy train", why do they care what happens to everyone else?
DeleteBeaglemom, protect you from what exactly? All the happened was that we elected a new president, fair and square. That is democracy at work. Hillary conceded. She knows.
DeleteAnon at 8:51 am. The GOP has tried for years now to eliminate the ACA completely; the GOP has, since it began in the 1930's, tried to eliminate Social Security. The 21st century GOP wants to eliminate the EPA and the FDA, the National Park System, gut FEMA and other federal agencies that work daily to protect Americans and the rest of the world in times of natural disasters. The GOP wants to insert religion into our public education system, take away women's reproductive rights, and on and on. Now they will be unfettered in their attempts. I think I am right to be very concerned and I think that Hillary Clinton has the same concerns. She certainly voiced them throughout the campaign but not enough people listened. I think you should be concerned too. Remember that the GOP now controls all three branches of the federal government and the next president has a "friend" in Vladimir Putin.

6:45, Had Sanders run 3rd party, he would have received about half of the votes that went to Clinton, plus many that went to the other 3rd party candidates and even a percentage of Trump's votes. Hillary would have lost soundly. Would Bernie have beaten Trump as a 3rd party candidate? Possibly. His run as a Democrat was a huge blessing for Hillary, as it meant he couldn't continue to draw votes in the general election. Hillary was a weak candidate. I have said it for almost a year.
DeleteYou're absolutely right, 6:45AM! He made our candidate look like shit and she never could recover from that.
DeleteOh, 7:30? Did Bernie lie about Hillary to make her look bad?
DeleteOr, was Hillz easy pickins' cuz there is a lot of baggage between her and Billz?
^What 4am said. Spot on.^
DeleteThey still won't admit it.
Trump and the Republican Party played us brilliantly. All that grade school crap about the election being rigged? He didn't care how petulant and sore loserish he sounded, because he KNEW that the election would be rigged. Against Hillary.
ReplyDeleteAnd now if WE point out that the nationwide facts don't match the results, WE sound ridiculous. We're the sore losers crying out RIGGED.
If we point to always reliable national and state polls that suddenly just don't match the results, we are merely deperate.
If we detail pro Hillary exit polls at voting stations everywhere that mysteriously turned out in Drumpf's favor, we are crazy.
Worst of all, that gray hat hacker group Anonymous who I once so admired, went all anti-Hillary with a vengeance.
Their official twitter site abounded with their plans, plots and successful attacks against her. They vowed repeatedly to take her down; keep her from the presidency.
My heart sunk when I realized that Anonymous had started gunning for her. They never fail. They posted about her continually like she was evil incarnate, yet they mentioned virtually nothing about Trump's criminal actions.
But yesterday, vote day, Anonymous' attitude was suddenly blase as far as Hillary. Blah, blah, all their cackling and triumph was gone. They even posted a link here and there to a bad Trump story as if they were, I don't know...showing equal coverage? Or laying low? Hiding their part in this?
Unless you had been following along as Anonymous methodically went for Hillary's throat, you'd almost fall for it.
Finally, If we point fingers at egregiously easy hacks on electronic voting machines with no paper trail, we are just conspiracy theorists.
I call bullshit. This nation did NOT legitimately vote that inane, uneducated, ignorant orange Mussolini into power. Two thirds of us are better than that.
I say that with this election, the supreme court and 90 years of woman and minority progress were stolen from us by the farseeing heads on the rightwing. They understood exactly what was at stake in the longterm. They pubicly disavowed Trump, all the while knowing they'd put up with him and his worst of the worst for 4 years in order to rule the supreme court and, repeal obamacare, roe vs. wade, gay marriage...my heart is shattered at our collective stupidity. OF COURSE THEY WERE GOING TO STEAL THIS ELECTION.
This is a national disgrace. The worse choice for president in U.S. history.
ReplyDeleteThe electoral college should be abolished. This is how W Bush got the presidency.
ReplyDeleteYES. It is an abomination to the democracy we supposedly still live in.
DeleteIf he won fair and square? then ok. But did he? and what about the lawsuits surrounding him? what are the rules for that issue? how do the courts deal with that? Going into the office with half the country and world against your presidency is tough, ask President Obama. And that other half? Is the supposed smart people. America the Beautiful looks a bit different today.
ReplyDeleteHillary was leading nationally by 4-7 points the whole election cycle, then all of a sudden she loses? I smell an election tampering.
ReplyDeleteShe was leading by 6 by points when Comey came out with the emails again, then she went down to a 4 point lead, but she was still in the lead up until election day. WHAT HAPPENED? There had to be foul play involved.
I have learned that when things do not make sense or add up there is a liar in the midst. With all of Trump's erosion of trust claiming the "election is rigged" yet he wins almost twice the electoral votes anyone predicted is mysterious and suspect.
DeleteTrump eroded trust of the media, our government institutions, Clinton, primary opponents by lying at a level never before seen or heard. Yesterday I felt sick hearing from someone she did not know the depth and breath of Trump's lies.
Congratulations to Trump and his team of conspiracy theorists for using people's anger and manipulating it to rage and violence.
Trump has always accused his critics of what he has been doing himself. It's very plausible that the results were rigged - by the RNC with the help of some of Trump's "foreign" friends.

