Donald Trump has plans to revamp American intelligence agencies. Well of course he does. Update!

Courtesy of the Wall Street Journal:

President-elect Donald Trump, a harsh critic of U.S. intelligence agencies, is working with top advisers on a plan that would restructure and pare back the nation’s top spy agency, people familiar with the planning said.

The move is prompted by his belief that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has become bloated and politicized, these people said.

The planning comes as Mr. Trump has leveled a series of social-media attacks in recent months and the past few days against U.S. intelligence agencies, dismissing and mocking their assessment that Russia stole emails from Democratic groups and individuals and then provided them to WikiLeaks for publication in an effort to help Mr. Trump win the White House.

One of the people familiar with Mr. Trump’s planning said advisers also are working on a plan to restructure the Central Intelligence Agency, cutting back on staffing at its Virginia headquarters and pushing more people out into field posts around the world. The CIA declined to comment.

“The view from the Trump team is the intelligence world has become completely politicized,” said the individual, who is close to the Trump transition. “They all need to be slimmed down. The focus will be on restructuring the agencies and how they interact.”

In other words Trump is upset that the intelligence agencies have determined that the Russian hacks were designed to help him win the election, and the wants to punish them for doing their jobs.

I actually see this is a not so veiled threat to remind the intelligence agency that he will soon be their boss and to take that into consideration before they reveal anything more about the hacks.

But riddle me this Batman.

How does a man who ran on increasing security for the United States, and fighting terrorists more aggressively, plan to do all of that once he has gutted the very agencies that he relies on to provide him the information to accomplish those tasks?

P.S. To be fair Trump spokesperson, and probable part time porn actor, Sean Spicer says that there is "no truth to this idea."

However how many times have we seen that a Trump spokesmodel has had no freaking idea what Donald Trump was actually up to?

Update: It looks like Trump is trying to Twitter-back his previous tweets:

Oh, I see. Trump was not really putting faith in Julian Assange over our intelligence agencies, that was just a misrepresentation by the media.

What was it he tweeted again?
Oh yeah, the "misunderstanding" was TOTALLY the fault of the press.

How dare they read his tweets and interpret them logically.

At the end of the hearings, someone (sorry, don't have name) was interviewed who said that the CIA was already revamped fairly recently, and Trump probably has no clue. There are March 2015 articles, like this one below, that talk about a revamp. I'm guessing this is what the person was referring to:

That WSJ article is detailed and news about the story coming out broke yesterday and it sounds legit.

And you know it's legit when right-wingers start blogging about how the WSJ is a Dem mouthpiece. Of course it's been a GOP mouthpiece since the end of its more objective days.

I loved that it was made absolutely clear that many in the intel agencies are current and former military personnel. Of course Trump had no idea. He thought he was attacking almost all regular citizens. Today he tweeted about his support of intel and said he was simply reporting what was being said about Assange. We know what he really said and thought/thinks. Today, he was made to look like the fool that he is, and one thing that surely ticked him off was learning that his professed love for all things military was shown not to be true. Or at the very least, mister know-more-than-the-generals was humiliated for not even knowing who makes up a large part of the intel personnel. Wonder if he's finally starting to regret making freakyass Flynn his special advisor.

I seriously doubt a 70 year old that has no interest in furthering his education knows the basics about computers let alone anything about cyber security.

He will probable make his 10 year old head of the new agency because he knows what the "on" button is.

I have a feeling they are going to lock down his twitter account or it is going to be a long 4 years of his lies, then defending his lies, then blaming lies on someone else.

Remember when campaigning Trump asked Russia to "find the missing Clinton emails" and he was accused of inviting a foreign gov't to spy on America?
Putin and Assange took him up on this and exposed Pedesta influencing the election.
Trump is Vlad's bitch now because of Russian intel data showing criminal and monetary deals with Moscow mafia and perhaps sexual perversion escapades of the Donald.
Afraid of being exposed Trump has been lying his ass off denying any trips, connections with Russians. Knowing the CIA and American news media will eventually unearth the truth and expose him, he has consistently been trying to neutralize the messengers with accusations "liars" and incompetence during his rallies and tweets.
Fist order of business as potus is to get rid of U.S.intel adversaries. Also eliminate awkward news interviews replacing with tweetocracy.
Vlad and Julian are holding the trump cards.

