Asking President Obama if he faced racism during his presidency is kind of like asking a man on fire if he feels a little too warm.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

President Barack Obama opened up about racism he faced throughout his presidency in an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Wednesday.

“Are there folks whose primary concern about me has been that I seem foreign ― the other? Are those who champion the birther movement feeding off of bias?” Obama asked rhetorically. “Absolutely.”

Along with interviewing Obama, Zakaria narrated segments of the CNN special. He pointed out that the president “doesn’t see racism in mainstream opposition to him, but he does see it on the fringes.”

”I think there’s a reason attitudes about my presidency among whites in northern states are very different from whites in southern states,” Obama told Zakaria.

The way this great man was treated through both his terms in office, simply because of the color of his skin, is something for which every American should feel shame.

And the fact that the man who most vocally attacked him, undermined his legitimacy to be President, and essentially labeled him as un-American, is the man who will now replace him in the White House, is a stain on our nation that no amount of white washing will ever get out.

History is going to treat President Obama extremely well, and I think that in a very short amount of time even his critics are going to wish that they had treated him with more respect, especially when they compare his presidency to the one that is now looming before us.

The first time President Obama was Inaugurated, the gop led by McConnell had a gathering. They swore to block EVERY single thing the President tried to do. McConnell, who has a constituency in Kentucky who live in poverty, said "My main job is to make sure he is a one term president" They worked fewer days and were the least productive of any congress in history, yet people voted a lot of them back into office. No wonder they feel untouchable. All I can say is that their leader, the big orange rump, is appropriate for this group of traitors and losers.

McConnell, from Kentucky, is a proven racist and is just as ugly inside and out as is Donald Trump!

I love the fact that President Obama has proven himself to be an excellent leader of our country, was elected for two terms (I voted for him both times!) ALL in spite of the crap McConnell and his Republican party members did to obstruct President Obama and his Administration.

It didn't work! Screw the Republican party and don't vote for one of them again as things slowly turn and get straightened out! Cast your votes for the folks that will work for Americans, not obstruct and ones that are not racist or anti various religions.

We sorely need to get rid of the Republicans currently serving in the U.S.Congress, state Legislatures where their majority are Republicans, and in our cities and communities!

Pay close attention for whom you vote, Americans. Research how they voted on issues as to the way they publically spoke - often they were not the same. There are many that have lied and deceived their constituents!

Shocking New Poll Shows That A Vast Majority Of Trump Voters Live In Another Reality

We've reached a dangerous point in our politics where people are divided not just by different political ideologies, but also by their belief in reality.

...The full PPP poll will be released on Friday, but these results show what Donald Trump’s conspiracy-driven campaign has done to our politics and how he has convinced his supporters that the world as it is doesn’t really exist.

Spot-on assessment Gryphen; truer words could not have been spoken! President Obama's legacy will endure for many years! As a Canadian, I really feel for our American neighbours (the intelligent electorate, that is). The impending shit-storm that is coming, courtesy of the orange shit-gibbon, and his wealthy cronies, will devastate the U.S. economy, and will be felt in other nations as well, Canada included. The American people have been duped by a malignant con artist! Get rid of him before it's too late!

Not only that, but how First Lady Michelle was called every racial epithet in the book. Yet she kept her grace and class and, in my opinion, is the best FLOTUS we've had since Jackie Kennedy.

Totally agree, 6:52 AM! President Obama and First Lady Michelle have been outstanding in the leadership roles of our country.

As much as Republicans hate to see or hear it, (and constantly try to counter the FACTS!), the Obamas are loved, respected and admired throughout our country and the world! A feat the Republican party cannot begin to compare!

I cannot, in ANY way, view a Donald Trump and wife (a proven porno queen) in the same manner! Plus, they don't have the natural abilities to draw folks to them as do the Obamas!

President Obama is genuinely a good man. Once the next administration gets underway, all Americans will realize what a great leader we had in President Obama.

I hope he is treated better without racial prejudice in the future. His back ground of living in India, college education, raised with ettiquette and culture is "foreign" to many plus as a mixed race man how dare he become something or someone capable of becoming President?

My ex mil hated everyone not like her. When a black child received recognition for outstanding achievement she flew into a rage. Racists have white entitlement anger issues.

Trump supporters are completely out of touch with reality and how well President Obama did during his term. They forget where he started. For them up is down and wrong is right.

Republicans, who generally have problems with facts and history and reality, convinced themselves that all of the woes of 2008 and early 2009 were the fault of President Obama. Because they refused to use George Bush's name during the 2008 campaign, they believed that his administration had never been in power. They must also believe in unicorns.

21 year old Latina>"Berecin, who dropped her support for Hillary Clinton over Benghazi, expressed concern about donations made by foreign government officials to her charitable foundation but dismissed similar ethical concerns about Trump."“Here we are trying to hang this one misogynist and trying to condemn him. I think that’s why Trump did not lose a lot of women.”“I do believe he’s going to have the biggest and brightest minds by his side,” Berecin said. “He’s made a couple mistakes like not knowing he had to reappoint 4,000 people to work at the White House."“The Supreme Court has ruled on that — he can’t just take away those rights,” she said. “If he appoints Supreme Court justices that are anti-abortion, I would question if they would overturn Roe v. You are so right on about this, Gryphen.

I am an elderly, white, retired lady that voted for President Obama BOTH times and have never regretted doing so even one iota.

His being our outstanding POTUS and watching the Republican party constantly try to demean and obstruct him basically has done them no good - other than to make Americans and residents of other countries hate and dislike their party members even more!

President Obama has higher approval ratings than any Republicans in Congress! And, the majority of Americans respect and admire President Obama for ALL of his outstanding qualities.

There will be Republicans (etc.), as well as the rest of us that did NOT not support Trump, that are going to rue the day they elected this very racist, nasty, vindictive, unknowledgeable, and war monger to lead our country.

I don't know what to try to protect first once he takes the oath of office (which he'll never adhere to)!

I truly fear for our country due to the division we are already experiencing - created by Republicans and Donald Trump.

I have immense dislike and yes, hate (!) that I feel toward other Americans! "Hate" was never a word in my vocabulary ten years ago!

And, I also have the strong feelings to help protect the poor and minorities in my community and urge others assist them too - either financially or through personal endeavors.

Be very watchful of Trump - as well as the folks he has the hopes of adding to his administration. I DO see civil war approaching! Trump is pure evil and absolutely deplorable!