To Donald Trump, from the undocumented immigrant who graduated alongside your daughter
ReplyDeleteDear Donald,
I’m sure you don’t remember me. You sat in the third row of my high school graduation wearing a loud salmon pink tie. Your daughter Tiffany and I had spent six years together at Viewpoint School, a small bastion of privilege nestled alongside Mulholland Highway. As you watched the ceremony, you probably didn’t think it was even possible that an undocumented student would be receiving the same prestigious diploma as your daughter.
You may have even clapped for me as I walked across the stage. Or maybe you didn’t. My “illegal immigrant” parents sat two rows behind you. They clapped for your daughter. They clapped for everyone.
The first time I heard your name was in seventh-grade history class, when Tiffany was getting teased. She and I were both new kids at school that year, both burdened with similar pubescent worries. While she took flak because her dad was the boisterous “you’re fired” guy from TV, I was anxious because I was a scholarship student, brown and poor, with ugly clothes. (I never thanked Tiffany for selflessly taking the brunt of the attention.)
In eighth grade, Tiffany and I were in the same play: “The Chronicles of Narnia.” She was the White Witch and I was one of Aslan's warriors. We battled to the death on stage, but back stage, we sneaked Turkish Delight from the prop table with the rest of the cast. My parents came to all three performances. I didn’t see you there.
Years later, that blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment you bore witness to when I claimed my diploma was the fruit of decades of my parents’ sacrifices. My academic record got me a full ride to Viewpoint, but it was my parents who, equipped with zero connections and shaky English, found an elite school for me in the first place.
Do you know what it is like to swallow your pride for someone you love? My parents abandoned promising careers in computer science to bring me to this country and give me a better life. My father showed up to a job interview with Jack in the Box in his best pressed suit. My mother endured racist taunts from police and her bosses in telemarketing. Neither was able to travel home when their parents died. Neither will ever be able to retire.
We have felt the looming threat of deportation for more than a decade; it appears in the smirks of police officers handing out a traffic ticket, in the suspicious gaze of an employer firing my dad for not having a valid Social Security number. My family knows fear as intimately as you know your favorite song. We eat dread with orange juice and eggs every morning. My parents’ every living moment is a gamble for my better future. Every new day comes with the threat of losing everything.
Do you understand what is it like to live that way? You have used families like mine as a political football, a conveniently helpless and distant population to blame for this nation’s problems. But, as you may be realizing now, we are not so distant.
SEE PART TWO
To Donald Trump, from the undocumented immigrant who graduated alongside your daughter
ReplyDeletePART TWO
Perhaps I am guilty of the same kind of abstraction. I always thought destructive politicians existed far away, in Washington. I certainly didn’t think Tiffany’s dad, the guy who sat two rows in front of my parents, the guy who paid for those obnoxious stone sculptures decorating the middle school parking area, would try to ruin my life.
You were just another rich celebrity who sent his kid to my school. You weren’t a factor in my life. You weren’t the lady at Costco who rammed her shopping cart into my mother with a racist slur. But you stood on my parents’ backs to launch yourself into political stardom. My parents, who clapped for your daughter.
I don’t have papers, I don’t have money, but I received the same $220,000 education as your daughter. I know that Lewis and Clark ventured into foreign territory without permission and were called pioneers. My family and I are called illegals. Maybe my education will help me change that designation to pioneer.
My education was enriched with money you donated to the school. I’m fighting for a future with weapons you never realized you armed me with. Despite your determination to crush people like me, I graduated from Viewpoint and then from college, with honors, on another full-ride scholarship. I have never paid a dime out of my pocket for my education, I’m your nativist nightmare. Know now that you helped me.
Tiffany was kind, but she can’t redeem you. It’s personal between you and me, Donald. At graduation, you sat two rows in front of my family. I will use what I was given that day to protect myself and my family. And if you’re elected, I’m going to use it to give you hell.

