We might soon be able to add Florida to the states that will undergo a recount.

Courtesy of the Palmer Report:

Yesterday a federally registered nonprofit election entity launched a fundraiser to cover the court costs of a lawsuit it intended to file in the name of forcing a statewide recount in the narrowly decided state of Florida. The attorney fees were fully crowdfunded within a matter of hours. And today the attorney in question announced that he has officially filed the lawsuit in question, creating at least some possibility that a Florida recount may happen.

Florida state law prohibits any candidate from requesting a recount, meaning that third party candidate Jill Stein cannot force a recount in the state even if she pays for the costs, as she’s doing in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. But this lawsuit is aimed at getting a judge to order a Florida recount, whether republican state officials want to do it or not.

Clint Curtis, the Florida attorney who has been hired to lead the legal charge in court, announced today via his official Facebook page that the election complaint is now indeed underway in the legal arena.

Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and now Florida.

You know if even one of these flips to Hillary there will be a cacophony of calls for ALL of the seeing states, if not all of the states, to go back and do recounts.

I have had my doubts, but this really could turn into a big deal.

Hard to imagine that it would be a big enough deal to change the outcome of this election, but it could cause our voting system to restructure itself so that ALL states will have paper ballots easily verifiable with a hand recount.

FINALLY!!!! I've been ranting about this. There was so much talk about 28% of Repubs voting for Hillary and it was presented as if there was no way, even with a shift, that Hillary could now lose FLA. It was on TV and in the news--it was that big of a deal and with supposed expert math analysis done. Then right after 11/8 people talked about needing to look at the state, but things suddenly went silent.

I wonder if someone could comment of the credentials and credibility of the Palmer Report. It seems to be the only source reporting certain info: I am wishing it is true, but I wonder why it is not repeated in the MSM?

I am one who is fervently hoping for an overturned election. Or in other words, for the Electors to vote for Hill or Bloomberg or anyone but Trump on Dec 19. This news re FL is good news.

FFS if you let your kid "believe" in Santa past 3 years of age then you are as guilty as if you let your kids believe in "god".

"Easter Bunny", "Tooth Fairy", all of these as well, please just tell your children the truth from the moment they are able to comprehend what you are telling them.

Fairy tales create inherent weakness in the minds of our children (and adults, see: Religion/Faith. Just tell them the truth and trust me they will be better for it.

My brother and I were raised by rational Atheists and we helped so many kids through the lies and fairy tales surrounding religion and the holidays. Please, don't allow your kids to believe lies.

In natural development, kids do go thru a "magical thinking" stage. I agree we should not encourage it by perpetuating Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc.

Michigan’s attorney general has filed a lawsuit to stop a recount of the presidential election results requested by Green Party nominee Jill Stein, his office announced on Friday.

“Michigan voters rejected Stein’s candidacy by massive margins but her refusal to accept that state-verified result poses an expensive and risky threat to hard-working taxpayers and abuses the intent of Michigan law,” Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, a Republican, said. “We have asked the court to end the recount which Stein is pursuing in violation of Michigan laws that protect the integrity of our elections. It is inexcusable for Stein to put Michigan voters at risk of paying millions and potentially losing their voice in the Electoral College in the process.”

How about North Carolina in its recount for governor with the Democrat, Cooper 10,000 votes ahead of the Republican McCrory.

Does anyone believe that 10,000 voters voted for a Democratic governor but split the ticket and voted for Trump in NC?

No way!!! We need a recount for the presidential ticket in North Carolina. How do we get someone to take that on and prove over 10,000 deplorables voted for a democratic governor while voting for Drumpf? Not even in your nightmares!

    1. They funny thing about the N.C. recount the governor wants is that a majority of those ballots he wants included are from Democratic strongholds. So they can only help his opponent (and possibly Clinton).

Thousands of ballots were questioned because someone challenged the registrations of the voters. No reason given and none needed. In N.C. anyone can challenge and that ballot is put aside.

      Totally corrupt.

But what the Governor hopes to gain from adding those most likely Democratic voters, I have no clue.

      Delete
  9. They should add North Carolina too. Tens of thousands of ballots were challenged and pulled from the count. In N.C. all you have to do is question a registration and that's it. No reason given.

GET RID OF THE LYING BITCH!

Nearly 100,000 New Yorkers sign petition to get rid of Melania Trump

Next First Lady wants to keep living in Trump Towers, but other city residents say they do not want her there

...Usually, the family of new presidents immediately move into the White House in Washington DC, but this time Ms Trump wants to defy convention and stay behind - at an estimated expense of $1,000,000 a day in security costs to New York taxpayers.

The petition asks the Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, and City Mayor Bill De Blasio to refuse to pay to protect Donald Trump’s wife, after he moves out of Trump Tower, the 58-story skyscraper on Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan, where the family currently reside in the luxury penthouse.

“The New York taxpayers refuse to pay over $1 million a day so she can stay,” the petitioners wrote. “If this decision has been made, between the two of them they should be the ones to pay for it. Not New York taxpayer dollars that could be used on roads, schools, transit, sanitation, new jobs and other expenses that the city has.”

