Donald Trump to name Rick Perry as the Secretary of Energy, an agency he once forgot he wanted to eliminate completely.

I knew if I started wearing these that somebody would think I was smart enough for a job.
Courtesy of USA Today:

President-elect Donald Trump will nominate former Texas Gov. Rick Perry to serve as secretary of Energy, according to reports by CBS News and NBC News.

The former GOP presidential hopeful beat out two contenders for the Cabinet post: Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat representing West Virginia, and Ray Washburne, a Dallas investor working in oil and gas operations, CBS News reported.

On Monday, Perry attended a meeting at Trump Towers but didn't take questions from reporters.

The Energy Department is the same federal agency Perry wanted to eliminate — and then forgot to name when asked which departments he would shut down.

"I will tell you, it is three agencies of government when I get there that are gone: Commerce, Education, and — what's the third one there? Let's see," Perry said during a Republican presidential primary debate in November 2011.

Perry followed that last part up with an "Oops."

Which is exactly what every idiot who voted for Donald Trump should also be saying about now.

By the way Rick Perry is on the board of the company behind the Dakota Access Pipeline, which means those native American protesters better not get used to sleeping in their own beds anytime soon.

You know when I first suggested that Donald Trump was putting people in his cabinet to destroy the agencies they were responsible for I was half kidding.

This is no longer a joking matter.

Isn't that the job that Sarah Palin claimed that she wanted and after getting it, she would eliminate that department? Does Donald Trump ever listen to Sarah Palin?

She wouldn't have dared to criticize him if she had any chance of getting anything from Trump. Once she knew she was out, she did what he'd do. Vindictive, payback, retaliation.

The selection of this junta of fanatics, sociopaths, corporatists, plutocrats, and all around despicable people is mind boggling and expected from the man/child with the "best brain." He is going to have the swamp chock full like it has never been filled before. Think of all the idiots who voted for him who are going to see their lives get more difficult. Who will they blame now?

They will blame President Obama. The people who voted for this evil are not big on self reflection or humility. I thank my lucky stars everyday that I live in a blue state and mostly everyone I know voted for Hillary. I hate and I mean hate the fucking assholes who voted for trump so much that I would end relationships without a second thought.

I met a girl who sang the blues,
I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away.

I went down to the sacred store,
Where I'd heard the music years
      before
But the man there said the music
      wouldn't play.

And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost,
They caught the last train for the

So bye, bye, Miss American Pie...

    ● Sarah Palin Is Back And Demanding A Government Job As Donald Trump’s Energy Secretary

    ● “I think a lot about the Department of Energy, because energy is my baby

    ● “I think a lot about the Department of Energy. And if I were the head of that, I’d get rid of it.

    ● Palin stakes her claims to being an energy expert on her time serving as a member of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, but she served as a citizen member, not expert. And as we all can see, just hailing from a state where they drill oil doesn’t make you an expert.

(LOL Sarah Palin thinks being a citizen member makes her an expert. What a turd)

Van Jones is now running a PR firm that is dead set on defeating Trump in the Electoral College. That’s right, Van Jones is actively courting Republican electors to vote against Trump on December 19th.

The firm, called Megaphone Strategies, is currently handling all media inquiries for the first official anti-Trump elector Chris Suprun. But the firm is also in working with other Republican electors, so while Trump has been helping his billionaire friends Van Jones has been raising an anti-Trump “army.”

By saying that Trump’s Sec. of State nominee, Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson must be opposed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) took the first step in mobilizing his millions of grassroots supporters against a Trump cabinet pick.

Sen. Sanders said in a statement, “Mr. Trump’s nomination of Rex Tillerson for secretary of state is sending a very troubling message to the international community. Not only is Mr. Tillerson a pal of Russia’s authoritarian leader, Vladimir Putin, but he is the head of one of the largest oil companies in the world. In this appointment, Mr. Trump is making it abundantly clear that the short-term profits of the fossil fuel industry are more important than climate change and the future of the planet. Very sad. Very dangerous. Mr. Tillerson must be opposed.”

Sanders nailed it. The CEO of Exxon Mobil is completely unqualified to be secretary of state. The nominee has dangerous ties with a hostile foreign actor and has a major conflict of interest.

    Sanders is not alone.

As he is being swallowed by a scandal involving Russia meddling in the election to help him win, Donald Trump tried desperately to distract the press and change the subject by trotting out Kanye West in front of the cameras.

The Kanye stunt was straight out of the Trump playbook. The president-elect can’t stand bad cable news coverage, so with the Russia election interference scandal growing by the day, Trump had to do something to get the dogs off the scent.

Trump is doing a song and dance while moving pieces around, but he appears to have no interest in addressing the real problem. If Trump keeps ownership in his business interests and those interests take a single payment from a foreign government, he will be in violation of the Constitution and subject to impeachment.

By stubbornly refusing to put the country ahead of his own financial interests, president-elect Trump will be giving his critics grounds for impeachment. Trump could easily solve this issue today by either placing his business interests in a blind trust or divesting his interests.

It is now clear, a month after the election of Donald Trump, that he is willing and able to sell the power of the Presidency to the most corrupt, right-wing influences of the corporate world and defense contractors, along with the most extremist right-wing forces imaginable on issues such as health care, the environment, education, workers rights, civil rights and civil liberties.

His appointments so far are shockingly more extreme than at any point in all of American history. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Reagan certainly were influenced by the corporate world and defense industries, but not to the extreme extent that is now evident after just one month of President-Elect Trump’s shaping of the future government.

So we see corporate influence in the appointments of Steven Mnuchin as Secretary of the Treasury; Wilbur Ross as Secretary of Commerce; Andrew Puzder as Secretary of Labor; and Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education.

We see the role of the military and defense contractors in the the decision to appoint a number of generals, including Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser; James Mattis as Secretary of Defense; and John Kelly as Secretary of Homeland Security.

We see extremism in the appointments of Georgia Representative Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services; Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education; Andrew Puzder as Secretary of Labor; and Alabama Senator Jeff Session as Attorney General.

Trump has awarded a Presidential rival during the recent campaign, Dr. Ben Carson, the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, although Carson has zero understanding or knowledge of housing issues, other than the fact that he grew up in a Detroit ghetto. A reporter noted that his campaign website never even mentioned housing as an issue.

Trump has made South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley the Ambassador to the United Nations, even though Haley has no history of any involvement in foreign policy issues. And Trump has made Iowa Governor Terry Branstad the Ambassador to China, with Branstad’s long time friendship with the Chinese President over trade connections his only credential to fulfill that responsibility.

Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is to be the Secretary of Transportation after having served as Secretary of Labor under George W. Bush. This is a rare case of an appointee with actual government experience. But of course it’s no accident that she is connected to the most powerful member of the Senate.

Mention should be made here of the rapidly growing influence of Vice President-Elect Mike Pence, who clearly is going to have a major role in swaying the inexperienced Trump in a hard right direction on issues related to women, gays and lesbians.

  17. Every nominee has an agenda that seeks to eliminate the department they have been nominated too.

They are horrendous. They will destroy what we have worked centuries to protect and defend.

The Republicans DON'T EVEN CARE. They won. They don't care how. They don't even care if Russia is responsible. They won. That is the real danger that cannot be fixed. That mind set.

No matter what happens with the electoral college or this investigation, our country is already destroyed. We are divided and as long as racism, bigotry, misogyny, etc. run rampant and are at the very least tolerated, our country will never recover.
