Gene Simmons' wife told TMZ KISS "politely declined" the invitation to perform at the inauguration. Simmons said he would be touring Europe at the time.
Trump's longtime friend Steve Wynn reportedly promised to deliver Celine Dion to perform at the inauguration, but could not follow through.
Producer David Foster released a statement “politely declining” the offer to participate in the inauguration after rumors swirled he was participating.
Elton John told the New York Times he was not performing after Anthony Scaramucci, a member of the presidential transition team, told the BBC the singer would sing a song or two.
Page Six reported that Andrea Bocelli will not perform because of the backlash he received over accepting the gig. They also reported that President-Elect Trump suggested the tenor not participate because of said backlash.
Variety and the NY Post have reported that Garth Brooks will not perform at the inauguration after he said earlier this month he "would be honored" to perform. Brooks did not return FOX411’s request for comment.
The manager for the band Chainsmokers had to respond to New York Magazine’s Brian Feldman after he tweeted the band was performing. They are not.
Wait, he cannot even get a band that calls themselves "Chainsmokers" to play for him? Isn't THAT just about the bottom of the barrel?
I find the idea of a guy who LOVES to surround himself with celebrities being unable to find any of them to perform at his inauguration to be laugh out loud funny.
However I also believe that Trump will eventually find SOMEBODY relatively famous to risk the end of their career by showing up.
Ted Nugent for instance is already at the end of his career, and after Meatloaf butchered "America the Beautiful" at a Mitt Romney rally in 2012 what really does he have to lose anymore?
Well if all else fails he did manage to snag the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
And nothing says party til you can't party no more, like a bunch of singing Mormons.
Late last night Trump defensively tweeted this:
Okay he does realize that there will be cameras there at the inauguration right? The so-called "A" list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 23, 2016

Saw the Rocketts perform their Christmas show on the 9th. It was one of the highlights of our NYC visit. So sad to know that they are being forced to entertain at the inauguration.
DeleteLet's hope they pull a fast one. Perform their very worst on that day... however their worst would still be pretty good. Or maybe get a severe case of the 'blue flu'.
DeleteNO ONE should be threatened with unemployment for not bowing to that orange asshole.
I heard on TV last night that they also performed for Bush, so it's not like Trump's booking of the Rockettes is a novel idea. He thinks he's mister New York, though. But NY hates him and made it clear on 11/8. Surely, he's seeing the Rockettes thing as evidence that NY loves him. It's all about creating an impression, a lie, with him.
DeleteI'm so glad that tweet went out. He uses people to lie and create an image all the time. This way, though, he can't do that the way he usually does--he can try, but at least one tweet from a Rockette is going to be out there and referred to. BTW, I can't help but think of David Letterman's days having the Rockettes on. It was always fun for everyone and he showed them much respect.
DeleteSo, the only way he gets anyone to perform for him will be through coercion and blackmail.

HOW DONALD TRUMP'S BUSINESS TIES ARE ALREADY JEOPARDIZING U.S. INTERESTS
BY KURT EICHENWALD
ON 12/13/16 AT 6:50 AM.
Donald Trump hasn’t been sworn in yet, but he is already making decisions and issuing statements to world leaders that radically depart from American foreign policy, all to the benefit of his family’s corporate empire. Because of this, the next president of the United States is already vulnerable to undue influence by other nations, including through bribery and even blackmail...
If Trump Tower Moscow goes under construction, Trump will see it while in Russia and know that his kids are making millions of dollars from it. That is why foreign leaders hoping to curry favor will do everything they can to help Trump’s family erect more buildings, sell more jewelry and make money through any means possible. Even if the family steps away from its company while Trump is president, every nation on Earth will know that doing business with the Trump Organization will one day benefit the family. The only way to eliminate the conflicts—sell the company, divvy up the proceeds—has been rejected by Trump, whose transition team refused to respond to any questions from Newsweek for this article....

Secondly, my response would be..."You know tRump had to grab some women by the pussy just to force them to entertain himself".