Beautiful letter. And best of luck to you, Diana. No one living in the US should ever have to live in that kind of fear and apprehension. It shames me that it happens here in the 21st century.

Thank you for your comments. It cannot have been easy for you or your parents but thank you for "hanging in there" and becoming an educated and dedicated member for social justice. I despise tRump with all my being. It is good to know his daughter was/is not as hateful as he is.
DeleteI should probably smack my own face.
ReplyDeleteI expected wonderful things out of President Hillary Rodham Clinton. Like universal health care, same as every other civilized nation that doesn't believe its citizens' health and well being are only allowed if they're profitable.
And I was truly looking forward to that sweet moment when Madam President named her first Supreme Court Justice; Barrack Obama who is an expert in constitutional law...
Pipe dreams.Repubs were NEVER going to let that happen. All that crap about prominent republicans vowing to vote for Hillary over Trump? It was exactly that...crap.
How the fuck did I fall for that shit?
We never would have gotten single-payer health out of a Clinton Presidency.
DeleteSee her list of donors as proof, don't just take it at a say-so.
If you expected to get Universal Healthcare from a Pres. Hillary Clinton, you were definitely living a pipe dream.
DeleteAnonymous5:07 AM, Anonymous4:53 AM,
DeleteIf you expect to get universal healthcare under Trump, or even keep Obamacare, you're delusional.
5:25am
Delete4:53 here.
I never had real access to the ACA (your 'Obamacare'). I vote blue and always have, live in a red state and always have, and still fall thru the cracks. No medicare, no ACA access for us. I pay for my health care out of my own pocket.
I certainly don't expect much good to come from that orange man I didn't vote for. But I can do my own online research, and I understand that Mrs Clinton's campaign was heavily funded by corporate America, specifically the medical insurance industry, who helped compose the ACA.
Let's face, we'll all be lucky if there is any remotely affordable health care once the GOP gets done with the ACA, Medicare and Medicaid. And don't forget, they want to destroy Social Security.
DeleteBeaglemom
Beaglemom, I'm going to fight them every step of the way, and I hope you do too.
DeleteWhat's worse than the obstructionist movement that sought to oppose the first Black POTUS at every turn?
WE ARE. Let's get to work opposing the first orange one.
Big fucking deal what Trump said in his speech last night. He only read a speech written by a staffer.
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't Hillary give a hopeful concession speech aimed at uniting us(the ones of us who can actually think?)?
DeleteI needed to hear from her, and I think all of us who supported her should have at least been thanked for our support.
Mrs Clinton's speech, while delayed WAS GREAT.
DeleteIt's not about the person, it's about the movement.
Now, let's get to work.
I still say that the R's in the House and Senate will find a way tooust him and install Mike Pence in his stead, which is even scarier.
ReplyDeleteMarkets plunge worldwide as Trump surges to the White House
ReplyDeleteGlobal financial markets convulsed Tuesday night as Donald Trump was projected to claim victory in the race for the White House after a polarizing campaign that investors had largely bet against.
On Wall Street, all three major stock indices were down 4 percent or more late Tuesday evening in pre-market trading, with futures for the Dow Jones industrial average sliding more than 700 points at one point before paring those losses in the minutes before the results were clear. Futures trading was temporarily halted for the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index amid a 5 percent loss.
The Mexican peso -- which has fallen as the Republican nominee rose in the polls during his campaign -- nosedived to an eight-year low, according to Bloomberg. The panic stretched all the way to Asia, where Japan’s Nikkei index plunged more than 900 points, or 5.4 percent, early Wednesday morning. In a flight to safety, gold charged higher. U.S. Treasuries and the yen also surged....

