Here is that crazy interview that MSNBC's Katy Tur had with former campaign aide Sam Nunberg. Update!

Courtesy of NBC News:

Sam Nunberg, a former Donald Trump campaign aide, plans to defy a subpoena from special counsel Robert Mueller requesting campaign documents related to the Russia investigation, saying Monday that it would be "really funny" if he were arrested.

"The president's right, it's a witch hunt," Nunberg told MSNBC's Katy's Tur.

"I'm not going to cooperate when they want me to come into a grand jury for them to insinuate that (former Trump adviser) Roger Stone was colluding with (Wikileaks founder) Julian Assange," he added.

Nunberg, who has already been interviewed by Mueller's office, called the idea that Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia the "biggest joke," but he suggested — without any evidence — that Mueller may have something on the president.

"I think they may," said Nunberg, who served briefly as a campaign adviser. "I think that he (Trump) may have done something during the election. But I don't know that for sure." He didn't provide any details.

I like how at one point he says that Trump did nothing wrong, and then only minutes later suggests that Trump "may have done something during the election."

My favorite part of this exchange is at the end when it seems that Nunberg suddenly realizes that he may have screwed himself and asks Katy Tur what she thinks Mueller might do to him for not complying with the subpoena.

I think I know exactly Mueller might do, and I am certain that Sam Nunberg is going to regret his defiance.

Here was something interesting that former US Attorney Preet Bharara tweeted right after this segment aired.
I think is more than likely.

So all Nunberg is accomplishing here is putting a bullseye on this back and alerting the Mueller team that he may have something to hide.

Before I close this post I just want to say that I thought Katy Tur did an EXCELLENT job of conducting this interview and got Nunberg to divulge things that I am certain his lawyer would have wrestled him to the ground to keep him from saying.

Nunberg jumped from this interview to CNN, and that interview paled in comparison to this one with Katy Tur.

And that is why for me MSNBC is the best cable news program on the air today.

Update: Later Nunberg showed up on MSNBC again this time on Ari Melber's show.
There were three lawyers there, and ALL of them told him he needed to cooperate, and genuinely seemed worried for him.

Update 2: And now this.
Okay, I don't know about anybody else, but I'm a little dizzy.

Michael Wolff's new book also reveals how Donald Trump tries to trick the wives of his friends into sleeping with him.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Donald Trump had an intricate plan of deception to bed the wives of his friends, according to yet another bombshell revelation from Michael Wolff’s new book Fire and Fury.

MSNBC obtained a copy of the book and NBC News’ former embedded reporter with the Trump campaign, Katy Tur, tweeted a highlighted section.

“Trump liked to say that one of the things that made life worth living was getting your friends’ wives into bed,” the starred paragraph begins.

“In pursuing a friend’s wife, he would try to persuade the wife that her husband was perhaps not what she thought. Then he’d have his secretary ask the friend into his office; once the friend arrived, Trump would engage in what was, for him, more or less constant sexual banter. Do you still like having sex with your wife? How often? You must have had a better f*ck than your wife? Tell me about it. I have girls coming in from Los Angeles at three o’clock. We can go upstairs and have a great time. I promise … And all the while, Trump would have his friend’s wife on the speakerphone, listening in,” the book reported.

Congratulations Republicans this is now the leader of your party.

Hillary Clinton's book is now a number one bestseller.

Courtesy of CNBC:

Last week, Hillary Clinton released her new book, "What Happened," a first-person tell-all that documents her surprising loss to Donald J. Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

Now the book is ranked No. 1. on Amazon's Best Sellers list.

It's beating out New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady's "The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance," which comes in at No. 2, as well as two novels from 1986: Margaret Atwood's dystopian classic, "The Handmaid's Tale," and Stephen King's horror classic, "It: A Novel."

The book has already sold more than 300,000 copies, and is still going strong.

I am less than halfway through the book but so far I have found it to be the most authentic and unguarded book from Hillary Clinton that I have every read.

At times Hillary is almost plaintive in her attempts to understand what it about her which inspires so much hatred.

She points out that her political ideology is right in step with her husband's, with Joe Biden's, with President Obama's, and even with Bernie Sanders who she voted in synch with 93% of the time.

