The Weather Channel's message to Breitbart: "Science doesn't care about your opinion."

Courtesy of The Weather Channel:

Global warming is not expected to end anytime soon, despite what Breitbart.com wrote in an article published last week.

Though we would prefer to focus on our usual coverage of weather and climate science, in this case we felt it important to add our two cents — especially because a video clip from weather.com (La Niña in Pacific Affects Weather in New England) was prominently featured at the top of the Breitbart article. Breitbart had the legal right to use this clip as part of a content-sharing agreement with another company, but there should be no assumption that The Weather Company endorses the article associated with it.

The Breitbart article – a prime example of cherry picking, or pulling a single item out of context to build a misleading case – includes this statement: "The last three years may eventually come to be seen as the final death rattle of the global warming scare."

In fact, thousands of researchers and scientific societies are in agreement that greenhouse gases produced by human activity are warming the planet’s climate and will keep doing so.

The Weather Channel then goes on to bury Breitbart under a mountain of scientific data and facts that demonstrate the inaccuracies of their claims.

And that is the inherent problem.

The Weather Channel is using facts and data to reach a group that only responds to factless hyperbole prefaced by explosive headlines.

If the folks at Breitbart understood facts they would not be the folks at Breitbart.

We could dismiss all of this with a derisive chuckle, if it were not for the fact that Breitbart, along with Alex Jones, is now the place where our new president gets all of his "news."

No that cold chill you feel right now is not the end of global warming, but it could be the end of civilization as we know it.

    1. Alberto Gonzales was W's Attorney General and essentially the guy who said that it was okay to torture.

The fact that he was spotted in Trump Tower cannot bode well for America.

An observation...(not to be read as a brag) I know a ton of people. I have 1500+ fb friends and I know all of them. I know people on all 7 continents and all 50 states.

I just went to the IM fb page. NONE of my fb friends "like" it.

This interests me and while IM is not a big site it shows how huge the world is.

  11. We're screwed:

" President-elect Donald Trump has picked Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to serve as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, his former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway told reporters Wednesday.

Pruitt has been a vocal critic of EPA regulations and defender of fossil fuel interests. Lawyers for Devon Energy, one of his state’s biggest oil and gas companies, authored a letter Pruitt sent to the EPA criticizing estimates on emissions from natural gas drilling sites, The New York Times reported in 2014.

The Times published 84 pages of correspondence between Pruitt and Devon, which it described as evidence of an “unprecedented, secretive alliance that Mr. Pruitt and other Republican attorneys general have formed with some of the nation’s top energy producers to push back against the Obama regulatory agenda.”

The Trump transition team has looked at Pruitt’s state as a model for a looser regulatory approach to fossil fuel development despite the fact that Oklahoma is being rocked ― literally ― by earthquakes linked to underground disposal of wastewater from oil and gas operations. "

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-pruitt-environmental-protection-agency_us_584856f1e4b0b9feb0dab14f

"Under Pruitt’s lead, Oklahoma was one of two dozen states to file suit against the EPA over the Clean Power Plan, the Obama administration’s regulatory effort to curb emissions from power plants. Pruitt said he would ensure that the power plant rules, and other regulatory efforts from the current administration, “will ... not survive his presidency.” "

"The National Institute on Money In State Politics database shows that Pruitt has brought in nearly $325,000 in donations from the natural resources energy sector. Oil and gas tycoon Harold Hamm from Oklahoma ― who has been discussed as a potential Trump pick to head the Department of Energy ― led Pruitt’s 2013 re-election campaign.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), the Senate’s most vocal critic of the idea that human activity is causing climate change, called Pruitt “one of [his] closest personal friends” and said he is well-suited for the job."

I think Al Gore is wasting his time with this family. That meeting was obviously window dressing.

  12. It's not over!

    http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/dakota-access-fully-committed-to-completing-pipeline-using-current-route/article_f406d5f3-d30d-5833-bd06-605b8a6894d8.html

"Developers of the Dakota Access Pipeline say they are “fully committed” to completing the project without rerouting the pipeline and filed a motion in federal court Monday seeking to expedite a federal judge’s decision.

Dakota Access LLC, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners, requested Monday to make oral arguments at the court’s earliest convenience in its cross claim against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The company suggests Friday as a possible hearing date.

In a motion for summary judgment, Dakota Access wants a U.S. District Court judge to declare that the corps already authorized construction of the Lake Oahe crossing north of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

Attorneys for Dakota Access argue the corps approved the crossing with its July 25, 2016, final environmental assessment but is “bowing to political pressure and the lawless acts of numerous protesters.” "

I told you! They wait until the heat is off and the attention of everyone has shifted somewhere else. They the swoop in quickly and it's a done deal before anyone can do anything about it.

And you know who owns stock in the parent company of Energy Transfer Partners. I don't care what his fucking lawyer claims. There is no proof he sold diddly squat.

Why in the hell should Briebart be deciding what is done about climate change?

Why are we letting them? It is time to stand up to these morons with the truth.