Third, FUCK YOU, Trump. You are a piece of shit.
"Fuck you America"???
DeleteDon't you live here too?
Well put.
DeleteI think he will be a puppet president. Although I don't know who will actually be in charge. I hope not Pence. My greatest fear is that all of the social issues that have been so hard fought for will be out the window. This man does not have a clue about what to do next. Astounding!!! I am going to try to be optimistic but I have never HATED a president before, and I don't use that word lightly. I know only one other person around me who voted for Clinton even if our state did go to Hillary. Our very one large city determines how our state goes. Good luck America!
ReplyDeleteThis was a thoughtful post, 4:29AM.
DeleteI want to encourage your optimism. Pass it on, this EWW tRUMP feeling CAN unite us, like never before.
I never hated a prezzy before W. So now I get another opportunity.
He was always a puppet. You'll see his evil string-pullers coming out of the shadows very soon, they are not the retiring types.
DeleteWell, let's see. Some of the puppet strings are controlled by the Koch brothers, some by the Koch invention the Tea Party, some by Trump's best buddy, Vladimir Putin, some by white supremacists here in the US. Since he said during his campaign that Pence would be in charge of domestic matters, some of the puppet strings will be held by the far right fundamentalists, who are about as sane as the Taliban.

WASHINGTON — President Obama called president-elect Donald Trump Wednesday morning to congratulate him on his election victory and invite him to the White House on Thursday to discuss "the smooth transition of power," the White House said....

Transition of power my ass.
DeleteShow me where the Nuclear Button is.
People voted for change and because his tax plan will benefit many.
ReplyDeleteMany what?
DeleteWell, I'd absolutely agree this was a vote for change and a big FU to Washington. But Trump's tax plan doesn't benefit anybody for whom lower taxes would really make their life better because the tradeoff is to pay for it almost every social service would have to be eliminated to pay for it - including SSI and Medicaid.
DeleteYeah, sure. Let me refer you to the Late Great State of Kansas.
DeleteThe only "many" who will benefit from unfettered GOP tax policies are the very rich. The rest of us will have to pay for their gain.

So Trump IS Mr Brexit: Sarah Palin says Britain led the way with shock EU vote as she celebrates 'the people taking back control'
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin says Donald Trump's sensational win was inspired by Brexit and said: 'Britain - we're going rogue and the people are taking back control'.
The billionaire tycoon Donald Trump is set to be the next president of the United States after voters gambled on his promise to 'Make America Great Again'.
It was a similar message to the one used by Brexiteers who successfully convinced voters that Britain's future was brighter outside the European Union.
Ms Palin, a former beauty queen turned Republican politician, said this spirit had spread across the Atlantic and bolstered Trump's campaign.
James Corden, now also a big star in the United States, tweeted he had 'Brexit feelings' as it became clear Trump would win.
peaking at the Trump Rally in New York she said: 'See Great Britain! America! See how we're hookin' up now?
'We're going rogue and the people are going to take back control...

Haw haw. The only stupid people are the likes of the DNC, namely Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who should be jailed for what she did to Bernie Sanders.
ReplyDeleteBernie Sanders would not have lost Wisconsin, I promise you that, my friend.
I am proud to have written in Bernie Sanders, the man who should have rightfully been the Democratic nominee.
Sow what you reap.
You are certainly allowed your opinion. And you are certainly allowed to vote your conscience. Why the attitude problem, man?