And yet the hatred directed at her was substantially more intense than that faced by most of her colleagues. (With the possible exception of Obama, and we all know why that was the case.)

Very early in the book Hillary addresses her mistakes, though some reviewers have suggested that she only focuses on others. After that she really seems to be attempting to examine as dispassionately as possible all of the other factors which helped determine the outcome of  the election.

Some of that focus is definitely concerning the deeply entrenched sexism which is still a big part of the political DNA in America.

As a man I recognized the accuracy of some of Hillary's observations, but I really feel that women are going to understand it in a more fundamental way than I ever could.

I am not yet sure if I will ultimately find this book cathartic, because right now it is still just ripping off scabs, both hers and mine.

However if you have not yet purchased the book I do recommend it, especially for those people who still deeply dislike Hillary or think she was a "flawed candidate."  For THAT audience I think this book may serve as a revelation. (And yes I recognize that most of them would never even consider reading it.)

Speaking of sexism and hatred, the other book mentioned in the CNBC article was Katy Tur's book "Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History," which is currently number one in Amazon's Humor and Entertainment category.

I have not yet purchased that book, but it is on my list.

Donald Trump is upset that people are writing books about him.

Courtesy of The Hill:

MSNBC anchor Katy Tur in her new book compares covering then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at campaign rallies to being "caged in the center of the arena like a modern-day Roman Coliseum."

"They turn as one to boo at us in unison. Six thousand Trump supporters railing against 30 or so journalists — caged in the center of the arena like a modern-day Roman Coliseum," Tur wrote in "Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History."

Trump criticized Tur during several speeches throughout the campaign, calling the then-33-year-old a "third-rate reporter," "disgraceful" and "not nice."

At one point during the general election season in July 2016, Trump openly accused Tur of supporting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

If you watched any of MSNBC's coverage of the election, you could not have missed Keay Tur's excellent reporting from the very belly of the beast, the Donald Trump rallies.

She was verbally assaulted, threatened, and even stalked by Trump supporters, not to mention being verbally attacked by the presidential candidate himself.

However in Trump's eyes none of this qualifies Tur to write a book about her time on his campaign.

As evidenced by this tweet he sent not long after it was announced that Tur's book was set for release yesterday.
Of course as we know Donald Trump's version of "fake news" is any news which disagrees with his version of reality.

Personally I think the very fact that he felt the need to attack her like this just reinforces that what she wrote is something he does not want us to read. I imagine it will only help the book sales.

The guy in charge of the new voter integrity commission is not sure just who won the last election.

Courtesy of CNN:

The vice chair of President Donald Trump's voter integrity commission said Wednesday he isn't sure if Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the 2016 presidential election.

"We may never know the answer," Kobach said.

Kobach repeated this claim when pressed, later conceding that, "Based on the data, you could make some very educated guesses."

He applied a similar skepticism to the votes cast in favor of Trump, which Kobach said were "absolutely" in doubt as well.

Wait, so we have no idea who won the last election for sure?

Well there is really only one appropriate response to that kind of doubt, a do over.

Yep, let's hold the whole election over again and may the best woman win.

Sen. Lindsey Graham wants to take a little peek at Donald Trump's business ties with Russia. In response Trump lawyers up.

Courtesy of Reuters:

U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said on Tuesday he wants to know more about President Donald Trump's business dealings in relation to Russia, but that congressional investigations may have to avoid the matter if they conflict with an FBI probe.

Graham asked former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper at a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on Monday whether he had concerns about Russian ties to Trump's business interests. Clapper said he could not comment because the issue could be a subject of an ongoing investigation.

CNN reported on Tuesday that Graham intended to look into Trump's business ties to see if any connections exist between Russia and the Trump campaign or the president's associates.

After this news broke yesterday MSNBC's Katy Tur tweeted this:
"He has no business in Russia. He has no connections to Russia."

Okay that right there is demonstrably untrue.

Has anybody else noticed that many of Trump's most recent responses to the Russia probe, such as the firing of James Comey, the attempt to play down his associations with Paul Manafort, Carter Page, and Michael Flynn, and this most recent hiring of this new lawyer, seem almost like subconscious admissions of guilt?

Or is that just me?

Inaugural protests turn violent as Americans express their fear and loathing of Donald Trump.

