Yes this absolutely needs to happen.

Courtesy of Politicususa:

Along with the recount, the American people deserve the details about Russia’s meddling in the presidential election. Once Trump takes office, those details will never be released, so it is up to President Obama to make the information public so that the American people can decide for themselves if the election was tampered with, and what if any role potential interference from Russia played in the presidential election.

It is easy to understand the President’s desire for a smooth transition of power, but there are many unanswered questions that have cast a shadow over our the safety and security of our electoral system. As President, Obama owes it to the American people to ease their concerns. The best way to help people understand what happened, and prevent it from happening again, is to make the information available to the public.

The request from the Senate Democrats is also important because it hints that a Democratic investigation is coming into the role that Russia played in helping Trump win the election. Democrats don’t have to be in the majority to conduct their own investigations, and the desire for more info from Intelligence Committee Democrats suggests that questions about the Trump/Russia connection aren’t going away anytime soon.

I personally do not see this as a partisan issue, but more of a national security issue.

If Russia can successful change the outcome of an election, then what are they capable of next?

I can guarantee you that if the shoe were on the other foot, and Russia had helped to get Hillary elected, the Republicans would be setting things on fire in the streets and investigation EVERYBODY evenly remotely associated with the election.

This is scary. Trump owes Russia big time and who knows how Trump will pay them back.

Yeah, I saw that too, 5:27. $700,000. All day, people were wondering what exactly Trump had done and it was hush-hush. Now we know. It had nothing to do with Trump being tough, like he said he'd be on the campaign trail. It had everything to do with Pence still being governor and handing over all that taxpayer money to Carrier.

I so hope that Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC (cable) are not shut down. They are the only ones providing the truth and facts when it comes to Trump and his past doings - as well as his current ones! They are trying to cover all his current stuff and it's very difficult to do - because of his diversions provided daily!

Listen and watch them folks as they are extremely truthful and provide facts!

Trump will eventually try to shut them down or take them off the air. Just hope neither of them is physically hurt.

All the other media are supporting Trump and building him up! Makes me sick to my stomach to see how the media, via Trump, is trying to control how we think and see the world around us.

Read, research and think, Americans! Don't follow like sheep being led to the slaughter!

But, most of all love one another and help fellow Americans (all types and religions) should the need arise.

Probable more than the salaries of the jobs he "created".

$700million to keep 1,000 jobs, ones they weren't planning to outsource anyway. That looks like $70K per job. Hey look, taxpayers, you paid their salaries, and Carrier gets off without paying them a penny.

      What a crock of SHIT!

Love that guy (I'm not in OR though I am a Duck!) and his fire mixed with decency. That's what I've always loved about the Dems.

I still miss the late MN senator Paul Wellstone--I wish he'd been around all these years to help keep what is right and just at the forefront.

And I so wanted WI's Russ Feingold to win and be back in the Senate.

    2. Dinty8:31 PM

I think if Wellstone was still alive he'd be at a very high level in the Democratic leadership (despite his promise to only serve 2 terms).

One of my greatest memories of working on Capitol Hill was once when I had to take the trolley to the Capitol, Senator Wellstone managed to convince the trolley conductor to allow him to drive. It delayed me a couple of minutes, but it was a really great moment.

    3. Anonymous10:18 PM

Dinty, that is a great story about Paul Wellstone--thanks! I agree--he'd have been so important and still would be. I don't have a problem with multiple terms when I see that the person is absolutely devoted to service. But so many of these guys make me sick with how they won't let go of the power and keeping hold on a career they'd be lost without unless they became lobbyists. And I can't stand McCain's desperation, and watching him campaign this last time made me sick. Well, I'm glad Coleman didn't last forever in MN and Al Franken got the seat. He's been a good senator. I know it sounds corny, but I'm always so proud when I see the Dems fighting for what's right.

Instead, they are going to pay them taxpayer money of 700 thousand dollars. Then they get to say they owned up what Trump bragged he would do while in the White House. It appears that Trump will learn that big businesses are more savvy than him. Prepared America to be bankrupt in five years and Trump does more of these covert deals at taxpayer's expense.

      Obama's Numbers per factcheck.org

      http://www.factcheck.org/2016/10/obamas-numbers-october-2016-update/

Debt – The federal debt has more than doubled under Obama.
As of Oct. 4, the U.S. government’s debt owed to the public was well over $14 trillion, an increase of nearly 125 percent since Obama first took office.