DeleteHold Orange's feet to the fire. Don't give up!
Bernie has a hell of allot more integrity than you, I'm sure he was so offended by your sickening Letter. NOT because he didn't even read it(IDIOT).Bernie has moved on, More than can be said for you
DeleteTrump and the Republican Party played us brilliantly. All that grade school crap about the election being rigged? He didn't care how petulant and sore loserish he sounded, because he KNEW that the election would be rigged. Against Hillary.
ReplyDeleteAnd now when WE point out that the nationwide facts don't match the vote results, they'll say WE sound ridiculous. They'll say we're the sore losers crying out RIGGED.
When we point to always reliable national and state polls that suddenly just don't match the results, they'll try to say we are merely desperate.
When we detail pro Hillary exit polls at voting stations everywhere that mysteriously turned out in Drumpf's favor, they'll try to say we are crazy.
Finally, when we point fingers at several egregiously easy hacks on electronic voting machines with no paper trail, they'll try to convince everyone that we are just conspiracy theorists.
I call bullshit. This election actually was rigged. This nation did NOT legitimately vote that inane, uneducated, ignorant orange Mussolini into power. Two thirds of us are better than that.
I'm convinced that with this election, the supreme court and 90 years of woman and minority progress were stolen from us by the farseeing heads on the rightwing. They understood exactly what was at stake in the long term. They publicly disavowed Trump, all the while knowing they'd fecided to put up with him and his worst of the worst followers for 4 years in order to rule the supreme court, repeal obamacare, roe vs. wade, gay marriage, destroy immigration, return us to only christianity...my heart is shattered at our collective stupidity. OF COURSE THEY WERE GOING TO STEAL THIS ELECTION.
I was prepared for Trump and his ilk to say the election was rigged when they lost. I think most people did, so if he had, we would have put up with it.
DeleteOne thing the Republicans do quite well is obstruct. They rage, piss and moan, and focus on stopping what they don't like.
If it were ever a time for the Democratic Party to give us good as they've gotten, it needs to start now. They've played dirty the entire time, and covered their asses by pointing at Hillary.
Grow some balls, Dems. Learn from our new friends who will be arriving January 20th. Get a game plan and start the opposition NOW.
Scream for that orage asshole's tax returns like they screamed for Obama's birth certificate. Let's talk about the multiple bankruptcies, shady practices, multiple marriages, etc etc. Let's just flat-out call Trump a sexual predator... because he acts like one. And he's been talking like one for how long? And Howard Stern was kind enough to record plenty of it. Let's pull that out and preach it to the skies, as they did Hillary's damned emails.
And finally, say election was rigged... why not? Seems like that's what they would have done anyway. You know, if Russia hadn't helped out like they did.
Get my drift? Let's start the witch hunts this time.
The funny thing is? Don J Trump is a democrat. The Trojan Horse.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama is the first mulatto president, His mother is solid white Kansas girl and must be acknowledged in history as such.
The first woman and African president is yet to be elected. Maybe Michelle Obama should be the 2020 elected President. And win both titles in history.
@Anonymous 5:09
DeletePresident Obama is a Black man.
When you look at him you see a Black man/an African American.. His mother and grandparents said he is a Black man. He himself says he is a Black man.
I suspect the term 'mulatto' to be used solely by bigots, unless you're trying out some roast-y styled humor. Kind of like the term 'high-yellow'. So last century, and the one before, etc.
DeleteDemocrats have to own this. We have always dropped the ball by not getting out and voting like we should.