Courtesy of ABC News:

Protesters registered their rage against the new president Friday in a chaotic confrontation with police who used pepper spray and stun grenades in a melee just blocks from Donald Trump's inaugural parade route. Scores were arrested for trashing property and attacking officers.

Several spirited demonstrations unfolded peacefully at various security checkpoints near the Capitol as police helped ticket-holders get through to the inaugural ceremony. Signs read, "Resist Trump Climate Justice Now," ''Let Freedom Ring," ''Free Palestine."

But about a mile from the National Mall, police gave chase to a group of about 100 protesters who smashed the windows of downtown businesses including a Starbucks, a Bank of America and a McDonald's as they denounced capitalism and Trump. Police in riot gear used pepper spray from large canisters and eventually cordoned off protesters at 12th and L streets in northwest Washington.

The confrontation began an hour before Trump took the oath of office and escalated several hours later as the crowd of protesters swelled to more than 1,000, some wearing gas masks and with arms chained together inside PVC pipe. One said the demonstrators were "bringing in the cavalry."

Some of the protesters called the police "pigs" which I think is unfair and even threw rocks and bricks at them.

I don't condone the violent behavior, and the police are only trying to do their jobs, however I can certainly empathize with what these people feeling.

However acting like this makes it too way for the MSM to dismiss ALL of the protesters at mere thugs or anarchists.
And that's not fair because by contrast there were a number of very peaceful, well mannered protests happening all over Washington.

Well actually all over the world.
Interestingly enough the big crowds seem to be the ones protesting Donald Trump's inauguration, rather than celebrating it as this tweet from MSNBC reporter Katy Tur demonstrates.

Oh that is going to make tiny hands unhappy.

Apparently the orange tinted pussy grabber had big plans to make today's parade compete with the best parades ever held......in a fascist dictatorship.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Donald Trump’s inauguration team wanted to show off the U.S. military during inauguration weekend and even suggested including tanks and missile launchers in his inaugural parade, The Huffington Post reported Thursday.

“They were legit thinking Red Square/North Korea-style parade,” an inauguration team source told The Huffington Post, referring to massive military parades in Moscow and Pyongyang that are often interpreted as displays of aggression.

According to the report, the military shot down the request because of concerns about how it would look to have tanks and missile launchers in the parade, as well as the possible damage the tanks, which can weigh over 100,000 pounds, would do to the roads.

“I could absolutely see structural support being a reason [not to use tanks],” a Department of Defense official told The Huffington Post. “D.C. is built on a swamp to begin with.”

Trump did manage to get five military jets to do a flyover, but I heard they refused his requests to bomb the protesters.

Okay I made that last part up.

Or did I?

Personally I am boycotting all television coverage of this black day in history, which as you all know is really hard for me because I am a news junkie and because....well the blog.

Though there was one person who managed to shame me a little for hiding my head in the sand today.
So tough, so courageous, so dedicated to her responsibilities.

Damn she would have made a hell of a President!

Update: Apparently Trump's deplorables chanted "Lock her up" when they saw Hillary and Bill.

Fucking assholes!

The Secret Service was forced to protect MSNBC reporter Katy Tur from Trump supporters after he singled her out during rally.

Courtesy of TPM:

The candidate had previously blasted her as “dishonest” for her coverage of protests at an earlier rally and demanded an apology, which Tur refused to give. "What a lie. Katy Tur.

What a lie it was," Trump said, pointing at Tur from the stage. "Third. Rate. Reporter. Remember that.”

In an essay for Marie Claire, Tur wrote that the crowd turned on her "like a large animal, angry and unchained." Afterwards, the Secret Service took what she described as the "extraordinary" precaution of walking Tur to her car.

It was unlikely, Tur said, that any future attack by the candidate could be "as scary."

We already discussed that this is the first campaign where the Secret Service had to talk to one candidate about threatening another candidate with violence, but I am equally sure that this is the first campaign where the Secret Service had to protect a reporter from a candidate's angry mob of supporters after the candidate essentially pointed them in their direction.

I have to say that I have really enjoyed Katy Tur's reporting this year. And she along with Kasie Hunt, Kristen Welker, and Hallie Jackson have made MSNBC my go to stop for campaign coverage.
