President Obama surprises his press secretary with a tribute during his final briefing.

I watched this live this morning and was once again taken by President Obama's sheer humanity.

He is not only a great president, but he is also clearly a great boss, and a great friend.

Decent may be an understatement. No offense. He endured more negativity and outright obstruction that would have weakened or caused most men to cry and quit!
He is a dying breed. One hell of a fighter!!!

Well put, both. I love the guy, but anyone who doesn't should be able to admit that he is a very decent human being. And yeah, what he endured. Who else could have handled it like he did.

President Obama is someone who understands what fighting really means--standing up for what is right and decent, and using your office and power to do so, standing with dignity and generosity, no matter how and how much you are attacked.

The Donald thinks that fighting means getting Twitter revenge on anyone who insults his hair.

      Gods help us all.

Memorable Quotes About Michelle Obama From Collection of Essays by Ava DuVernay, Others
'The Meaning of Michelle' features 16 essays about the First Lady and the impact she's had on the U.S., with 'Hamilton' alum Phillipa Soo and writer Roxane Gay among those sharing their insights.

As Michelle Obama experiences her final days in the White House, writers are honoring her role over the past eight years in a new collection of essays, The Meaning of Michelle.

Director Ava DuVernay wrote the preface for the book, which features 16 essays about the First Lady and the impact she has had on America.

"When she made us laugh — from her mom-dancing with Jimmy Fallon to her Lil Jon parody, "Turnip for What" to the College Rap with Saturday Night Live star Jay Pharoah — she reminded us how good it feels when you can be at home in your own skin and therefore at home in your world," writes editor Veronica Chambers.

The novel, published by St. Martin's Press and available as of Jan. 10, contains essays from Hamilton alum Phillipa Soo, writer Roxane Gay and others.

Below is a collection of some of the most memorable quotes from the book, touching on Obama's confidence, style, kindness and legacy.

I love my President. I was blessed when he sacrificed his life to serve this country. He and his family have endured much scorn to stand for his belief that America is great and we are strengthened by our diversity. I will miss his intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate hand on the rudder of this great nation.

We’re about to entrust the presidency to a man experts say is unfit for jury duty

With less than a week to go before Donald Trump brings his personal brand of arbitrary plutocratic twittertarianism to the White House, it’s become pretty clear that the next U.S. president is suffering from a chronic case of democratic impairment.

The guy we’re about to entrust with the most important job in our democracy seems challenged by even the most basic duties of citizenship. We don’t know if Trump pays his taxes, he repeatedly wiggled out of military service when his country came calling, and judging by his wandering eyes at the ballot box last November, it’s not even clear if he knew how to vote until Melania showed him how.

      Guess Who's Been Advising Trump?

Guess who's been advising Donald Trump on his picks for the people who will control foreign policy in a Trump administration?

Well, here's a hint: who's the most murderous, toxic, partisan psychopath you can think of? One who gained so much infamy for his services to the Bush administration that he had to flee the country to avoid the law?

If you guessed Erik Prince, notorious mercenary and founder of Blackwater, you win the dubious prize:

Erik Prince, America’s most notorious mercenary, is lurking in the shadows of the incoming Trump administration. A former senior U.S. official who has advised the Trump transition told The Intercept that Prince has been advising the team on matters related to intelligence and defense, including weighing in on candidates for the defense and state departments....

On election night, Prince’s latest wife, Stacy DeLuke, posted pictures from inside Trump’s campaign headquarters as Donald Trump and Mike Pence watched the returns come in, including a close shot of Pence and Trump with their families....

I have to admit that I was somewhat ambivalent about Barack Obama eight years ago. I supported Hillary back then and thought Mr Obama needed more experience. But he won me over very quickly once he took office and as time has gone on, I have appreciated his leadership and expertise more and more. He's been a great President and will no doubt be a great statesman & inspiration in the future. I keep hoping that the past two months have been a bad nightmare that I'll wake up from before Friday. Shame in all of the Republicans who disrespected and obstructed him these past eight years. Trump will NEVER come close to filling Obama's shoes.

Majority of Americans believe Russia interfered with election: New NBC-WSJ poll

That finding shows substantial public acceptance of the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion about the hacking of Democratic Party computers. President-elect Donald Trump, who takes office Friday, has only grudgingly accepted that finding while accusing intelligence officials of leaking unflattering information about him.

The survey showed that 51 percent think Russia interfered with last fall's campaign, while 36 percent said it did not. Some 13 percent weren't sure.

The encounter among father, son and President Obama was so sweet and indicative of the good relationship between the press secretary and his boss. Also, of the good relationship between President Obama and all of us.

That's what class looks like. President Obama took the blows and ignored the petty shit.

Trump can never ignore any slight. This is a major flaw for someone in power.Notice how President Obama aged due to weight on his shoulders. This is a serious leader. Trump will worry about his comb over and his spray tan.

President Obama not only carried the weight of being President but the weight of being the first black President. His daughters moved to the White House and Melania Trump won't do it because of Barron so we really have no First Lady.

Where is she? I see Ivanka and Beavis and Butthead taking the spotlight. Do you know what it is costing the taxpayers to protect Trump Tower because Melania never wanted this.

Yeah! Trump can be the first in a lot of things. First in having a nude soft porn model as a First Lady. First in that same nude model living outside the White House.First in having his Son In Law as his advisor. First in not disclosing his taxes.

How low are we willing to go with our standards for President? We need to ride his ass until he is impeached. We do not suffer Kings. We set the standards.

All of America is made up of mutts. It's that blend that made us what we are.We are not stuck with this idiot if we never give up and if there is one thing we as Americans do is we never give up.

Good luck to those of you with children in school. DeVos has worked very hard to ruin the schools in MI with her taxpayer provided vouchers for Christian charter schools, just think how much fun she will have ruining the education system of a whole nation.

Austria's leader of the Nazi-created 'Freedom Party' will be at Trump's inauguration

Heinz-Christian Strache is the head of Austria’s Freedom Party. A few weeks ago it was reported that Trump’s scary national security advisor, Mike Flynn, had met with Strache to discuss whatever it is people discuss inside of volcano underground lairs.

.... Flynn’s outreach to Strache is worrisome for other reasons, too. In his Facebook post, Strache also announced that he had signed a “cooperation pact” with Vladimir Putin, who recently shared a table with Flynn at a gala in Moscow celebrating the tenth anniversary of RT, the Russian state television organization. Strache said he would act as “a neutral and reliable intermediary and partner” between the Trump White House and Russia, and boasted that “the Freedom Party continues to gain international influence.”.....

Trump should put his pride aside and just come forth. Not to be blackmailed by Putin. Yes, we all do some crazy shit when we think no one is looking. But to have it covertly recorded would be embarrassing. Trump needs to relinquish the presidency because not only will Putin have his way with us but Putin will make Trump's life hell. And we all know Trump is a womanizer, and abuser. There's no pride in that. Just come forth before we go the full length of is disaster.