He'll appoint idiots like Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Palin Giuliani, and Katrina Pierson to militarize police, kill what regulations and environment we have left, and sell off Federal lands to cronies.
THIS IS A NATIONAL NIGHTMARE, and even if he's impeached for his crimes and raping that 13 year old girl, we have Pence the Christian Taliban leader waiting to inflict hatred, and a Christian Sharia theocracy on us.
A sad day for America
A lot of stupid people. And a lot of depraved people. To vote for Trump meant having the ability to ignore so many horrible things they knew about him.
ReplyDeleteWe can always say, "I didn't vote for him". Now I fear the government. LOL
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks to people like you, Gryphen, with your very vocal opposition to Bernie, and Hillary's takeover of the Democratic primary, you have no one to blame but yourself and Hillary's minions. So many Bernie voters fled the party and voted for Trump. What did you all expect???? No, I did not vote for Trump, I voted for Hillary.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell are you talking about?
DeleteMany former bernie supporters wrote his name in or voted for the candidate that most corresponded with their values. Don't forget that Vermont went Clinton. Trump's platform is NOTHING like the Sanders' platform was.
Any former Sanders supporters who might have voted for Trump didn't give a damn about platform planks to begin with.
Oregon--your post is idiotic and makes no sense. The people to blame are the people who voted for Trump or 3rd party.
DeleteAnd there's the third party voter blame.
DeletePeople should be allowed to vote for whom they chose. The 2 party system has been failing American citizens for years.
If you have to assign blame, by all means blame the voters who actually cast their ballot for the man.
Anon@8:51--if someone voted 3rd party, they voted for someone who could not possibly win. Yes, they are to blame for this.
DeleteI'm very sorry Trump is president.
DeleteI have watched the Democratic party move to the right for decades, abandoning its base while courting Wall St., the military-industrial complex, wealthy lobbyists, making trade deals that sold out US workers (NAFTA, WTO), health reform and banking "reform" and deregulation that favored corporations and the 1 percent, etc. This began in the 1980s with the Democratic Leadership Council and the Clintons and their allies who made the party an appendage of moneyed interests, saying the party had gone too much to the "left," which translated into: get rid of unions, social spending, and financial regulations while letting Wall St. and the bankers run amok--and that resulted in the crash of 2008 and the greatest transfer of wealth in history upward to the 1 percent.
47 percent of Democrats voted for Sanders in the primaries. It was later shown that the DNC rigged the process against Sanders and his followers. Not only was that corrupt--it was stupid. If they had run Sanders he probably would have won the election--as many have pointed out Hillary was just about the only Democrat who could not beat Trump. Hillary lost in places Obama won easily--in traditionally Democratic districts in the rustbelt. The party has itself to look to for that sad fact.
Again, the Democrats lost this election by their own hand, by discounting and not comprehending voters' repudiation and dislike of the Clinton legacy on deregulation, working class issues etc.--and by not understanding that to many the Clinton dynasty is out of date and corrupt. Running a candidate that had the 2nd highest negativity rating in history was a blunder that is also at their own doorstep.
As I mentioned, the Clinton wing of the party shut down the progressive wing in the 1980s when the Democratic Leadership Council and the Clinton wing took control.
The Democrats lost touch with their base and the real wishes of millions of Democrat voters as seen in this current election debacle.
Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were not approached for any high profile positions, including vice-president--another serious miscalculation on the part of the D leadership. The Clintonites in their arrogance were planning for their victory party in Manhattan while Trump was out stumping for in the rustbelt to the very eve of the election.
The work from hereon for progressive Democrats is to build alliances that can minimize the damage of the onslaught of legislation coming from the Republican and Wall St. controlled Washington. And to build for the future in accord with the needs and wishes of the voters--not the moneyed interests that have been running policy in Washington for 40 plus years. This may be the work of generations --like the abolition of slavery, women's right to vote, the Civil Rights Movement, the labor movement.
Haven't stopped crying.
ReplyDeleteI have been on the verge of tears too. Fascism has marched into Washington.
DeleteOoooh Chris Evans, another pro-Hillary millionaire Hollywood pretty person sent out a tweet about his political feelings!......
ReplyDelete(are you starting to understand why she lost the rust belt?)
Nice disparaging attitude. Are you starting to understand why no one wants to listen to you?
Delete7:53 you still aren't getting it.
DeleteNo, I get it, 9:15.
DeleteNo one wants to listen to any one who speaks to them with disdain. No matter who they are, or what side they're on. Think about the persuasive and inclusive nature of Jimmy Carter. THAT is what brings people of differing mindsets together to work for a common cause.
And that is what we sorely need.
10:28, you get the general concept, but you are not applying that logic as to why Trump won.
DeleteAmerica should be so proud - there will be 2 whores in the white house come January. Or should we now call it the whore house?
ReplyDeleteMy wish for all those misogynistic morons who voted for 'orangeman', those who threw their votes away, and those who didn't vote - May you reap all you have sown for at least 10 generations! And may the intelligent part of the US population escape the consequences of their idiocy.
