Inaugural protests turn violent as Americans express their fear and loathing of Donald Trump.

Courtesy of ABC News:

Protesters registered their rage against the new president Friday in a chaotic confrontation with police who used pepper spray and stun grenades in a melee just blocks from Donald Trump's inaugural parade route. Scores were arrested for trashing property and attacking officers.

Several spirited demonstrations unfolded peacefully at various security checkpoints near the Capitol as police helped ticket-holders get through to the inaugural ceremony. Signs read, "Resist Trump Climate Justice Now," ''Let Freedom Ring," ''Free Palestine."

But about a mile from the National Mall, police gave chase to a group of about 100 protesters who smashed the windows of downtown businesses including a Starbucks, a Bank of America and a McDonald's as they denounced capitalism and Trump. Police in riot gear used pepper spray from large canisters and eventually cordoned off protesters at 12th and L streets in northwest Washington.

The confrontation began an hour before Trump took the oath of office and escalated several hours later as the crowd of protesters swelled to more than 1,000, some wearing gas masks and with arms chained together inside PVC pipe. One said the demonstrators were "bringing in the cavalry."

Some of the protesters called the police "pigs" which I think is unfair and even threw rocks and bricks at them.

I don't condone the violent behavior, and the police are only trying to do their jobs, however I can certainly empathize with what these people feeling.

However acting like this makes it too way for the MSM to dismiss ALL of the protesters at mere thugs or anarchists.
And that's not fair because by contrast there were a number of very peaceful, well mannered protests happening all over Washington.

Well actually all over the world.
Interestingly enough the big crowds seem to be the ones protesting Donald Trump's inauguration, rather than celebrating it as this tweet from MSNBC reporter Katy Tur demonstrates.

Oh that is going to make tiny hands unhappy.

Apparently the orange tinted pussy grabber had big plans to make today's parade compete with the best parades ever held......in a fascist dictatorship.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Donald Trump’s inauguration team wanted to show off the U.S. military during inauguration weekend and even suggested including tanks and missile launchers in his inaugural parade, The Huffington Post reported Thursday.

“They were legit thinking Red Square/North Korea-style parade,” an inauguration team source told The Huffington Post, referring to massive military parades in Moscow and Pyongyang that are often interpreted as displays of aggression.

According to the report, the military shot down the request because of concerns about how it would look to have tanks and missile launchers in the parade, as well as the possible damage the tanks, which can weigh over 100,000 pounds, would do to the roads.

“I could absolutely see structural support being a reason [not to use tanks],” a Department of Defense official told The Huffington Post. “D.C. is built on a swamp to begin with.”

Trump did manage to get five military jets to do a flyover, but I heard they refused his requests to bomb the protesters.

Okay I made that last part up.

Or did I?

Personally I am boycotting all television coverage of this black day in history, which as you all know is really hard for me because I am a news junkie and because....well the blog.

Though there was one person who managed to shame me a little for hiding my head in the sand today.
So tough, so courageous, so dedicated to her responsibilities.

Damn she would have made a hell of a President!

Update: Apparently Trump's deplorables chanted "Lock her up" when they saw Hillary and Bill.

Fucking assholes!

We all know what Bill Clinton is. Seems like Hillary is just a patsy, but she has her reasons, or she did, and I think she always felt they were stronger as a team.

Now that her political career is over it will be interesting to see if she finally kicks his philandering ass to the curb. I'd bet money that she does.

      2) the second one about him looking at Michele is ludicrous, his eyes never look-- at whatever he is looking at - below neck level. He isn't looking at Michele at all, and certainly not in a "checking her out" way.

‘An inaugural for Red America alone’: Former Bush speech writer slams Trump’s ‘shocking’ speech

...Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson, who was a speechwriter for former President George W. Bush, took to Twitter on Friday to express his astonishment at just how divisive the new president’s speech really was. In particular, Gerson thought it sounded as though Trump was only speaking too the 46% of voters who supported him this past fall.

“It is truly shocking how disconnected this speech was from inaugural history,” wrote Gerson, who has been a longtime critic of Trump dating back to last year’s Republican primaries. “An inaugural for red American alone.”

Gerson also knocked Trump for painting an overly negative portrait of life in the United States, and for not offering a positive, uplifting message other than promoting his own grandiosity.

“There was the ‘New Deal,’ the ‘New Frontier’ — we have been treated to the “American Carnage” speech,” he wrote. “Trump has only one style of leadership — amplify resentments to intimidate opponents and force change.”

To sum up the speech, Gerson cribbed a line from Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address and twisted it into a Trump-esque concoction.

“With malice toward many,” he wrote. “And charity is for losers.”

I can see, like, the members of what is probably the Cabinet. I can see the people walking in to the camera shot. I’m standing right outside the Rotunda on the Senate side, I can see the procession.”