Deficits – Annual federal deficits hit $1.4 trillion in fiscal year 2009. As we’ve documented elsewhere, Obama inherited most of that deficit and signed spending measures that contributed, at most, $203 billion to FY 2009’s red ink.
After that, the yearly deficits declined markedly for several years. In fiscal year 2015, the deficit was $438 billion, a drop of 69 percent from FY 2009.
But deficits are again on the rise. CBO estimated most recently that the deficit for FY 2016 will increase to $588 billion by the time the Treasury Department completes a full accounting later this month. And without further cuts in spending or increases in revenue, Obama will leave his successor with rising debt and deficits.

Re: "If Russia can successfully change the outcome of an election, then what are they capable of next?"

Oh, please: Russia has done so (changed election outcomes) many times in their long history of grabbing what they want. Most recently in Ukraine, but also in the Baltics as WW II ended. What will they do next? There is ample evidence if you look at history.

Grab, grab, and a little more war on the Russian side would enrich the Putin pals a lot, just as our wars have enriched our 1% while draining the blood of our young people.

    Just sickening.

  17. Ah, more billionaire donors nominated for cabinet positions. Or rather, their grandsons.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-todd-ricketts_us_583f1efbe4b09e21702c1d96

Now it's a 45 year old billionaire. With no experience. Looks like the guy can't even hold a job.

"President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday announced his intent to nominate 47-year-old Todd Ricketts, the youngest son of billionaire TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts, to be his deputy secretary of commerce."

"According to his professional biography, Ricketts spent his “career as an entrepreneur and investor in the securities industry working at the New York City-based NASDAQ start-up, Knight Securities.”

But Ricketts only worked there for 14 months, a spokeswoman for the company told The Huffington Post, from September 1997 to November 1998. And as for Ricketts’ career as “an immensely successful businessman,” it appears to consist of a defunct eco-tourism venture and a local bike shop that Ricketts bought a few years ago to save it from going out of business. "

"But while Ricketts may lack the typical qualifications for such a high post, members of his family were major financial supporters of Trump’s campaign."

And there you have it. The only qualifications needed. You pay and you get to play.

Next stop? Dissolving Elizabeth Warren's Consumer Protection Bureau.

  18. And this is absolutely going to happen:

"Congress had six months to debate granting President-elect Donald Trump’s FBI new legal powers to hack millions of computers, and Republican leaders objected to doing so on Wednesday.

That means that starting Thursday, a Department of Justice official will be able to go to a single judge, assert that a computer crime may involve millions of networked devices, and get a warrant that lets the FBI hack all of those devices.

According to three senators who tried to put the brakes on that new authority Wednesday so Congress could at least discuss it, there are no concrete assurances from law enforcement officials that privacy won’t be violated or that devices won’t be damaged. Nor was there any explanation of how authorities will hack Americans’ wired equipment.

“At midnight tonight, this Senate will make one of the biggest mistakes in surveillance policy in years and years,” said Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), who tried with Sens. Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.) to offer three measures to delay or rein in the new FBI powers. “Without a single congressional hearing, without a shred of meaningful public input, without any opportunity for senators to ask their questions in a public forum, one judge with one warrant would be able to authorize the hacking of thousands, possibly
millions of devices, cell phones and tablets.”

In fact, very few Americans have any idea that the scope of online search warrants is about to get much broader. The push for the expansion stems from a case in Texas in which investigators were denied a warrant because they could not show that the computer they wanted to hack was in the federal district where the warrant was sought."

Independents must organize. This election was more of a global fix. Many countries involved. Huge breech of privacy and data around the world. Everything was analyzed regarding voters, all those rewards cards? data data data. Those smarty phones? track and trace. All the fancy dancy unregulated gadgets just for you. Yep and yes, there may have been tampering, hacking, stealing, bribes, extortion, threats, and unethical behavior beginning years ago and into primary The carpenters, like wolfs in the dark, plotted and planned the global political science project. Republicans placed 16 examples of their party agenda on stage to test the swamp waters. The most giddy up came from the deplorable 33% of registered voters. The democrats had one. Bernie should have ran as Independent. Republicans fired it up with bundy takeover. Moved onto creating drama and fireworks. Divide and conquer. Most folks that try to play fair and square are still stunned, dazed and confused. But? Scholars and Legal Eagles are working overtime.