They added: “This is what tax dollars should be used for, improvements for the city and all the people of the city, not just one.”

"Donald Trump raced through some anemic calls for unity before mocking ABC’s Martha Raddatz for weeping on election night. “How about when a major anchor who hosted a debate started crying when she realized that we won? How about that?” he gloated. His voice thickened with fake sobs as he mimicked Raddatz’s supposed breakdown: “No, tell me this isn’t true.” For the president-elect, feeling is more important than governing. He loves being nice, and he LOVES being MEAN, and he loves being both in quick succession."<$ADI$T!
"Trump’s remarks were baffling. Why would he volunteer that he had no intention of keeping his campaign promise? Why would he chuckle over his inability to even remember the pledges he’d offered?"Every time Trump injects chaos into the system or subverts our expectations, he makes the spectacle better, and America worse."

I have posted this before, but there is a woman named Elizabeth (Beth) Clarkson who is a statistician at Wichita State University in Kansas who contends that the Governors race in KS was stolen. She has compiled stats from counties that she says don't add up. Other professors from other state universities took notice and took a look at their states, and a movement was born.

In EVERY CASE a rich white guy who had never held elected office won a close Governors race. And in Kansas, Kris Kobach was involved and is the person Beth Clarkson sued to get the paper ballots.

Rich white guys who have never held elected office won Governorships in some key states, and Donald Trump (another rich white guy who never held elected office) is the culmination of their efforts. And guess who Kellyanne Conway mentioned three times in a Good Morning America interview the other day? Kris Kobach. He is the election FIXER for the right wing, and the Koch Brothers. They fixed all the presidential results in states where they already FIXED the governors races. And the Governors helped them do it. Rick Scott, Scott Walker, John Kasich, Rick Snyder, Bruce Rauner, etc. Take a look at all these state races and then google Beth Clarkson. It tells the tale of the 2016 Presidential Election.

THIS WOULD BE AWESOME! The Obama News Network! The possibilities are endless! We could get lots of progressive voices out there on such a network.

...President Barack Obama has been discussing a post-presidential career in digital media and is considering launching his own media company, according to multiple sources who spoke on background because they were not authorized to speak for the president.

Obama considers media to be a central focus of his next chapter, these sources say, though exactly what form that will take — a show streaming on Netflix, a web series on a comedy site or something else — remains unclear. Obama has gone so far as to discuss launching his own media company, according to one source with knowledge of the matter...

Even if these recounts don't change the outcome of the election, if they show the margin was closer than first reported, it will bug the hell out of Trump how close it was. Not winning the popular vote - He's a loser! - and winning the deciding states by narrow margins seals that he doesn't have a mandate.

Green Party drops Pennsylvania recount bid

The Green Party has dropped its bid for a statewide recount of votes cast in Pennsylvania during the Nov. 8 presidential election, according to court documents released Saturday.
The decision to withdraw the case, which sought to recount votes that lawyers argued could have been affected by potential hacking into voting machines, preceded a hearing scheduled for Monday.

Jill Stein, the Green Party’s presidential candidate who led a recount effort across Pennsylvania as well as Wisconsin and Michigan, where President-elect Donald Trump secured narrow wins over Hillary Clinton in the general election, slammed the state's required $1 million bond to begin the recount in a statement Saturday night. ......

He has been calling it a landslide. MI was by .2, WI by .8, PA by 1.1, and FLA by 1.2.

He won many conservative small states that will never vote for a Dem and unfortunately they get so much say in the outcome. He also won some other states by a small margin than he should have, like by 4.5 in AZ and 3.6 in NC (I know it was said the Dems would win it, but their gov is insane and wields power). More and more, the states with products and ideas and something of interest and value are going more Dem while all the very conservative small states with no vision whatsoever and fewer electoral votes are shutting out innovation and becoming isolated. How can he feel proud that the states he appeals to are ones who don’t value art or reading and writing and so many other things that help humans evolve. He’d never be able to stand one week living in such places. He can pretend he loves those states and their people all he wants. Deep down, he knows that he appeals to people he thinks of as the losers in this country, the people who bore him to death and who make him cringe.

All of this does at least make me look forward to the protests planned for January.

We need intense and insistent voices other than Warren's out there who call Trump and the others out on their BS. But who is there? Man, when I used to watch the House and Senate Dems in the 1990s they were the best at handling this crap. They were smart as anything with impressive degrees but they could relate to the little guy. I remember watching Joe Kennedy II in the House speaking his mind in a way that you couldn’t not stop and listen to. I remember seeing him on TV with his sleeves rolled up and looking like he could work through an issue for the next three days straight. I was so hoping he’d run for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat (man, loved listening to Teddy's speeches on the Senate floor). And I wish Bobby Jr. would run for office. These are two older (but not too-too old) progressives who are out there doing things for people in need behind the scenes.

Man, what is it with Massachusetts Dems, senators (like Warren and Markey) and otherwise? They are the best.