"restructure the Central Intelligence Agency, cutting back on staffing at its Virginia headquarters and pushing more people out into field posts around the world"
Not sure how you conclude less people at HQ and more people in field posts doesn't follow with a promise to increase security and fight terrorism. Because generally less honchos and more worker bees is a good thing.

Remember what Eisenhower said: "Beware the military-industrial complex"? In our post 9/11 world we have a security-industrial complex that has grown out of control and constantly lobbying for ways to put their product to work. Wonder why the FBI didn't need to look at the DNC's and Podesta's email servers? Because the very data collection systems Snowden told us about had already collected the upstream data.

I can't stand the orange gibbon, but I'm all for shrinking the top of our intelligence community and putting people back out in the world instead of relying so much on data collection - which has never stopped a terrorist attack.

Trump faces 7-hour grilling in restaurant lawsuit as soon as today

Trump will not be tweeting for at least seven hours some time in the very near future because he’s facing a lengthy deposition under oath in a lawsuit stemming from a restaurant that never opened.

LawNewz.com reported Thursday that the deposition is set to take place at Trump Tower due to “security reasons” and will include Trump, his legal team and attorneys representing chef Jose Andres and restauranteur Geoffrey Zakarian.

Andres and Zakarian were set to open a new restaurant in Trump’s Washington, D.C. hotel the Trump International but pulled out of the deal in 2015 after Trump kicked off his presidential campaign by calling Latino immigrants “drug dealers” and “rapists.”

Grubstreet.com’s Clint Rainey said that after Andres made the decision to abandon the project, the Trump International has been unable to attract a replacement restaurant.

Catch your breath, according to CNN, it lasted just over one hour.

    2. Anonymous1:16 PM

No one needs to catch their breath. According to CNN and MSNBC earlier today, it was in fact to be a 7-hr deposition, and there was comment on how Trump shouldn't now now be in a position like that requiring the loss of almost a full work day that could be spent on presidential duties.

But Trump won't let go of that law suit. He cannot stand that two famous chefs said f-you to him. He could have worked since then finding others to open better restaurants, but all he did was find someone to do a very mediocre limited kind of restaurant. The chef is fairly well known, but the restaurant is a basic grill you'd find anywhere. And reviews have not been good. If this hotel is to be five-star like he claims, it needs very good restaurants. Trump could have made it happen, but he chose to pursue the punishment of two people who were deeply offended by him and pulled away from the deal for moral reasons.

I hope these guys beat the shit out of Trump.

And, I hope their attorneys make it legally imperative that Trump does actually pay them! i.e. Liens could be placed against his real estate properties that should he refinance, the chef's liens would have to be paid along w/other liens against the property! They'd get their money eventually as long as the value of said real estate property liened is maintained.

What a moronic bozo Trump is. His first tweet says it all: "I just state what he (Assange) states." If Trump doesn't add any qualifying remarks, then he's in a agreement with what he is stating. When will he realize that tweeting is not the most appropriate way to get one's point across. Government officials should not try to communicate their thoughts in 140 characters or less. They need to spend more time thinking about the consequences of their remarks than about the letters needed.

They're also up to no good--sorry, don't have links--on trying to take away some of Obama's protective executive moves made this past month, and they have scheduled 6 Trump nominees' hearings on the same day that Lardass will finally be doing a press conference so that attn will be on Trump and not the hearings.

I had heard a few days ago that they'd be pushing for very short hearings of nominees. Then asshole McConnell started whining yesterday about how they had confirmed a # of Obama people back on 1/21 after Obama got in. Well, there was no reason not to. Yes they confirmed a #, but these were people who had been senators and governors, sometimes under a GOP pres, and they were respected lawyers and one was even the first Nobel Prize winner to be in the Cabinet. There were Tom Vilsack gov of Iowa, Ken Salazar Hillary senators (etc for Hillary). Janet Napolitano had been AZ's attorney general and governor. Shinsheki had been the Bush Army chief of Staff. These were all going to be so easily confirmed. Others were Steven Chu, a Nobel scientist, and Arne Duncan, Harvard degree Supervisor of Chicago schools appointed by mayor Daley. Many of Trump's picks are not well known, and if they are well known they are people who have questionable experience for their new roles and with histories that are filled with conflicts of interest and behavior that is not becoming of someone of high office.