“Corey Lewandowski on the phone outside the Crypt right before Obama and Trump walked outside,” wrote Gangitano.

The Crypt is the entryway to the passages leading into the Capitol Building. It is directly under the Capitol rotunda.

Capitol Police accosted Lewandowski and asked why he was there.

“I’m Mr. Trump’s campaign manager,” he insisted, then produced four separate administrative badges to the officers, none of which convinced them to let him through. Lewandowski was ousted as campaign manager in June of 2016 and ultimately replaced by Kellyanne Conway.

“Minutes later, Obama and members of the congressional Democratic leadership walked through, soon followed by Trump and members of the GOP leadership,” Gangitano said. “By that time, Lewandowski was gone.”

Instead he is going to give them free reign by removing regulations that keep us safe, demolish unions that protect our rights and give them tax breaks that will be passed on to the CEOs and shareholders.

His cabinet choices are worth about $14 Billion, but he didn’t include them in his speech about taking all the money from the little people. What a hypocrite.

Then in 2000 we had a stolen election and shit went to hell for 8 years then we had a guy come in and make things right again.

Now we have another stolen election and a guy who is going to take things into the shitter.

Do we really have a voice here or is it just a mechanism of which we have no control? Is this how America really works? Ups and downs and division because of election results?

Makes me think that we have no control at all.

Drizzled rain all day here on the Chesapeake Bay, so, we stayed inside, taking down Christmas decorations, cleaning house. TV was turned to Australian Open tennis replays the old Gunsmoke reruns. Goddam but I wish Matt Dillon were here . . . he'd run the republicans out of Dodge and keep 'em out!!!

Here in Wasilla we were cleaning snow from the driveway as it had warmed up to 7 above from the low of -30 the other night...they say another foot is on the way.

We've had 3 winters of warm and hardly any snow, finally remembered what winter really is :-)

      Where's my climate change ;-)

When is someone going to ask traitor trump when he plans to bring his businesses back to America? You know so it will create jobs.

When is someone going to ask traitor trump why his companies just filed for more H1 visas bringing “those foreigners” here to work? When is he going to hire REAL AMERICANS?

A reporter asked GW what he thought of trump’s rant (I mean speech) his reply was: So how are you doing?
GW not my favorite president, but he could teach trump a thing or two about “being diplomatic”.

I too protested in a small way, I refused to click on any article that reported on anything Trump or repubs were promoting. I did enjoy the scarce attendance of the inauguration and parade. and also donated to

since trump owns stock in the Dakota pipeline company, Energy Transfer Partners and will probably overrule Obama's rerouting the pipeline.

Every little thing helps. If you feel you are not being heard times that small voice into millions and you get a cacophony of sound that can be heard. Every small step taken becomes a big step that at some point cannot be ignored.

Watch the press. I believe they will finally get their balls back because this President thinks he can control them. The pen is mightier than the sword.

Trumps problems are just beggining. He has no idea how he will be hounded. Every thing counts. We saw this at the lack of crowds for his inaugaration. That hurt that butt hole and his ego.

There is a lot of people fired up right now and i hope it continues.

To make a change and be heard it has to go on long after this farce of an election. Look at the Vietnam war protests. I don't believe violence helps any cause, it is the steady grinding of the wheels and it will take more than a few days, it will take months but like water dripping on a stone the asshole now known as President Trump will be known as the ass that he is.

We need to continue to have an effect. For those who cant travel due to health or money issues there needs to be local opposition whether it be petitions available to sign or letters to your local reps.

But the main point is we need to carry on long after this fiassco of an inaugeration is over. This is the beggining not the end.

  40. Senate just confirmed the first two of Trump's cabinet picks: James Mattis and John Kelly.

So much for backbones and balls. Democrats are useless wimps.

Actually, those two are the more sane ones of all the cab nominations. Check into nat'l security experts; most of them are greatly relieved by Mattis and Kelly. It's far better than Perry for Energy or idiotic DeVos for Ed.

WTF? When President Obama won and walked in the parade, there were no babies, no Auntie Ann or Uncle Jimmy Joe, nieces and nephews and I'm assuming Pretty Woman 2.0 had her parents. Pretty confusing situation for the Secret Service with all those people exiting their cars and walking. I remember only seeing President Obama and First Lady Michelle walking and it was further than what Trump did.

Why did Trump only walked a few feet? Was he scared someone would take a potshots at him?

It really pisses me off when the "Black Hoodies" only show up to break windows at demonstrations that aren't in support of Trump.

I wouldn't be surprised if some right organization(s) paid some of these "anarchists" to riot. As it gives the media and the right wing their 'look, over there, squirrel; the left is bad, moment'. As I think most people are peaceful and don't cause damage nor riot.
