Bill Maher “the Supreme Court pick was stolen… The only person I would accept is Merrick Garland.”

Courtesy of Mediaite:

Bill Maher tonight said that Democrats should “stop bringing a knife to a gun fight” and get tougher in pushing back on President Trump‘s Supreme Court pick.

Because as far as Maher’s concerned, “the Supreme Court pick was stolen… The only person I would accept is Merrick Garland.”

I really did not think the show was all that good last night, but I have to admit that this part almost inspired me to start applauding.

The problem with Democrats is that we are so fucking reasonable, and we are fighting against some of the most unreasonable people on the planet.

Maher is right that our opportunity to put a justice on the Supreme Court was stolen from us, and if we do not stand up and be just as unyielding in return this will keep on happening to us.

I don't necessarily think we can hold out for the entire four years, but then again we don't know until we try.

His best, probably not, but he gives due respect to his guests. Especially the bottle blonde.

LOVED the "New Rules" segment when he called out the Patriots. Paraphrasing, I've been eloquent, but all I can say now is "fuck you" to everything.

OH do I live this life.
    Surrender never.

You can't hit them out of the park every time. But there were some high points this week.

It is great to see Gryph and all of you continuing to tune in to the entertainment industry for direction. It will be a while, if ever apparently, before you understand why Hillary lost.

How is the year working out for you so far Nefer lol? Well at least you have your superiority complex and your centuries old rhetorical role of humor and satire in political discourse to fall back on.

Yep. Reasoning with a ReTHUGlicanis like trying to reason with a two year old. Pick em up, tuck 'em in bed, read em a story and then do the adult work, cleanignup the mess they;ve left. Thing is two year olds grow up, eventually. ReTHUGs, not so much. T.Rump= perpetual child.

Why in the hell are we paying for secret service for a business trip?
    ======================================

Eric Trump's Uruguay trip cost taxpayers nearly $100K: report

One of President Trump's sons made a business trip to Uruguay in early January that cost taxpayers $97,830 to put Secret Service and embassy staffers in hotel rooms, according to a new report.

Eric Trump visited the South American nation on behalf of the Trump Organization before his father’s Jan. 20 inauguration, The Washington Post reported Friday.
In the coastal town of Punta del Este, Eric Trump met with real estate brokers, dined at a beachfront eatery and spoke at an “ultra exclusive” party at Trump Tower Punta del Este, according to the report.

The Secret Service spent $88,320 on hotel rooms, according to purchasing orders analyzed by the Post, and the U.S. Embassy in the capital city of Montevideo paid another $9,510 so staffers could stay in hotel rooms and “support” the Secret Service for the “VIP visit.” The president's immediate family receives Secret Service protection by law.

The Post said Trump’s stop was brief — as little as two nights — according to a review of local press stories and social media.

    1. You think that's bad? Trump is personally profiting every time he goes to Mar-a-lago. All of the secret service and other staffers are put up in Trump owned hotels so he directly profits from it. Just like he got paid when they all flew on his own private plane.

The presidency is nothing but a means to make money off of the taxpayer, plus being able to make laws that benefit himself and his crony business buddies and reward political donors.

It's one thing to invite on republicans. Is is actually okay to invite ones with a brain. It is another thing to invite on reality-denying sh*t-for-brains trumpites. Agreeing to disagree with someone who follows logic and reality is quite different from trying to speak with someone who does not. They make the show unwatchable. I sure as sh*t won't sit there and try to wrap my brain around such ignorance. The stoopid.. it hurts.

Seems Direct TV, Dish Network, Prism, Cable companies like cox, apple, tracfone, and others are directly involved in this global crime and fake news. Could it be local republican city, county, state government? yes. Could it be the Russian's at the space station ucking around with our grid in recent days, months and years? Hundreds of small wireless outlets sold and then suddenly hacked, satelites hacked, power grid hacked, train and airline communications hacked, and it goes on. Don't be gullible people. The lies and spies of a communist dick tator exposed. The lies of the alt insane, fox nation. The Little men, tiny fingers and their HUGE little boy complexes. They stole the election, have cost americans billions and interrupted our life temporarily. International crimes against Humanity. The republican party are nasty dirty liars. Lock um up.

It's no secret that Trump and his cabinet are way up Putin's ass. It's no secret that Trump envies Putin. It's also no secret that Trump is mentally ill. I don't give a shit what he says, honey, the guy is nuts and everything he says and does is nuts. You need to learn to accept that and plan for it.

I agree, we ARE too fucking reasonable. I shared a Facebook meme the other day RE: Bannon being a wife-beating alcoholic white supremacist. I knew the wife-beating, white supremacist parts were true, but I didn't fact-check the alcoholic part (he sure as shit looks like one though). I kinda felt a little guilty about sharing it without doing due diligence, but fuck it. Time to fight fire with fire.

  11. We don't have to hold out for four years. Only until Trump is out of office. That won't take four years at the rate he's going.

Then we hold out until Pence is out of office.

Maker is absolutely right. Neil Nonesuch should get the same respect and consideration as Merrick Garland. If Trump wants his candidate confirmed by the Democrats, he can damned well nominate Merrick Garland, who is just as qualified as Niel Forever Fascist Nonesuch if not more so.

And yes. Democrats need to stop being the adults. Stop being polite and reasonable and accommodating and compromising and respectful. They need to be worse than the Republicans. They need to out-deplorable the Republicans. But that isn't going to happen with traitors like Manchin masquerading as Democrats but failing to stand solidly as a block and vote for everyone's best interest rather than their own personal gain. You also have cowards that believe the threats the GOP is making regarding their upcoming re-elections. The DNC needs to make their threats even stronger, convincing them that it's the DNC they should be afraid of if they are contemplating crossing the aisle and aligning themselves with the Trump camp. If they do, it should be a career ender.

  17. I noticed everyone at Bill Maher's table got it wrong about Joe Biden.

They all act like what Joe Biden said in June 1992 -- namely, suggesting a possible SCOTUS vacancy (thru retirement, at the time) should wait until after the upcoming election -- was something he subsequently acted on, when the truth is he presided as chairman of the Judiciary Committee over several SCOTUS nomination hearings and votes, including one during the last year of Reagan's 2nd term.

Scalia died in February 2016, and President Obama had a nomination ready within a month. The summer increase in election campaigning hadn't even begun, as it had in 1992.

Last year the Republicans refused to even hold Judiciary committee hearings and a vote, let alone bring the nomination to the Senate floor. That's not anything like what they call "the Biden rule".

I guess we can look forward to years of investigations, hearings, convictions and shame directed directly to each republican. And to save money we should hold court in the street by and for the people. No more wasting time and money on this disgusting bunch of liars.