Stomach turning:
ReplyDelete...Carl Paladino, who co-chaired Donald Trump’s New York campaign, is refusing to back down from derogatory and racist comments he made on his 2017 “wish list,” including the hope that President Barack Obama dies from mad cow disease, and Michelle Obama “returns to being a male” and lives with a gorilla in an African cave.
“Obama catches mad cow disease after being caught having relations with a Herford,” the Buffalo School Board member wrote of what he would “most like to happen in 2017.”
“[Obama] dies before his trial and is buried in a cow pasture next to Valerie Jarret, who died weeks prior, after being convicted of sedition and treason, when a Jihady cell mate mistook her for being a nice person and decapitated her,” he added.
As for what Paladino would “most like to see go in 2017,” the prominent developer responded, “Michelle Obama.”
“I’d like her to return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla,” he wrote.
Paladino told The Buffalo News he “of course” made the comments. “Tell them all to go f*ck themselves,” he said of inquiring news editors. “Tell that Rod Watson I made that comment just for him,” he added. Watson is a black editor and columnist for The News.
Paladino, who recently asked the Buffalo school district to hang photos of Donald Trump in public schools throughout the county, channeled the president-elect, lamenting PC culture.
“Yeah, I’m not politically correct,” he told The News. “They asked what I want and I told them.”

IDINA MENZEL
ReplyDeleteThe "Wicked" star got a little snarky when asked to comment on Donald Trump having trouble locking down Inauguration performers, telling Vanity Fair, "It's karma, baby."
...Menzel posited that Trump might just take matters into his own hands, should no additional performers materialize. “Maybe he’ll just have to sing something himself. He probably thinks he has a great voice; he thinks he does everything great.”

Trump starting his Presidency off by forcing women to dance for him is the perfect metaphor for his Presidency. He's legitimately becoming Jabba the Hutt.

Love this statement by Ross, the guy in charge of the We the People concert:
ReplyDeleteHe has made it clear that he dislikes Trump, writing: “If you’re educated and have at least half a brain, faux reality star Trump winning truly sucks. Those voting against trump also wanted change. And not necessarily Hillary. But change should be based on a well educated, thoughtful and enlightened choice. That did not happen this time. It did with Reagan. But not this time.”
It's so funny. Trump couldn't get anyone to perform at the convention or get any seriously admired speakers, and now he can't get anyone to play at his party. He mocked the fact that stars came out to campaign with Hillary. He still, at 70, doesn't get that politics is a part of everyone's daily life, and artists of various types are always aware of that. It may make some of us groan at times when they spout during such events as the Oscars, but they are serious and have every right to do more than just sing or act or whatever it is they are known for. I am so sick of people coming down on the artists out there and telling them to shut up. Every person, like those here at IM who feel the need to say something each day or to just listen to others speak, needs to realize that his and her every day is marked by politics in a myriad of ways. Life IS political. Well, I freaking love this concert plan that seems like it will happen. Gryphen and others...great minds think alike, for sure.
ReplyDeletePut up a brass pole and let Melania perform.

ReplyDeleteOne word: scottbaio!
ReplyDeleteI know the perfect act for his inauguration: Sarah can play the flute !!!
ReplyDeleteSarah already tried playing President Anus mouth's 'flute' all right, but he just left afterwards with her groveling in the dirt, wiping flute juice from her decrepit, nasty lips.
DeleteIf I were a Rockette, I'd be reading my contract very carefully?
ReplyDeleteAm I required to smile?
Am I required to wear makeup?
Am I required to have my hair done in any specific manner.
To what extent can my performance not be up to par before I am dismissed. In other words. Can they mess up this performance and only suffer a fine or warning?
I'd carefully peruse those sections that relate to illness and disability. Elective surgery.
I agree.
DeleteDancers can have "off" performances.
What - can they all be fired?
TYPO ALERT!
ReplyDeleteIts the Mormon TUBERCULAR choir that will be coughing its way through a couple of tunes for Trump's Ego Fest.
